Review of the GrayBean Card reader-OTG USB Hub #GB-CR - Galaxy Note 10.1 Accessories

This is my review of the GrayBean multicard reader-OTG USB Hub Connection kit Model: GB-CR
The Graybean GB-CR is a multicard reader and USB hub which is shipped and sold by Seller1ON1 via Amazon.com. it lists for $13.26 and comes with a Blue mini capacitive pen which for us Note 10.1 users, is not needed. The description on Amazon states that it can be used on the following devices..
Samsung Galaxy tab P7300 / P7310 /P7500 / 7510
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch / 10 inch
and I can attest that it also works for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Packaging and Design
The device came in a plastic zip locked type of bag along with the mini blue capacitive pen.
Front and back of the package.
When I took the device out of the packaging I was actually surprised to see how small it is. The image on Amazon makes it look much larger. The dimensions of the unit are shown below.
Available ports
The available ports on the device are as follows...
1 SD card
1 TF card
1 MS card
1 M2 card
3 USB 2.0
1 DC Input 5V (3.5 1.35mm, 5V, 2A)
There is also a led light that turns on once you attach the device to the tablet.
Although in Amazon there is an image of the device with a power cord attached to it, (as shown below) the device does not come with any power adapter. (More on this later).
Uses and Testing
First let me state that I do not own any MM, M2, or TF cards, so I did not test those ports.
I inserted the Graybean into the Galaxy Note 10.1 and unlike cables and plugs from Samsung which have the Samsung name on top of the plug, the one from Graybean does not indicate which is the top of the plug. So you have to be careful to make sure that the plug notches are facing upward when pluging in the cable into the Note 10.1 otherwise you may damage the port on the tablet.
I proceeded to test the SD card. I inserted a microsd card into the usual SD card adapter and inserted it into the GrayBean.
Immediately the File Manager opens up and i see UsbDriveA. i select a video off of the sd card and it plays flawlessly and without studder.
I then wanted to try to see if I can use a mouse so i attahed the dongle from my Logitech Wireless Touchpad and it also immediately placed a cursor on the screen.
Considering that it has numerous USB ports, my next test was to see if another SD card can be attached.
As you can see from the image, both UsbDriveA and UsbDriveB show up in the file manager.
At this point I wanted to see if I can use a usb extended cable with the GrayBean.
I inserted the AmazonBasics usb extended cable and I was able to still access the sd card.
I was able to test three sdCards inserted in the GrayBean and all three showed up in the file manager.
A Note on External Power and Devices
As mentioned above, the GrayBean does not come with a power adapter. In the Amazon description it states 3.5mm outside / 1.35mm inside, 5V, 2A power port and locating a power adapter for the GrayBean is not easy. One buyer on Amazon mentioned the Enercell adaptaplug tip 'H" would fit the port, but trying to find the tip as well as the actual cable/adapter has been a bit hard.
I did manage to have bought a while back for my Dell laptop the BiXpower USB Port Power Cable that comes with 3 extra connector tips and which so happens to fit the GrayBean.
I did managed to attach an external usb hard drive and the file manager was able to read it, but the hard drive has to have its own power source and also be formatted to fat32, otherwise it won't be seen by the Note 10.1. since the device itself even plugging in a power source, will not power up anthing attach to it.
Conclusion
Its a very useful device that allows numerous sdcard and usb flash drives to be connected to it. Although I do not see myself carrying it around all the time, it will come useful on my desk. I only wish the manufacturer would have included a power adapter withit as well as make the power aactually power up the device (such as hard drives etc) that are attached to it.

Great review, but I'm unclear on something. With the power source connected to the hub, were you able to charge the Note 10.1? I bought the hub and it's tremendously useful. If I could charge the Note while this was plugged in I would definitely go buy a plug.

Aaahhhh... Now I see the big "Not for charging!!!" under technical specs. Thanks for the direction.

You're welcome.

My first one fit VERY tight when connecting it to my Note. The seller RMA'd me another and although it still is a bit tight it does not seem like it would damage the port.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge. Does this adapter take all 3 sizes of SDHC Cards without the use of SD adapters? Thank you.
EDIT: Answered my own question by reading the reviews on Amazon. It takes SD and MicroSD. No MiniSD. I just ordered one myself at $18 and price just popped back down to $14. Can't win sometimes.

Great review!
I've already ordered one of these as well (as a standard OTG tablet to female USB connector and a few more charging cables) through eBay. I'll give my thoughts when I receive it, but what appealed to me over the official Samsung OTG card reader, is that this one connects via a short cable, rather than attaching the device to the bottom of the tablet itself.

Could u connect an external dvd drive to it and see if it works and plays the dvd or something

+1 please test... mainly b/c i've been lookig at buying this here it would be amazing if it worked out of the box on the note 10.1

I bought my first Graybean Hub/CardReader from the same amazon vendor as noted in the first post here and it was not recognized by my Note 10.1 at all; no LED lights. I returned it and got another one. As least the second one is sporadically trying to connect (as if the connection is not secure). No LED lights and never got any notification in my file manager. The 30 pin connectors are really tight. Looks like I'm taking that one back too and exchange it for a 3rd one. Noting it each time in my Amazon product review.
Also, both of these received from Amazon/Gray Bean did not look new. There are many scratches on the plastic area of the 30 pin connector as well as the main section. Product package is not sealed by design- just ziplock. I would like to know if any of you are having or had the same issues right away or after using it a while. Or can you offer any advice? Thanks so much.

I got mine last week, but haven't been able to get it (or the straight OTG USB adapter I also bought) to work. In both cases, the OTG connector is properly recognized by my Note (the system reports a USB connection when I plug it in). But if I plug anything into the OTG connector (thumb drive, keyboard, mouse, SD card) it mounts and then immediately dismounts and then continually loops mounting and dismounting the plugged in device.
Haven't been able to figure out the problem (may be the ROM I'm running, or the fact I'm running a 800X ROM on a 801X device)?

Your post put me into action. I hadn't tested mine so got it out and it works fine, though it won't show more than one attachment at a time. That's a bit odd. Not going to mess with it right now, though.

What's strange is, when visiting the Graybean website, I cannot find this card reader.. I also noticed that there are no serial numbers attached to the actual product.

Took a jack hammer to get into my bag. Top was sealed above zip lock and couldn't rip it. Lights light and items show up in file manager. Only tried Samsung's so maybe that's why more than one at a time didn't show. My plate's pretty full today and don't have time to mess with much.

The N10 would have to be dipped in platinum and covered in rare gems for me to ever do that. Even then then I'd keep my GNote.

I tried to get hold of such a device on amazon.de, they don't have the item available. Amazon.com has it, but will not ship abroad :crying:
Investigating a little more on various sources, I came back to amazon.de, where I found a lookalike device (USB 2.0 Hub OTG Connection Kit + MS TF SDHC M2 Card Reader Kartenleser Adapter Kabel für samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1) for a reasonable price.
This unit comes with a powercord (which connects to any USB power supply), less pen (which I don't need anyway on the Galaxy Note 10.1) also the Galaxy plug is marked with a line on the upper side, so you don't have to try and break it.
Functionality is as described, alas the Galaxy Note does not recharge on the power from the hub :crying: which is what I had hoped for. Not sure if the thing can be modified to supply power to the Galaxy too. Any suggestions are welcome.
I don't upload photos, as the unit is exactly as on the pics above.
Thanks for the review, which made me aware of that option in the first place. :good:

USB data cable

Do any of you guys and gals know of an aftermarket cable that will work with the captivate. I lost the original one that came with the phone. Have since bought two different chargers, one from the att store (zero charger), and they charge the phone but don't put it on USB mode like the original one did when I plug it to a laptop.
Sent from my rooted Cappy.
All you need is a standard MicroUSB to USB cable. Make sure it's a standard cable, and not a "charge only" cable though.
A bit of advise, generally if you buy a cable that isn't a Samsung USB cable, you're going to have to take a razor blade to your new cable and cut away some of the rubber around the MicroUSB plug. You'll see that untrimmed, you might have a hard time getting the cable secured in the phone's port.
Thanks man. I actually just noticed the "charging only cable" written on the tag on the cable. Now I know what to look for. And you're right, the one I bought from a gas station was always popping out. The one from att fits like a glove though.
Sent from my rooted Cappy.
All it takes is a razor blade or something similar, and a few seconds. I use a bunch of generic USB cables which all have fat plug heads. Trimming a little of the rubber off and they all work perfect.
Weird, for some reason my original cable from ATT now is really loose, I have to like set the phone down a certain way to keep it charging/plugged in.
The only cables that now do fit snuggly are the ones from my external mini hard drives with the fat head, haha, I wonder why...my captivate still looks normal, can't figure it out.
I guess I should see if my normal cable fits with my externals or falls out of those too, if so it would be the cable. But it seems weird that the fat headed cables fit snuggly with my captivate, so that makes me think maybe its the captivate.
long winded stupid post, sorry.
i bought a blackberry cable from best buy... data and charging... 16 bucks. but when ever your puppy ate your data cable in the middle of the night and you're phone is at 30% battery, ya tend to pay for it...

Check out www all4cellular DOT com
They have the OEM Samsung Captivate (U.S./Edison) Wall Charger and USB Charging+Data Cable for $6.95 + $2 Shipping.
The item number is "eta0u60jbe". But this item # includes BOTH the USB Wall Charger (# ETA0U60JBE) AND the USB-to-Micro USB data/charging Cable (# ECC1DU2BBE)!
I bought two of these and they are EXACTLY like the original Charger and ~5ft. USB Cable that comes with the Captivate. They are OEM/Samsung-branded and labeled and are not Chinese-made knock-offs. I am in SoCal and received them within a few days of ordering.

I had similar issues, till I realized that the problem was with the sliding door for the microUSB port - make sure it is pushed all the way back (you may hear a click) - its only then that all my MicroUSB cables fit w/out any modifications to them.
as always YMMV.
hope that helps
I second the Monoprice.com recommendation. I buy ALL my cables there. The heads on their micro USB cables are too large to plug into the Captivate unmodified, but I used a Dremel to fix that.
Both of my Monoprice cables are going strong, in contrast with my OEM cable, which started out excellent, but is now so loose as to not maintain a connection unless the phone and cable are precisely arranged.

I have a 1009 model. Assuming that means it was manufactured Sept,2010. Now to find a microUSB
We have some micro USB 5' Cables coming in Monday. If they are like the sample they not only fit the Captivate properly, but when plugged into our new Car Plug ->USB (2100mA) adapter, my Captivate shows "Charging (AC) ".
We originally brought in the Hi-Power USB car adapter so iPad & Tablet customers could both run & charge at the same time. We have had enough request from customers looking to use it with Smart Phones, that I had to find the best matching cable.

Monoprice...ALWAYS!!
As mentioned, get your cables from monoprice. I mean, you just can't beat a usb cable for $2. If it needs trimmed, I usually just use a razor knife/box cutter to remove the bulk, and it works perfectly. I actually had to order a 25ft. VGA cable from them a couple of days ago...$8. Seriously. Definitely the cheapest place I've seen to buy cables.

You will probably get a lot of different opinions on this one. Most will likely be correct since there is no absolute right answer. I am a new user as well so I can share with you what I have or plan to get.
My Tab came with the Samsung pouch case which is fine but a bit inconvenient. Where do you put it when you pull the Tab out for use. I picked up one of the clip-style cases on eBay. It is very lightweight and functional.
I am going to gamble that Gorilla Glass is as tough as they say and not get a screen cover. I have, however applied a coat of Rain-X to help minimize the accumulation of fingerprints.
My device also came with the Samsung keyboard dock. This is a very nice device but not something you will probably take on the road. If you want a traveling keyboard, you might want to look into one of the integrated keyboard cases. Just remember, one of the great aspects to tablets is their light weight. Adding the mobile keyboard will double the weight.
I am still shopping for a do-it-all adapter cable. One day all tablets will come with USB, HDMI and card readers built in. I expect that I will need or want all of those connection options but right now, it does not appear that there is a plug-adaptor that offers all of those functions. The minimalist way to go is to get a USB cable or dongle which will allow you to plug in a variety of things. There is an interesting looking hub adapter on eBay that includes and SD reader and three USB ports. I have not yet heard reports from any actual users but for less $14 it might be worth giving it a try.
HDMI connectors remain elusive. The only ones that I have found so far require a 110V power connection in order to work. I am sure something will show up down the road.
One annoying thing about the Tab is the high amperage requirement for charging. Most car chargers put out far less than the 2A minimum that this device needs. USB ports on most computers are also underpowered for the Tab. If you travel, you will need a car charger. Just make sure that it will push enough current to charge your Tab.
If you are like me, the most important stuff that you will add to your new Tab will be Apps. There are many thousands of apps out there. Most seem to be games or less-than-useful apps that are not worth your time. There are, however a number of really useful apps out there that you will want to check out. Search this forum and others for opinions on that subject.
Hopefully you will find my observations helpful.
Bob
Hmm...there aren't a lot of them
Today I just bought the Samsung Galaxytab 10.1 USB adapter at Bestbuy for $19.99. At first I thought it was only for connecting a USB thumb drive but I found later it can be used for much more. In fact I tried using a Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Unifying adapter. It works flawless, in fact the response of the keyboard was spot on, if the unifying wireless adapter works I'm sure the mouse would too. The USB thumb drive works like a charm as well. I also bought the Dock for the Tab, Bestbuy doesn't sell the one with the HDMI output but does sell this one with the 3.5mm Lineout for audio and charging adapter at the back. The dock is connected to the 30pin adapter and can be charged and also have the USB dongle attached at the back for convenience. Bestbuy also has the Targus leather case stand for it, it's fairly thick material with a nice leather like microfiber interior to help in protecting the tab from scratches, it also doubles as a nice stand with three positions. All three products for just under 100 bucks. By the way the Dock was 34.99 and the case I believe was 39.99.
thanks for the replies. still looking for more help/links.

One drawback... you cannot charge the Tab when using the adapters.
Just got 'DigitalsOnDemand 15-Item Accessory Bundle for New Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi / 3G 4G LTE 16GB 32GB'
Includes: DigitalsOnDemand Black TPU Skin Case, Crystal Clear Case, Premium DigitalsOnDemand Leather Case with Kick Stand, Screen Protector, Adjustable Reading Book Light, Earphones with mic, Earphone Splitter, AUX Cable, Wall Charger Adapter, Car Charger Adapter, USB Sync Cable, Retractable USB Data Cable, Fishbone, DigitalsOnDemand Drawstring Travel Pouch, Black Stylus Pen
Cables, earphones and adapters work fine. I honestly bought the bundle just for the extra cables and adapters, so was pleasantly surprised that the cases look all fine. Loved the leather case (not used the other two till now). The stylus is nothing great, but is a nice extra in the package. Have not tried the screen protector as I feel there is no need for it. All in all an excellent buy for just below $60.
The USB adapter came free with my tab. So check before you by one.
I forgot to mention that I also ordered 'New Trent iGeek IMP99D 9900mAh External Battery Pack Dual USB ports' I got it on cyber Monday for $40.95 now it's $61.95 (still down from list price of $ 129.95). The battery is compatible with Tablet PCs with 5V/2A input (Ipad 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, HTC flyer). This will take care of battery issues in my mobile devices. The product name includes the amazon link and here is their own website http://www.newtrent.com
It's still with a friend of mine in US, so will get it only next month. Will give a full review once I receive it in India. However I am already happy with recommending them, as the customer service is out of this world. There were some problems with the order by credit card. They immediately contacted me. The owner self spoke with me and immediately solved all issues.
thanks a bunch. i will check to see what all is included before i buy anything extra...also i have thought of buying one of those battery packs before, but never pulled the trigger due to price and not the greatest reviews on some of them....some say they work great at first, then dont hold a charge or explode or whatever.
I had similar concerns, as I read some very negative reviews on some external battery packs. I bought this model, because I read very good reviews about this company and got it for an very enticing US$ 40.95. The website also specially mentioned that it is compatible with Tablet PCs (iPad 2, SamSung Tab 10.1, and HTC flyer) and it weighs only 250g. The 11000 mAh would have been 285g.
It includes
IMP99D external battery pack (9900mAh)
USB cable for charging Cell phone device
One USB cable for charging Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
MiniUSB adapter for Blackberry
MicroUSB adapter for Blackberry and HTC Androd, Moto Droid
AC Wall Outlet plug with voltage range 100V-240V suitable for worldwide travelers

[Q] OTG Cable stopped working on Galaxy Note 2

So I've had my OTG cables (eBay/Amazon) for quite some time now. A couple of days ago it just stopped working. I was using it to transfer files from thumb drive to/from the phone. My buddy has the exact phone I do Galaxy Note 2 and both cables I have work fine on his phone but not on mine? Phone detects that the OTG is inserted with the usual "USB Connector Connected" notification but when a USB memory stick is inserted it will not show the "USB MASS Storage" notification and I can't see the memory stick in file manager. Occasionally (1 in 20 tries) and after a reboot, it will see the stick and allow me to explore the contents. I have tried 2 different cables that used to work fine with my phone and several USB sticks that also used to work and still do work on my buddies phone.
All other functionality of the phone remains perfect as it is fairly new. Charging through USB works fine, transferring data from USB to PC also works fine. I have looked into the port with a magnifying glass and it is clean and shows no signs of debris or pocket lint and the cable has a good feel when it is inserted. Positive click.
I tried to do a restore factory settings today and still it's totally hit and miss with either OTG cable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wow 60 views and not one suggestion. Guess this must not be a common thing at all.
I just tried it and works fine for me. Maybe try a different rom or custom kernel and see if it works then...I really dont have any suggestions

You said you tried the cables on your buddies phone but have you tried different cables on your phone?
Also this might help you.
Its meant for the gs3 but i can confirm works great on my n2. I see the dev has updated the op and others are saying the same.

:silly: "Bonk on the head!" I just remembered that several weeks ago while using a 2-port cigarette lighter to charge my Note 2 and iPad at the same time resulted in a funny burning smell. I took apart this charger (Amazon) and it was fried and melted on inside and obviously was of questionable quality. I guess at the time I didn't think anything of it because both the iPad and GN2 work and charge and sync perfectly well.
I've ordered a replacement charging port. Looks dead simple to change and phone itself looks much easier to take apart than the iPhone was. I found a site that sells the OEM charge port. I picked up an extra headphone jack as well since they are cheap. Yesterday while phone was charging in car, it woke up several times with the sound indicating a charger had been plugged in even though the cable was already plugged in securely.
I have also purchased the OEM Samsung OTG USB cable that was available for the Galaxy S2. I realize that the GN2 micro USB port has 11 pins but from what I have read the extra pins are for MHL HDMI output and there is no 11 pin OTG cable in existence but the port on the GN2 is backward compatible with 5 pin USB OTG.
Fixed
Today I pulled the phone apart and fixed the charging port USB OTG problem. Both cables that I have now are in working state.
This repair was VERY easy and took about 15min. with proper tools.

Please let me know how you fixed it. I am facing this same issue for past 2 weeks. Is it a hardware problem?

OP said it was a hardware issue for him. OP said replacing the small pc board and ribbon cable with the Micro USB port on it fixed the issue for him. I have replaced the USB port on my wife's Note 2 in the past (for a different reason, that is stopped charging.) It is a relatively easy repair, if you have the correct tools. You have to take the phone completely apart to replace the board, so you will need the small plastic tool to separate the bezel, as well as a small screw driver. There are walk through videos available.
If you decide to try this, avoid buying a cheap part. I bought a replacement part for about $5.00 from an e-bay supplier, but the company sent me two of them, and neither one worked. I bought a good one from and would recommend ETradeSupply out of Texas. That link is for the exact part. You will also pay for shipping, but it will be a good part. You can also buy the tools you need there if you want.

Lapdock 100 External Monitor Problems

I recently purchased a lapdock 100 with the intention of using it as a monitor. I bought the female micro hdmi to hdmi adapter and the female to female hdmi adapter. From what I understand after this it should be plug and play, but it's not getting detected by any devices. Any help? Did I overlook a power button or something?
I believe there's some power logic inside the Lapdock that might be getting in the way. I'm not sure what you're trying to hook it up to, but this article on hooking a Raspberry Pi to a Lapdock 100 might help: http://rpidock.blogspot.com/2012/05/raspberry-pi-and-motorola-lapdock.html

Thanks for replying.
I got some more symptoms of my issue. I plugged it into my hdmi port on my desktop (Before I used my tablet and it didn't detect it) and my computer detects it, it's just the lapdock that doesn't want to turn on. However, occasionally I might see a red flash on the led, when this happens and I press the button, the display turns on! Unfortunately it only lasts for about 10 seconds before shutting off again, and from there I have to wait until the led decides to flash red once again to get 10 seconds more of screentime.
I decided to try something else. I got my micro hdmi female to micro hdmi male cable in the mail today. When I plug my phone into the usb port, the laptop automatically turns on. Unfortunately the display turns off still after about 10 seconds. If I close the lapdock and reopen it the screen will come on once again. So now I can actually decide when I can turn it on, but it's useless due to how long it lasts.
Do you think I just happened to get a bad laptop? I ordered it online at AT&T, I'm not sure if they even have an extra to replace for me, and I don't think Motorola does either.

The prevailing conclusion seems to be that Motorola has included some authentication logic in the newer Lapdocks to prevent exactly this. The old Atrix Lapdocks seem to work just fine as dumb HDMI displays, though. Rather a **** move from them, seeing as how they discontinued the program and my expensive Lapdock is currently a paperweight.
Try this one. Might answer your question http://www.robpol86.com/index.php/Atrix_Lapdock_Other_Uses

Seems like you're right. Since I missed my AT&T return window by one day I had to send it to Motorola because I thought there was an issue with it. Well I finally got it back today and it's the same lapdock, apparently nothing was wrong with it. Seems like I wasted $50
I got it working!
Looks like you need the usb part connected too. I had a female micro usb to male usb plugged into my phone from the start of all this but it didn't work, but I decided to spend $2 on a micro usb to usb converter and plugged it into my computer. The trackpad and keyboard works on my computer and the screen doesn't shut off after a couple of seconds!
Here's what I ordered (Mine came with a chunk of the plastic melted and scratched, so I'd recommend avoiding the retailer "likeelectronic Ship FM Hongkong")

This is what I already had

Just ordered a gen samsung keyboard for tab2

Hi I own a note 10.1 2012 model and bought a genuine samsung keyboard k12 I think but the size and pins are the same so my question is will it work on the note 10.1 I, m aware that the k14 is the correct model number for the note, but the tab 10.1 keyboard is much cheaper and still available. I will get it by monday so fingers crossed it will work fine? Your thoughts please?
Jay
I believe that the Note 10.1 is too big to fit into that keyboard dock unfortunately.

Really? I thought the tab2 10.1 and note 10.1 was same size all round?
No you are right note case is about 10mm wider I've canceled the order thanks for the quick reply it saved me time and money glad I joined this forum now!
Many thanks link6155 for the heads up?
I just wondered I have a docking station and if I got a double headed cable linking to keyboard to docking station then stick the note on top of the docking station would it pick up the keyboard?

Since they both have the same number of pins, I think it would work, but I could be wrong. I have a HDMI dock designed for the Tab 7.0. At first, my Note 10.1 wouldn't fit into the tray since it was designed for the Tab 7.0, however, once I cut the whole front side off and trimmed the side down, it worked flawlessly with my Note 10.1

There is always some kind of modding that works well shame we have to resort to getting around the individual 30Pin system
I bought the EDD-D100BE docking station awhile back because I couldn't decide whether to go blue tooth keyboard and use the dock.
I didn't fancy paying the £50 odd pounds for a K14 either.
I like the K14 for only one reason it won't drain out the battery from blue tooth being on. But then again there is no battery compartment for the keyboard either??
Looks like I can buy a female 30 pin to 30 pin male so in theory the female 30 pin should plug into the cheap K12 keyboard then the male end plugs into the docking station and the Note 10.1 sits nicely on the docking station 30 pin?
£5.00 for the cable
£19.00 for the K12?
Total= £24.00 half the price of a K14. Its a long winded way of getting around this problem which leads me back to a generic Bluetooth keyboard, but it can be charged whilst on a docking station plugged into the charger?
I've ordered a OTG female USB cable for the docking station and I'm going to try it with my Logitech keyboard or mouse first.
I can see in reality you would only spend that kind of money if you typed a lot, but I can see majority most people who have bought a K14 doesn't really use it that much?
i have a genuine samsung keyboard for a tab 10.1 and it don't fit my note 10.1 i was looking at getting one of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190890800981?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
or just get my dremil out and file out 5mm from each side of the keyboard.
I could Carol but Dremeling a brand new not fitting keyboard seems just wrong LOL!
It would be risky to stress that small adapter point it could break?
I've found a possible solution to my needs .
I found a dedicated three port USB 2.0 adapter for the note 10.1
The difference on this one is there is a small charge port (DC5V) that has an external power supply to feed any portable devices like flash drives or keyboards. The problems with the current adapters seems to me that if it uses the note's power directly it will not recognise the device as it draws too much power from the Note so if there is a external power source actually on the USB adapter it should just pick up data passes instead?
Here is what I'm considering
Sorry cant post link so will give you Egay id no.
eBay item number:
200868036002
The only thing I would like to know is will the Note only pick up one device at a time if I have three USB ports connected to it?
It would be nice to run a USB keyboard and mouse at the same time using an external 5V power supply and not drain out the Note?
i have done it i removed the black surround and cut away the bottom section and it works needs a bit of trimming.
the keyboard i used was a uk one as it has the £ sign on the number 3 button all the one's on ebay don't
have that.

Nice modding can't hardly see the cuts guessing a bit of light sanding with dremel and it would look OEM! :good:
My USB OTG connector came and very happy.
I've tested my Logitech anywhere MX mouse and work a treat!
The Logitech(EX110) keyboard works well.
The SD card reader picks up all is good (scan disk)
The set up now is the note is on the docking station and the 30pin connection is connected to the USB and all works well together!
I don't need to buy a mouse or keyboard anymore as I can use the desktop ones aswell £3 well spent!
Did try the flash drive and external hardrive and demands too much power for connection, but I'll buy that three USB self powered one for testing next and see if it will work?
Just found an old hub and testing went well dual keyboard and mouse working perfectly also recognises the SD card reader to boot!
