No need to think, they definitely have a thread about this, its not hard to find.

Its possible only if you know an HTC employee who does it(probably lose their job if caught), or simply until developers find a way to do it.

There are S-off One X's out there. But very very very few of them are existing. I'd say just over 100 handsets. My One X is S-OFF. I got it as a prize from HTC!

lucky you

It can be accomplished. But you can't fix S-OFF with a few bucks.
You need alot of things. Mine has been unlocked by one the developers that is trying to accomplish this by a software solutions.
Now you need is a encrypted javacard and more stuff... In other words, try to rob the HTC repair center in your country and you have the stuff to S-OFF.

thought footballer and xmoo both got s-off at the same time as x-moo got hold of one of the javacards or what ever they are

Xmoo did the S-OFF method on mine phone. But like I said, it is not done for everyone to S-OFF with Javacard. If we could copy the card... then everyone already has his HOX S-OFF.
Think about it
All I know for now, they are working behind the scene to get a software solution to S-OFF like the HTC Desire...

I did know that command, just didn't know is a universal s-on "method"
.oh wel you learn 'till you die.:silly:

s-off is a need not a minor thing
and taking much time for dev to do it may lead to abanding the phone eventually :good:

If we get unlocked bootloader we can flash HBOOT making s-off

Hello WFS Users!
Could we atlease get a ETA of the s-off. I'm hoping till Christmas :3 Should we complain to HTC also stating its nearly Christmas. If we could get a unlocked bootloader, we can flash radio-type of expliot via recovery or fastboot so we can get s-off and also progress on more ROMS (which I'm hoping to do.) But HTC will never UNLOCK BOOTLOADER.

Jesus Christ, how many times ?
Seriously, this is 1000th thread about stupid S-OFF, it's okey, I want it too, but I ddidn't open a new thread.
There's already enough threads about it.
No wonder why we were in legacy.
And if people insist in creating garbage we'll end up legacy again...

s-off = unlocked bootloarer
The title makes little sense to me. If we unlock the bootloader... STOP right there. You have s-off when you unlock bootloader. Flashing a hboot [a new bootloader] is quite risky. Better have your RUU on stand-by and realize there is a real possibility of bricking your device. Of all the things I've flashed, hboot is by far the riskiest. Just thought I'd warn you. It's not a rom, it's not a radio [which is slightly more risky], its your bootloader. You have a proven eng hboot that will work with A510a,b.c,e and know the risks [yes you can brick your phone with the wrong adb commands if you don't know what you're doing, besides the install risk] ok be my guest. But most end-users don't need the extra adb commands; so, they gain risk with no reward. Just sayin...
Rob
PS ETA on gsm s-off is whenever you feel like borrowing a xtc clip; cdma well same method but hardware not needed.
yea, so i don't see why post this thread

Rooting a locked phone - IT'S COMING!!

Seems the legend that is Paul O'Brien has successfully rooted a locked phone...if you wish to try then please go to the MoDaCo site to get the link
http://www.modaco.com/topic/353986-...t-unlocking-the-bootloader-windows-mac-linux/
Paul hasn't tested it fully so this is an early exploit so make sure the RUU for your phone is available as, if things go wrong, you could be screwed!
you can test already but be aware that its early alpha and it could harm your phone
He has a s-off device so it might not work but hopeful for guys who haven't unlocked.

Yeah, was creating the thread when I saw he'd posted the r3 file online so will update the OP
Paul says that the worst Case Scenario would be that u must use a RUU, nothing about Brick!
i heard that some say that there is a tempered message in the hboot. so maybe there is still a sign for htc that you have modified something
He did it for the HTC Desire so I don't doubt him!

Must like when people use super wipe without the Rom on the sd
I'm already unlocked so I'm more interested in s-off.

So if this works what can I do? Just use root apps or can I install custom roms as well or do I need an unlocked bootloader for that
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
At the moment, just root apps...there's a chance it might lead to ROMs, though (fingers crossed)

True but not everyone has access to RUU's, a lot of suppliers havent put out ones for the 1.28 base so all those who have done an OTA update can no longer use the 1.26 RUU because of the updated HBOOT.

So I cannot flash a new radio or something to bypass it? Is there no way to hack into the phone and unlock it? Feels weird they managed to lock it at such a low level.

How were you able to root it? I still haven't been able to find a way.....mines from Verizon and it seems to block anything I try.

S-0FF:

I remember when I had the m7 there were some programs running with adb, (there was a "htc one tool kt") called Renove, Firewater, ant Rumnunner who made the s-off device.
Is there a case to work for HTC 10?

Same with the HTC rezound.
I tested for the final release.
Must had restarted that phone with a paperclip 100+ times lol.
Turned out my crappy 1gb SD card was the issue. Tossed a 4gb one in and had soff first try.
