[Q] Encryption - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I've searched and read quite a bit on this subject but I just can seem to find a definitive answer and I'm hoping one of you can help.
I read a brief article about phone security, in it the author was quite firm in saying that all SD cards should be encrypted. He said that this would stop any malicious apps from being able to read data elsewhere on the card (maybe it should be done to the phone too?)
Can any of you guys confirm this? Or maybe suggest another way for me to protect myself against nasty apps? I used to use avast, should I install it again?
Thanks in advance folks

[Q] - I do not want to post ten times, am I allowed to read?

hi everybody,
even before being a member (2006) I was simply readying this forum and find the info I needed and use it. I am annoyed about stupid questions and decided not to contribute to the mess. was easy to find if you wanted. the account was created at some moment in time when we here at xda had an ftp and for download it was the only way.
now, I find myself in the need of information and tried to read some long posts here. unfortunately, these days, I am not even alloed to read some posts! this is beyound my understanding! do I need to write something like this to get the acceptance to read a post? I can not find any good reason for such a decision!
is there any way to get this sorted without posting ten times? thank you for taking the time to read this!
background: I wasn't posting because the knowledge the other members had was way above my so I preffered not to say stupid things that will only make the threads harder to read. I do not post now because I do not have the time to get involved (thanks for understanding). I will understand if my thinking is not in line with the "forum" rules and if I do not get this right.
I propose to cut my rights for posting but allow me access to read.
(I was looking for a solution in q&a but each similar thread had a link to development section that I was not allowed to read.
As you joined in 2006 you should be able to both read and post in any forum without reaching ten posts.
If you are unable to view a forum at all then please contact an administrator.

But all members can view Development forums. What I think is happening is that you are following a link to a thread that has been deleted.
Can you give us a copy of the url of the page that you cannot see.

Can I delete old threads?

Is it possible to delete old threads if so how? thanks
Only moderators can delete threads.
Moved to About XDA section.
If you need a thread to be closed, you will need to contact your FSM (forum specific fomerator) and ask them to close the thread for you. As for deleting a thread, i think a moderator would rather close the thread, as someone else searching for an answer to a question might find the answer in your thread, stopping the need for that member opening a new thread to ask their question.
Exactly
I was the same problem. Thanks for your guidance.
It is a bit of a bummer as to why you cannot delete posts and threads of your own but you can see why it is necessary for that permission to only be given to a MOD.
But the REPORT button could be seen as the close button.

*Please Help, is this keylogger?

I just rooted my phone (Galaxy Note 2) 10-14 days ago and I also have downloaded the mod games outside the google app store. [Q] Bluebox hack 8219321

Once these guys release how their exploit works....
is there any way someone might be able to come up with a way to remove the "SYSTEM" tag from some non-essential apps (ChatOn, most of the Samsung bloat, etc).
I have disabled most of the apps - but there are some that wont disable. I would like to be able to disable the remaining ones. . . .
I believe this should be in the Q&A section buddy
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
That supposed bluebox scam is just a hoax. There have been ways to get around the signature checking since Android development started, and it has nothing to do with Android itself.
That said, their "discovery" has nothing to do with the context you're bringing it up in.
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.

Mom needs help! Samsung s9 lost messages during Smart Switch. Have "Message" file.

S9 is old I know but it's what I have & I don't let my kids or anyone mess with it & it's rarely been dropped so it's still in good shape. Battery is getting weak & it's not ready for 5g but I need to help it creep along a little longer & so I did a backup without pics & copied pics over to my laptop's external hard drive & then did the factory reset using the buttons. I then did the Restore. Only thing that didn't come through in Smart Switch restore was my old text messages.
There is a file called "Message" that is rather large like 5 Gig. I'm assuming this is the file of text threads that SS should have transferred over to my phone? Assuming such, I did go ahead & transfer that big file back onto my phone in a general location like Data or something just so I'd have it handy on the phone if I needed it at the phone store.
Is there ANYONE or anywhere that can tell me where Samsung is storing the text threads in S9's? Or perhaps even better, how to get Smart Switch to recognize this file & let me restore it using Smart Switch app on my laptop? It's Windows PC. Carrier's tech guy tried to walk me through doing that today but in the app it does not recognize there is any text messaging restorable files.
I'm desperately needing help. So many old sentimental messages. My parents, my kids, & now grandkids. Friends who've passed away...just like anyone I'm sure. I'd be very grateful for any help.

I'm so unfamiliar with this site. I was rushing. I appreciate the kind response. And thank you for moving it to the right forum.
