So is it just this kernel that is compatible with both devices or is everything dev wise compatible with both
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium

Welcome sir
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium

Not to discourage you but those kernels are not updated to meet the fixes implemented with the nightlies. Just wanted to give you that bit of thought. Might fix a minor issue but will break some of the fixes provided but the guys compiling jb for us..

Usually everything but the rotation works fine. But like most things, your experience may differ depending on use and needs.

Dunno for sure if this still is an issues as well but all sensors (including orientation) were installed upside down physically between the T989 (T-Mobile S2) and T989D (Skyrocket), so just like you need rotation fix you may find things like accelerometer, compass, magnetometer, etc. Sensors report, but values may be opposite (thus wrongly reported even though they are collecting data still) of what the ROM expects making them useless.
This was mostly a problem when ICS ROMs were ported between the 2, but will probably be at issue in this circumstance as well.

Dude, search around. This has been answered a bunch of times. The kernel needs to support bln and all we have is stock. You can try NoLed which uses the screen to display tiny notifications.

search does work, i use it all the time on my phone to help newer users. As an alternative, try using google with keywords from your problem and adding "skyrocket xda.". If I need to find something really specific that usually does it
Download NoLED off the market. You can even have put icons on the screen so you know what you missed.

Tap the microphone icon on the Google search widget, once the input screen comes up press the menu button to access the settings, from there you can turn Google now on (mine was off by default).

Anyone having problems with YouTube? it keeps freezing after viewing the video for one minute.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
I noticed YouTube buffering excessively earlier but I was on a slower network than usual so I thought nothing of it. Were you on 4g or WiFi when you noticed it? I can't confirm at my current location. I'll have to wait until I get home.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I'm on Wi-Fi, I don't think it's the connection because I can watch it on my laptop fine.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
I just watched a video to test, it played all the way through, but like I said it took a while to buffer, which is expected here at my work. The app is fully functional, but may have some performance issues, they just fixed a major bug with it after all. The ROM is still in alpha so you can expect some improvements with an RC.

it looks like there are 3 CM10 ROM's available to us in the development forums - Official, Unofficial, and Hercules JB 4.1.1 Nightlies. What are the differences? Went through the 3 forums and seems like they all have the same issues and are all of course in the alpha stage?
If yall are looking for an awesome theme here is one.You can thank djDarknight for this awesome theme.

Read some of thread before flashing and further more making a whole new thread about an issue that is more then well known for that ROM or most leaked JB ROMs.
Joking aside, it really is a very known thing, you can disable hardware overlays in dev options through settings but it has its drawbacks if you do that.

There is no need to further look into it, if you stay on that ROM it'll have the flicker except for turning HW overlays. You can flash the JB sprint officially ported ROM, that has no flickering and IMO is more stable. Just read a little and you'll be fine.

[FYI] Finding "missing" downloaded zips in recovery

I ran into a problem, recently, trying to install a downloaded zip through TWRP. I believe the problem started after flashing the jb 4.2 Rom (cm 10.1) which, from what I understand, is a jb 4.2 thing, not a cm issue.
After downloading files I couldn't find out where they were once in TWRP. They are being stored in the following folder: /mnt/sdcard/0/download
Using a file explorer I moved the files to /storage/sdcard0/download and was able to flash through recovery.
I'm guessing there is a less tedious solution but I haven't figured it out.

I always knew that a second folder was created but there are now 3 separate folders for sdcard storage, all labeled very differently than one another.
Anywho, when I asked for help with this problem before no one answered the question. So I figured the exact folder location wasn't widely known.
