DHD notification LED - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I know this topic has already been discussed... but I would like to understand once and for all ...
The notification led of our desire hd is RGB? and because the colors are just as green, red and orange?
from what I see is something that can not be resolved even using a "root" programs ...
could you explain why?

It can only use the orange, red and green HTC has limited it to. Although it'd be nice to have this phone with a Blackberry-esque multicoloured flashing LED. Add a dual core processor and a front facing camera and you have the ideal phone!

I agree with you! htc has limited the led... so you mean that in fact the LED would be able to "reproduce" other colors? there is no way to eliminate this limitation htc? or is it a hardware limitation?

Even if it's a hardware limitation would it be possible to bypass it ? I plan to unmount my dhd this week end so I could look what's the led's controller.

Yeah its hardware limited. You can't change or bypass it causebl its tur only colours its cappable of poducong

[Q] LCD settings

Hi everybody.
Is there some chance to do any app, util etc for LCD settings parameters? On DHD is LCD too poor against Desire. By settings of gamma, contrast etc DHD will be in Desire status with quality of screen... What do you think..?
Nobody can replay? Is there some chance set this on rooted DHD? I think, it could be possible...
The desire had a diffrent type of display, we have lcd, it has amoled

Not all desires
had amoled they use slcd also

I believe the OP was asking if it was possible to alter the LCD display settings. In other words, the settings that then allow for the LCD display settings to be altered. This would include screen saturation levels, contrasts, gamma, white balance etc. Currently, we can only change the brightness. It would be useful. LCDs can be set up to look nice and appealing (such as my HD Monitor), and as such I believe it is simply a bit of delving "under the hood" of the phone (software wise of course, there should be a few settings to allow those settings to be altered )
sure would be nice. But i think those settings are deep inside the system and someone would have to write a special tool and implement it in a custom rom to actually give us access to screen options.
Not an easy task i guess.
It would be quality if someone could do it!!
Iv not doubt it would be real hard, but im sure some of the amazing ppl here could do it Fingers crossed someone who can, manages to spare a little time to look into it!!!?
That could be done, just like the "render effect" in CM. But at the cost of performance.
Maybe someone could do it by altering the driver without performance loss? Looking forward to it.

I am not programmer, and I dont really know what way is to do it,but I am sure, that is possible, couse every screen needs to be adjusted to some preferences, and this is not from a nature. It have to be set by some numbers 0 and 1 question is, if is somebody to do this...? Is it a challange for someone? Huh..? B-)
edit: when I had Desire and DHD (both with slcd) together with the same desktop, desire has very nice, live, shiny collors and DHD looks beside of desire as grey shadiw... sad and dead collors... am i wrote right this?
sure it can be done, but the question is: will someone develop an app to do it? I'm using CM7, and there is a option called "render effect" that let you apply some filters (blue, amber, salmon, etc)... personally, i like the option "calibrated (n1)".
ah, and don't ever put dhd side by side with almost any high-end device (mainly amoleds)! =o)
hmmm i said both device has slcd... my friend ;-) and render effect dont solve my quetion... and if will someone do it,DHD will be much better than before... dont you think?

i didn't know dhd has a slcd, i really believed it was a lcd...

I noticed on the review of the Canadian Release of the Telus DHD (Mobilsyrup )it mentions SLCD several times,The XDA review never says SLCD,but refers to it as LCD.Either they are different screens or the reviews aren't as accurate as necessary.
If DHD has LCD so I dont undestand why Desire - as lower device has much better SLCD/AMOLED screen, RGB LED etc. and DHD as higher device and it costs much money, bigger screen,is made as lower device than Desire, worse screen, BI collored LED only... Where is an idea - point of this? Why? Feel much dissapointed and cheated...

My story with the Desire...or HD (for desire and desire HD users)

Hi all!
I'm a HD2 user!
I'm using Android on it since early july 2010 and now it runs android nearly perfectly as a native android phone and i like it!
However, last few weeks have been bad, the screen digitizer broke twice (on his own ) (discovered later that it's a hardware buttons issue not a screen ) and now my camera flash is dead! Besides there's the signal issue which kills me sometimes because i feel/think that a native android phone shouldn't loose signal while my old nokia is full of it!!! ( i hope my feelings are right )
So i'm thinking of going to a native android phone mainly Desire or Desire HD.
I like the desire HD however i'm short on budget and i don't wanna pay this much UNLESS it's really that "better" than the normal desire.
I've made a quick search on both of them and i got these problems with each one:
Desire:
-bad battery consumption
-pink screen tint almost everywhere
Desire HD:
-bad battery consumption
-grip of death problem (signal issue while holding phone)
-blurry camera pics on some phones
However, of course HD specs are far better on paper!
So what do you think guys!? What should i do?! Are there another Cons that i don't know about anyone of both?! Do anyone of you have both of them and can help me?!
If you reached here reading, then you deserve a big thanks

10x for that man, but can you please help me here!?
I've had a Desire since launch and never had a pink tint
Tint thingy is not a problem and all phones have bad battery lifes, it just might feel like battery drains faster, but that's because you will do all kind of awesomeness with Android phone. My Nokia 5800s battery dies also fast (maybe faster even) when I start doing same stuff than on my Desire.

I should buy a desire
Desire hd

dont forget about two other issues the original desire has: no real multitouch (which IS a big disadvantage) and small internal memory (ok there are root solutions but in order to have a fast system you would need to buy a decent class 6 SD card)
desire HD ? well, small battery could be a problem, but i think with custom roms it you should be just fine.
if i was to buy new phone now, with the knowledge about the original desire i think i'd go for HD. (basically it all comes down if you can coupe with -not real- multitouch - in gaming for example)
Ok man thanks for this good review, but the question is "does the HD have real multitouch?!?" Or we will discover later on (as we did with desire and hd2) that it doesn't have real multitouch?!

yes its very good in multitoch

Black HTC One X - Different Camera.apk + Software Number (3 photos)

Hi all,
The black HTC one X has a different Camera.apk which has only Grid in the interface options, a measure taken probably because it is illegal to turn off the shutter sound in the camera. (From what I know). Comparing them side to side, the black version also "stutters" less when moving around, but also, both the colours and the screen seem to have a better contrast.
These are the photos, included is the different software number. I saw this model in two different stores.
Can anyone perhaps upload the black camera.apk? I think it fixes some of the issues the white one has. Are there any roms based on this version?
All the best.
Must be regional as your version numbers all differ a great amount from mine.
Also, I have a white one with the ability to toggle shutter sound. A black one from a friend also has that option.
Also, why on earth would it be illegal to turn off shutter sound?
Kernel 3.0? It's a custom ROM...
Mine is black and I don't have any deferent camera.

That's just retarded imo. I mean, normal camera's and such don't have shutter sounds aswell.
This is probably an unreleased FW version on the phone used on display models? I think HTC probably pushed a non-consumer version of the 3.0 kernel for best performance? better performance = more sales. I'm not sure.

i think its the One XL so hold your horses
interesting how the settings icon of the camera is red/orange when pressed
mine is green
Duh... it's one xl, with a stock software version 1.81.841.1.
I've got international black one X and trust me, there is an option to turn of the shutter sound.

You're right. This is the XL. A simple google search of the FW number revealed the XL FW page. And for a second there I thought the 3.0 kernel release was imminent.
Baseband was the giveaway...
It could be the One XL, I didn't know they look alike so much. I'll double check when I go back to make sure.
Posting two photos of One X versions with different menu colours, red and yellow/orange, both of them display models.

It wasn't that hard to identify XL or X,

You guys are funny. The phone itself is exactly the same. In the last stage of assembly it's put in to either a white or grey body. There's no h/w or s/w differences between the colors. You can buy a different colored body on eBay and change the color and nothing will change with the internals.

This sounds like BS if you ask me. Why would HTC include kernell 3.x, still use old HTC API and Android 4.0.3... While they have A 4.0.4 TEST rom out which uses the new HTC API...
And from the SW version it is 100% a One XL!

I heard in radio that it's illegal to turn off shutter sound in phones, and that is only in Japan or somewhere there.
The best is the reason. Guys loves to take photos of strange girls on the street, specially when they have very short skirt. Problem is that the guys taking photos of what is under this short skirt. Therefore is better when it's making sound also.....
This is a example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDFSLCNSJLM
Another example is sleeping girlfriends/wives, or using a camera when cameras
are not permitted.

[Q] Poor low light camera performance.

Hello All.
I bought an HTC Desire A8181, GSM version, and the first thing I did was to upgrade it to 2.3.
There is nothing wrong with it, but there is one thing that has me disappointed: the low light performance of the camera.
I have had an HTC Wildfire/Buzz and cuurrently have a HTC ChaCha/Status, and both of them has way greater low light sensivity.
Not even the flash helps...
Is this a faulty cam module or just a 'feature' of this model???
Thanks.

Some users are stating that it does in fact have DDR3 RAM. It would be great to get confirmation on the LED though.
S801 comes always with DDR3!
