[Q] Not able to move Apps to the SD card - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I bought the Note 10.1 with 16 GB memory thinking that I will be able to move the APPS to the external 32 GB memory I had installed. However APP2SD tells me that "the device does not have a real primary external storage or the primary storage is emulated".
I set the install location as 2 through the SDK adb devices command prompt screen. Still I am not getting the option to transfer the APPS to the SD card.
Can someone tell me whether this option can be activated or is it blocked by Samsung. I am able to transfer the APPS to external storage in my HTC Desire phone with ICS update

oh wow, apps2sd doesn't work on the Galaxy S3.
I hope that's not the case for the GN2. Can anyone else confirm?
On my Note 1, I'm currently using Directory bind: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
to move stuff off that apps2sd doesn't work with, but it requires root.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/treat-your-sd-card-as-your-real-external-storage-with-swapsd/
is another option, but I'd hate to use that. Internal memory should be much faster than external card memory.

Wrong forum?
Take a look in the note 10.1 forum, under Galaxy Note 10.1 Android Development. There are 2 guides how to move your apps to sd. Though you need root for both i suppose!

And that is the exact reason Google doesn't want OEM's to include expandable storage. When apps are moved to the SD card, they are unable to sync correctly with the OS. SD cards will be a thing of the past within 2 years...

Unable to apps to micro sd card.

I have the GN2, and I can confirm that moving apps to the sd card is not possible. Is there some other program that's needed in order to make moving apps to the sd possible? And advice would be much appreciated.

Instead of starting another thread, I would also like to know the answer to this as I just received my note 2 and I cannot move apps to sd card.

i noticed that too... i wanted to move some of the apps to the sd card but it doesn't have the move to sd card option...

Unfortunately it is not possible. I had the same problem after only 10 days. I am forced to uninstall apps to instaln new ones! Very annoying. Check that your photos are are saved to the SD card (from inside the camera). You can also regularly delete photos you do not want and make sure other camera apps you have installed save to sd. If you have Spotify or any other streaming music service that lets you save playlists for offline use make sure they save to sd.
This sd issue is a big misstake by Google/Samsung which can only have a negative affect on Android developement.
Regarding rooting. I'm going to wait. I don't want to lose any of the functions that I have, such as S-Planner widget or S-Pen functionality.
Yes You can't move application to SD card on Note2.
Try moving data like Pic,video, music etc to Ext SD card.
Another possibilities is get your device rooted ad use directory bind to move application data to Ext SD card
@Dmwitz
Rooting won't disable any function. except sometime OTA/Kies updates.

[Q] How to move apps to external sd card?

I have the Samsung Galaxy SII T989. It's rooted with Chameleon rom on it. How can I move the apps to my external sd card and not my internal sd card. The internal sd card is 11.5GB and my external sd card is 29.5gb. When I try to move apps from like Link2SD, etc. It installs them to my internal and not my external.
Use titanium back up to move to SD card. There's a move to SD card option, to PROVE it works here's some screenshots from 5 seconds ago lol

I already tried Titanium Backup and still doesn't work. If I try going into settings and click 'Move to SD Card" it moves it into the internal storage. Its acting like the internal storage is the sd card. I posted few screen shots in to what I'm trying to say. When I plug my phone into my pc, it does show up my internal storage and my external sd card separate.

Well that's the same for most phones. I have the main memory in my phone. Then the internal sd card, along with external, there's no way to choose where is there? Couldn't you just use root browser go into system apps and move the apk to your SD card? I've done that before, worked good for me. Or use clean master and move it. I've done all of the above across almost every manufacture. I've worked with sisters LG's my HTC, dads samsung, friends moto, and all those methods have worked perfect I will see if I can find anything tomorrow, lol gotta be up in like 5 hours xD

I have the same issue. I have a galaxy s4 with cyanogenmod 11. There is no option to move to SD card. Any tips?

I myself run cm 11.... In the menu when you're looking through all apps, if you click on it there should be a option to move it. Or at least for me there is....

[Q] External SD Card as internal storage

Don't flame me to bad for starting a thread on this.
Ok I Picked up a note 4 DE, did the sd card fix so apps like titanium and root explorer and what not can access and actually use the 128 GB micro sd card I picked up specifically for the phone, but that still leaves things to limited because anything I would download or some of the other apps I use has other data to go along with the app and fill up the FAKE sd card in essence making the 128 sd card useless and I shouldn't have to always move something that will only download to the FAKE sd card from there to the REAL sd card, or give my private data to google, they can call the NSA if they want it that bad, and I'm not going to make it easy for google to farm my data for the NSA either.
I've been searching and searching on how to swap the two around so the phone thinks the REAL sd card is the FAKE sd card so the phone works the way it's supposed to.
I've edited the vold.fstab file before in a tablet I had, to swap the two storages around, which worked, but vold.fstab file for the tablet had two entries in it for the mount points for the FAKE and REAL sd cards, but the note 4 only has one mount point showing in the vold.fstsab file and I've tried looking but I can't find what block the the mount points are on, I've used terminal and see that /dev/block/vold/179:65 seems to be the extSdCard but don't see anything for the emulated sd card.
and the app External 2 Internal that used init.d to make the swap is no longer available on the market??? Besides if I was going to go that route I wouldn't load another app to do it.
So does anyone here know how to go about what I'm trying to accomplish here for the note 4? Able to refresh my memory; am I doing it right to find the mount points for the storage? Can Direct me to a guide that will work for our notes? Or has already done this and has a proven method? I've spent many hours reading and searching this out and this being my first Samsung device I'm not to familiar with them coming from HTC and I'm not to versed on this kitkat either, I don't have the time I once had to dig in and keep as up to date on things.
Thanks in advance for any and all that can help me out with this.

SD card corruption when moving apps

Every time I move apps from my device to my SD card, my card is corrupted and can't be read, either by my Note or a pc. I have to reforemat and then all is good again (except for the stuff I lost). It seems that truly, the only thing the SD card is good for, is media.
Has anyone else had this issue? Is it just me?
I'm using a SanDisk 32g card in an unrooted Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition running 4.4.2
Thanks

Im pretty sure you cant move apps to sd card anymore cause google changed a whole bunch of things with kit kat and they want you to use cloud storage. If you were rooted there are apps that you can use to do that. I have 128gb card with all my apps and data on cause im rooted and use a app called folder mount.. you can search around but im pretty sure im right.

I still think that with kit kat they changed permissions but here are my opinions. Maybe SD card is corrupted . Does the SD card work on anything else? Maybe try to reformat it. Did you buy on internet? It could be fake. I had bought a original SanDisk on ebay but it was a bootleg one and it worked fine for a while then I kinda had same problem as you are having. After getting one from best buy no problem since.

Here is just something i found real quick on internet. Its located here http://www.makeuseof.com/answers/can-free-space-phone-running-android-kitkat/
There are many different things that you can try to do in order to reduce wasted space, but the limitations are great, especially after 4.0.4. Most, if not all, Android phones are not allowed to move apps to an external SD card, or in some cases, even the internal SD storage that may be partitioned off for user storage (separate from phone storage usage used by the system and apps). This is a major issue on phones that have a small amount of internal storage space, such as 4 or even 8GB. There is a way to enable the movement of apps to the SD card, but the phone must be rooted, the SD card must have two primary partitions, and apps like Apps2SD III or Links2SD should be used (unless you are comfortable i
The Move to SD in the app manager is actually still moving to a sectioned off portion of space within your internal memory.
It sounds like this might not be properly mounted.

[Q] tab 3 (T210) - playstore to ExtSHoping someone can help

hoping someone can help. I have a tab 3 T210 running 4.4.2. Its rooted. I wanted to know if theres a way to set apps/games downloaded from playstore direct to ext sd card. Internal memory is small and fills up. I have a 32gb ext sd card and want to use it. already used folder mount to improve it. But hope a way to download direct to ext sd to save more space
1. Wrong category.
2. Nope there isnt a way. The best way is FolderMount really.
Folder mount is great for storing the files on yr extSdcard and able to save space, ive used it for years..
Try Apps2Sd or
Links2sd
I think these are what your looking for
Moved to correct board
