Thanks a lot for the answer, the thing is that I haven't seen the security warning but I'll give it a try anyway. I'll let you know about the outcome!

Through my experience of the issue I had, it would give you the access error due to the security warning but it could be a different problem but as you said above give it a go and let me know buddy.

It might be a silly question, but how to run the bat? I keep the phone in USB fastboot and Irun it?

Just drag the .BAT file into where the fastboot location is, Run the .BAT with the phone plugged in and it should repeatedly reboot with the cmd window open on the desktop.

Hi there! Tried the bat file thing, it reboots many times, no security warning, but after, when I try to flash the unlock token, still access denied.

If you turn the phone on without charging it or having a cable connected, just below the REUNLOCKED word at the top of the Hboot does it say ** Security warning **?

Hm sorry Manic it's out of my hands, I can't think of a reason why it spit that error out.
Fingers crossed someone will be able to help you out I am sure they will they are good guys on here!

It's great you took the effort!!! Thanks a bunch man!

You are more than welcome, one last thing you can try is Follow the procedure of getting the UNLOCK-CODE.BIN via the DEV site by copy all that text on the DEV site and see if it will accept that at all.

Tried already, access denied, i cannot push apparently any command via Win Cmd

Hello there! Sorry I din't keep it fast, the thing isthat in the end I found a multitool for HTC One X, I manage to flash the unlocktoken through it and then to reflash the recovery. My phone is happily bouncing on Jelly Bean but I was exhausted afterwards Thanks a lot for the good intentions. A period of calm will follow ...untill JB 4.2

I've got stuck!!!

Hi People,
I am trying to flash my friends One X and I am having difficulty getting the bootloader unlocked. Its followed the video guide on here and got to the Unlock_code.bin part but the cmd prompt is saying unable to connect to device (remote). Also now when I boot normally in to sense it does a weird screen flashing thing??
Any ideas?
Ps. ive been rooting a fair while now so I have some knowledge (s3/desire)
Cheers!!

did you install htc sync for the drivers, and go to the bootloader and wait for windows to detect it?

If you have been rooting for a while then you know that this question belongs in the Q&A's and not the Dev Section.

[Q] updating firmware on a rooted att M8?

Please forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere, i searched but what little i found didnt seem to helpful (maybe im just confused) i want to flash the new Viper rom but it says i need 4.4.4 firmware, my rooted htc only has 4.4.2. How do i update it? I am scared of bricking my new phone so could someone please explain it to me like i am stupid? I used the all_in_one_toolkit (wonderful program!) If it matters..... also i flashed twrp cause there was no OTA att update found (checked twice)

1) Mods won't like you posting a question in the Dev thread... there are specific sections (general, firmware, etc) where you can post it...
2)Considering that your phone is practically new, if you only rooted it and haven't installed a custom recovery, you will be able to update your firmare (OTA) through the built in upgrade process on your phone. Once, that is done, root your phone and install a custom recovery like TWRP.
good luck

Yes, I sure do.
First of all, if you want the newest ViperOne, you'll want 5.0.1 firmware, at least.
Hook up to you PC. Get into ADB/fastboot, and issue the command fastboot getvar all.
Post the readout here, and I, or someone else, will point you in the proper direction to update your firmware.
Please make sure to delete the serial# and IMEI from the readout. Never post those in a public forum.

Have you never used ADB or fastboot before?
Okay. This will update your firmware. Backup anything important to you, because this will wipe your phone.
Go here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-att/news/
Scroll down to where it says "Manual system update instructions". Read what it says, then click the download link at the bottom.

Not by itself, i dont think so anyways... I just followed a youtube vid on how to use the all-in-one-tool kit program... I figured less room for error risk?
Thank you for the link! Will have to reroot and unlock it after the update and stuff like that?

Yes, but that's easy. Unlock your bootloader, flash TWRP, and flash a rooted ROM, such as ViperOne.
Also, I recommend not using one click toolkit methods. They often cause problems, plus doing it manually is easy and gives you an introduction to ADB and fastboot, making it less intimidating.
I don't know how to do it manually =( last time I tried I hard bricked my m7

You need to re-lock your bootloader first if you are not S-Off.
Get back into fastboot and do fastboot oem lock, then leave your phone connected, and run the RUU again.

I don't know.
Maybe you don't have the drivers installed on your PC.
Go to Device Manager with your phone connected. You should see that your M8 is connected.
If you don't see it in Device Manager, download HTC Sync Manager and run it to install the drivers. After that, uninstall HTC Sync. It doesn't play nice with ADB and fastboot. The drivers will remain.
Then go to Device Manager and confirm that your phone is listed there when connected..

I do know that if you were to go S-Off, updating your firmware is a piece of cake. You just need to find the firmware.zip and flash it.

If you can access recovery do adb sideload your rom again, it will fix easily.

You need to sideload 2.x roms, 3.x roms cannot be sideloaded like this.
For sideloading another rom you need a fastboot again.
You can do the method i shared link but it completely wipes phone.

Hey bro, I just fixed mine. I had no bootloader, no recovery, and the whole partition was ruined. Only a battery with question mark.
First, I fixed the fastboot and recovery. Then fixed the whole partition table using @swiczak 's process. This process has a tiny flaw with the "droidboot.bin" file. I have right file to use. Thanks for keeping me up with this. :highfive:
@mohdyaz, bro......can u have a little patience? I will post a total guide with steps and required files. Till then, take a break. :good:

Hello,
You need to read this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...signing-boot-images-android-verified-t3600606
The thread contains a zip (verified boot signer v2 zip) that you must install right after you install the TWRP zip on latest May version...
This is weird your phone is not recognized while in bootloader.
Boot the bootloader and issue:
fastboot devices
Does it output your serial number in the command prompt?
Good luck...

You shouldn't be modding you're device if you have to rely on a toolkit to save you. What if there wasn't a toolkit. You'd be SOL.
I highly recommend you learn how to use fastboot and adb, and do this stuff the right way. I'm not trying to be mean or anything. I just would hate to see you brick you're device. These pixel phones cost way too much to be screwing around with if you don't know what you're doing.

Honestly the best way I found to learn adb and fastboot is YouTube. It's so much easier to watch how to do it. Thats how I learned. There's also @Heisenberg 6p guide. That can get you all setup for adb and fastboot too. It's very comprehensive.

I wish. At&t has the bootloader locked down. All the other steps will probably work. Twrp would have to be built for M255. Thanks for the response.
So, you don't have "allow device to be OEM unlocked" option in developer options?

Not as of yet. Sorry.
Hey all, just got this phone, I had originally "done some research" when I was at the att store, and found root instructions for the lg k20 PLUS (missed that plus part). So I bought the phone and now im finding out there's currently no root method, which means, as usual, I have to at least try. I warn you, I'm no fulltime dev, so don't get too excited, im the kind of guy that still needs plenty of help with this stuff, but I'm setting up a dev environment and digging in.
My question right now is, has anyone been able to access the bootloader? I read thru the k20plus root topic a bit and they say to use
#adb reboot bootloader#
or hold VOLDOWN and plug usb while powered off.
Nothing seems to bring me to a bootloader.
#adb reboot bootloader#
reboots the device and I assume it tries to boot the bootloader and fails, because windows chirps as if it's been disconnected, then my device proceeds to boot up normally.
Holding VOLDOWN and plugging the usb makes the phone show a splash screen momentarily and then switch to the powered off charging screen.
Has anybody been able to access the bootloader?
-BMFC
Still waiting here too. ??
What u mean with "bootloader" are fastboot.
To get into download-mode hold Vol+ & plug-in usb
