Warning!!!its urgently recommed to read this!!! - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 General

Remote wipe and SIM lock - on many Android users a sword of Damocles hangs due to a security breach. With a free Web-test to check your android. Update: Meanwhile we received a statement from HTC.
A vulnerability allows attackers to delete all the data on a Samsung Galaxy S3 from afar. Alternatively You can lock the SIM card of the victim. How the gap: Hackers set up special websites when you visit after the USSD code (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) ask the victims of the smartphone and send the code automatically to the attackers. The code can then be misused to manipulate the smartphone remotely. Normally, you should before querying the mobile codes must explicitly give your okay - right here fail the affected devices. But while the discoverer of the hole initially thought that it was a gap in Samsung's proprietary software Touchwiz, it looks on the current state is quite different. Because, as it now known, apparently, HTC phones are affected. HTC uses instead the Touchwiz own Sense interface.
The New Zealander Dylan Reeve, who describes himself as a geek, has developed a test to determine if your Android phone is also affected. Check out the test in the browser on your smartphone: dylanreeve.com / phone.php. If your smartphone will automatically display the keypad to dial a phone number and also the IMEI number on a pop-up, you are affected by the vulnerability, according to test. Is only "* # 06 #" is displayed (without the quotes) to your phone be sure in this regard.
Samsung has already provided the way, the day after the discovery of the gap an update that will fix the vulnerability. The Koreans strongly advised to install the update. To all concerned without an available update to install the app TelStop or auto reset blockers. The free apps introduce an additional query - the hacker gets the USSD codes not anymore automatically. But beware! If you "take any action with phone" to take place at about TelStop "Perform action with TelStop" tap, tap, you still fall into the trap! This also applies if you "call" in the next window choose! With the app you NoTelURL stop calling phone numbers from the browser completely. Put a check mark for safety and use "NoTelURL" by default, if you can live without the feature.
update
try this site with ur browser to check----http://dylanreeve.com/phone.php
and here the blocktool,i use this ands work perfect:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voss.notelurl
GOOD LUCK TO ALL ANDROIDS OUT THERE,GRRRRRETZ!!!

Everyone should install it to prevent unforeseen consequenses xD

peoples please dont laugh, but my device haved a factory reset last thuesday,no joke.

Avast! mobile security said it protects me from those.
And it also depends which sites you visit. I mean , a Google search for "cute kittens " will probably not take you to those sites. Plus a ad blocker helps if it can be placed in a ad.

anyway no need for avast,it has heavy ram/battery using and its to big,the tool from my post has 160kb and no ram/battery consumption.but avast is a awesome antivirus on both, android+pc.on pc im using it too since 4years.

I use link2sd so even after formatting I can restore all my apps within seconds!!

Ohhh thank you for this! More people should at least look at this (it could save their Galaxy Y). It should be stickied as it can affect any of us at certain browsers!

that's a S3. with different touchwiz version and even different android system. are you sure our device is affected by this issue?

I have an antivirus called Lookout, is it enough to protect my little "Y"?

As much as i know, the ussd code which gets executed while browsing that site is embedded in the html code of the site. It can be easily used in other sites as well! So it can affect any phone

Tapatalk=good, tapatalk spam= annoyance.

Like many people I find it annoying that the forum users posting with tapatalk often do not turrn off the default spam, "Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk" which is added in to the body of the post. This forces us to read it over and over and over and over and over and over and over....... Here is an ongoing thread about this in N1 general ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=669354
A couple of solutions mentioned in that thread and elsewhere are.... make it a policy much like searching before posting to turn off the spam in settings which by default is on. Add in a divider such as you see before signatures that separates it from the body of the post so that like signatures it is easy to ignore. Many forums have not enabled it because of the annoying spam and this forum could disable support. Others?
Agree, it's very annoying spam...
What about the default signature do you dislike the most? The TapaTalk part, or just its existence in general? We may be able to change the default signature or remove it for the next version. That said, he helps to let people know that XDA has an app. I can understand that it may get annoying.
Maybe if you change the font, so it won't be confused with the rest of the message. It's important to advertise the app.
Put another line-break in and maybe a "divider" (----) to make clear it's a sig.

It's just extremely long.
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
etc
It's ridiculous. Why does it need to be so long?
A) We don't need to see the device name. We can clearly see the forum they're posting in (and people usually put their device in their profile or signature anyway) so 99% of the time this information is completely useless.
B) The whole "mobile application powered by blah blah blah blah blah" is excessive. We know it's a mobile application. This entire site is about mobile devices!!!
Can you just shorten it? Something like this:

+1. The problem isn't the fact it adds text, but the fact that so much of the text is unneeded. IMO it should just be shortened and possibly in a variation of the font used in the post, like bold or in a different size.
Personally Im fine with just a divider such as the short one used for signatures. To me the bothersome part is that it appears in the body of the post and I end up reading it over and over. Signatures are easy to ignore even when they are fairly gratuitus because the are outside the body of the post.

It would be easier if I was the author of the app-- because I could make these changes much more quickly. I'm more like the guy who convinced the Tapatalk folks to make the app for the community.
Anyway, doing my best to get this done. Thanks.
Actually, I stumbled on this thread on accident; but I like the signature the way it is, which is the reason why I left it. Yes, it's a bit long, but it's a good way to get the word out about a fantastic android application. Is it difficult to believe that people who use this application honestly don't mind giving a bit of free advertisement for amazing products?
I don't see how the sig's length is a problem. Look at almost anyone's sig that lists off the phones they've used and it'll be easily 5-10x the length of the Tapatalk sig. Maybe tweaking it to be a bit shorter, like "Via the XDA Tapatalk app - Nexus One"; but still, honestly, compared to any NORMAL signature, it's nothing.
However, it WOULD be nice to be able to set what your Tapatalk signature is manually.

for me it's no problem that a good app is promoted and I wouldn't mind it at all, even if the current length would be preserved (or extended)
what I mind is the following: the location where it is printed into the message, there is only one blank line between post and tapatalk ad and I always read it because I think it's part of the post itself, but it's not
and that's the major diff compared to sigs (independent of their size and format): though signatures are also only separated by one blank line from the post they are always preceded by "__________________"
that way they are clearly distinguished from the post, you always know what's coming next and it's up to you to read or ignore it
so why not make the ad part of the signature (e.g. as a check-box in User CP, freely configurable text/format)? I would be much more happy then
but independent of how long the text is: as long as it's part of the post I don't really like it (and that's w/o saying anything about the app)
thx

.
There was an update a few days ago, the changes in that build were, "v1.3.1:- Add Signature Customization". I'm not sure if this is related to some other issue or not. If it was supposed to addrress it then it was a failure. Paul and others are correct. Get this thing out of the body of the post and its all good.
On another forum I frequent people were asking for tapatalk and they refuse to do whatever it is that they have to do to provide support for it until tapatalk changes the spam. Good call IMO. I like this forum. The knowledge base is unmatched, the moderation is good. The brilliant little widget you added up in the top corner makes getting to a different section a breeze. That was the one complaint I had before, as more and more handsets were getting added it was starting to be a chore scrolling to the sections that interested me. Pretty much all in all a well hashed out forum. I guess considering the subject matter here it isnt a surprise that the number of tapatalk users is very high. Not sure if its something that anyone would really see coming but because the number is high the number of times you get spammed is high as well. I can only ask once again, please help us out.
On a personal level I dislike this kind of in your face spamming. No matter how good tapatalk is I will never use it until they change what they have to know is an irritant to many people. Not the kind of people I want to support.
The past few days I've been looking for a way to disable these messages on my end and I figured out a way!

(You can of course change the "[Tapatalk6]" to whatever you want, even just two quotes "" for nothing at all. I just leave it like this because seeing the message replaced pleases me quite a bit! )
Save the file, restart your browser. The above text should be replaced.

I don't so much mind seeing other people having that in their signatures. I just dislike the fact that if I personally use the XDA app, it insists on adding an annoying advertisement to the bottom of my post *without my consent*. If there could be a way to turn this off, I would greatly appreciate it.
Edit: someone didn't do a little looking around to find the option to turn it off. xD

Just because it isn't exclusive to Verizon, doesn't mean its not crappy bloatware.
+1 on getting rid of this when root is achieved.
I'm new to Android to so I apologize if this is totally out there. CityID is part of the ROM so it is protected. But I imagine that Cequint must be able to push out an update for CityID or their libraries from time to time.
What if we made our own version of CityID with the same manifest that did nothing and installed it using "Unknown sources"? Would Android see our newer version and use that instead?
Is this possible or do we need to wait for root access?
If you ForceClose it the trial returns to 15 days LOL.
There are some reverse lookup apps that show the name of the caller. Skydeck is well reviewed and I'm testing it.
When my trial period ended it asked if I wanted to keep my subscription and I hit no. It then allowed me to uninstall. Has anyone else had this happen for them?

Ok my free trial ran out last night, but this lame excuse of a program still runs for no reason, but to spy on my phone.
I was not able to remove the program.
This is a good reason to root this phone.
Ok so im new here and im new to the smartphone user crowd but I am pretty good with computers and think I may have found a way to remove City ID (and any other apps preloaded or not) from the Incredible. I was playing around last night and found an "Uninstall" button for City ID but I being a new user to Smartphones and honestly not yet willing to destroy my baby hehe was afraid to press it. Anyways for those (if any) of you out there are willing to try it and see what happens (im not held liable for anything if it goes wrong this is strictly your decision)..here is how you find the button:
1) Enter Astro File Manager (by default it takes you to your SD Card)
2)Hit the "UP" button, it will take you to your phone storage directory.
3)Choose the "System" folder.
4)Choose the "app" folder.
5)Scroll to "City ID". Click on it.
6)Choose "Open App Manager".
7)Voila..there is your button.
Please post if this works..alongside with any side effects etc..it would be greatly appreciated. Hope this helps someone.
Also posted this on XDA-Developers. Look there for replies too if it works. i sure hope so anyways. Search "City ID... how do you uninstall?".
EDIT: Also posted this on androidforums.com. Look there for replies too if it works. i sure hope so anyways. Search "City ID... how do you uninstall?".
No, it doesn't work. We have root now, so you can uninstall it. Someone posted directions somewhere. You just use the rm command from the terminal.
With this removed, do you still get city/state information (I imagine you would as Verizon advertises "Caller ID" as one of it's services). Was this just some moot/redundant app left in to try and make some money off of suckers?

Caller ID is name and phone number.
The translation from phone number to City/State is what CityID does. When removed, there is no display of City/State, but you still get Name and Phone number. As the translation of phone number to City/State for mobile phones is patented by the makers of CityID, Verizon can't provide that service without using the CityID application.

Want to know what others does with your cell phone in your absence? Then the solution is to simply have 'FoneDetective' running inside your phone. It captures all user actions, frame by frame along with the exact time details. Later you simply need to play recorded events and it will start sideshow of all recorded frames in timely manner.

You play with "Deep Link"... which calls Samsung App app crap...
This is not really Security... it is more Kindergarten...
All you could try... at the moment:
A
If this funny pop up came out... with "first step upgrade your Galaxy Store to the latest Version"
Try to tap around... in gray or other parts of your Display... NOT inside the white Window nor OK nor Cancel...
Start at upper corner...
Few Versions of funny Galaktik Joke App can skip such Pop Up Windows...
If no luck, please tell your App version... and maybe Link... so I could check...
There are 1000000000000000000000000 Versions of this Andromeda Running Gag.

There are other methods to get App and install...
Depend on your skills and how paranoid your Developer is...
My personal favorite is... TPK or WGT... then with SDB Tool:
Code:
sdb install "app"name.tpk
C

This depend how much you want test Beta Apps...

I have more then 1 device... but only old crap...
Like GT-I9300...
And my SM-R760 is for instance my toy...
So IMHO focus on your priority.
If Beta App testing is important for you...
So alternate solution...
Toy Wear + Samsung Toy Handset...
Maybe easier and faster to manage instead "hacking" Samsungs Security """Chain"""...
Maybe family members can borrow you Samsung Phone... or neighbar or...
Best Regards
Hi, I really appreciate your effort to really help me
I do not intend to hack any Samsung system to get what I want
I am going to get it by installing the wgt through tizen studio
The main reason for my post was to make enough noise for Samsung to update the embedded Galaxy Store inside Samsung wearable.
Thx again

IMHO Samsung can not hear you...
Not on XDA nor on their own sites...
I spend few minutes with your Video...
Results...
A
If you use PC Browser... you land or will be kicked also to this:
http://apps.samsung.com/betastore/appDetail.as?appId=fantasy
No idea why:
https://developer.samsung.com/galax...hout-phone-connection-mode.html?v=T000000285L
If you play with Android/Phone Link... you see Error...
http://apps.samsung.com/betastore/openAppDetail.as?appId=fantasy
B
Screenshots taken from my SM-R760... this device is not supported as it seems... so empty...
2_bad.png is example... and yes i can also not bypass by clicking somewhere else...

Not exact sure what you mean...
You mean the Phone part?
Because Galaxy App app APK is 1 App:
Code:
com.sec.android.app.samsungapps
In "Watch"... also Browser "embedded"... and nice Galaxy App App... I hate the names...
Code:
com.samsung.gearstore
I mean this...
Maybe "Watch" can handle these Deeplinks too... without the loooong way over Phone...
Best Regards

Impossible I've tried that way
There's one way through wpc mode but don't know how get this without resetting and don't wanna do it cause the long way to leave the watch as it was.
Any other ideas plz
Thx
?? ??
Sorry.
At the moment it is impossible for me to help you...
All I can do is in last PM I wrote you...
I spend few hourS with different Samsung handsetS...
Always failed...
Wrong ODC (Version)... incompatible Watch blabla...
IMHO this is not worth...
If I have trouble with Samsung stuff... no idea if you can bypass without Samsung device... this Security Labyrinth/Chain...
IMHO easier:
A
As I told Samsung Phone...
Seems good idea to have Android 7 device...
So something like Samsung S6...
B
If your Developer is friendly enough... he can share the Beta App in other wayS...
But if he is also so paranoid like Samsung... because paid App...
I have to give up on this...
Sorry.
Best Regards

Anti virus not install in system

Hi
Just asking my N975U note 10+ i update it to android 10 **********TE7 latest from sammobile and i figure it out the security antivirus was not install in the device care, i try to click it however it close automatically anyone have a solution on it or it will not fix anymore? I search alot try to do troubleshooting still not work , if you have anything please help thank you!
I don't have anti-virus as part of my software, and never have. It is something that needed to be installed separately.

There's no need for an antivirus on a phone...
Any antivirus app available on the Play Store is usually just a front which rarely (if ever) offers any antivirus related functions, and usually more focused on offering services like cleaning and antitheft.
Apps get scanned for suspicious blah blah at the time of install by the Play Store itself.

I understand what you mean. I do not have security/anti-virus at all in that menu. Perhaps VZW stripped it to try to sell me sh!t.

The dude that calls it a front, develope a android app and see what vulnerabilities you find.

For me that "AntiVirus" is just a "hidden" advert for "Mc Affee AntiVirus"
Clever advertising ploy of Samsung.?
Overall ,that basic scan is useless..( according to me.)
look ..... at the bold links.. click on that link and it will take you to McAfee site , where you can purchase their product.
See screenshots
Good luck

Yes, I'm also talking about same thing...
Phone /Settings /Device Care /Security......
It's actually a McAfee AntiVirus, not Samsung however it's "baked" into Samsung Firmware.
(See more screenshots below)
It seems to me that you are only stuck the first page ?
Obviously your Service Provider/CSC disabled it with their software.
It's not installed as that's why it closes automatically.
eg
Score eg 100
Battery
Storage
Memory
Security.
If you click Security.. then the other pages appear..( See screenshots. )
That Samsung AntiVirus or McAfee is on all my Samsung Note devices eg Notes 8/9 /10
Good luck

No its baked into your Samsung Firmware of your device.
If you cannot access the Security functions, then its been
automatically been disabled, by your Service provider or by your Regional CSC (Samsung Firmware)
Only way you might get access to it if you flash another Regional CSC.?.
that has this Security function enabled.?
This i would not advise.
Bottom line,
What i said in my previous post (Above), also that
its really not worth even bothering about it.
Suggestion,
Even though i can access the Samsung Security Scan function,
I have only used it once and i have my Note 10 + since August./. October 2019.
Really basic and its not really a Samsung app but powered by McAfee
See screenshot.
My security setup is
using. Adguard app blocker (paid subscription)
and i have the free version of Malwarebytes
which i manually scan my device..( if i feel like it)
Further Google Play services, automatically scans my all my apps on my devices regularly.
You have to enable it in Play store settings.
I used to have paid version of Norton AntiVirus, but it was a waste of money.!
So i also really don't need a "half baked" Samsung / McAfee AntiVirus.
Anyway its your choice
Good luck

However,
thinking again about your issue...
"that if you click.. tap on it it automatically closes."
Thats strange, because if your Service Provider
or Regional CSC, disabled it. it would be "greyed out"
You cannot tap/click on it.!
Have you not maybe disabled some System apps
and have a knock on effect.?
Otherwise may something corrupted your settings.
In that case only a Factory Reset can help.
Further i cannot see why a Service provider would disable it.
I would check with someone nearby or Regional
if they can access it.
Good luck.

It doesn't even appear on my device as an option, so it is quite likely mine was removed by my provider since they sell lots of 'extras'.

It looks like the "Device security" portion of Device care is deliberately disabled on US Devices in order for US carriers to push their own AV solutions
