You have to uninstall the previous version first. Worked perfectly for me then. Thanks for actually posting the apk.

Installed this but have had some problems. One is you can't delete mail in your trash folder. Also i know it was a problem for the old one but you can't select all in trash folder. And i accidentally archived a email and don't know how to get you the archived section. Any pointers?

yeah, and how many more years before the gmail icon shows how many new emails you have?
i prefer the stock samsung email client which has more features, indicates how many emails you have waiting, and doesn't require "sync" to be enabled for push mail.. apparently for google this is rocket science.

Nova prime has an "unread" count for e-mail, phone calls and mms.
For those who may be having trouble installing use TB to unistall current gmail apk, reboot. install new apk on root of sd card and use a root explorer to install the new one.

Im not sure why people are having issues with this. I love this update. I made it so I can swype to delete messages plus when you go into Gmail you can see how many unread messages you have.

Were u able to delete the mail in the trash folder?

I never tried it but I did once I read your post and I was unable to delete anything in the trash folder which gets clean every 30 days anyway. But I selected all and did not see a setting to delete even tried to swipe but nothing happened. Very strange they did not add that feature.

Worked for me after uninstall with TiBu, reboot, install.
Thanks. Glad Google finally added these features.

Decent beta app. I can get it to force close with a certain swipe out of my spam folder. I don't think it's fully ready for release yet.

ICS Gmail Push Doesn't Work

I've always used K9 mail because the 2.x stock Gmail app wasn't that good, but I'm really liking the ICS Gmail app. Only problem is push mail doesn't work. I tried the stock Email app too and that's not working either. I would hate to have to use K9 with a great stock app, but I really want push mail to work. Any suggestions?
I did a brief search and didn't come up with anything useful so sorry if I missed a known fix for this.

It works perfectly fine for me! I must be lucky cause I couldn't be happier with this phone. everythings works 100%.
I found sync turned off. Double check accounts and sync.

Sync is on for both of my Google accounts and still no push mail. I flashed the Android Revolution Hd ROM but I don't think that would have anything to do with it.

I use both Gmail and corporate exchange on email. Both push fine.
LTE Google Galaxy Nexus! - Stock
Asus Transformer - OC/UV
I've been using gmail perfectly fine for over 2 years now. Push has always worked for me. From an OG Droid, to Nexus S, to Galaxy Nexus.
Working great for me; I can hear my computer ding when I get a new email at virtually the same time my phone does, so I am satisfied that push mail is working.
Weird part is that I've never had an issue getting push mail through K9. It works on and off with the stock Gmail app.

Well good chance it is, since push mail works perfectly on stock. I have 2 Gmail and 1 regular email account set up in the Accounts section and all of them work perfectly.
Probably is the ROM. I don't really need push mail until I'm back in school anyways so I'm not gonna worry about it too much.

Riiiiiiight, so you flashed a custom ROM on your phone and so it must be Google's fault that push email isn't working for you, when it is working for everyone who is running stock ICS? Yeah of course

K9 uses IMAP_IDLE for 'push email', whereas the Gmail app (from what I had read back when I first got an Android in 2009) uses it's own method for push email. It may even use C2DM. This may explain why you are not having trouble with K9, but are having trouble with the proper Gmail app.
It does seem to be the custom ROM you have flashed.

For some reason on stock AT&T when going into Settings > Application Manager (Select ALL) I see two Gmail apps. One is Gmail 1.0 and the other is Gmail 4.1.2.

If you are rooted then use a File Manager like "Root Explorer" & go into /system/app & rename gmail.apk to gmail.apk.bak. Then copy the 4.2 gmail apk to /system/app and lastly change the permission (4.2 gmail.apk) to RW-R--R--.

Don't remove Gmail 1.0. It's useful label, which is responsible for the opening Gmail mails with Gmail by default.
Without Gmail 1.0 my phone is restarting by itself each time when I try to set the default access to the mails.

[APP]Disable SMS to MMS Conversion

I have not created this App this app has been ripped from other Forum thought this may help as it did for me so i am just sharing it here as i did not find it here
Disable SMS to MMS Conversion
This modification disables the incredibly annoying "feature" that Samsung chooses to add to its messaging app, where any SMS message of a sensible length (ie. longer than 3 SMS messages) will be converted into an MMS message.
A brilliant idea for those who pay for each message they send, as 3xSMS is about the cost of an MMS, which can carry much more text. Unfortunately for Samsung, they're a few years too late here - most people don't pay for their SMSs individually any more. And they likely would need to pay to send an MMS.
Enter this modification, which lets you send long messages again without issue.
Attached is the LEGACY version of this plugin for Xposed API 2.0 RC2. DO NOT USE THIS VERSION. Use the up-to-date one in the download manager.

disable sms to mms conversion
Thanks all for help so far.
The Creation mode doesn't seem to make a difference. Reason I want it disabled is because my company don't allow MMS, so long SMS just change to MMS and fail to send! I was wondering why this guy hadn't replied to my text........
I have tried the Application, and it appears to install but makes not difference. Reading more it looks like I need to use that general Tweaking app, and that you need Root?
Please confirm, because I cannot root my phone as I need to use Good, and my company have Good set to not run on Rooted devices.
I'm really not bothered about having to use another app, as I already use Whatapp wherever I can to keep my SMS (which I have to get billed by text for) down, so would prefer not to have two seperate 'Text' apps, further to the core Android one, which I am generally pleased with?
Solutions appreciated... or, is there an app that brings all Whatapps, texts and Emails into one 'stream' that you can disable SMS to MMS on?
XDA rules...
The app needs xposed framework to run. You have to be rooted to install xposed but once installed and activated you can unroot again. I don't know of any way to disable the mms conversion without rooting first

I'm a little late on here, kind of a noob when it comes to this as well, but anyways so i've installed xposed installer and got a couple modules to download, install and work properly but when i try this one, i get "Parse error". Any ideas? I absolutely HATE that Samsung has this limit!
You can use wannam xposed from the play store, it has this option in it. Sounds like a bad download though

The tab feature separates your email into different sections. Like primary, social, etc. To configure it go to the desktop version and once logged in to Gmail click on tje little gear at tje top right and click on configure inbox. This is where u can select what tabs are used or you can deselect them all and just keep it like it used to be. It is basically a way to organize your email by categories. Hope that helps.

I don't know how you guys never poke around an apps settings (first thing i always do). They didn't take away any feature. If you look in settings you'd see it and turn it on. Don't know why it's off by default, but it's there.
Are there any themers here that can possibly invert this?

And, as @imablackhat revealed, the Play Store isn't offering the latest version (v2.0.122 (904984-30) to everyone, which actually features SMS/MMS.
As of right now, you're linking to version 1.2.018 (without SMS/MMS).
BTW, the Play Store link doesn't mean much when users from different countries may not be able to access it anyway.
Hi everyone,
Let's keep it friendly please, no need to bicker over something as little as an APK post

Google is pushing out Hangouts 2.0 at a different rate across the country so even by linking to the Play Store link it does no effect if Google has not pushed Hangouts to that usergroup yet.

I haven't tried disabling it, but I cannot see that it would cause issues. I have not disabled/"turned-off" mine, but I also haven't had it open up randomly either after disabling all notifications for it.
