Laggy / Slow Note 2 even after stock restore - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, so I have a problem with my Note II. I installed a rom yesterday which is where these problems seem to start from. The phone is glitchy, and when the screen is left of for more than 2 minites or so, it wont turn on unless I remove the battery. Also, after I re-boot the battery level is normally 10% less than before. Another issue I had is that I couldn't boot into recovery after flashing this rom however I have no fixed this by using Odin to re-flash CWM recovery.img. But even after going back to by stock backup I made in CWM before I flashed this rom, the problem still persistes (Laggy, freezes)
All I can think of is that this Rom (Omega 3.0) uses AROMA to install, could that be a issue?
Any Ideas anyone? Im not worried about any of the files on the device just want to get it sorted!
Thanks

I recomment a full wipe using Odin...
It will definitely get it sorted... full wipe, then install the stock rom...
No way this wont work :good:

Not at all its as easy as a cupcake
Just know the terms for it
Would you hear a brotherly advice (which i would do myself?)
Use the superwipe script from Android Revolution HD and install mike's ROM. It should have the same effect as odin wipe, only better...
Mike's roms are known to be the best ever. They are totally stock! just extreme perfomance...
So its better thsn going back to stock

Right okay that sounds like a plan, I dont know if I will be able to keep the phone on long enough to download all thta and as I cant connect it to the computer unless its in download mode :/ I could give it a go though, could you post a link to what I need please? Yes, im a complete noob

Put the ROM of your choice on internal sdcard (I also put the same zip on the external just in case something goes wrong)
Make the appropriate backups of apps, data, contacts, sms, pictures and whatnot.
Reboot into recovery and do a full wipe, explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909868
Flash ze ROM.
Edit: In CWM, this is how I do a full wipe.
Format system
Format data
Format cache
Format preload
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Sometimes I also do the "fix permissions" at this point.
Then I flash the ROM.

You can find the superwipe script from this forum too...
But be sure to put your downloaded rom on SD card, not internal SD...

Because superwipe wipes anyyyything! On the phone. Anything.
It couldnt be sofrware issue...
Try to go back up on stock rom, restore your EFS (if you backed it up!) and claim warranty? there must be a solution with sammy for this...
This isnt normal... you can try :good:

I think thats what im gonna have to do I did try superwipe and still nothing. Is there a easy way to go back to stock? Using odin? Will I have to delete CWM for this? :S

Yes yes deleting CWM is important for that.
And i just found the backup/restore EFS tool for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922473
Yup you have to go to stock using ODIN...
Try to flash ALIH? I dunno...i thinkthat would be better and less suspicious

Why restoring EFS?? Also i dont think that restoring EFS is ging to erase cwm
Stock roms from sammobile (full roms) include recovery.img, so after flashing with Odin he is going to have stock recovery. After that through stock recovery, wipe cache+wipe data/factory reset.
And before visiting repair center, flash stock rom from sammobile and check your phone if problem is still there. I think that somehow with the custom rom and restoring cwm backup you f***ed up software

Restoring EFS because he is going to give his Note in warranty...
Until you backup and restore your original EFS, samsung keeps the track of the number of times you flash so it does not accept warranty.
Restoring EFS is the only chance to claim warranty.
restoring EFS doesnt remove recovery.. hmmm...
Is there any way to remove recovery?

In order to remove cwm recovery, just flash a full stock rom with pc odin
Are you sure about warranty and EFS? In order to backup/restore original EFS you need root, so one way or another you need to flash one or more times
Are you 100% sure?

[Backup] Stock Rom

Here is a stock rom backup for the Sprint G S III. I made the backup after doing a data wipe, so the rom is pure, no lingering data, ect.
Instructions:
-unzip the .zip file
-move the backup folder into your existing CWM folder on the S III internal memory
-restore in recovery
Again, this is a stock backup as some people need it.

It's not, it's a backup. That's not the point, it's still useful to many users that have possibly screwed their device but still have access to recovery. Especially until something official comes out.

Eventually there will be, but a lot of people [to include major developers] still don't have the phone yet, so we'll have to be patient. I looked over it, though currently are you able to get into recovery still or no? Additionally did you try re-flashing the cwm recovery in odin?
I can get into download mode but not into CWMR. The only thing i have tried flashing since it bricked is boot-stock-sprint-sph-l710.tar (which sort of worked the first time). I'm at work and don't have my phone on me so i guess i could try flashing CWMR again later but this is really weird. Thanks for the reply. This is my first Sprint phone, but on my Droid X we had a program similar to Odin where you could push a .sbf file that included everything stock and basically just reset your phone to stock. Do these exist for Sprint phones? The . SBF files were usually rather large(around 350mb or so) but the boot-stock-sprint-sph-l710.tar is around 10 or 15 mb so i know it doesn't include all the system files...
Thanks again

Lol i just replied the same thing over on another thread he posted in. Stop jumping around pizzle! if you can get into Odin chances are good you can flash cwm and then restore the backup
hahaha sorry about that. When I try and boot into recovery it looks like its about to go to Recovery and then freezes on the Galaxy S III screen. I'll try reflashing CWMR when I get home...Thanks for the advice
So is a back up a nandriod?
I have made a few but never resorted one, you just flash it same as a ROM and your done?
I misplaced my stock nandroid when I flashed CM10 build 2 and my extFs SD card had to be formatted to use again, I was sure I had in on PC but can't find it.
Thanks!

I tried using 3.0.4 and it did not work, however i was able to flash CWM through odin so now everything is wiped clean. Hopefully stock rom will go through this time.
Edit: yup, that did it. flashing CWM was so crucial.

SIMPLE FIX....
preform factory reset in recovery before (or after) flashing stock.
Stock odin flash does not flash or wipe data partition. and some files that you have in there become incompatible with older firmware and stop stock from booting.
NOTE!!!!! factory reset from STOCK recovery WILL WIPE SD CARD TOO!!!
CWM recovery factory reset WILL NOT wipe sd card... backup your pics and downloads!!!!

[Q] TWRP Recovery Will Not Flash or Restore

I really hate to start a new thread but I really can't find a reason/solution to this issue. It's just as the title says. I tried flashing the MIUI ROM just as any ROM and got a failed error. Then went to do my nandroid restore and it just hangs on the splash screen (boot screen). Anyway I thought there could be a bad download so I took out the SD and redownloaded synergy on my laptop, then put it back in the phone and nothing but the nandroid should let me restore. I even tried moving the files to the internal SD and nothing. The only thing I can think of is to Odin back to stock? Is it the same method as rooting? I'm sure I can find that out, but I'm just confused why it seems TWRP doesn't want to work. Thanks for any help, it's 4 a.m. here and I'm dog tired.
Are you on the latest TWRP?
If all else fails you could go back to stock and root again.

Can I just reflash recovery from the state I'm in, or do I still need to unroot? I've moved some of my files to the ext SD within recovery but some things won't move and I really don't want to wipe it.

are you able to flash a different rom, say a stock rom? It's possible you got a corrupted TWRP download.
Since they just released another update 2.4.3, you might want to try and download the zip file, wipe cashe and davick (may want to do it three times). Reboot back into TWRP 2.4.3 and see if it gives you some better luck.
I've had Nandroid backup that didn't work for whatever reason. I didn't test it prior to needing it, and got burned. It just wouldn't show up in the restore menu.
On a side note, what error did you get when you tried flashing MIUI?
Try rebooting recovery when you are in recovery already once before flashing/restoring anything anything.

Ok, I was'nt sure. I just went back to stock. I just wanted to know what exactly was going on and why.
The only thing different on my phone is I got a 32 gig SD card. I transfed some of my files a couple days before doing anything of this. That's the only thing I can think of. Even after root/unroot it STILL won't do my nandroid restore. I had so much time and work into the apps I set up, games, ect. Really freakin sucks. I even went into the the TWRP backup folder and made sure the backup files were there before doing anything. I never even got to flash many ROMs, I kinda just stayed on Jellybomb.
I had the uTorrent app installed and I noticed that it changed a lot of files with the "u" in front that the uTorrent app has. Anyone know why that is?

Every rom comes with a kernel built in.
You need a custom recovery for your phone (Clockwork Mod or TWRP)
In recovery factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, format system, flash rom, flash gapps (Google apps needed) wipe cache and dalvik again and reboot.
If any of this seems overwhelming read read read. Watch a YouTube video on installing a recovery for your phone. Or a video on flashing a rom.
Phones are bricked by not understating what they are doing and downloading the wrong files.

When you wipe, you're essentially creating a clean slate for your new operating system to run on. Making a backup will allow you to restore your device in the event you run into any issues in the future. The backup will restore whatever rom you were running when you created the backup. For example, the backup you already made, when restored, will place touchwiz (stock) back on your phone. Once you flash a rom, if you were to make a backup again, it would backup your system with that particular rom. Then you would have 2 backups: 1 that has stock and 1 that has aokp or whatever it was you were running at the time of backup.
You can also copy and paste these backups onto your computer to have in case anything ever happens to your phone.
I would read up on all these processes and procedures a little more before you begin.

I have used nand erase all in odin and even used pit but old partitions always stay there, for eg- modem, kernel always stays there no matter even if I wipe them from Philz recovery.
So I request you to point me towards the right method or tool to completely wipe my Note 2 and reinstall stock firmware or custom (doesn't matter).
P.S. I am ready to do anything (not hardware) to my Note 2 to wipe it completely.

Answer:
root phone....
Install custom recovery...(PhilZ) or if U R allready on TWRP itll do fine...
Do full wipe( factory and data reset-wipe all to install new rom-yes)
Clean cache
Clean dalvick cache in advanced
Restart recovery....
Phone is clean
Or...
Download ODIN and STOCK Firmware... and ...
U r done! Hope helped...
And there is Rom nuke app. Zip... Find it, i do not have link for now. But, that what has been written will help U.
And... if U have anything important to save-save it before all!!! Titanium or any ellse backup app will do, or/and back it up from recovery also! Twice is always better! And, if U do not wanna install new rom and that new rom isnt on Ext Sd- reamove it, just in case before deleting all(wiping) but after backup(i just asume that ull store backup on Ext Sd card)

There is solution for that. Do remap partition with Odin. U can find stock partition formats on XDA somewere or just Google it, i will do latter when i have some time free. But do not give hope, there is always a solution, just take a brake and relax ... and See U latter or tonight in "helping adventure"
p.s TRY TO NOT Nand erase all.... Just re-map partition with downloaded one and instal stock firmware.... 4 begining.
Did remapping the partition with the pit file.
Did remapping with pit n nand erase all no go...
Have you actually tried recovery firmware through kies?
I believe you should give it a chance if you haven't already, I know that it's not supposed to downgrade but it's called "recovery software" ... ???
