Not familiar with Cyanogenmod

I've been following the development of Cyanogenmod 9 and 10 with growing interest and with the roms growing ever nearer to completion I was wondering if someone could tell me what the advantages are of Cyanogenmod 9 & 10 (other than being Jelly Bean).
What exactly are the advantages of CM over the Stock HTC roms?
cyanogen is a mod that every one from a android newbie to Google Android creator's knows... in simple words it gives u experience of stock ics or jb as it shld and released by Google and without any useless stuffs or ui's that are forced into ur phone against ur wish by the manufacturer i hope now its clear? if u wanna know more ask ur friend Google. com

That's how far my knowledge already went, I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, how does it compare to stock HTC on the One V? Faster/More stable? Any features that the stock lacks?
It can he a bit fester, because its missing the bloatware and ofcause its Vater because cm10 runs JB . And in asome Roms there are New tweaks linke the statusbar control.

Welcome to the HOV forums. Do and donts eh? Don't flash a CDMA ROM if you have gsm lawl, I do like all the governor options in your kernels. will you be helping Simon with his epic quest to build the greatest kernel for the HOV
And will your kernels be for CDMA and gem?

Becareful with your kernel. A bad ramdisk has caused several developers to have almost inescapable boot-loops where they had to flash an RUU to be able to get their phone to work again.
We need S-OFF.
When you flash a custom boot.img or recovery.img, you will get a nice message on boot telling you that you have an HTC Development version.
We have CM10, PA, AOKP, CNA, evervolv, and MUCH more. All are pretty stable. Maybe modded ROMs of what we have? I think that has been a common request.
Simon has been leading the kernel development, really. He's definitely the person, as you've been told, to talk to for kernel-related things. I've been trying to help him out, but I'm not as experienced as I should be.
U R right~primou is GSM , primoc is CDMA

i dont think ill be able to get a software based s-off an xtc clip will needed for that. iv added Simon on gtalk to spit ball a few ideas etc i might port rom from other phones for the fun of it and wait for cm10.1 source to be full merged into the jellybean branch and compile that from source.
as for flashing kernels when i test my kernels i always do fastboot boot boot.img that way i can you the button combo to hard reboot if a bootloop happens

[TEAM][2/JAN] Looking for members for 'Team Blade' [CLOSE]

Hello to all fellow XDA members
So I'll just cut to the chase, I'm looking for 3 people, to join 'Team Blade,' which will be working on my ROM called Blade.
If you don't already know what Blade is, well, its a JellyBean Sense ROM that is usually (Or atleast I try) on par with HTC and OrDroidX releases. What makes it special? Well, it is extremely light, at a mere 280 MB, and has a Sense and Desensed version. Due to it being light, and the awesomeness of OrDroidX, its battery consumption is relatively low, and it gives an amazing battery life. Click here to go to the thread.
So what I'm essentially looking for is a 4 member team (Including Me).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Openings:
1) 2x Beta Tester:
You will have access to and will be testing Blade ROMs before they are released.
2) Graphics Designer:
You will be making many of the graphics associated with Blade and its Thread.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements:
1) Beta Tester:
You need to be available most of the time, to test ROMs ASAP (If Time Zones are different, its ok, you can still apply), have access to a computer with Windows/Mac, have fastboot knowledge, and a general understanding of how ROMs and Android works. Most importantly, a fast internet connection to download and test ROMs ASAP. You must also be able to speak/write fluent English.
2) Graphics Designer:
You need to have Graphic Designing Experience (Photoshop Cinema 4D etc) Need to be able to understand, speak, and write fluent English.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How To Apply:
Simply post on this thread, give your age, the position you want to apply for, and a reason a to why you believe you are the right person for the job.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Accepted Applicants:
These are the current and for the time being accepted applicants, as more people apply, I will consider each one's application, and the one I find best, will get the spot, but as of now, these are the lucky ones
Beta Tester:
hackarchive
Jorjino2000
XxVcVxX
ShyamSasi
Luiejongen
Graphics Designers:
Jonas2295
Andy1969
Kami2k
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS: Remember, One for all, all for one
PPS: Openings will close when 2013 starts
Hello,
I would like to apply for the position of beta tester.
I have general knowledge about Android OS, some knowledge about fastboot and am willing to learn and try to be helpful to the team. I am 37. In my home I have very good and reliable internet connection, also have mobile access in most of the time.
I am Android fan since 2010, I used to have DHD, almost every week I tried new ROMs. In general I prefer Sense, but sometimes try nonSense. Now I am using OneX and am trying new ROMs from time to time. The things I am loking for are fluid experiance, best battery time and nice transitions.
I think I could be useful to your team because I am willing to try new things and also I learn fast.
Regards.

Pretty much the same thing, no? Like if you have a ruu, its not in a zip form, but you use it as a basez then modify it with a kitchen, and add modsz rmeove useless stuff etc, only here, I use a zip instead of an ruu..
Anyways, do you want to be a zip modder/chef/dev for the Rom?

you said a zip modder is the same as some one that starts off a ruu wich imo aint the same.
you use ordroid as a base wich already has su, busybox, init.d support and ramdisk tweaks. how are you gonna add that to a ruu file without a kitchen?
dont get me wrong as i appriciate every one his work, just trying to find out if im doing things the hard way with a ruu file and kitchen while it may not be needed

You are right, I won't be able to make init.d support, busybox support or SU, because its already there in the ROM, which I use as a base, so its not exactly same to using an ruu but it does require lots of of work nevertheless
Also, AFAIK, SU and BusyBox can be easily added within minutes, thanks to chainfired's zip. Its just init.d support that I won't have to work on if I use a Rom as a base rather than an ruu and I'm really not that much of a pro...
So id suggest using a ROM as a base just my 2 cents
So do you want in? I can edit OP and add assistant chef again

[Q] [ROM Request] SlimBean 3.1 (4.1.2)

Hello all! I just got ahold of a used (mint!) HTC One V, and I'd like to know if any of you is aware of an unofficial or ported SlimBean ROM for this device. I use this ROM daily on my Galaxy Nexus and my Nexus 7, and I really like it. I haven't been able to confirm that it exists for the One V so far, so if anyone has information, please share!
Or, if a dev has planned to port SlimBean, I'll be more than happy to beta test it for the OneV!
Thanx!
Me too

This is the official website for Slimroms. There are many unofficial ports of this ROM too, but there is no list of devices for them.

It's an awesome ROM, imho. So far as I can see, it's the ROM that has provided me with the most ways to customize my phone. My past Nexus S ran it before I retired it, and now my GNex and N7 both do too. I thought CM10 and AOKP had everything, and they almost do, but Slim steps it up and adds more. And it has a much smaller footprint to begin with. All of this, of course, is my personal opinion.
I'm not a dev in any way, shape or form, so I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say we need AOSP sources (maybe it means a vanilla JB rom for this very device? some devices have official Slimroms support and don't have stock JB roms yet). It's sad if this is what's keeping SlimBean from appearing on the One V.
i'll run a build see how it goes....i'll also run an evervolv build, let me know what else needs updating guys. Also need some of you who can build from source to step up now, this place went to hell when myself and maxwen went to work on X+

Thank you for considering building it! Not a dev myself so can't help much! I went as far as installing Ubuntu x64 in a VM amd following a tutorial on how to install JAVA and the Slimroms git, but then the tutorial ended and I was without a clue about what to do next, lol!
Again, thanx in advance!
EDIT: I don't know if it matters or not, but I would like to see a 3.1 (4.1.2) build instead of 4.2.1. The 3.1 Slimbean build is very stable on other devices, and I think it'd be better than 4.2.1 for now.
I didn't plan on 4.2

It still amazes me that you can just go "alright, I'll compile it and see"
Wish I had the knowledge to do this just like that, lol!
Thanx!

[devs lost in space]

We have lost our best devs... who can make build from sources and/or port a rom?
For now i know:
Kantry123
Crossfire77
Djoliver
Me with my AOKP port
...
Plz post your name and your best rom/s (and, if you have time, the link of xda)

Are there someone for aokp (source or porting aren't different)?

Crossfire77 is a really gold dev too but we need some real devs like modpunk for making cm10 almost bugfree and having cm10.1 .

I think the closest thing to AOKP for marvel is the PACman rom by thehacka1. Am I right?

Speaking of devs what ever happen to project llama? Did ben and Ivan just give up. Well they gave us good roms. I can start to try to port and compile. Been around for awhile know a few things.
None of the new ROMs will never be bug free I've been on here for almost 2 years. My xda says a year but thats when I actually made and account. I think we should all start moving on to new phones soon.

As for Project Llama, I managed to contact benjamingwynn via PM and he told me that this project was suspended for now and that they don't know if/when they will continue developing it. To tell you the truth, according to me, this rom had the best potential to be fully functional and bugfree. And this is the real challenge! A fully functional rom. Now, my hope for this is alquez and his cm7.2 rom.

I'm going to write another review on a jelly case and I'm going to try Porting MIUI GB. That's it, then I'm moving on to my dad's old P500 (it has an almost perfect CM10,10.1) and when something worth buying shows up, I'll move on.
Well, these months have been awesome, I've learned a LOT here, and I plan on developing kernels soon (Not this device, either the P500 or my next one).
And i have to thank all of you for making my first android experience awesome.
I'll port it ASAP and I'm done.

The thread is not quite appropriate........
The devs moved on..........this is an old device after all.........Almost all of them have new phones and a few of them develop on those devices.....the others did it for satisfying their development hunger and now do it occasionally
Many people(including me) will sooner or later reduce activity on this forum because of owning a new device
I have seen countless threads like "goodbye threads","tribute threads" etc.....IMHO these threads are useless
No offences to anyone
Yeah...this is becoming like an end of a great era of WFS development...

Project Llama is obselete now, as thehacka1 managed to port PACman.. Project Llama was something like this as far as I can remember...
But it's too early to move to new phones. We'll try to keep the community alive! I'll get a new device in 1,3 years so I have to stay with my WFS... And even if I'd get a new device tomorrow, I wouldn't stop contributing for our WFS, no, I'd do more research until I bricked my phone!

Project llama started with the intention of make a cn10.1 from source, not from porting... but when it started cm10.1 isn't supported and ben and oliver had left this project for this thing but it isn't out of date
Sent from my Wildfire S A510e using xda app-developers app
So if Oliver and Ben have left the project and Ivan doesn't contribute anymore.. Project Llama is discontinued I guess

We could try to reopen project

I moved on to the one v but I intend on helping icu with porting some of these marvel roms to the c (with permission of course) it is sad to see it all slowing down but thehacka and olivier are all coming out with fresh takes on cm10. A lot of us have moved on but this forum has done a lot for us, and the device as well. I think there will be new stuff coming around for the marvel/c at least themes and stuff.

I just got a wildfire s within the last 24 hours I plan on developing for. I don't have a major mean dev streak, in fact, I'm quite new to developing for the OG Evo 4G. The Evo forum is still going strong and it's an older device. Now, I've come super freaking close to booting cm10.1 on the Evo, but nay, the device tree and possibly the kernel are leading to problems. Either way, even if the older/good devs are moving on, there are always new people to come over and contribute. The ability to continue creating may spark interest in those otherwise occupied.
