Android Core Process has stopped working. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Ok, I've flashed a few roms in my time but recently, ive been trying to go from AOKP to Paranoid Android on my Galaxy Nexus.
No complex procedures, nothing different from usual...
The roms install and run fine.
But when i restore my backup from titanium ( i only back up apps & contacts ) i get the constant message in the title and force closures.
I've did a fresh wipe and also tried fixing permissions.
Thanks

Contact is the problem. Just sync all the contacts with the Google account and don't restore the contacts and you'll be good to go.

AOKP b38 or b39

Which one is more stable? Right now i am using b39 and i am having some issues with it. For example Foursquare and root explorer are not working.
Also after flashing a custom rom with gapps. My apps automaticly starts downloading. Is there a possibility to prevent that? I want to choose which one to install after a flash a custom rom. Thanks.
Any idea my friends?
To avoid auto app downloading, don't enter your google account details when the phone does the initial setup on first boot.
Add it from settings-accounts and sync instead.

I'm running 38 issue-free. Every time I see talk of 39 I hear about odd lag issues. I did run into some sluggishness last night but that was due to the extremely low CPU settings I had.

I am now on b39 with lean kernel and zero problems so far
To your apps question, titanium backup your apps before you install a new rom, install the new rom +gapps and on the first boot where you log into wifi and your account uncheck the box which states "Restore this phone from my account" above the "backup this phone with my account", then you should titanium restore your apps or choose the apps you want from you play store account.
Thank you very much for your answers my friends. mtbgus can you check foursquare app for me? I really wonder if it works with lean kernel.
Also where can i find Lean Kernel?
Regarding the auto-download of apps. A little pro-tip: NEVER enter your email at the first setup.
Just skip it and add your Google account afterwards. To get back missing apps, just use TiBackup
Yes mate, foursquare appear to be working, although I only installed it and signed in to check, then uninstalled because I don't have a use for it.
Not had any apps I've used force closing or refusing to work on any aokp roms I've used.
so you managed to check-in?
I only installed and signed in with facebook and then uninstalled, I have not need for the app so didn't go into it further than that.
If you have problems I'd flash Lean Kernel and maybe try Jame Bond 3.1i just to check, only takes a few minutes for peace of mind.

What I do is back up my apps with ti back up then I run batch option to uninstall all user apps except for ti back up flash rom so when I sign in only ti back up is automatically installed by doing this my wallpaper wifi password and other Google settings are also restored

Everything works here, including Root Browser. AOKP B39 + Franco M4
Root Explorer actually works fine but Foursquare isn't functioning correctly for me. The app loads but nothing loads in the Friends feed (or whatever it's called). My location can be discerned but nothing ever shows up on the list of places to check in to. I've tried clearing data and logging into the app again and went as far back as reinstalling. Not sure what the deal is but luckily I don't take Foursquare too seriously so it's a little annoying more than anything else.
edit: forgot to mention I'm on AOKP B39 + Franco (Linaro) 194.
Foursquare works again on B40.

Build 40 is out. I suggest you clean install and try foursquare again.

[Q] com.google.process.gapps has stopped

Yes, I know there are other threads out there from people having this same message. But I read through several of them, and they have having different issues.
The facts:
Samsung Galaxy Nexus, running ParanoidAndroid 2.99 beta6 (JB 4.2.1)
I had forgotten to re-flash the gapps after updating to the beta6, so I just tried flashing the newest gapps using GooManager (comes with PA I believe...)
Anyway, that was a bad idea apparently. Using GooManager. Now, whenever I boot up, I get that error in the title, and when I hit OK, I get the constant message "Setup Wizard has stopped working." I can't access my home screen, it's just black, and I've tried doing a factory reset, then reinstalling the ROM and gapps using TeamWin Recovery (what I normally use).
I am currently in the process of wiping my phone COMPLETELY, and then installing the system and such, hopefully fixing it. Just makes me sad that I didn't have a very recent backup =(
Assuming that doesn't work, does anyone have tips for me? Or an idea of what I SHOULD have done FIRST, after the problem occurred?

Sound like drama I would go with your initial plan and start over again with a clean wipe. But before doing that have you tried fixing permissions to see if that helps?
could you tell us which gapps you are flashing? also do you use Titanium Backup to restore all your apps?
I wasn't really able to use my phone, when it was "broken". Couldn't access anything on the home screen (as there seemed to be no home screen at all) and the "Setup Wizard" pop-up just kept coming. So, I did not try fixing permissions.
Ummm... I was/am using the most recent gapps from goo.im I believe. I was linked to the gapps download from the PA thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619582). 4.2-2012 11 27
Anyway, it all works now. It took a few tries. I used the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to flash stock ROMs (tried stock 4.2, but it got stuck on the Google boot screen [not animation] every time, so I settled on 4.0.4) and later flash TWRP so I could flash PA 2.99beta6 again. I did it properly this time, and all works well.
Sorry to bother the forums with this thread.
Oh! And I have NOT been using Titanium Backup. I tried using it, before I upgraded to PA 2.99 (required a format to go from the previous version), but it wouldn't back up anything properly. I eventually settled on using the GNex Toolkit (which also failed for me, but it was a fault on my part).
So to get my apps back, I've been doing it manually by going to the play store and going one-by-one to get the apps that were synced to my account. Really sucks losing all of my data =/
go to /system/app folder using root browser, and look for apks with incorrect permissions. All apk inside that folder should have 644 permission (owner read write, group read, and other read)
Or you could alternatively fix permissions from recovery or using other apps
i had this on stock 4.0.4 when i first got my phone.. flashed 4.1 and it fixed the issue
OP - I use mybackup pro from the app store to backup all my data/apps and videos etc. Simply backup then go into your phones system folder go into rerware folder and find your backup folder and drag it to your pc. Simply update your phone then just drop mybackup pros apk file to your phone again ..install..then drag your backup folder back into its rerware folder...if it doesnt have a rerware folder..do a little backup of your phone in stock and then you should see that rerware folder...anyway thats just the way i do it..works blissfully for me everytime!

Galaxy Nexus Can Not Message after Installing ROM - Codename Android 3.8.0

I was using the Codename Android 3.4.1 ROM on my VZW Galaxy Nexus and wanted to update the ROM (now on version 3.8.0). I downloaded the zip files needed, did a Nandroid back up, wiped data, cache, and Delvik cache. Installed the new ROM, and everything was fine. I have Titanium Backup pro. I was restoring everything and there seemed to be no problems. After my text messages restored, I had an issue with any messaging apps. I use Handcent. I could sometimes view conversations, but the app would have problems if I tried to send anything. I was trying to reply to someone who had texted me while my phone was restoring. I waited until the restore was complete before getting back to them. Handcent freezes when I select a conversation or just start it up. When I try the stock messaging app, it say "Loading Conversations" but never moves past that. I tried restoring my Nandroid backup to before I flashed the new ROM, but I isn't restoring to the exact state from the time of the back up. It appears as though the damage is done. Any idea what could be happening here or how I could fix it?
Thanks
dont restore any data from a system app.

Having some bazaar issues

I'll cut to the chase with my issues and explain where I am now. Then I'll go through some if the previous issues leading up to this...
I got tired of the problems and flashed back to stock FC09 with Odin.
Booted up and made sure it worked...
Flashed CWM 5.0.2.7 with Odin.
Rebooted
Flashed CWM 6.0.2.8 with CWM...
Booted up to make sure nothing broke.
Data, dalvik, and cache wipe
Flashed a CM 10.1 nightly from a couple weeks ago.
Flashed goo.im's latest jelly bean pack (2013-03-01 iirc)
Booted up and went through the normal setup.
Only google apps that showed up are search, play, talk, and voice search. No Gmail or Maps or others. Gallery I'd there but force closes right away. So it and the camera do not work.
I haven't tried recreating the rest of the problems yet since I ran into a problem there.
The rest of the problem started after finally deciding to try the nexus radio hack. I got it working then had a hell of a time getting it working again after flashing a newer nightly. What should have worked didn't. Got it working then decided to revert back to the factory modem and CM 10.1 kernel. Wasn't worth the hastle for me.
After all that I got it working again. Then after the next nightly I lost all my apps, Google apps, and contacts.
Since then I was able to manually flash the Google apps and get it working but even then, it would not sync automatically though I set it to do so. It would forget my contacts and would not sync with gmail unless I did so manually.
Looked at to goo.im zip... realized gmail and maps were not in there.
While I was confused... that does not change the fact the phone seems broken in bazaar ways.
Losing my contacts randomly, refusing to automatically sync to Google, losing my apps after flashing an updated rom (also changes my background to an old one) and other weirdness.
Restored my latest nandroid backup after realizing the camera was broken last night. Everything worked perfect before making that backup. Now the camera and gallery force close...

Go to Settings->Apps->All : Find and click on Gallery then hit the button that says "Clear Data". That should fix the force close problem.

Nope...
Tried that and also cleared the cache and dalvik in CWM.
Neither helped.
Thank you though...
Well, if anyone else runs into similar and finds this via a search here is where I ended up...
I re flashed to stock again with Odin. Only I set it to re partition this time. Then flashed can via Odin.
Finally, I flashed CM 10.1 and gapps.
Everything worked...
Restored the data out of my latest nandroid backup.
Everything was good.
Ran cyandelta to update to the latest nightly and all hell broke loose again.
Think it is because we are butting so close against a full system partition. I had less than 100k free.
I ran my "remove useless junk" script via a CWM flash. I now have almost 100mb free and everything is working as it should. I'm betting I won't have any more issues if I set cyandelta to flash it after updating from now on.
The flash removes a bunch of stuff from CM that I don't need and/or never use like wallpapers, sound files, videos, a few apps and other random things. Need to update it for 10.1 since I made it for 10.0 though...
And today it forgot my Google account...
Noticed my contacts were missing and then saw gmail wouldn't open.
Settings> accounts did not have Google listed.
+ Add account did not have Google listed to add it back.
Had to flash gapps again and set my account back up...
This is one of the original problems...

[Q] Phone/Contacts.apk w/ direct call (raise to call) feature. HELP!

Ok, Im running shiny 4.2.2 (stock based rom), I just recently flash this one and I remember the Rom I was running before had a direct dial feature in the phone settings along with all the other advanced settings. Now this is what I've been doing for the past 2 days, downloading every Rom I could think of that I ran on a desktop, extracting the system/apps and installing Contacts.apk, ContactsProviders.apk and Phone.apk of course being on a stock based rom some worked some didn't. I know that RootBox has a mms.apk that has a direct dial feature built into the settings, so I'm thinking maybe it was rootbox that had that same thing in the phone settings, but when I try and install those 3 apk's that I need I get force closes everywhere ( android.process.acore) most of all and I have to resore a nandroid. Does anyone have any instight on what I could do or if it's even possible to get it to work with shiny rom?
The original contacts app
I had kind of the same problem. That error is shown when you don't have any app which can handle contacts and hence it takes down the whole package down including messaging, calling, etc. I tried the same extracting and attempting to install. It doesn't happen. The only thing that worked for me was titanium backup. I had the contacts backup there. I restored it with it data and things are A-okay.
