[ROM][ODIN](RESTORE)LATEST STOCK ROM L710VPALI3 and L710SPRBLJ7 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Updated Stock tar files for use in ODIN.These are UNROOTED so i have left recovery out of them for easy re-rooting. (Stock recovery below)
In addition to recovery, your modem will also remain untouched. This was not by choice. Odin will not flash anything but the LEN modem. As with everything else you have flashed, wipe data/factory reset before flashing or you will most likely hang on the glowing samsung boot screen.

Nice,
Thank you for doing this billard!
and don't forget, triangle away fixes the flash count thing.

Could you please add the md5 checksums please? Thanks for doing this. Also why will odin only flash the LEN modem?

Ill get on that as soon as i get home.
And as far as the modems go i have no idea. I would guess its a qualcomm thing. Ive tried with every one and it fails with an error on the phone saying
SECURE CHECK FAIL : modem
Any devs out there that know feel free to chime in here. but i got nothin on that.
Pisses me off, never had a phone that wouldn't flash a modem with odin

Overlooked. LIH trips it. Its a leak.

Anyone have luck installing the jb rom in the op via mobile odin? I installed the ics tar just fine via mo but jb looks like it's working but stalks out right after the Samsung screen.

Thanks for this. I have been eanting to start fresh and this really helps.

I did a full wipe in CWM and flashed this with ODIN as described, and I'm noticing that my sound volume levels are a bit weaker than before, is this normal? I have the levels maxed out in Settings too...

I just flashed the JB leak and everything is great but my windy weather live wallpaper keeps force closing but my other live wallpapers work fine. Any ideas? I love that wallpaper.

OP UPDATED. MD5 Checksums added

The weirdest thing thing is happening to me and I just noticed it tonight and nearly pooped my pants. My phone randomly jumps to 4G but LTE is only available officially north of Boston, very south of Boston and the middle of the cape...I'm in a suburb about 15 minutes away from the city. They could be testing it around my area, but is it possible this ROM is playing tricks on me? If I notice 4G, I go to my speedtest app and it won't connect to a server unless it switches back to 3G. It seems to not keep the connection.
I feel like someone has a dollar on a fishing line and keeps pulling it away when I get close.
Edit: shucks, it edited out sh!t. Changed to more family friendly term.

[Guide]Oops, I flash something in Odin on "Phone" instead of "PDA"[ACS]EG30 AVAILABLE
DISCLAIMER
This is a guide for people who want to fix a mistake they made and NOT for people who want to experiment with their modems. Therefore, I am not responsible for any damage you do to your phone using this guide or these files.
Hello ladies and gents, AbsolutZeroGI here.
So, you've flashed something in Odin on "Phone" instead of "PDA". It happens to everyone. By that I mean I've done it enough times to cover everyone who didn't.
Thankfully it's an easy fix.
Before we begin, I'd like to thank Hacre for obtaining and uploading the stock modem.bin file. Also, thanks to the guy who pulled it to begin with (when I can remember his name, it will go here). I've tested this method personally (on purpose AND by accident), and I know that it works.
First, what happens when you flash something over "Phone" when you shouldn't? Well, it attempts to replace the modem.bin file with whatever it was you were trying to flash. If you unplug the phone and pull the battery, your phone will actually reboot. The worst consequence of this action is that your data will be DEAD. No signal, no data, no wifi. This is not nearly as big of a deal as it sounds. So take a deep breathe and ask yourself: what is the solution?
The solution is, of course, to flash the modem.bin file back to where it belongs. Here we go!
Okay, if you've flashed something on "Phone" instead of "PDA", you'll notice that Odin never finishes out and the phone never automatically reboots (like it usually does when you flash on Odin). This is normal and nothing to be alarmed about.
First thing is first, you need a modem.bin file. You can find one here: ACS Forums
**update** I now have ALL modems over at the ACS Forums (EG12, EG30, EG31 and EK02). So you can pick and choose which one you want
Next, pull the battery and unplug your phone (if you haven't done so already).
Then, you're going to put your battery back in and hit vol-down + power to get back into Download (Odin) Mode. Press up for yes when it prompts you.
Now open up Odin and plug your phone back in. It should connect just as it always does and be prepared to flash. If you don't know what I mean by that, check out the tutorial on using Odin here: [url="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274337]Odin Tutorial[/url]
Finally, you're going to click where it says "Phone", navigate to the modem.bin file you downloaded and select it. Make sure nothing besides reboot (it may be called auto-reboot) is checked in the boxes on the left hand side. No seriously, double check again please.
Hit start to flash it. Your phone will flash and reboot and be all fixed and you can continue with what you were doing.
Remember, we all do stupid things. That's why we have Guides to fix them
Hit the thanks button if I helped ya!
**Update**
We now have access to all 4 modems. Click the link above to go the ACS forums, then click on the link there to get the downloads.
Updated. Now there's download links for EG12 and EG30 over in the ACS thread for those who want a specific one
Enjoy!

I've heard it has (I've been busy with exams and first week of the new quarter in college), but I haven't seen it. Some people claim one gets better signal and less LOS, others claim the other does. Some claim there is no difference and there's a placebo effect.
But I thought as long as there's more than 1 I'd post it so people could choose. I only had eg12 before so now people have the full choice.
From what I've read the EG12 modem has been known to cause the phone not ringing when sleeping. I would go with EG30.
I just noticed that there is a size difference in the bin files. The eg30 you linked is 1.25Mb. The eg12 is 16Mb. A few posts down someone linked another eg30 that is 16Mb. Are they supposed to be around 16?

LISTEN UP LADIES AND GENTS. I realize that both are the same modem. That's a my bad. I spent 4 hours last night testing modem pulls and people either didn't do it right or had an eg12 baseband.
That being said, keep in mind that this is a guide for people to restore service to their phones if they've flashed something over phone instead of pda. this is not a guide for people to be fiddling with their modems (which you shouldn't be doing anyway) to see "which one is better". I will try to find one, but I don't consider it "imperative". The guide restores service, as promised.

Yup, download triangle away and it will also reset your binary counter you have to pay for it on the market, or get it here. Make sure your Binary count is above 1 or you can brick.

On ICS there is an app offered by chainfire called triangle away which will reset the counter. It comes with a potential risk of bricking, however, people seem to be having successful experiences with the app. Otherwise, a jig.

Modems are a huge part of your signal, you may get a way better signal with a different modem, all phones are different, your modem is your radio, and will effect wifi, data, bluetooth, gps etc.. To flash a new modem you can either flash via Odin, or CWM recovery, learn more here. Flashing through CWM is really easy, just put it on your sd card, reboot into recovery and wipe cache and delvik cache and flash them modem, then reboot and update your profile and prl in system settings.

No problem at al man you can use Odin too flash in download too without having to change anything, just make sure you change your modem back to your stock modem before returning it. You'll need to download Odin (I can't find a link anywhere around here) You'll need the SGS 2 drivers for your pc find it here

then follow these instructions (works with any modem) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdVfbwAJzPU

I've never used TriangleAway, but the instructions explicitly state ICS only. Whether or not it works with GB is out of my knowledge haha. But yeah use a Jig or make one yourself for GB. You can get them for like $1 shipped from China and they are very useful in case you ever hard brick.

Hard brick means non-repairable you can only fix a hard brick with jtag.
I wonder how chainfire got it to work on gb? The writeup says it uses the special boot partitions which weren't available until the ics kernels.

not that I will have an answer or solution, but others who might would likely want a bit more information, like:
are you on a custom ROM, or stock? which version of stock? or did you use that leak?
if custom, how did you get there? (ie: method used to flash/odin, stock recovery/twrp)
if you're just rooted stock, how do you achieve that? which method for rooting, or was it a rooted rom/oneclick/etc?)
did you do anything just previous to the problem? or "out of the blue"? (it is also vaguely possible it Is a network problem on Sprints end...)
if you're going back to BustBuy, are you unrooted now? do you know how to get back to unrooted? (they may not honor your warr if you are)
the more info you give us, the more likely we will have advice. just saying.
You might want to try resetting sprint login data by ##72786# to see if it helps.
Thank you for the quick response but I finally figured it out. I just reinstalled stock Rom and started fresh.

how exactly did you reinstall stock? i just got this problem after a reboot. i was on viperboy's stock K8 and just did a reboot and found my phone no longer has any network. i had twrp installed, the multi window mod, and the reboot option mod prior to this. i odined back to viperboy's stock J1 and had no resolution. i then went on to odin back to viperboy's stock JC, still nothing. i tried doing a restore from twrp off of J1, JC, and K8. after i reset everything and went back to stock i took the phone into sprint who had no way to fix it and could only offer to order me a refurbished replacement unit for whatever the price was. i have insurance from a third party but more then anything i need to know what exactly caused this and how to repair it. i noticed enough posts about this particular issue that i am hesitant to even think about rooting my next phone. when i do finally get a new one off insurance i of course would like to prevent this issue. however, using insurance after a month of owing my phone for this sort of issue really was not why i got the insurance.

thanks again, that solved my problem. i still wonder what in the world had my phone acting up in the first place. i believe i was one of the only people who had this just happen on a reboot without moving roms.
Thank you all for this thread. I just recovered from no mobile network as I accidentally flashed the wrong ROM. :good:

Then i flashed CWM again and all was good.

[solved] Does T999UVDMD5 lag on your phone?

It all started here:
http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/44716
I griped on the T-Mobile forums about the struggle I've had in finding a smooth ROM for my T999. And I made an off-handed comment in another thread that got me pointed in the right direction hopefully. I'm looking for other T999 owners that have this problem.
The problem on DMD5 is all related to (apparently) intensive tasks. Playing games, mostly. Temple Run 2 and Fruit Ninja, neither of which are all that intensive, were nigh-on unplayable. Other games like Scramble with Friends would lag and stutter a bit, too. So after a lot of searching, I reverted to a pre-rooted T999UVDLJC with the matching baseband, so that way my phone doesn't try to update itself OTA. And performance is pretty good. But I'd like to think that I'm not alone, and I found I'm not alone in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326763&page=33
At the bottom of this page and the top of the next one, I found at least one kindred spirit that has a rev0 phone and has the same issue with DMD5.
NO other ROM has this issue. I've tried all of the official Samsung ROMs and I have tried official CM10.1 nightlies and the official 10.1 stable release and performance is very good on all of them. But it took a huge serious nosedive on T999UVDMD5.
So I'm curious about two things:
Does DMD5 run well on your phone? Particularly with games - that's where it was most notable, but even TWLauncher is laggy for me.
How old is your phone? According to the box for my phone it was built 6/30/2012.
If you are affected, could you help us all out on the T-Mobile support forum, and post a message in my thread at the top of the page? If we can get T-Mo and/or Samsung to look into it maybe we won't get left behind. I plan on using this phone for another year or more and I'd rather get the official updates in the future, too.
Update July 6, 2013: I found out thanks to help from people in this thread that I can run mismatched modem firmware/ROM and with the JLC modem on MD5 ROM, my phone runs fantastic. Or at least it has for about 2 hours - usually issues have shown themselves by now, and since they haven't cropped up I'm calling this resolved.
When you were on MD5, how did you update to it? OTA? Odin? Recovery flashable ROM?
And how much data have you been carrying over? (When did you last wipe data/factory reset, without restoring backups?)

Btw, I'm on MD5, completely stock right now. Hw is Rev. 0
I get very little lag, if any, ever. Simple games or even intensive games run very fluidly for me.
For example, I just got Man of Steel when it went on sale and it works almost perfectly. Disney, Gameloft, EA games have all worked just fine.
The only MD5 issues I've seen around here seem to occur when someone is using a mixed build with the MD5 radio. And then its only been reports of heat issues and slight battery issues. Haven't seen much of anything regarding poor performance.

I've tried all of the above. I even let Kies install it once. I've used TriangleAway and Odin to install 4.0.4 and let it do all the OTAs. Iv'e done factory resets and I've told setup not to restore my data to the phone and started from scratch. I used a flashable ZIP with the pre-rooted ROM, and when I did that I also got the DMD5 modem flashable ZIP to go along with it. I've tried not rooted. I've tried custom kernels, and I've tried stock. Odin completely stock and flashable zip totally customized. I've played with custom DMD5-based ROMs with the v6 script and I've tried not. I'm way out of ideas right now.
Sorry, @kennyglass123, I didn't realize I'd checked that box.
Starting to think all of them have "rev 0" for the CPU identifier, so that may not be the way to tell who has what.
Just to be clear, did you ever Factory Reset, then Odin flash MD5 (not mobile odin btw), and factory reset again to ensure internal sd was cleaned out too? If for MD5, you only flashed the Rom and Modem, you would have been on a mixed build. Also, many devs suggest waiting an hour before starting with any testing or reconfiguring. I'm not convinced this is always necessary, but they do usually kno more than me!
Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to argue against your point, just to make sure not only that you've covered all angles, but that anyone who wants to back up your claim has also done the same.
As for the revision number, it may still be relevant as mine would have been among the first built too. We would need to find at least several others with the same, and different, to know for sure if it matters here.
Its always possible too that you got the unlucky pick of the hardware. (Just as possible though that I got a lucky pick)
Anyway, if you really are having that bad of problems with it, you may want to check if its still under warranty. I don't believe its the norm though.

Yeah I'm pretty sure, but I'm willing to do anything at this point. I'll do it again. I've stashed the Odin tar.md5 file on my backup hard drive, so I'll back up my working config and flash it again. Worst case scenario is that I re-root it, re-install recovery, and then restore my backup. Should take an hour max.
Use the root66 version of the firmware. Its pre rooted and is what I am running right now. Root alone won't have any negative effect, but will allow for much better troubleshooting.
Aside from that, keep it as clean from restored data as possible. Even a single corrupted contact entry can cause services to hang and eat up resources. I wouldn't even flash a recovery until you're ready to restore something.
(I use Mobile Odin Pro and it almost completely replaces the need for cwm or twrp. The only thing it can't do yet is make a nandroid backup.)

So the root66 is an Odin image? I assume you're talking about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687
I've got it downloading now. Thanks for all your suggestions. I've not heard of Mobile Odin Pro, is it a custom recovery?
Whoops - found the Mobile Odin thread on XDA and got the lite version and the T999 flashing kernel. I'll give it a go.
Regarding The AOSP MD5 issues: the same thing is happening to me on stock. Have to use LJC or the battery sucks. What are your reboot habits like?

There is no possible way it could be necessary. Proof or it's placebo.

Yes, root66 is basically just 100% stock firmware, only rooted. Itll download as a .7z file. Just extract it and use the .tar.md5. You have the correct thread.
Mobile Odin is one of my all time favorite apps. Its from Chainfire if you are familiar with him. (SuperSU)
Its not a recovery exactly. What it does is reboots using what's called a flash kernel. This allows it to flash firmware like PC Odin, but also can flash roms that are made for recovery flashing. It doesn't replace the stock recovery like cwm/twrp either, so it also won't trip the flash counter. (I know that doesn't really matter with Triangle Away available (also by Chainfire)).
The only two drawbacks, (minor imo) are that it can't create nandroids, and it doesn't flash the FULL firmware (this is by design though).
I wouldn't bother with it right now, but definitely check it out after testing all this. Theres a free, lite, version here on xda. Ill send more info from my computer later.

OK awesome, I will check it out. I think what I'm going to do right now is just reset the flash counter, flash the Odin image, and then factory reset and set it up as a new phone. Does that sound reasonable? If I reboot into CWM after triangle away, it trips the flash counter again, at least that's what it seems to do, so I can't do anything other than reboot to download after Triangle Away.

I don't reboot unless the battery dies, or I was rebooting a lot when I was on MD5 trying to get stuff to work well. Generally I try not to mess with a good thing.

That sounds fine. Remember, if you factory reset with stock recovery installed, it will wipe internal sdcard.
As long as you have cwm or twrp, the flash counter will always be at 1. I wouldn't worry about that for now though. It won't affect overall operation.

OK, I won't mess with it too much then. I've backed up my internal storage already and I've backed up my SMS using SMS Backup and Restore. That thing has been very handy keeping copies of my texts while I screw with this.
Cool, sounds like you're good to go! Good luck! And let us know how things seem to be acting after flashing.
Don't forget to factory reset after flashing md5.

OK I got as far as the factory reset and then it was time to paint. My daughter's bedroom wasn't going to paint itself. I finally came back to the phone and it was patiently waiting for me to log in. I logged in and installed just a couple apps while I ate lunch, and then it sat until we were done painting and cleaning up. Logged into Facebook and Twitter, set up Google Now and updated Samsung apps. Once all that was done, I fired up Temple Run 2 and it was OK at first, but within 3-4 minutes it was choppy and laggy again. The phone never got warm to the touch. It just ran poorly. I exited out and killed all apps with the built-in task manager, and went back to the game. Not really any better. It's just super choppy. I even turned down all the graphics options in the settings for the game and that made zero difference.
Eventually I gave up. Restored my 4.1.1 backup, fired up some stuff, performance was great. It's just the combination of my phone and that software. No idea what it is at this point. I do appreciate all the assistance you guys have lent me.
Right now I'm on T-mo and was waiting out the 60 days before I ported my wife's number in to my account. Now that that's over, I'll eventually port in her number. She's extremely happy with her iPhone 4s and insists she's not interested in an iPhone 5, so what I'll probably do is use the ability to get new hardware as an excuse to get a Galaxy S4. WHen I first came to T-mo I just got a SIM and bought the phone used - found out later on that I should have just bought a phone through T-mo because I can't get a new phone on a payment plan for a year unless it's as part of a new line. She'll be a new line, so I'll get a phone.
This hasn't put me off on Samsung or even on the GS3 - it's just my phone has a weird issue of some sort. And the people here have been super awesome. Thanks tons for all your advice. In the meantime I'll run JLC and leave well enough alone.

Should I re-flash the MD5 modem?
I'd flash the LJC firmware, Third firmware link in my sig. LJC link is buried in the OP.

OK I see it there. So I should use the LJC modem/firmware with the DMD5 debloat ROM you're going to PM the link for to me? Will they work if they're mismatched? I assumed (not that I'd bothered asking before) that they'd all have to be the same.

[Stock Odin Rom]{How To Use ODIN} attached. N900TMI7& NB4 (4.4.2) (How to use ODIN)
*****regarding the 4.4 update if u flash in Odin your boot loader will be updated .... Meaning no going back to 4.3***
Here's the stock odin tar downloaded from samfirmware. Mediafire dl link much faster than hotfile http://bit.ly/18Ll149. 4.4 nb4 link
http://www.mediafire.com/download/esadia6synn8s6j/TMB-N900TUVUCNB4-20140305155920.zip
Fyi.. Odin will not factory reset. If you want to start fresh factory reset in recovery before the Odin flash.
1.. Download .tar and Odin to pc (move to desktop)
2.. Extract .zip N900TUVUBMI7_N900TTMBBMI7_TMB-1.zip
3..Run odin as administrator (left click on odin.exe)
4. Put phone into download mode..With phone off press Volume down + home and power (press power button last) ..now press..volume up to enter dl mode..
5.. Connect phone to pc... Wait till drivers install. when completed youll see a yellow ID:COM box light up...
6.. Click on pda and open N900TUVUBMI7_N900TTMBBMI7_N900TUVUBMI7_HOME.tar.md5. ( If you did like i said it will be on you desktop. )
7 Patience.........
When finished it will reboot. on odin a green box should come up saying "passed"
People that havent used Odin before i would suggest using the odin i linked here. Its kinda dumbed down. .. No re-partition options .. If not ***** MAKE SURE TO NOT CHECK ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT AUTO REBOOT*****....
Link to odin 1.85 https://www.dropbox.com/s/s7t92nmy95kh3d9/Odin3-v1.85-1.zip

does this change your warranty from 0x0 to 0x1 ?

If he does not do it I will look into it. Here is a ROM I made for the Sprint Note II http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990681. I stopped updating it because my wife was always on me about spending all my time on the computer but since my divorce was final on Monday I have a little more free time.

Ditto, also having the same issue. One of the solution was to install the latest Play Store apk, but obviously we have the latest. Then I found another thread here on xda where it apparently went away the following morning.
Seems like it ain't working on my S4 either even though I was able to install an app couple hours ago.

Seems like a reboot fixed it on my S4. I'm able to update apps on that one now.
Also just tested with the Note 3, I rebooted and was able to download an app. I still think it was on Google's side, but that's only an assumption or it could be because these two devices are using my primary gmail account.

Either way this Odin works. thanks OP for hosting it on mediafire, hotfile always takes forever for me. :good:
As this is the first Odin firmware tar I will move this to development
Future releases would need to go in General.
