Samsung has said it will be available in a future update. There is a letter in another thread.

Sorry for the bump. I've been wondering what happened to this feature

Samsung says they will not release this feature anymore due to potential licensing and copyright issues.

I-cry....

I don't think there will ever be developed something like that for our G3
And in my opinion not really needed to

Cool Brightness Shortcut

So I was just messing around with my phone and I found this cool way to change your brightness settings without having to go into settings. So besically all you have to do is slide across the top bar of the phone (where the time, battery, and data signal notifiers are). But do not pull down the notification bar just slide across the bar sliding to the right turns up the brightness sliding it left turns down the brightness. It works on GB and ICS. I dont know if this is a known feature or if samsung put it in there or if its just a glitch but i just wanted to share it.

No I'm not. I'm trying to figure out why people like you are flaming me when I was just posting something I thought was useful if you already knew about it then great. Leave the flaming comments to yourself.
I've had this phone since December and didn't even know about this! Thanks I missed this from cm7 roms

Lmao.. this is where CM7 got the idea from. Aswell as having toggles in the notification bar, also borrowed from Twiz.
I am not flaming, but do non of toy even look at your operation manual?
First the screen shot key combo and now this. I guess cracking the manual open for five minutes does have its purpose.
Any other Sammy secrets deep within the dreaded user manual?

I've been using android for over two years and I didn't know about the existence of this shortcut. Thanks for sharing!
To the flamers: Keep it up. Pretty soon you'll completely destroy any atmosphere of sharing and open exchange and render XDA irrelevant as a resource for new, experienced users and everyone in between.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to get Android 4.2

I assume it's a fact our phone will be getting AndroidOS 4.2, but does anyone have a link as to when that might be?
Thanks for any info.

But you can be sure there will be links to the rom file asap. Courtesy of XDA members.

I` am sure we will get 4.2, it is not a major update. Even the Note 1 gets Jellybean after a year. Samsung isn`t LG fortunately
Sammobile just leaked a new jb firmware for gt n7000...in that post they say that jb 4.2 is planned for Q1 2013 release...for s3 n note 2...

And having a hacked together build not meant for our device would likely be a fantastic experience and a good indication of how their OS works.

If you're not going to post anything constructive and stay respectful then it's probably a good idea that you don't post anything at all. Many OS' have been ported to different devices so bashing others for suggesting it is just asinine.

Porting a closed source OS? That would be a waste of time.

Revive original note 7

Hey there,
I've just registered in XDA because I've no idea what to do and maybe someone with some knowledge could enlighten me.
The situation: I have an original note 7 on my hands and I updated it to "death update" and now I can not use the phone even if it's plugged in.
The question is: is there any chance to make a downgrade to the phone? I've tried to boot download mode and recovery but there is no answer.
If I change the battery to one from a S7 edge for instance, is there any chance to make it turn on again?
Is there any other solution to turn it on?
Thanks a lot for the help
Cheers!!
PS Sorry for being this my first post, but I'm truly lost. Thaks a lot
