Factory Images 4.1.2 (JZO54K) "takju" (GSM/HSPA+) (with Google Wallet) - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

it's up guys
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#takjujzo54k

since I haven't gotten the OTA update yet can I just flash "system.img" in fastboot to update from 4.1.1. to 4.1.2. and call it a day ?

Nice! And so I'm tempted to switch to takju once again...
I probably will switch over the weekend if the yakju OTA hasn't come out by then.

Thanks for posting!

Interesting Google provided a windows batch file for flashing.
In other news my usb port is messed up so I'm going to have to wait for the OTA

Currently unlocked and on Yakju. If I flash to Takju, will I lose all the data?

I'm 99% sure that you will loose all user data.

Maybe, but maybe not.
Assuming you have all you apps and app data backuped up in /sdcard using Titanium Backup, do the following:
Flash the boot and system images only, reboot into CWM, wipe cache and dalvik cache, and then reboot.
If you end up with a bootloop or it doesn't boot, just reboot into CWM and wipe data, and it will reboot. Then restore you apps and app data via TB (after flashing a superuser zip of course).
EDIT: I've never seen any say they've tried it, so maybe you can help all of us out.

Thanks! Mine's not root so no titanium backup for me. Since I'm currently out of town until this weekend, I'll wait for the OTA and see what happens.

Nonsense,
I was on yakju rooted with the bootloader unlocked, of course. Then I followed your AWESOME guide without backing up ANYTHING and it worked!
I only skipped step 10 (flash userdata.img) and rebooted just fine. It took a while because of the dalvik cache rebuild.
After that I booted in CWM (without flashing it) and applied the SuperUser .zip and gained root again.
Everything's fine. No data loos at all!
Cheers!

Interesting to note that they seem to have 4.1.2 completely superceding 4.1.1, that is to say, they're removing the 4.1.1 builds once a 4.1.2 build is up for a particular device.

For the Nexus 7, it is a requirement since newer Nexus 7 variants will apparently not run on 4.1.1. So I think they are not going to keep the links up for 4.1.1 because of that.

Can anyone post the Build.prop form takju 4.1.2

It's easy to make a batch file, I personally made one for my n7 and gnex.
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?

5 hours to download from Google. Anyone have a mirror?

No OTA's yet?

I would just reflash the ROM, that will switch it back to stock.
Will this work on any of the stock zipaligned roms?

You can also just insert the systemui.apk from the main ROM in the update.zip of the mod (overwrite the systemui in this zip) and flash.
for some odd reason I could not get this to work. Just kept getting stuck at the goggle logo. Yes I downloaded the correct LTE version.

A few things, did you already accept the 4.0.2 OTA prior to flashing the ROM (you need to in order to get the new kernel and baseband)? Did you wipe dalvik and cache when you flashed the ROM? Did you check the MD5SUM to make sure the file wasn't corrupted?
Is there any way to make the search key have long press abilities? Sorry for all the questions bro lol

The issue could be that you came from 4.0.1 instead of 4.0.2 like the OP called for. I would think that the upgrade would have gone smoother than the downgrade (like if you were on 4.0.2 trying to flash a 4.0.1 ROM) but i bet you it would fix your issues just to update first to the current build OTA or you could wipe data/cache.
Hey everyone that is coming from 4.0.1, I uploaded the new kernel and radios into the 2nd post.
You can flash them in bootloader using fastboot, then reboot right into recovery to flash the ROM.
I don't suppose that you can craft a version of the soft-key mod like Paul's that has the menu button always shown? This is the only thing I have issues with in ICS - many apps (like FBReader) don't show the menu button, which makes the app useless...
Paul's patch still causes the top and bottom bar to disappear on the LTE Nexus...

My softkeys are built using the exact same mods he used in his MCR ROM.
Those menu buttons are persistent in both corners, but the three dots only show up when apps call for them.

Ok so from what i've read on other threads i just need to get the stock rom and flash it with that. Anyone know how i can get the stock rom for my SGH-T989? Anyone help me out?
What recovery are you using? Are you doing a full wipe of system/cache/data before installing?
See the screens below. Its easy to get this running on your t989. Use the most recent twrp, wipe down the phone and things will work. I don't use any scripts either, just the recovery wiping options.

Did you use Darkside Super Wipe on a 6.x.x CWM recovery? Because that will get you into a bootloop as the Darkside wipes are meant for 5.x.x recoveries. You will have to reflash and wipe cache/data instead of superwipe if that's the case.

Ok so I found myself stuck in the bootloop you described. I am using CWM 6.0.2.7 and had recently flashed, Cyanogenmod 10 and then most recently AOKP 4.2.2 on my T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 (hercules) T-989. I was having serious battery drain issues with the AOKP and tried to reflash cyanogenmod 10 but also flashed gapps 4,2,2. This was done on accident and Cyanogenmod 10 ran very buggy for like 15 minutes. I cleared all settings and cache using the various options in CWM. I then did use Darkside Super Wipe which was on my sd card. After running Darkside I am stuck in the Cyanogenmod 10 bootlogo. I can access CWM but cannot seem to get it to flash anything appropriately. Any help or assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You need to find a tar file of your recovery to flash in Odin.
OK sorry for the long delay I apologize. I did reflash the OEM TMobile rom which actually was an upgrade to 4.1.2. Battery life is still horrible after reflashing. I would to go back to Cyanogen Mod 10 but anything from Cyanogen Mod gets stuck at the boot logo. I need help completely eliminating any trace of ROM installs so that I can reinstall Cyanogenm Mod 10 and use that ROM without any problems or battery drain. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. I had OK battery use with Cyanogen Mod 10 but drain has gotten worse even with OEM ROM. Are there remnants of other rom installs that may be interfering with functionality?

I was in a similar situation as you are... I used Darkside Superwipe on CWM 6 and then I was no longer able to flash any more zip files. I described my experience in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427906
I still don't know what exactly is going on with my phone (which is why I posted the thread - I'm not sure what will happen if/when I upgrade to CWM 6 again), but I was able to get CM 10.1 running by flashing CWM 5.0.2.7 from Odin and then flashing Darkside Superwipe + CM 10.1.

[Q] Am I SOL? Maybe bricked my phone?

Okay, so here's the story.
I was using clockworkmod to flash a new ROM on my E4GT; I accidentally flashed a file which I thought was a 'safe' recovery so I could go back to ICS from JB. Well it was not a safe recovery as I thought. Before doing this, I did a format all as usual, so I now have no ROM on the phone. When the phone rebooted, it came up to the Android System Recovery <3e> menu. Normally this wouldn't be a problem for me since I could just put it in download mode and fix this via Odin, however, my USB port on the phone does not work. I charge the phone using an external battery charger.
Is there anything I can flash on the stock recovery via the external SD that will rectify my issue, without USB?
I will continue to Google this problem, but I would appreciate any additional help.+
So far, it's looking like my only option is to JTAG this huh? Hoping there is something out there I can flash from stock recovery, I mean it's not like I tried to flash an international ROM or anything....hmm

No, GB27, and like I said it worked once. It really depends on what recovery you flashed. You need to flash the matching ROM.

I get exactly what you're saying now. For some reason I flashed GB08_STOCK_NOCWM.zip or something along those lines. Now I am searching for a GB08 zip file and I think I should be good. Everything I can find is in exe format though...
It all makes sense now though. I'm used to HTC phones where I can just use whatever recovery to flash a ROM and not have to worry about different modems/kernels etc. I am crossing my fingers that this works. You've been a tremendous help today.

Can you post a screenshot of your "About device" settings? And by Internet do you mean your data doesn't work? If so that generally points to a modem issue. As for the order of flashing, it generally goes like this:

@audit13 :As for the order of flashing, it generally goes like this:
1. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
2. Install .zip
3. Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache
4. Reboot
Someone tell me, does the bootloader go on first or after the cm11 rom?
The bootloader must always be loaded first. Without a bootloader, the ROM would not boot.
Wiping cache, dalvik, data, and system does not touch the bootloader or modem.
Audit, take a look up a few posts where I have a pic of my About phone. As far as I see I have the right bootloader. Remember I formatted everything, not wipe.
That screen shows your modem, not the bootloader.
If you have terminal emulator on your phone, open the app and type this in and let us know what it says:
su and press enter.
getprop ro.bootloader and press enter.
Try this if you don't have terminal emulator: boot into download mode and tell me what it says on the screen.
It's important to know which bootloader you have because that will determine what can be safely flashed to the phone.
Maybe this will help. I get this message after applying the rom right after applying the network name and password, (INSERT SIM CARD, You need to refer to your sim card instructions that came with your phone and there is a red android with on eye closed) . I have my bootloader listed in couple posts up.
Try flashing a more recent modem with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898
If no dice, update the bootloader with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321310
That screen shot is not your bootloader, it is your modem. I don't recommend flashing any modem or bootloader related until your find out what it is.
I also have a Nexus 4 and when I got to the "About" screen, it tells me my modem is 1.0.3 but I know my bootloader not 1.0.3.

That screen shot is not your bootloader, it is your modem. I don't recommend flashing any modem or bootloader related until your find out what it is.

OMG. I am so embarrassed. Thank you NikoZBK for pointing this out.
Teepee, my apologies for not thoroughly reading your post
It is possible that CM11 is not completely compatible with the 4.1.1 modem. Try installing CM10.2 to see if you can get internet access over your data connection. If you can, try updating the modem and bootloader as NikoZBK suggested.
If you want, you could also flash back to unroot stock 4.1.1 and run OTA updates to get all the way to stock 4.4.2.

Seconded. And no problem. :good: I almost missed it myself.
First off let me thank the two of you for all your help. If you haven't noticed, you are dealing with someone with very little knowledge lol. If you go back to post #11 I updated the exact message I am getting. Are there any links you can give me on running OTA updates and how to flash back to unroot stock 4.11.

The easiest way to get back to stock and run OTA updates is this:
1) download the stock ATT 4.1.1 ROM from sammobile.com. Just search for the sgh-i747.
2) put your phone into download mode but don't connect it to your computer;
2) launch Odin and click on the PDA box and browse for the ROM file. The ROM file should now appear in the PDA box.
3) don't check anything in Odin except F.Reset Time;
4) connect your phone to the computer and flash the ROM in Odin by clicking on the start button;
5) when you see the word "Reset" in the Odin status window, disconnect the usb cable, pull the battery, replace the battery, boot into recovery, wipe cache and data, boot the phone.
The phone should now be running a completely stock 4.1.1 ROM. At this point, I would test out your data connection to make sure everything is working. If everything is working and you want to update via OTA, just connect to wifi and check for software updates directly from your phone.
Be aware of the fact that rooting on stock 4.3 and stock 4.4.2 can be trickier because Knox will be loaded onto your phone after running the OTA update to 4.3.
Just a quick FYI, if I may... as I understand it, the latest cm releases will have to be run on the 4.4.2 bootloader and modem. They apparently updated the radio/ril files and they don't play well with our older modems.

Would anything bad happen if I tried to format the boot folder? Thinking of formatting everything I can if it won't hurt my phone?

Just updated to developer build of 5.0 lollipop.... Storage?

Just a quick question. I flashed a stock build then went to 5.0 with zero issues. I'm under the assumption this wiped your device as stated in the directions but for some reason I'm missing a ton of storage. Should have any 24gb of free space after a clean flash. I don't have Google+ photos synced or anything.
Anyone else see that?

Were you using factory images? Just curious. Stock recovery? Wipe data/factory reset. TWRP? Format data. Or... fastboot format userdata. That's the options that I remember hearing of but I've not had the problem myself. Any of those options will of course wipe your storage.

I actually used wugfresh toolkit bc I had a problem with adb for some reason.
I got some help from the nexus 7 community on google+ and it was as simple as just doing a factory reset. Lol. Showed up 26.9gb free after that.
Sometimes it is just the easiest stuff right under your nose ?

I flashed the stock image using flashboot again..
Do we have root and twrp on the nexus 7 yet?
Yes. Go to the Android Development thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2856920 ], post 441. You need a modified boot image for root. You can fastboot flash twrp and fastboot flash the kernel. Or, there is a zip of the kernel. Or, you could use Wug's newly updated toolkit.
