What does NFC DO ??

Just wondering... What's the reserved post for? (0.o)

I guess to post the answers he gathered. Though I would't recommend it this way...

What it does is read small amounts of data at very short range without the need to pair.
With NFC task launcher, you can write an NFC tag to make your phone do certain things when you scan that tag.

Android Beam in Jelly Bean.

I am really hoping that in the next update Google would included picture sharing through NFC. Do you think they will finally include this in the next update?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
You could have just asked this in one of the Jelly bean discussion threads.

Are you really missing out on that much with the inability to share photos via NFC?
How about S Beam, that's the feature I want.
But again there's a bigger more populated Jelly Bean thread this should be in.
Can we stop making more threads about Jellybean? There are already ones running.
NFC doesn't share pictures anyway. It acts as a matchmaker.

They certainly could. JB already includes wifi-direct, so all they would need to do is tap into that. Although I think it is just as gimmicky as Beam in general.

Bombarded with what? There are PLENTY of Jelly Bean threads and NFC does NOT share pictures. So yes, he was bombarded with the truth.

Android Beam allows apps to share all kinds of data. Day 2 of Google I/O will have a session on Beam and NFC discussing new APIs presumably to allow even more sharing of content through beam for app developers.
What kind of connection speed does NFC have anyway? I was pondering what kind of cool things I could do with a tablet and phone with NFC just today. Also I've yet to come across anybody else with a nexus to try out beam with yet.
104-424 kbps max is the standard.
NFC is only going to make the secure connection, the data will have to be transferred via wifi or bluetooth.

NFC is not necessarily used for the transfer but only to exchange data (like data telling the app where to get the object). For the user, they will not know whether the object was downloaded over the data connection or from the other phone.

Personally I don't think there are *enough* threads about JB. Moar! They sure beat the Make My Purchase Decisions For Me! and the There's An Insignificant Defect With My Phone! threads. And as noted above me, it don't matter if it gets sent over NFC or not, as the end user I wouldn't know the difference.

Not bad, cluttered. It's unnecessary for threads like this when there's already 10 others that have covered these questions. Also wouldn't it be more appropriate to ask this question in a thread full of people already talking about the topic, rather than making a whole new thread about one aspect of the topic?
Also look at your comment? How unnecessary is that? Rather than even say anything productive, you're making a condescending statement about the community.

Thanks....It is actually your Idea though...
No...NoteII is not officially released it but I have read here that it is available for pre-order online....
Is the 64 GB version going to be a release model, or will it release way later like it did with the S3?
Is there an SD card port?
How much is the SPen?
How mod friendly is the Note? By this I mean I suspect it's basically the same as the S3 but do the mods do a good job of incorporating the pen?
What are some good apps that are optimized for something like the Note as opposed to other android phones?

I think 64gb version will be released late as Sammy has been doing for ages...
Yeah....it has a external microsd cars slot.
Spen for note was around $100 here in India 3months back. But since note2 has a different spen,I suppose it can only be said when Sammy puts it on sale...
By mod,do you mean custom roms???if so,if the rom is based on stock rom,it will be fully compatible. But if the rom is AOSP,you will miss all features of spen but still you can use it as a normal stylus.
You can find all spen optimized apps in samsung's s-choice app.

Will Google Now be avaialble since the Note 2 will be running Jellybean 4.1? Or will S Voice be the only option avaialble since that is part of touch wiz?
Thanks

Change log for 4.1.2?

What features are we looking for? Have been searching around the internet but it appears that in every site there are some stuff that there arent in another. So I guess there are more features!
Any list availabe?
Thanks.
From the top of my head there's the toggles customizations which is nice. The 4.1.2 features expandable notifications with one finger and black status bar were taken out by Samsung, so aosp change logs won't be correct.

What does it tell you if an always up to date thread doesn't include something? Because logic would dictate that it probably didn't exist.

but as they said, there's enough information about this situation. and about a dozen threads on this particular situation.
current? it has been like this eversince Google closed up the exploit with JB (rooting) - and unlocking without usb needs root. you could have known this by the following links below:
