Improve your phone audio performance :Ac!d Audio Engine version 5.0 is up! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

IIf you want to improve your phone audio performance, try Ac!d audio technology.
they incorporated mixture of the best audio technologies available for this platform into one (sony, beats, dsp manager, etc).
EDIT: V5.0 IS UP FOR SGS PHONE. Working smoothly on JK 5 ROM.
Here is the website :

Or here

make sure you download the files from Samsung link, not other phones. I noticed these 2 packages are different. More apps in the universal version. I tested the universal version and I can confirm this zip cause boot-loop on my device.
Installation Procedure:
1. You must start from clean rom. If your rom has pre installed dsp like awesomebeats, find out how to remove them from system. Any binaries, libraries and apk related files must be removed.
2. Reboot to recovery and do wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache. use darkside cache wipe if you are using CWM 5xxxx. recovery.
3 . install the zip files. 2 option by using aroma or manual installation. Choose only acid engine with one of these addon: walkman, awesomebeats, noozxoide. I Recommended to use awesomebeats.
4. Do another wipes and fix permission then reboot. again use darkside script if you are on CWM 5xxx recovery. Reboot. Let sit for 5 minutes then do 2nd reboot.
5. Add some lines on the build. Prop. Follow the instructions from the dev post. Reboot.
6.go to setting-sound-music effects and change to your desire eq.
7.open dolby mobile and give permission.
8.optional: download noozxoide eizo pro from play store. This apps will allow sound effects adjustment for pandora.
Test with walkman, pandora, Google play music, or any other players and see if changing the dsp setting will make the difference.
Don't forget to click "thanks" if you like this mod.
all credit goes to the great team of audio engineer developers of this mods (R-ikfoot / Knight47 / Rizal Lovins / ThilinaC / Krabappel2548). Thanks for their hard work. It is truly magnificent piece of software. Again if you like to pay tribute, you can donate some money for UNICEF.

I tried the version 2 with jedi knight 3 ROM and it works awesome!!
I found couple issues with tts voice navigation not speaking street names after installing this. Hopefully re-installing maps apps will resolved the issue.
Awesome Beats adjustment did not work with Pandora, but I can definitely tell the improvement of the overall music experience.
Version 3.0 is coming soon for Samsung devices. Hope they can fixed all the issues.

Question. I have beats/dsp manager built into the rom I'm using - cm10/paranoid Android on my tmobile G-S II.
Can I just flash this over it or what do I need to do with dsp?
It won't allow me to just uninstall dsp manager

HI Op what's the SGS Audio Hack? does that just boost the volume without the audio enhancements of the Ac!d Audio app?
Sounds like you have put together some features that everyone is looking for :good: I'm currently using the Volume+ app which is also pretty good but not working on JB yet. I was wondering if yours is working with JB and if there are some major differences between the two.
Thanks

You'll need an app like Titanium Back up or Root explorer or Rom Toolbox to delete DSP. Normally two audio enhancing apps will usually not work together well and you'll have to delete one of them.

Thanks for clarifying that. That's correct. Remove any sound effect apps from the system before flashing. Do wipe cache + dalvik before flashing and repeat 1 more time after flashing + fix permission.
If you want to know if this mod working with your rom just go to their website to read the detail. All I know is this work fine with stock based rom. I'm using jedi knight 3.5 rom. Trust me I tried most of audio enhancement apps available but nothing beat this audio quality performance . The bass is pronounced very clear and bold without over powering and everything else are nice and clear. No distortion or crackling that i notice so far.
I'm not certain the purpose for SGS Audio Hack.. I just installed all of them including walkman apps and all works really well.

fe1ixs, can you tell me how you set up the app, using Playerpro and Pandora i find no difference in audio with the app on or off. I deleted the Volume+ app and cleared the caches prior to installing the app to remove any conflicts (I only installed the ac!d audio since it says it's all that's needed) and set up the music settings according to the apps instructions and then also played around with the settings using the phones speaker and headphones. With the other app I was using there is a very noticeable increase in volume with all phone functions and music which is what I was hoping to find here but with a bit better music quality,
Thanks,

Sorry to hear you have trouble installing the apps. First af all what rom are you using?
Here is the steps I did. I'm using custom stock 4.0.4 based rom.
1. Delete dsp manager using titanium backup. You might want to delete other sound effect apps like awesome beats, volume+, equalizer, musicfx if any.
2. Reboot to recovery and do wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache.
3 . install the zip files. I installed 3 of them start with the ac! D.
4. Do another wipes and fix permission then reboot
Since you 've already installed the apps and seems like you havke no fc issues, I will just go back to Recovery and do wipes + fix permission. See if it works. play with the setting start with bass.
If still not working, restore from backup and follow the steps above.

I'm on JMT X which is a 4.0.3 I don't think that would make a difference though, maybe that's what the SGS volume hack is for your steps above is how I installed so that's not it. Trying to find out exactly what the hack is needed for on their website. I did notice the app zip is for the SGSIII so maybe the hack is needed for the SGSII?????

Thanks for the help, been testing it out most of the afternoon and even flashed Jedi Knight 3.5 which is a 4.0.4 ROM and I did get a small increase in volume over stock but it doesn't compare with the performance increase I get from Volume+ (as long as I stay on ICS or GB). Sorry but V+ just blows it out of the water in all aspects especially in volume increase.

I get this app to stop running and have to close it. I'm on stock 4.0.4.
Don't have DSP or Volume +. I do have JetAudio though.
Is there an Acid app also? Not what other applications to look for. I installed the Sony Walkman App and see it.
Also, followed instructions to a "T".

Does this work on AOKP?

[MOD] Speaker volume boost using DSP Manager (CWM zip - Works better than vol+ apps)

Hi, I just found this and went with flashing it on GummyNex ROM.
It works well. Better and cleaner than vol+ apps in my opinion.
Credit goes to CyanogenMod and RootzWiki teams. I'm just letting users know about it and requesting ROM creators to include this in their builds. Thanks

Enable Equalizer
Preset: Bass Booster

Very good find. Working on AOKP 14.
Hi,
I use Volume+ (pro).
I wanted to test ...Nothing for me for notifications and ringtones...
I flashed your ZIP and of course before i uninstalled Volume+ due to incompatibility between the two.
For me no improvement for notifications and ringtones, light for music/media for speaker (not bad). And i searched for best settings...
What i mean, those who say that Volume+ does not work would not be to bad to bad settings???
Volume+ offers much settings, that may need to be tested...For both my Sensation and Gnex i uses this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362335 (there are other settings arround the web,but those are good for me)+ i ticked Speaker Modifications in the first part and Virtual Room Effect,in the last part just adjust the Volume Level for your desire...and it works for all the sounds coming out of speakers and, yes, included the ringtones,etc...
For me,aokp rom,Volume+ works great.
For example on my HTC Sensation with CM7 i never heard an improvement in ringtones (comes with DspManager) but with Volume+ i see the difference...
So,sorry for the little off-topic (i know it's not the topic of Volume+),but since I just test your ZIP i give my opinion about it...
In any case i do not understand why Volume + does not work for everyone (ringtones/notifications) ,problems in settings
And why DspManager works for a few for ringtones/notifications and not for the others
And "vice versa"
Strange for me

[APP] - DSPManager for Nexus 7

Here is a flashable DSP Manager app that works for Nexus 7. I have only tested it on Jr5, and it works fine. I have also tried enabling the Bass Boost built into Google Music, and that works well combined with DSP Manager, for that extra bass boost.
Remember kids, take a nandroid backup before flashing just incase.
I have basically used a package that I used for my HTC One X, sorry I am not sure where it came from originally.

Yes, its supposed to show.
Try going to settings --> sound and see if DSP manager is available under music effects
Doesn't matter that you wiped them, as that shouldn't touch your apps or the partition where your apps are stored.
Try flashing beats+xlouder from the development section, and flash the dspmanager zip from that thread on top. It should show up then.

Worked fine on mine running latest version of paranoid android. I have found using awesome beats works much better as it has DSP and dre beats all in one app. I found flashing dre beats app and dsp desperately causes a conflict so you would have to use awesome beats... Anyone with other reccomendations for eq are more than welcome to let me know.

"NOOZBEATS v.3.0" Sound Mods that works for SGH-T989

Important update:
Latest v3.0 is available now! Post in the bottom of this op page.
!I just want to share my luck with sound mods to this community. I'm not dev by any means. I just found this by trial & error. Believe me I had tried everything from Ac!d, rezound beats, volume+, equalizer dsp manager, etc. Nothing works 100% smooth like this one. I only tested this mod with Google play music, pandora, tune in, and Apollo. Please report if not working with your player other than above.
Works well with my phone system. It may works for other phone or rom too. Here is my phone specs:
Phone: Samsung galaxy S2 Tmobile SGH-T989
ROM: Jedi knight 5 ICS 4.0.4
This mods is mixed between awesome beats and noozxoide dsp. To make it easier, I just name it "Noozbeats". The zip file contains binaries, apk, and libraries files that are required to get the best possible way for noozxoide to work at the fullest.
If your rom already had awesome beats built in, you probably just need to download noozxoide dsp from the market and simply remove awesome beats from system/app and change music effect from setting-sound to noozxoide.
If you rom has dsp manager or other sound apps, find out how to clear them up/uninstall prior to install this mod.
Installation procedure:
1. Download awesome beats file from this link
http://db.tt/TECcsxlp
2 . Reboot to recovery.
3. Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
4. Flashed the zip file.
5. Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
6. Fix permission.
7. Reboot system.
8. With root or es explorer, navigate to system/app and remove awesome beats. Apk.
9. go to play store and search for "noozxoide Pro" and install.
10. Go to phone setting - sound and change music effect from musicfx to noozxoide.
11. Reboot and enjoy!
NoozBeats v.2.0
This is basically Acid audio engine v.5.0 with minor modification to work with all players including Pandora.
I found this audio mod better than the early version of NoozBeats.
The main concepts remain the same. I want to combine awesomebeats with noozxoide. but this time we will also incorporated Acid audio mod which claimed to use the latest HTC beats audio (newer version of awesomebeats) plus their proprietary audio mod. This time, the awesomebeats can be used together with noozxoide.
Always start from clean rom. Remove any audio effect files prior to flash.
Installation procedure:
1a. Download Acid audio engine v5.0 simple zip for samsung optimized from here. If you are using different phone other than Samsung, look into the official ACID post to download the compatible version for your phone.
1b. Download Acid awesomebeats from here
2 . Reboot to recovery.
3. Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
4. Flashed the zip files. Acid audio engine first.
5. Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
6. Fix permission.
7. Reboot system.
8. Add the following lines into system\build.prop. use root explorer note editor to edit :
(notes: the following build.prop has been edited from the original to fix some typo error)
#Sony Xloud & Clearbass +
ro.semc.sound_effects_enabled=true
ro.semc.xloud.supported=true
persist.service.xloud.enable=1

af.resampler.quality=255
persist.af.resampler.quality=255
#Beats Engine
htc.audio.swalt.enable=1
htc.audio.swalt.mingain=14512
9. go to play store and search for "noozxoide Pro" and install.
10. Go to phone setting - sound and change music effect from musicfx to noozxoide or awesomebeats (I set the default setting to awesomebeats)
11. Reboot
12. Leave the phone idle for approx 5 minutes. Let the system run its update. at this point you might not get the cell signal/service. But don't worry, it will come back to normal after your reboot.
13. reboot and enjoy!
Notes :
If the phone refuse to boot at the 1st time after you edit the build.prop, hold the power button for few seconds and let it reboot for the 2nd time.
Noozbeats v3.0
Before we start, I just want to let you know this is basically the same as acid 7 mod found right herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=81
Since many of you confuse how to correctly install this driver, i would like to share my tips that proven to be work. I'm on jb 4.1.2 aosp base.
So if you are on different ROM base, choose/download the right driver before going through the installation steps.
As an alternative, if acid 7 gives you trouble, you can install awesome beats v5 by team inferno. Combine with noozxoide, this mod work awesome system wide. Link is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38712153
Follow my steps carefully :
1. Uninstall any DSP apps from your system using titanium backup or ROM toolbox. Don't bother with other files or editing build.prop. this was my previous mistake and cause boot loop.
2.reboot to recovery and full wipes (wipe cache + dalvik).
3. Flash AOSP2 + AOSP3 files from acid. Adjust this according to your ROM / Phone spec. If you choose to installed awesome beats v5, flash the aroma version.
4.full wipes + fix permissions & reboot.
5. Go to system/bin and find aa engine. Press long hold on it and choose properties. Change permission to
rwx r-- r-- (user group other). You need root permission to do this.
If you choose the awesome beats v5, find awesome under system/bin
6.run terminal emulator and type :
su
Aaengine or awesome for awesome beats
7.wait until finish rebuilding build.prop and then reboot to recovery.
8.full wipes and flash clear audio+ OR noozxoide addons (select just one). For noozxoide you can download directly from play store for the updated version. I prefer noozxoide. Work smoothly with beats and added its own effect to it. clear audio+ in my view is more like adding more power to the beats. You can also installed audiofx widget. It might do something with some players. But during my test with streaming players, it has no effect.
9. Full wipes and fix permission.
10. Reboot and enjoy the magic
tips :
- Always use high quality earbud/headphones otherwise you might not hear the differences.
- set line-in/headset boost/psychoacoustic to medium or large.
- enable equalizer. set preset to acoustic/audiophile
- enable virtual effect/surround. set to studio
- open dolby mobile on the apps drawer and give root permission.
- increase volume level to 50% or more
- Test by playing some songs. Not all songs can produced wide range of frequencies. Home by Michael Bubble is a good song for testing.
Don't forget to hit "thanks" if you like this mods.
Credit to ACID team for their latest audio mod.

I just want to share my luck with sound mods to this community.

I've been using this combo for a while, works great and sounds wonderful with the right settings. Crisp highs, and thumping lows. Clear as a bell. Good buds or head phones make it sound even better. I'm on Liquidsmooth rc8 (best rom ever), and use this combo on my Nexus 7 with 4.2 as well.
Is it this one? just to make sure.

I've been using Beats with alsa + AudioFX Widget lately with this preset and there's no distortion in bass or quality. I had to disable DSP Manager.
Eq: Car Stereo
Rev: Medium Room
Bass: 100%
Vr: 60%
I'm gonna try this out and see how it goes, thanks

I also tried this combo, for awhile I was using it with the walkman music player. It was good. Then I tried the 3D maven music player (using the xome setting of the player) , it was as smooth as silk. This is my opinion, someone else might have a different opinion. Although maven music player, doesn't have a paid version, it only has a free version - which has annoying ads in it. And the play/pause button of the BT headphone doesn't work with the maven music player.

[APP] Modified DSP Manager

NOTE
I take no credit for the Creation of DSP manager or the Awesome beats modifications by team inferno
Awesome Beats V3 modified DSP manager for nexus 4
Since getting my nexus 4 the only thing i had wanted was DSP manager after ALOT of searching i discovered that the modified DSP manger 'Awesome beats v3" by team inferno works on android 4.2
HOWEVER it had a major flaw in that it broke the default Music FX; this was not ideal.
ALL i have done is modified the flashable .zip so that it will no longer break AOSP MusicFX that came with the Nexus 4.
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
- ensure that your phone is unlocked and Clockwork Recovery is installed
- download the .zip
- flash with clockwork
- ensure Awesome beats is selected in settings -> sound -> Music Effects

DSP manager should affect all audio sources not just the music player. it may be hard to tell on youtube tho because various audio sources are used and not all are good quality.
also i have not been able to test with 4.2.1 yet so im not sure if there are any issues but i will test it once my replacement N4 arrives next Tuesday.

[MOD]ACID Audio Engine V7.0 / BeatsEQ - SEPT 3

AC!D Audio
DISCLAIMER:
I don't claim this to be my work nor dev it. I just want to share my finding...and flash at your own RISK!! I'm not responsible for what happened after. A big thanks to the AC!D team. Please if you have the time thanks them.
OK with that out of the way...
I have tested and confirmed that AC!D v7.0 works for our S4. When I say confirmed it mean I tested multiple version and let it sit before I shared it.
Here's the original link to the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923630
Tested on WICKED v2 (which is a TouchWiz rom) with TWRP 2.5.0.0
NOT COMPATIBLE w/ WICKED 5.1 Use V5.0
**MUST BE ROOTED**
Installation instructions:
1. MAKE A NANOID BACK-UP!!!! (I can't stress how important this step is)
2. Download v7.0 AOSP3 [2805] ONLY!!!
3. Download Add-ons either: Clear+Audio or Noozxoidelabs.noozy.84.011 (Your pick...I like Noozxoide personally.)
4. Reboot into recovery.
5. Flash AOSP3 [2805] (this will take a while, don't worry it's installing...)
6. Wipe cache/dalvik (I do this twice just in case)
7. Flash add-on
8. Wipe cache/dalvik (I do this twice just in case)
9. Fix permission.
10. Reboot and enjoy. :victory:
The build.prop will be added. To confirm this use Root Explorer and goto /system/build.prop and go to the bottom and you should see the added props.
Sound setting I prefer putting on your headphone and test all options. It varies from each person. One thing I do not like is how the actual volume button is weak I have to put it on MAX...so until there's a mod for that you just have to live with it! :silly:
Issue: If you are experiencing issue with EQ not working or buzzing noise.
Fix: I may suggest you recover to previous backup before the 2805 flash and flash 2802 first then 2805. As some have issue with 2805. Can't confirm call quality on AOSP rom.
After some testing it's noted what 2802 is best by it's self with certain TW rom.
Q&A:
Q) Why can't I just download the Stock Rom version?
A) Because I tested that and it will send your phone into bootloop.
Q) How do I know the mod is working?
A) Test the option with your headphone on and YOU'LL SEE THE DIFFERENCE!
Q) Do I have to flash the add-ons?
A) Nope, your choice. The actual mod has Beats EQ already.
Q) Have you tested this on a STOCK rom?
A) No I haven't. I only did this on WICKED ROM.
Enjoy your new mod and happy modding!
Beats EQ
First, Thanks to merchant2112 for finding this. I don't claim any of these work to be mines.
Second, I did installed it and ran it for several days before updating OP.
Beats EQ
Download link:
http://d-h.st/7Jm
Pre-Installation steps:
Ideally a fresh/clean install would be great, but...
A dirty flash over AC!D is OKAY. You would need to uninstalled Ac!d audio v5.0 or v7.0. Please uninstalled all the Ac!d audio app and any add-ons you might have (noozoixde, clear audio+, etc...).
***If you don't this will cause random restart. I used TiBu to wipe data and uninstalled.
Installation steps:
1. NANOID BACKUP!!!
2. Wipe dalvik and cache x2
3. Flash BMSound_Full_S4_LTE.Zip
4. Wipe dalvik and cache x2
5. Fix permission
6 Select BeatsEQ on your Setting>Sound>Music effects.
Test out all the setting and see what's best for your ears.
Note: Extreme is pretty extreme and some of the bass might be very distorted so consider that before going extreme.

ACID V7.0 2805 will flash fine n a wipe install of CM10.1 or any other AOSP such as Slim Rom etc. but it will kill Phone call audio. It only works on TW based roms. You must use ACID V5.0 optimized for Samsung roms on all AOSP roms so that Phone call audio works. They both sound great and our a huge improvement in audio quality in conjunction with PlayerPro with DSP Pack and PowerAmp. I am using Slim ROM V5.4 with Acid V5.0 and Phone call audio works perfect and audio quality with PlayerPro and 10 Band DSP Pack is as good as it gets and sounds just as good as Wicked V2 TW with ACID V7.0 2805 + Clearaudio.

I am using Acid V7 2805. on the Death Star V2 ROM posted here. My phone audio works perfectly. The only deviation I used from OP is when I went to the referenced site I had actually downloaded the AOSP 3 2802 file instead of the 2805 file. This was based on what I had read on that site. I then downloaded the correct 2805 AOSP3 file, flashed, wiped caches, fixed permissions and also used the Noozy apk reference in OP. Again, audio works perfectly for phone. I'm blown away by the sound quality and the shear loudness achieved when listening using my Monster Titanium Turbine Pro bud I bought almost 4 years ago. I use probably half dozen various music apps including PowerAmp Pro and all works perfectly on my S4. Just my own observations.
