Charging the Galaxy note 2 - North American Users - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I ordered the International Version of the SGN2 and it'll be here on Tuesday but I have an important question to ask. I watched several unboxings on YouTube and I could help but notice all of them came with the UK prongs for the AC adapter.
My question is how are the north american users charging their new Galaxy Note 2's?
Did you guys buy an adapter? Use a different charger? (If so would the nexus 7's charger work?)
Please advise...

You should be OK with almost any USB 5V charger rated at 1A or more, but a 2A charger, like the Nexus 7's, would be the quickest.

Dave

I'm glad you started this thread. This has been on my mind all morning. My GN2 should be here Monday. If anyone has a link to a good 2A charger please post.

I ordered from Negrielectronics so I doubt I'll be getting one. What did they give you? 2A?

My GN2 should be here Monday. If they didn't supply an adapter, I'm just going to run over to my local Radio Shack and pick up one of these.

Good find and smart thinking! I think I'll do the same

When you pre order from handtec they throw in a free adapter, and the note charges super fast like 10% to a 100% in 2 and a half hours.

Anyone in Canada (Toronto area in particular) know where to buy one of these?
I know they're on eBay but I can't find it on the source.ca
Any suggestions?

I have American Style adapters with converter prongs, and have been using it on 220v here in Korea. I've used it the other way as well. They all work no problem.

Just a fyi - I ordered through Techno Trading House on eBay. I was just informed that theirs includes a standard US charger.

I think I'm going to order a European to US adapter of eBay.

AFAIK, the charging voltage on the Note II is the same 5V as all other phones, thus any USB charger should work. The only difference is in the current rating. A (tablet) charger rated for up to 2A will charge it faster, while others will be slower. Heck, you could use a 0.5A BT headset charger too! It will just take over 24 hours to fully charge the beast.
The current rating is the amount of current the device can supply safely. Its like a tap, the bigger the spout, the faster the water flow.

Actually my s2 charger (5v 0.7a) charges my note2 from 7% to 100% in 5 hours.
I'm considering keeping that charger for daily use as my note2 only charges during the night anyways while im sleeping and I think its more gentle on the battery to slow charge it. And I'll keep the 2A charger for emergencies.

Can I use my old charger from my Original Droid to charger my new Galaxy Nexus?
The old charger is the kind that has the USB plugged into the part that goes into the wall socket. and has the standard mini USB, same as the charger that came with the GN. Was just wonder if the voltage would be different?
thanks for any help. Wanted an extra charger at work.
Should work no problem
Has anyone seen John Connor?
Should work. And it's micro usb for future reference. Mini is too big.

Yea, micro
Check the output. Ideally, you want it to match that of the GNex charter, which is 5V and 1A

The voltage should match, but the ampere doesn't have to. In fact, it's better if it's bigger (only slightly though, otherwise the battery might overheat).

Does the voltage have to match? Do we need additional transformers for travelling between Europe and USA?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
The Samsung Droid Charge "charger" here in the US works just fine and can be purchased on eBay for around $5. In fact I think it's the same charger they bundle for the Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus.

You will see that most of chargers these days support 110 - 240 V and 50 - 60 Hz, so they should work everywhere. All you'd need is an adapter, but no transformers.

But it does need to be a 5v power supply.

That was for the input voltages. The output from the charger should be 5 V.

Us chargers

Hi,
I currently have the euro charger with us adapter and its annoying how janky the thing is.
What are you fellow us owners using for wall chargers?
I'm thinking the Samsung galaxy note charger might be good. Its under rated at 5v .7A so it should work right just charge slower ...
Thanks

Anyone. Guess no one charges they're note lol

I use an old HTC wall charger same amps and its really slim... HTC diamond charger
At my desk I also use the charging station from quirky.com

I am using my dell streak charger! It is 1 amp and seems to work pretty well.

Just in case you're really cheap like me, an easy way to get the charger and adapter to "stick" together is to take some small strips of paper, fold them over and over again until they're about as wide and thick as a popsicle stick, and stick one in each side of the adapter socket. Then cram the charger into the adapter, and it'll fit like a glove. Before I did that, my charger would fall out of the adapter at least three times a day. If you'd like some pictures to see what I'm talking about, just let me know.

[Q] Charger specs

i sold my old galaxy fit when i bought the note 2 but since my old phone charger had a longer wire so i kept the old charger and gave him the note 2 charger.. cz my bed is a little away from the plug point.
i just wanted to confirm if the specs of the charger are the same.
thnks
They're probably not the same. Note II's charger is rated to 2A (@5V).
The one im using is output 5.0v and 0.7A
Will it cause any damage or any problem...
My note 1 also used a 5.0v 0.7 A charger.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Don't worry: it won't cause damage. It will only take longer to charge.
Thanks a lot buddy!!!

Battery chargers compatible with S2 or S3?

I want to buy a spare battery and external battery charger for a Galaxy Note 2. I already have external chargers for both an S2 and an S3 - does anyone know if the Note 2 battery can be charged with either of the same chargers? (e.g. is the battery roughly the same size)?
Edit: scratch that, misread the post.

Presumably you mean the USB charger (i.e. the one that plugs into the phone)? My question concerned the external chargers that charge batteries when they are not in the phone

Well even that. They are all supposed to be interchangeable anyway. I'm using korean note 1, s3, s1, xperia arc s, desire etc chargers. The korean note has an external battery charger which all the chargers seem to work fine with.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
S3 has four pins on the battery and and note 2 has three. I'm not sure the last pin could be for nfc since its on the battery in s3 but still I doubt the chargers are interchangeable unless you have one of those really cheap and nasty ones where you can slide the actual charging pins across to meet the pins on any battery.

First I thought to buy the Google one, but it just to small, and I need 2, for nexus 5 & 7, then I thought, why not to kill 2 rabbits, with 1 bullet, and buy a dual charger, the ZENS looks good, and big, so tablet not look out of place, any other recommendations?

Could you take me a photo of nexus 5 & 7 charging at the same time on it? just curios of correct placement of the 7" tablet on it (dunno how good it looks on it, as other qi pad are small), how much Amps the Ac adapter outputs?

Sure. I'll grab it next time she's over. I don't know the amp the adapter puts out off hand, but both the qi slots charge around the same speed as my vu and the lg puck. I'll check after work.

No problem charging nexus 7 & another smartphone? also, what dimensions the pad has? in ordered to get charge, do you need to place the tablet over the edge of the device?
Any updates?
