You could try Llama. It scans the cells around you in a fixed period of time, determining where you are. It works if you stay in an environment where you the people around you do not change much. Like work or school. It can do many actions and IMO its very useful.
Some of my settings are:
*Home
-Turn on Wi-Fi for 5 minutes and turn of if not connected
-Change to Sound Mode
-After 11pm:
#Turn Wifi off
#Change to vibrate mode
I hope this helped you

[Q] Automatic toggle 3G <-> 2G when screen off

Hi,
does anyone know an app which provides the discribed service or similar? Currently I use Extended Controls to switch manually.
Thanks a lot und best regards,
martin
I tried to do it with Tasker, but it can only turn off data completely and not turn down to 2G. Any ideas?
U should try an app called cpu tuner. Be sure to be rooted so u can take full advantage of this app. You can set all kinds of power saving profiles.

Unfortunately, Android does not support an automatic toggle between 3G and 2D so, until now, this is not possible.

Martin

I have 3g Widget that I got from the market that seems to do what you're looking for.

Thx, but this app diables the complete data transfer only. I was looking for an automated switching between 2G and 3G to use the low bandwidth 2G data for push services while the screen is turned off.

martin

Data connection automatic timeout

Hi, on my HTC Touch Pro 2, I used the NRG roms and they always came with a software that was able to disconnect the data connection after a certain amount of time that I allocated. This stopped the phone always being connected to the internet. Is there such a software that AUTOMATICALLY does the exact same thing for android Samsung GSii? APNDroid doesn't do this because you have to do select it manually, I need something that does it automatically. Thanks.

Neither of those programs does what I have asked. I want the data connection to automatically stop after a specific amount of time.
Juice Defender can also make this job very good.

Cell standby consumption

Hey guys, just got my new play and loving it. However no matter how much I use it, the cellular standby ALWAYS consumes more battery life than display. That includes playing hours of final fantasy games on it. And yes I do have juice defender set to aggressive. So Whats the deal here? Cheers!

Juice defender gave me worse battery life than without it. I would recommend putting a shortcut to your settings on a home screen and turning off data manually instead. JD eats CPU cycles and thus uses unnecessary battery power.

Go into settings, wireless and networks, then tap mobile networks. Go to network operators and change the search mode from automatic to manual problem solved

[Q] what app can do screen off auto turn to 2G,screen on turn back to 4G?

I want to save battery life ....
I do not know about the app but there is one problem. Sometimes I download large files and i do not want to keep my screen awake all the time. But if it switches the connection to 2g from 3g (or vica versa) it disconnects for one second and the download fails.. So that could be a problem for downloading large files.

Juice defender can do that I think. Haven't tried it myself I don't use that app anymore, but I believe there was an option in it to toggle between 3g and 2g. However, you have to have root access and a kernal/rom that supports it. Stock kernals don't support allowing you to switch between 2g to 3g without doing it manually yourself through the settings, so you probably need to find a custom one that does.
Im using easy battery

You'll need a mod ROM to get full use of Tasker for battery improvement. Stock ROM doesn't allow 2G/3G switching.
I understand that CM10 allows this.
Someone should confirm, as I've stuck to rooted stock rom in SIII and plan to keep the same on Note II.

Automatic Settings for Nexus 4 ?

Been trying to find an App for changing settings automatically mostly based on events and location.
I used "Llama" and "Settings Profiles" but they don't seem to work correctly with JB.
Tried other apps too, most of them simply unable to change Bluetooth, WiFi or GPS among other issues...
I'm trying to avoid Tasker App or any other battery drainer App...
I use NFC tags but I also need some automatic functions triggered by events such as Bluetooth connection or Battery status.
Can anyone recommend such an app ?

Try locale. You can find it on play!

Yup locale is good
Llama have a jelly bean compatible version on their site, I use it everyday!

Have been using Automate it Pro for a while. Minimal battery drain. Not too sophisticated, but all those events (NFC, location, battery etc) u wanted are there.

Tasker drains battery? This is news. It must be something you set that is constantly pooling GPS.
I use it all day for location stuff and its not even on the list.
Edit: to be able to modify GPS etc. Check out secure settings.

Try Easy Profile Pro, IMHO the best app for auto settings based on events.
I use Tasker without any problems along with NFC Task Launcher. Don't know about battery drain because the app only launches tasks when using NFC tag. Did a post showing how I set up my Nexus 4 with Tasker. www.darrenrichie.co.uk
Hopefully you may get some ideas from it.
