Only 89 euros

Would be sweet!.....if they cut that price in half.

nothing on samsung usa

I'm sure it'll hit Samsung USA within a month.
Hopefully this is a sign that the freakin multimedia car dock will be released soon as well.

if this is anything like the desktop dock they have now in terms of design be prepared for broken usb port. happened to mine. the usb is the only thing holding it from moving front back/side to side. its not made specifically for any model just the galaxy family in general. such garbage coming from samsung.

You have a point.
There is a workaround.
For example, with my S3 I have a slim case.
I bought an Ibolt car dock and a KiDiGi desktop....both with provisions to accommodate with/without a slim case specifically made for an S3.
YET...still, the fit was loose on the desktop and though tight on the Car dock, the grooves were too deep allowing too much screen to be obscured.
THE WORKAROUND...I sliced up some black super high density foam and created a BED inside the grooves of the docking stations so that it would be a much tighter and safer fit. Works perfect and hardly visible. (black on black) I simply glued the foam to the docks.
In my head, my imagination and I have designed docking stations with an adjustable base/sides that you SCREW SET into place according to the case that you are using for your S3. Is this such a hard thing to implement? Doubt it. Some of the Proclip car docks have a hint of this type of adjustability.

The price of this is way out of what it should be it's nothing new or special it's just eh dock with extended features I know its Samsung so you pay a premium price and it would match your device color but you would really have to want it to be a Samsung one at that price.
I mean conversion wise Euros are pretty much a straight conversion to GBP so let square it £90 for a dock that has OTG support and MHL that's just crazy.
Here is a link for all those interested: http://www.samsung.com/de/consumer/...nes/EDD-S20EWEGSTD?subsubtype=docking-station

Careful, your post makes it seem like the US item is equivalent to the German item you also show. But the US dock is the regular one without HDMI and USB Host access.
Generally - it seems that most companies match the foreign purchase price in euros - to dollars when it eventually arrives in the US. In other words, when it gets released on the US website - I'd expect it to be around $80. I could be wrong, but I'm waiting to see if it arrives soon.

sir, you are confused.
the "american link" is NOT the same device at all. it does not have OTG, nor does it have HDMI
your american link: charges, syncs, 3.5mm audio
the german link: charges, may sync, 3.5mm audio, HDMI out, USB host (for keyboards mouse, etc.)
HUGE difference.

Yeah...I just saw this dock the other day. It just hit the internet. Thanks for also showing the American link version. Black too. $50usd is not that bad really. Considering the wiring and outputs, it's priced ok in N.A. It is a generic solution...but I would simply compliment it with my foam trick from my previous post. You know, with the foam, you end up with a darn tight fit and a soft landing pad as a bonus.
UPDATE: oh...scarrmrcc and P0ll0L0c0 point out that it's not the same unit. Too bad. Don't feel bad. We all make mistakes.
You should edit your post accordingly.

it is spreading.. as a preorder:

http://www.uk-mobilestore.co.uk/pro...y-S3-Multimedia-Dockingstation-%2d-White.html
so, it is moving slowly in the direction of the US

in Germany, it costs €80....
http://www.samsung.com/de/consumer/...nes/EDD-S20EWEGSTD?subsubtype=docking-station
I want to have this but ain't willing to pay such price...€30 to €40 cheaper should be ok...but the proud €80 is outrageous!!
I hope I can find similar cheaper products (copies) in amazon or ebay very soon.

Post edited sorry guys for the confusion I don;t know why that's called a multimedia dock as well?

I am holding on to my 50% off coupon code for this dock. I feel it combines allshare (when on ROMs with wired) and OTG capabilities. If I buy allshare, I might not be able to use AOSP roms.

samsung uses the term multimedia pretty darn loosely...
the US link gives 2 media: usb storage (as in it allows you to access the phone's memory) and audio. so tecnically, it is multimedia.. but I feel that is cheating.
the german one at the beginning of the thread, has one major difference in nomenclature: it is a docking station (unlike the the other, which is just a dock). as a docking station is it gives USB (storage. and access), HTMI out, OTG, audio.. the whole thing. (and uses the "smart mote" triggered by a 40.2kOHM resistor).
they deliberately make people think the items are more than they are...

Finally! Has anyone found a blue version available for pre-order?

HELP!!! Can the multimedia dock be compatible with other android+mhl+otg phones?
Hi, Can someone please tell me if the multimedia dock can be used with other android phones with MHL and OTG capability? For example the Zte V985 has a micro usb port and supports full MHL + OTG and is also android 4.0.4 so theoretically it should also work with the samsung multimedia dock?

Too bad they don't have the keyboard case either. Makes me wish THAT was a motorola product.
I was also confused about the shipping since when you add the item to the cart it says you can get free two day shipping and to select that option at checkout, but it still charges you for it.
cool, still worked, but not many accessories. Such as car charger, other gel case colors, etc. But otherwise I will try at a STD dock to hack and a keyboard for that price.

$15.99 adapter
$4.48 shipping
---------
$20.47 total
... almost the same price. Too bad the coupon code wouldn't work on that one.
I looked around to find out more about the "Camera Kit Adapter". From what I can tell, this is an OTG cable and as long as you have Honeycomb 3.1, you can use it to connect a mouse, keyboard or game controller to your Xoom. However, you will not be able to connect a USB flash drive because the USB Host interface does not have the software support for USB-keys. A rooted Xoom with a custom kernel (I assume... but maybe custom ROM too?) may be able to support flash drives. Motorola may also add it in at a later date too.
Can anyone confirm or deny any of this?
I ordered an OTG cable from eBay, but of course it will be a few weeks before I see it, so I was thinking about ordering this too.

I currently use a flash drive on my Xoom. I'm using a custom Tiamet kernel and I'm rooted. It works awesome. I carry my Music and N64 ROM's.
Anyone know how the additional $50 off promotion works? I can only get it to work with the keyboard, but I already have one (which I dont need anymore anyway since I got the verizon folio keyboard case). I tried a set of bluetooth headphones, thinking it might be a "bluetooth" deal, but it didn't work.

[Q] Where to buy official Samsung accessories in Canada?

I'm looking to buy the car dock, MHL Adapter and USB adapter for the SGS2. I was hoping that we'd have something in Canada by now, but it doesn't look like it. Anyone have any ideas where I can get these accessories, and when they'll be available (especially at Best Buy, as I have gift cards)?
BTW, I tried to order these accessories from Bell in early August. Their website doesn't show availability and I got an email a couple of days later saying that they had none in stock and weren't expecting them until end of August. I cancelled the order (as they charged my credit card right away and I don't trust them). I followed up this week to see if they had any in stock and they told me that they can't tell me. I have to place the order to find out. Ahhh, you gotta love Bell.
There is none available in Canada, I order my accessories on eBay, a Korean seller.
For cases there is a seller in Toronto selling authentic SGP cases, love my SGP Neo Hybrid!
Thanks for the reply. I checked ebay, but the price of the car dock was too high.
I ended up ordering the car dock and MHL adapter from ExportPrive (they didn't have the USB adapter). This was still a bit expensive, but the only place that I found cheaper was expansys.ca. After the reviews I read about expansys, there's no way I was going to order from them.
I have ordered a car, desktop dock and battery pack case as well as other cases all with expansys and have never had a problem.
It's good to know that not everyone has had a bad experience with Expansys. Probably more times than not there are no problems with Expansys, as people are generally more vocal about negative experiences than positive ones. However, I've read enough bad stories (even on their own forums) to not risk it.
It figures. After ordering the MHL adapter from Export Prive, I found a similar one for less from MonoPrice. I know it's not an official Samsung adapter, but I'm sure the quality is excellent, as everything else I've purchased from them is.
Here are the details:
Product Name: Micro USB to HDMI MHL Adapter - Black
Product ID: 8675
Price: $15.92
The current list of MHL compatible devices includes:
Samsung Galaxy S II
Samsung Infuse 4G
HTC Evo 3D
HTC Flyer Tablet
HTC Sensation
Oakville place had all accessories at the bell store

No problem. I'm pretty sure the quality will be pretty good, but I'm interested in reading your review.
BTW, I've since found that the Bell store in Ajax had the MHL adapter in stock. They haven't received any stock of the car adapter or OTG USB adapter yet, though.
Anyway, $16 from MonoPrice for their brand (+ shipping) vs $50 from Bell for the Samsung one...it's an easy choice. I just wish I would have found it a day earlier!
I received my order from Export Prive today (the 14th). I ordered it the night of the 8th, so it came pretty quick. It was pretty much right on their estimate.
If anyone's interested, here's a breakdown of the costs from Export Prive compared to Bell:
Export Prive:
1 SSGMHLADGS2 Samsung MHL Adaptor to HDMI Output for Galaxy S II i9100 $33.12
1 SSGVHCLDGS2 Samsung Vehicle Dock for Galaxy S II i9100 $51.02
Sub-Total: $84.13
Shipping via Express Mail Service (EMS): $17.90 (you can save about $5 if you choose a slower shipping method)
Total: $102.03 USD (came to $103.04 on credit card bill due to currency exchange fees)
Bell:
HDTV adapter: $49.95
Samsung vehicle dock (window mount): $49.95
Sub-Total: $99.90
HST: $12.99
Total: $112.89
As you can see, ordering these two accessories from Bell would have cost me more than it did with Export Prive.
I tried out the vehicle dock kit and I like it. It's light weight, yet solid. It comes in two main pieces. There's the arm that has a suction cup for the window / dash, and there's a holder for the phone that can snap to the arm.
To insert the phone, you just pull down the lock (at the bottom), snap the phone in and push the lock back up (which connects the micro USB). This could probably be done with one hand. There's no way the phone will fall out.
To take the phone out, pull down the lock at the bottom, press on the tab at the top and pull the phone out from the top. Most likely this will require two hands, but we'll see after I get used to it. I kept pressing the power / lock button on the phone when trying to take it out, but hopefully that won't be an issue as I adjust the technique I use to take it out.
Once the phone is in the dock, it can be rotated and the angle can be changed. This means that you can have it vertical or horizontal (on on any orientation you want). The angle can be changed so that it's directed more to one side. It's on a ball joint, so it's completely up to you how you want to set it up. There's also a knob on the back that will allow you to adjust the tension.
The phone holder can be removed while the phone's still attached, so if you need to quickly detach it and put it back, it's pretty easy.
When you insert the phone, a few things happen (regardless if you have the lighter apapter plugged in or not):
Care mode is activated. A little steering wheel icon is shown in the status bar at the top to indicate this mode is active. It can be disabled from the notifications window.
The "Voice talk" application is started.
The speakerphone is activated.
Unfortunately, the speaker is on the back of the phone. There is an opening on the holder to allow the sound through, but there's nothing to redirect the sound to the front (maybe the windshield will help, we'll see). I can't see this being loud enough in my car. I'll have to try it out for a couple of days.
There are two ports on the back of the phone holder: one for the speaker line out and one for the micro USB adapter. It comes with a lighter adapter that has a micro USB connector. They've also included a little magnetic clamp that can be used to bunch up any excess cable.
Overall, I'd say it's a well built and thought out vehicle dock kit. It's solid, looks nice, holds the phone really well and automatically puts the phone in car mode. It has a couple of minor issues, such as needing to pull the phone out from where the lock / power button is, and the speaker on the back (which is more of a phone issue than dock issue). I'd say it's also overpriced, but I think it's worth it. I'm happy with it.
I haven't played with the MHL adapter yet. I can't believe Bell is charging $50 for it, though. Even worse is the standard battery from Bell...it costs $89.95!!! I know all of the other accessories are over priced, but that's ridiculous!
I ordered my Otterbox Commuter case directly from the Bell website, at which point it said "expect your shipment in 3 weeks when we're restocked". It came a few weeks ago. It's $34 CDN on the Bell website, which is cheaper than most places I think. I noticed they now have the car dock as well. The battery price seems downright ludicrous however; perhaps it's also a mini desalinization plant?
Any/all Bell stores I went to had SFA for the SGSII in stock.

Correct, I have a MM dock and when it's not plugged into my pico projector, it displays an option to run the "Widget clock". The included (cheaply made IMHO) IR remote can start/ stop media as well as a few other things. BTW, if you didn't know, HDMI is backwards compatible with DVI, so a passive, inline adapter can connect the MM dock to any modern display. There is an 3.5mm audio output from the MM dock as well.
Thank you! Just one more thing question.

Typically, the DVI display connections i use are vertical, so I don't have stress on mine. However, I see your point. Note that you'll need an adapter on the other side of your wire to connect to the phone, though.

Thank you - thank you - thank you!! I have just ordered one myself I don't know how I'm going to manage to wait the 3-5 days for delivery, even though I went without a dock for MONTHS already. Thanks again.
Be wary if you think you're going to get in on this deal - I received a Standard Dock instead of the Multimedia Dock. Needless to say it's being sent back as item not as described. Gonna hit up a store to grab this, since their warehouse had no idea what they were doing.
I had the same thing happen. Turns out they call the Standard Dock the Multimedia Dock, and the Multimedia Dock is known as the HD Multimedia Dock. If you noticed, this thread says the HD MM dock was $15, but the one you bought was only $10.
I buy three of each and I get my three standard docks. I call bell and they say they want to ship my hd docks this week.

Official Samsung Desktop Dock Supports Verizon Model

http://androidcommunity.com/verizon-galaxy-nexus-desktop-dock-available-from-samsung-20120221/
Looks like we're finally getting some official accessories from Samsung themselves. And as the article states, it clearly lists compatibility with the Verizon model. Is it too much to hope that the elusive car dock with pogo won't be far behind?
I'm an accessory junkie, but that price is not even close! I don't need to use the 3pin connection that bad.. Damnn..
For a desktop dock that doesn't do a data connection, $40 is my upper limit and even then, it would have to be awesome. My $15 upright dock I found here and picked up from Amazon is still working just fine.

Those have been the rumored prices all along. You're paying for convenience.
I'll be buying both the desk dock and car dock thats for damn sure.
This is the one thing I am quite disppointed in Samsung. The Accessories should have been available when the phone launched. One of the reasons I purchased the phone was for the quick pogo connection, I hate having to plug and unplug usb.
It's a little pricey but I really like the idea of not having to physically connect the usb. I just bought this..
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NJ6EPI/ref=oh_o00_s00_i02_details
Very happy with it so far, but it does require 2 hands and a bunch of monkeying around. I would like this dock but $89.99 on top of the $20.99 I already spent on the other one makes the whole thing a little expensive.
This dock has a "line out" port on the back, so like the Pogo car dock, I'm guessing it'll be a Bluetooth dock (maybe with autoconfigure with the middle pin of the pogo?)
Must not order..... ordering ..no. yes .... arghhhh
This has got to be a joke - 90USD for a freaking charging dock? Anyone buying this is, with all due respect, a moron. Value your money people.
Pretty crappy if this is truly going to be the price.

Extended battery?
While it does seem expensive, there's not much detail listed. Anyone find any info on the compatibility with the extended battery & cover for the Verizon GN?
*sigh* I miss the time when Google partnered with HTC, made the excellent Nexus One, and launched it along with a pogo-charging, bluetooth-media-connecting desktop dock, which cost $45.
Can't believe this is $90, looks like I am going to buy some legos and build my own
Yea $90 bucks is insane...
Hopefully some aftermarket manufacturers will make a similar dock for a good price...
I wonder if that is just the "Samsung" price. And the actual retail price will be lower?
I pre-ordered the dock for my GSM Galaxy Nexus and it is "only" $60. Which I thought was a bit expensive even at that price.
Hopefully the street price of the CDMA dock is also lower than the suggested Samsung price.
I ordered one yesterday and it will arrive on Monday, probably the most expensive accessory I ever bought. Coming from the Thunderbolt, whose official dock was 50+, it is a lot. However, the constant plugging and unplugging of the Micro USB cable takes a toll or your micro USB port.
I like to keep the phone in good condition, since I usually sale my phones after a year or so to trade up for something new, so I might be able to get $50 for it when I sell it. All in all I need a dock, and I'm tired of waiting for these other stores to start selling. I will probably have to stay off the Starbucks for a couple of weeks to recover that extra cost.

sad, but seems to be true:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EDD-D1F8BEBSTD-gallery
I'm under the impression that this dock is for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus and not the GSM version.
I think I will stick to the vertical one from ebay, at least I can also use my MHL cable out the back of it for when I install Ubuntu
Here £6.99
I could justify a car dock for that price since my car is my office, but there's a difference between justifying it and being willing to pay it. For people that would actually use it every single day for a good amount of time, I can see why someone would pay that much over someone that just wants a dock to charge it on while they're sleeping. It's still pricy though.
At night, I use the plastic dock/holder thing that comes with the Verizon spare battery charging kit. Pop the phone on there, plug a charging cable in, and put it in Clock Mode. It works just fine for me.
$90 is really steep. I know Samsung said that they were waiting on response to decide what accessories to make, but they should have inquired about price point as well. If it's any consolation, prices will come down with time. I guess I understand the business aspect of it, I know that at least the LTE version will probably never be a big seller, but it sucks non-the-less.

Good prices on HD Dock / Entertainment Center

For anyone interested the HD Multimedia Dock is $28 bucks on Amazon right now. If you wanted the whole Entertainment Center it's on sale for $82 (which just got raised from $77 today).

Well the one I had bought was just the standard dock, but the multimedia ones are selling for £15-£20
Can it be used with some other Motorola phones? Like Droid Razr Maxx?
No, as far as I know, because the dock hold the phone into place using the HDMI and charger ports.
Save your money!!!

For anyone interested the HD Multimedia Dock is $28 bucks on Amazon right now. If you wanted the whole Entertainment Center it's on sale for $82 (which just got raised from $77 today).

I just bought a cable from amazon, and is working the same as the Dock (no charging) i have my atrix set up on my TV with a Bluetooth mouse keyboard combo.

It was only US $3.15 - I'm very pleased with the results, and the mouse keyboard combo was US $24.00 with the shipping.

I have for the price of the entertainment dock, the dock replacement (almost) plus a lapdock on my TV. Is not the original stuff, but it does the work.
Peace out!!!

If I was interested in saving my money I would have continued using the hdmi cable that comes with the phone and the wireless keyboard I already own. ($0, beat that! ).
The intent of the post wasn't to see who could come up with the cheapest alternative to a HD dock. It was to let anyone who may be interested in the OEM product know it was on sale for a reasonable price.
That being said, I did end up buying the dock and am very pleased with it. Having it hooked up to my stereo system, coupled with the remote and usb storage, makes it a very nice little setup. I'd always kind of written off the accessories for the phone, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well everything worked.
