How to block numbers on GN2 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Since i had my GN2 I've been trying to find out how to block a number and so far no luck. On my GS3 all you had to do was hold the name long and it would give you an option to add to block but i don't see anything on my GN2. Any help on this?

Open phone app, menu, then settings>call rejection> auto reject list and add the number.
Or you could log into mysprint and go to preferences and choose to block certain numbers from inbound calls.

Or text "Block InsertNumberHere" to 9999 and it will block the number. Don't add the quotations.

Thanks, works like a charm

Call/Message Forwarding Shortcut on Homescreen

hey there,
would it be possible to add a toggle/shortcut to enable call and message forwarding? its a bit "complicated" to do it through the standard settings.
DN41
There is a shortcut for Directdial. Is not that enough for you? I do not know if there is any shortcut for sms forwarding though...
directdial?
mh...a "toggle" would be really nice though.

Create two new Contacts: one named Forward_On w/ phone number **21# and one named Forward_Off, phone number #21#.
you can pick other names if you like.
now, from your home-screen select
Personalize > Shortcut > direct dial > pick "Forward_On" > pick the item w/ **21# as number and repeat the same for "Forward_Off". Now you should have 2 Items on your homescreen which turn call forwarding on and off.
Finally (if you haven't done so already), set up the destination phone number by calling **21*0123456789#, replacing 0123456789 w/ the phone number you want to redirect all your calls to.
wow thats great
thanks a lot
is that possbile with message forwarding as well?
DN41
No, you cannot do message forwarding this way. (Call forwarding is a gsm-feature which is configured using the codes I mentioned. That means, once you activated this feature, your service provider will do all the forwarding for you, your phone doesn't do anything to forward a call. Message forwarding on the other hand is a sense-feature. Thus it cannot be set up with a gsm-code and you will have to use another method.)
you might want to try an app like Any Cut or BetterCut but I don't think your chances are too great...
ok, but thanks a lot for those informations.
i'm gonna ask the dev of widgetsoid, if he could do such a toggle.

To get VVM to work in the 1st place I had to use Titanium Backup and back it up from a ROM (I used Synergy) that it was working on. Then I restored it on this ROM and it works perfect... I just get that annoying text as well... When I called that number it did set up the service and I had to dial *38 to disable all call forwarding and reactivate my VMM... (followed directions from the Sprint website) and that worked... Just dont know how to disable the text as it appears not to be a valid number to block.

What texting app are you using? Because if you were using handcent, you should be able to blacklist it.

Go to your messages inbox. Click on the title bar at the top that says messages and has an arrow. You should see a drop down with three options "general" "secure" and "block" click on block and it'll take you to your blocked inbox. Hit menu then click on block list. Add 9016 to block list then click done. Now go back to your messages inbox and hit menu and click on settings, click on "general" and scroll to the bottom, you should see "save blocked messages" unselect the box. That should fix it for you!
Oh, and just a heads up, if you have never used the secure or blocked inboxes, it will have you set up a password when you click on "blocked" in the dropdown menu.

I want to say you can get Sprint to add them to a blacklist.
On another note... You got a girlfriend and a wife?!

you can do it yourself on the sprint website
Block or restrict text messaging services:
Sign in to My Sprint with valid username and password at www.sprint.com.
Click the My Preferences tab.
Under Limits and Permissions, click Block texts.
Click on the phone or device to restrict text messages.
Choose from the following options to block or restrict texts:
Do not block any text messages
Block all text messages inbound and outbound
Block all inbound text messages
Block all outbound text messages
Block only these numbers for inbound and outbound text messages
Allow only these numbers for inbound and outbound text messages
not understanding your question fully...do you want to block calls and texts...or hide calls and texts?...Go SMS Pro has a private box with password for texts
I have found no way of doing this on stock or rooted/modded app.. but the best alternative will be to download chomp sms... It's free and she would need to go through the settings just to find it which will be to much for her/them...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415412 Check this app out. It blocks anything.
actually there is a way to do it. ill explain how i did it. im sure there are alternative ways "better, faster" but this is the one i know. i downloaded launcher pro just to do it and then uninstalled launcher pro after i was done. open launcher pro amd create a shortcut on the home screen. scroll down to mms setup or provisioning, i cant remember for sure. that will open to a sub category and when u see the blacklist option pick that as your shortcut. now just launch it from your new shortcut and choose what #s u want to blacklist. this has worked for me since i got my e4gt. good luck, veritasaequita

Send calls to voicemail
On the Evo you used to be able to select a contact and choose to automatically send calls to voicemail when that person called. That was good for bill collectors so I could just send it voicemail without it even ringing. Does anybody know how to do that with this phone?
get hide it pro...
Works wonders ...its in the market..you can hide SMS ...all calls from blacklisted contact have incoming calls go straight to VM and it has a dope interface that no one but you knows how to access

Settings to disable SMS/MMS

What settings can be used to disable sms/mms on a phone? What configuration can be changed or edited to not receive this? I have cdma / qpst or whatever is needed available to me
you want to receive no text messages? what are you using your phone for? the only way i know of to actually not receive them is to call sprint and have them disable yhour IP, but then you wont have any 3G connectivity. you could always just go into your settings and disable all notifications for sms apps.
If you don't want to receive SMS/mms what so ever, without any hacking, simply login into your account at the sprint website. Under my preferences, you can block data, block SMS/mms, or even block certain numbers, or voice altogether.
These settings exist for parents and punish their kids. Haha.

I dont want to turn it off via Sprint or just disable notifications. I am wanting to know if there is a setting in the config ##data# or similar that can be changed or edited to either not get the text or to make it so it doesnt come through on the device.
Any thoughts?
Miui has this.
You can whitelist or blacklist any number. You can choose to ignore the message, or simply block it from being received. You can also block messages from strangers with key words... Its very thorough, and available natively through miui.

call blocker

does anyone know of a call blocker that does not run in the background?
Google voice does this and much more for free. You can block numbers, send specific numbers directly to voicemail, set up different voicemail messages for different numbers, get transcriptions of voice messages, etc.

There isn't a built in way to do it. Not in standard Android at least. I use the app "DND Call Blocker" to block calls from unknown numbers and from a black list. Seems to be a very lightweight app and does the job well.
i couldnt find the built it one, but i will try the one you just said
If you add the number to a contact, then you can set "All calls to voicemail". But if you want to skip voicemail also, then I have no idea if it can be done in software on the phone.
