[Q] Team Win Recovery Project - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Any idea when well be receiving this recovery? The Sprint Note II has already made it onto their supported device list.

I thought this is already available for the Note 2. http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/115. Is there a version specific for different carrier models? I was under the impression that the CWM recovery we used for rooting was from N7100, so I'm assuming that the TWRP recovery will also work on the Note 2. I'm still using CWM recovery though and haven't tried installing TWRP.

Good to know Yo_MaMa, thanks for reporting back. I thought i read somewhere that the backups are not restoring successfully with TWRP.

Ya I tried it on mine and it would not mount the sdcard properly so I could not even see files on the sd card nor could I make a nandroid... It's just not working properly for some reason?
EDIT: New version out and it installs through GooManager and it's working 100%!

Thanks shojus, I'll install it now. I've always preferred TWRP than CWM because of the file manager advance option and the ease of use selecting internal or external storage. :good: Good News!!!

I created CWM-flashable ZIPs of these two recoveries (and the Team Epic v4 recovery). You can use those to switch recoveries easily if you want to try these out.

A couple of issues:
- It seems like ext SDcard support was removed (it was not working on 5.8.4.5 too)
- Backups still have 1970 date

I agree. When I made the first set of zips I had never used ROM Manager and didn't realize he charged for installing the touchable recovery when flashed through ROM Manager. He says you can do it yourself if you want to download it from his website for free, but I don't think it's right for me to make that any easier.
You can get the regular recovery directly from ROM Manager. That's probably easiest.
Touch doesn't have a working status bar during backup/restore. Leaves you sitting there wondering if anything is going on....if it weren't for the phone heating up one would think its frozen....date is also still screwed up

Yeah... but if you update to version 5.8.4.6 (released just an hour ago) it totally removes external sd card support; for zip flashing, backups, restores, etc.
Could have sworn I read somewhere that 5.8.4.5 external sdcard support was broken when restoring a backup???? Don't know why he would have removed it if there was nothing broken... Koush is weird like that though.
Anyway, the Team Epic version has everything working except the date issue, which is also present in koush's builds too.
5.8.4.6 looks like it removed External SD support...wonder why...gonna flash back to .4.5
Made a backup with TeamEpic v4, tried flashing CM9, got a version error, flashed 5.8 Touch CWM, rebooted recovery. Tried to flash backup, error restoring /system. Reflashed the ROM I was running, which seemed to go fine. Rebooted and just stayed in the boot screen for over 10 minutes with the blue light on solid. Used Odin to flash to stock tar, completed successfully, rebooted, sat at boot animation (had the AT&T screen in it) for 10 more minutes. I'm beginning to think I ****ed my phone. Please advise.

Turn off your phone and boot into recovery. Doesn't matter if it's stock recovery. Do a data wipe. Then load stock fw again with Odin. You"ll be good.

If I hold them all long enough, it shows Samsung Galaxy S III, then shuts off. If I let go as soon as it vibrates, it just goes into normal boot animation.
Right when Samsung pops up let go of the power button. Try that. The first Samsung Logo that appears

Question about CM10.1 rom

This is probably a stupid and obvious question but...Do I have to root my phone first before flashing CM10.1 on my Note 2 sgh-i317m?
I started off with installing clockwork recovery but when I go into recovery mode I see android system recovery.
if I have to root can someone provide me with a great guide to do so please and thanks.

If the recovery install didn't stick then you have to rename the recovery restore files, which requires root.
Use the gnote 2 toolkit to root.
I would just root without installing a recovery and use goomanager to install the latest version of twrp from inside android. Reboot into recovery and flash whatever you want. For my phone needs, CM10.1 is nowhere near ready to be used daily, so make a backup.

I wouldnt go that far. Rootbox now has no issues for me. Bluetooth works perfectly for everything. Camera works great. I dont even know whats not working anymore because most of the daily things I use work perfectly....Phone, Texts, Group Messaging Stock, Bluetooth, Video, Photos. Up until yesterdays update Bluetooth would crash when switching modes or after a call. Then a reboot was necessary but now it works perfectly.
I do agree about the backup plan though.
OK I rooted and flashed CM10.1 on my phone but I'm wondering if I missed something because I don't seem to be getting LTE. I only get H or 3G it seems. When I go into settings > about phone > status, it says Mobile network type: HSPA: 10.
Try changing the apn

[RECOVERY] i9505 TWRP 2.6.1.0 updated 29th Aug - Odin Flashable

It works, now I trying a backup. Seems successful! Thanks a lot.

[Q] Recovery Recommendation

I currently have a rooted E980 on stock ROM/Recovery.
My goal is:
1) Install CM 10.2 (and CM11 once stable)
2) Be able to back up ROMs (i.e. nandroid) - If I have a problem I would like to restore via a nandroid.
3) If all goes well, maybe try other ROMs (Carbon, Slim, etc) - Although I am not a flash addict.
I have experience with CWM and TWRP with other devices (Nexus, HTC), but it seems to be a bit different with the LG E980. I hear about Loki, Lokified, soft-bricks, boot loops, etc.
Should I use Freegee, TWRP 2.6.3 or PhilZ Touch? Any recommendations would be appreciated!
I have used the CWM 6.0.3.7 that came from Freegee to flash/backup/restore probably 20 ROMs with no issues. I know some people have had issues with it and prefer @madmack's hacked TWRP. I haven't had any though, so I have yet to jump ship. 2 cents.

same experience with freegee, no problems. the only issue I seem to have on some roms is that gps doesn't work and I have no idea why. and from what I hear you can't flash modems with cwm so I'm not sure if that's the problem or not.. everything else works perfect.
Thanks for the recommendations. Anyone used PhilZ Touch?
Ok, I used FreeGee to bypass security and installed TWRP 2.6.3.0. Boots into recovery fine, BUT it will not see my SD card and I tried two different ones. Normal boot shows the cards just fine. Trying to get CM 10.2 flashed.

Your cards are most likely in EX-Fat format. EX-Fat is a proprietary file system that is licensed my Microsoft. Since TWRP doesn't license it they can't (legally) include support in their recovery. You're going to have to copy everything over to your computer, reformat the card and transfer everything back. Otherwise you can look to see if there are any recoveries for the G Pro with EX-Fat support.

Well if you are updated to current tou would be oe1 no longer bob7 and oe1 cant be rolled back to bob7. Best thing there is one rom that works that is bob7 and that is noterized rom. This is a great rom as well to be stuck on till the oe1 tar is released or rumored oe3 being tested. Just download and follow SaintZ93 installation instructions. Hopw this helps.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Can you throw some ideas at me on how I can transfer files to my phone? MTP doesn't work

Do you have another sd card you can use or another phone to reformate the sd card. then follow needed steps to have twrp install rom. as well you should be able to move to phone storage to flash this rom just do your wipes first then twrp to comp and move to internal memory (phone). Make sure you have a good brand sd card as well the cheap 12 dollar ones just dont cut it most of the time. I try them and most of the time i get burned.

That is correct this rom is the only one i have gotten to work, we are waiting on the OE1 Tar to drop so Dev can start to switch over but I have a feeling we wont see a TAR till oe3 comes out. Which in that case you can not go to oe3 till the TAR drops and flash through Odin. Sorryman but you are stuck, the best part at least it is a great rom to use and stable.

how do i install twrp on oe1 update
Even on OE1, I believe it's still the same as normal:
-download odin to your pc, download twrp to your pc
-power off Note 4 first, then turn on by pressing: power + home + volume down (then hit volume up to continue when prompted on screen)
-connect phone to pc (download/install samsung drivers if you haven't already), now load up odin & make sure you're connected to phone & now you can install TWRP
