Download the newest radio driver in the "Index" thread in the dev section. Then flash it in CWM 2.5.x.x
The latest ends with '20.10'
To get temp. CWM use the update1.zip in the 'Index' thread or use Rom manager to install CWM 2.5.x.x and reboot to recovery by rom manager.

all steps
open rom manager
-menu: all recovery

I think if you have a backup of a ROM with working GPS, it is easier and you know works to restore the rom, turn on the GPS (I turn on all connections) to enter in recovery and flash again CM7.

hi everyone, I also have similar issue.
at first gps doesn't work at all, and after flashing radio 20.10 with android flasher
now the gps icon in status bar appear when I open google maps or gps test.
well, today is cloudy but it seems that the gps is not locking or even seeing any satellite.
I wonder if my gps is actually still not working or this is different issue?
I just root my phone last night and this is my first flashing experience with wildfire so I don't have any backup rom..
I tried gps patch to modify gps.conf but I don't see any improvement..

It's just the cloudy sky.
Go out when the skies are clear and just let the gps lock your own location once.
After that, it will start working smoothly.

hm, basically to apply any of that patch you only have to copy the files to /system/etc in your phone..
if you download one of the patch in that thread, you will get .zip file containing gps.conf and SuplRootCert (if exist).
there are various ways to copy those files such as using ES File Explorer, Root Explorer, or other similar apps.
but personally I used terminal emulator.
1. copy those files to a folder in your sd card
2. open terminal emulator and type

Basically it is a patch to speed up the AGPS (with active connection) and it works I tried it with the GPS STATUS application
some useful sections of tread:
Confused with all the options below? As the Notes section dictates: I recommend the GOOGLE BUILD of all devices. Other builds have changes in their SUPL server information and/or other variables pertinent to that manufacturer. These builds do not appear to operate as fast as Google build's but are available for your enjoyment.
Method 3 (easiest if you use a compatible version of CWR or CWM)*:
1. Download the patch
2. Boot into CWR (Clockwork Recovery)
3. Mount /system/ partition (on the main menu, select the "Mounts and storage" option, then "mount /system")
4. Flash the patch (on the main menu, select "Install zip from sdcard," then "choose zip from sdcard," and find the zip and select it)
If you receive "(Status 0) Installation aborted" this Method will not work for you. Use one of the other methods.
5. Reboot the device
6. Review the NOTES section.

the initrd and the zimage on the sd card is needed for CW or its a zimage files for your zip rom?
its question becouse you write its gauner kernel from HDrom, and he have in gauner hd rom 0.3 kernel with OC to 1113mh... can i replace the zimage from the sd card with this one and its allready replace in system?

the zImage on the SD is for CWM recovery, not the ROM, the zImage for the rom is in the boot partition on the NAND

Too many steps: Include the edited updater-script, su, Superuser.apk in the update.zip

You've flashed a boot.img that enables adb remount (Xoom WiFi (MZ604) Root!!, custom kernels, etc.)
You've flashed ClockworkMod Recovery (thanks, bigrushdog, koush, et al)
You've installed a physical SDCard in your Xoom (required for ClockworkMod Recovery updates) and have it functioning properly
You've configured the Android SDK on your PC, with adb functioning properly
You've downloaded fastboot and have it functioning properly (usually alongside adb in platform-tools)
You've installed an archive program that lets you edit the contents of an existing ZIP file (7-Zip, WinRAR, etc.)
You've downloaded and unzipped the edited updater_script file attached to this post

Prepare the Android 3.1 Update file
The update file as-provided is not ready for use in ClockworkMod Recovery. This fixes it. I could just include a link to a prepared update.zip file, but this is safer than trusting some dude with less than 20 posts on XDA. I'll upload one when I hit 25.
Rename the Android 3.1 Update file to update.zip
Open the zip file in an archive program for editing
Navigate to the following directory: META-INF/com/google/android
Delete the following file: updater-script
Copy the updater-script file from the ZIP file attached to this post to META-INF/com/google/android
Flash stock system.img
Prior to performing the actual update, the update script checks a number of files (including bcm4329.ko, which is usually built with the kernel) in /system. If any file doesn't match what's expected, the update halts. Flashing the stock system.img ensures a smooth update.

In ClockworkModRecovery (still on the "USB Mass Storage device" screen) select "Unmount"
In the "Mounts and Storage Menu" screen, if the option "unmount /sdcard" is present, continue to the next step; if "mount /sdcard" is present, select it then continue
Select "+++++Go Back+++++"
Select "apply update from sdcard"
Select "Yes - Install /sdcard/update.zip"
"Install from sdcard complete." will indicate that the update is completed.

Select "reboot system now"
New bootloader will install. The message, "Congratulation! Your bootloader was successfully upgraded" will be immediately followed by an automatic reboot.

Custom kernels: As of 0730 11 May 2011, there are no kernels/boot.img that are compatible with the Android 3.1 update, though the devs are undoubtedly on it. Do not flash a custom kernel after performing this procedure unless you know that it's compatible with the 3.1 update.
Recovery: updater_script v03 no longer flashes stock recovery. If you ran a previous version of the update, please see this post by Berzerker on getting ClockworkMod Recovery to persist (thanks, Berzerker)

Yeah, I had Tiamat installed and all my userdata stayed.
I'm currently trying to see if I can flash the latest Tiamet back to see what happens.

I created an update.zip that you can flash in CWM.
After that you just need to install OpenVPN Settings from the market and add your config files.
if you want to know what exactly will happen then you can open the following file in the zip:

OpenVPN needs tun.ko in the kernel from what I understand so I'm not sure the stock kernel supports it..

Well I installed it and started up OpenVPN and it doesn't complain over a missing tun.ko. So I would assume I am in the clear.
Is there anyone using OpenVPN with SIPdroid? My OpenVPN connection is working (via 3G I can access the modem configuration screen of my homenetwork by simply entering the local ip in the browser on my phone), but SIPdroid won't connect. I see the red dot, sometimes it goes to the yellow dot (trying to reconnect), but never the green dot (connection established).

I'd previously installed OpenVPN and settings app and got it reporting a connection without the tunnel and IP address actually being present. This works fine with my same config and keys!

you need to reboot to recovery (ClockWorkMod) and flash the update.zip attached to the first thread like you would flash a rom (but without wiping offcourse )

So you mean I have to flash the SGS2 like at the rooting proceedure?
- copy the zip file on your internal sdcard (/sdcard)
- reboot to recovery
- select "install zip from sdcard"
- select "choose zip from sdcard"
- now select the file and flash it
- reboot and you should be all set

you need root for ovpn settings anyway and all needed (beside proper tun.ko) are proper symlinks to busybox
so wouldnt it be enough to make an app where oyu enter path to BB and do all symlinking?
btw - no the tun.ko dont have to be compiled in the kernel - thats what insmod is for - linux you know *g*

Make sure you have fastboot mode if not please refer to this guide for fastboot but there is a fastboot checker in option 6 but it won't install fastboot for you.

Instructions on how to install Permanent CWM Recovery:
1. Make sure stericson-busybox is installed
2. Put XT320_bootmenuV2.zip in the root of your sdcard
3. Reboot into fastboot mode by typing this command in cmd:

4. Then type this command in cmd:

fastboot boot recovery.img
5. Then use volume keys to navigate and power button to select option. Select install zip from sdcard, then select XT320_bootmenuV2.zip and select yes to install the zip file
6. Then reboot device by selecting reboot device now.
CWM 6 has a bug where it asks you to 'disable recovery flash' when you select reboot system now make sure you select NO or you will soft brick your device.

The root process worked for me. Now i can install link2sd and set up a swap partition.
I cant install TWRP and i think the reason is that the bat was having some problem to send that bootmenu.tar file to my sd card. I tried to send that file myself before starting the entire process and it didnt worked.
I took a picture of the error i'm getting . Thank you again, i was really mad about that low internal space xD

Ok, I've made a fixed script here. The error was that the sdcard is a directory so it will refuse to push files into it.
Here's the updated script below. Just put the .bat file in the same place as the other files.

Btw, my gsm network wasnt working after the root process. If the same thing happens to someone else, just do a master reset and it will work again.

That sdcard copy part is working now. The TWRP process is still not working for me. I tried to do myself the commands using the adb interface and when i use the command to intall the tar, i got the message 'tar: no space left on device" . I hope you can help me with that and i'm sorry about all this questions xD .

You must have more than 5MB free in your /system partition. Please move your apps to the /flex partition or delete the useless apps in /system.

Yes but it sometimes gets unstable so you should overclock to 700MHz which is the highest I got without reboots. pll2_l_val=73 gives you 700MHz.

It worked for others but in your situation the only thing I can advise is to do a data wipe and relfash SBF file. Just go to Guitwo2's there to install permanent CWM.

Hi, it's me again... i have a new trouble
i installed the xt320_bootmenu.zip (from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2229233) the first time that i rebooted works fine, but the on the second reboot it doesn't work, then i went to data to check if test.log was there and here's the problem... no test.log...
init.d was working fine until that i did it, i guess that my phone have troubles making work init.d
some solution for this annoying guy? thanks in advance!

Looks like 97bootmenu deleted itself, please reinstall the CWM zip again and it should work.

Anyone wanting to root there Ascend P1 U9200 phone after the new firmware update, here are the files, and info you need, to do so...
First off, plug UR phone in switch it on and let Windows search for the driver, Then click "Let me choose..." or "browse for it..." or similar. Then select "Let me choose which driver to install", then click "list of drivers" or similar, Then click the one near the top that has adb or similar in the title, it don't matter if you choose the wrong one, it just means it wont connect and you'll have to redo this part again and pick a different driver.
Remember!! You MUST run these commands as Administrator.
1. Download the files below, extract them to a folder, preferably one without any spaces in the path, i.e.. C:\U9200Root\ should do perfect.
3. Right Click the "Click-To-Root-U9200.bat" file and under compatibility options click run as administrator or the like.
4. Run (Double Click) the Click-To-Root-U9200.bat (As Administrator!) (or right-click then, "run as administrator...")
4. Reboot your fone and click yes on your fone to install SuperUser.
that's it, your rooted
for those wanting to do the commands there self...
1. Download & extract the files to C:\U9200Root\
2. In the CLI type: "C:\U9200Root\adb reboot bootloader"
3. Then "boot TWRP.img"
4. Then Restart your fone and choose yes to install SuperUser
PS if you've not got much space left in your system partition you may have to delete something from /system/app/ to make space for the SuperUser files.
REMEMBER the space reported on your fone by android is the space on your data partition/memory & sd card and not the system partition!
You can check how much system data etc space you have left from terminal if u have it installed, or on the TWRP recovery which you will have just installed.To do this, Reboot the fone holding the Vol. Up Button, click on advanced then terminal then type "df -h" without quotes if system partition is less than say 10-20mb free then delete maybe, uneeded languages?, chrome.apk?, GSM_Maps.apk? or the like, then reinstall them to the /data/app part later. Since many of these apks get updated and the old ones left undeleted in /system/app/ anyways, I always move the system apks updates from /data/app to /system/app/, makes things a lot tidier and saves a lot of space both in /data/app and /system by not having two of every apk file youve ever updated just remember to copy the libs to /system/lib(s)

With CWM you can backup your phone (always a good idea )
After rebooted in CWM install SU with any zip file (ex : SU___Busybox_1.20.2_Flashable.zip )

The problem is not in TWRP or CWM; the problem is that there is not enough space in folder /system/app.
From TWRP I went to "Advanced" and then "file manager"; here from the /system/app I deleted all the languages other than Italian-pack (my language), chrome.apk and gsm-map.apk. Then I flashed SU_flashable and after boot-up SU was finally installed.
It seems that the difficulty of obtaining root permissions in all stock roms from b105 onwards is precisely linked to the lack of space in the / system / app.
I hope to be helpful to those who find themselves with the same problem.

I recovered stock recovery and flash with B123 but showing error msg installation failed!!!!!!
hi im having some issues trying to get the SU, i cannot erase the .apk contained in /system/app in order to gain more space.
- i cannot see any folder inside of system folder just one called /system/bin
i really dont know if that really would be the problem because i checked with "df" command and i see everything righ
but when i reboot even if i swipe to accept the configuration or install de SU.zip archive anything happend.
i will appreciate your help, thx!!
