[Q] Settings APK Not Installed - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Kindle Fire, no root, with Go Launcher EX installed. I have most of the Google apps, such as the framework and gmail, but the Play Store force closes instantly when I open it, and 20110208124835-com.android.settings.apk will not install at all... It says that it's replacing a system app, asks if I want to continue, then says "application not installed."
I want the Swype app, but I have to go into settings and select it as an input method. But the Amazon settings app only allows Kindle Keyboard, I need access to the settings of a normal Android phone/tablet.
I'm using the APK Downloader Chrome Extension to get all of my apps, but the problem is that it goes through my cell phone's ID, so I can only download apks that are compatible with both my phone and tablet.. It'd be nice to have the Google Play Store.
Is there a way to get these two installed without rooting? I've looked around, but no forums explain my situation as far as I could tell.

No root no go.

Gmail icon after root, and gapps install

I just completed manually rooting my KF after having errors using the latest KFU.
I was able to droid market up and running, so my googleservicesframework apk must be good to go, but I dont have a gmail icon.
I can go into the droid market and "update" gmail, and then open it, works great... but when I hit the home button, there's no gmail icon from the apps list or on the carousel.
Curious thing is that if I install any other Google app, they install correctly, and an icon is placed in the apps list.
I have tried uninstalling gmail and using different googleserviceframework apk's. I have installed the gapps with the latest KFU and manually, neither one gives me the gmail icon to launch it.
So far the only way I can use the gmail app is to go through the droid market, search for it, then click open.
Have you gone into Settings -> Applications -> All Applications -> AppManager and click Clear Data? Also do the same for Launcher.
Nope, but I just gave it a shot and still no icon. I have ICS loaded, the icon shows up in ICS, though, before clearing the data.

Rooted successfully, have play store app but won't open...help

I properly rooted my Kindle fire HD. I then tried to install the play store app. I went to about 5 or 6 different website with similar but different instructions how to get the play store app working. For the life of me I can't get it to work. I have all the files installed and it shows the play store app on the device but when I click on it nothing happens. It will let me install the program but when I click open it does nothing. I've restarted it, tried different tips from different websites and am completely at a loss for what my next trouble shooting tip needs to be.
Also, I saw where you can remove the ads by changing the extension name of a file to .bat or go in and uncheck some boxes, both in the super user ES3 folders and neither one will accept the changes.
Please help my sanity.

Click to collapse
Uninstall the Play Store in whatever way you can (such as using ES File Explorer), then use the KF Fist Aide tool to install the Play Store again. It also has an option to remove the Amazon ads too.

Help Needed, Play Store Stops Working Everytime

As'slamu Allekum (Peace To You All)
I've got an Amazon Fire Phone 32GB and by seeing some tutorials i was enable to install play store in it, but after a day or two it stopped working, then i formated it and installed everything again, it worked fine for two days and after it again same happened, when i open play store it shows only white screen and nothing happens, no message, no errors, no caution, only a white screen, please help me out
Thanks In advance
Install Play Store as a system app, then use any file explorer with root access and go to: "/data/app" and create a new folder named "com.android.vending-1.apk. This will act as a placeholder to avoid auto updates until your problem is fixed.
Please provide more information about the GApps you have currently installed: write down the exact version number of the Play services, Play Store, Google account manager, etc. so it will be easier to locate the problem.
Please list also if you use any extended privacy tools or Xposed modules...

[Fixed] Unknown Issue with Google Play Services / Can't load Google Map

It took my a long time to find a solution, none of the solution I have tried many solution on the internet but none of that is working. So I decided to write one to save someone time for someday
Symptom:
1. Displaying "Unknown Issue with Google Play Services" on the notification area for a app. Any apps relied on Google Services like Google Map, Play Store, or even some game like Pokemon Go is not working.
2. When go to settings of selecting Google Account, it force closed. So you can't remove or add Google account / change the sync settings anymore.
Root Cause:
Still unknown, may be due to some bug in Mi 5s offical firmware issue. Even I have clean install of offical global rom but still having this issue after 2 -3 days of use. I dont have such issue when using another phone before but just having this issue when using Mi 5s. (I am purchased two Mi 5s and both are having the same issue)
Solution:
0. Root privilege is required, there are many thread already teaching you how to root Mi 5s so I won't go through the details of rooting Mi 5s here
1. Download Google Play services 9.8.77 (448-135396225) apk and put in the internal storage
(Due to some restriction in xda, I can't post the apk links or upload to this thread, please search in link on the internet, the MD5 for this apk is 1B552C81376A29E8F1F4B2ED9F990B11)
2. Delete Google Play Service
Since Google Play Service is come with the ROM and it is "system app", root privilege it required to remove a system app, to remove a system app, you can search "system app remover" on play store, there are many application which help you to remove system app with one click. For me, I am using a paidware called Titanium Backup so I dont have any recommendation with the above free system remover, but I think most of them should work.
After you have deleted Google Play Service, a pop up about "com.google.gms has stopped" will keep popping continuously even you click "cancel" everytime, but don't panic! Now just hold your power button and Reboot the device
3. Install Google Play Service
After rebooting the device, the "com.google.gms has stopped" pop up will still keep popping continuously. When you click "cancel", there is a 1 second small time gap before the next pop up come in, so make use of the time gap to locate the Google Play Service you have downloaded on the internal storage and install it.
4. Add Google account
After the installation, the pop up will be gone. However, all of the Google account which has configuration on this device are also gone, so you need to add it back as usual.
That's it. Try to open Google Map now

Firephone stock rom's strange behaviour

Hi,
I was using CM on the firephone for a while. I decided to go back to stock rom.
The stock rom do not have the firefly feature and whenever I try to open amazon app store it tells me "country settings not supported". It doesn't allow me to proceed further without changing the country settings. When I tap on the settings button it takes me to the amazon japan site where my current account for amazon.com doesn't work. I made a new account on the same email address and tried to change the country settings. But I am not able to do that as the settings only give me the option to enter an address in japan. I know how to change the country in a normal amazon account. I have tried everything. Also tried reinstalling rom from amazon official site. Nothing works. Can anybody help?
Not sure why firefly has disappeared completely from phone.
I don't know how to fix the Firefly thing, but I don't use Firefly anyway.
I have the same problem with the Amazon App Store, but you don't need the Amazon App Store. Just sideload the Google Play Store onto your device, and the Amazon App Store is garbage anyway.
You can sideload Google Play Store by following this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/general/fire-phone-how-to-install-google-play-t2977237
NOTE: Since you can't use the Amazon App Store you need to download the APK file of ES File Explorer. Click on this link, then scroll down to the versions and download the latest version. Make sure "Apps from unknown sources" is enabled in settings, you can do this by going into the settings app > Applications & Parental Controls > Prevent non-Amazon app installation, and now enable "App Installation". Now install ES File Explorer.
