So guys which toggles do u leave on - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I had my Gs3 stolen last week and now i got a note 2 which is amazing. couldnt locate my phone coz i had my GPS turned off to save battery life. now with my note 2 i think ill leave it on its less private coz many apps track your location and all. so what toggles do u guys have it lit up?

If you have cerberus installed in your system apps, you can send a remote command via your PC and it will turn on your gps. Very cool!
Sorry your phone was stolen but the bright side is you now have a beautiful NoteII

Samsung offers mobile tracking aka Samsung dive, hope tmobile inludes this feature along with multi-view

FYI if u have the "PHP" (premium headset plan) it includes a free app from Tmobile Mobile Security.
Also encrypted GNote2 and Nexus 7, if lost or stolen data retrieval will be a bit harder, not impossible but not easy.

Lost phone.

Just lost my phone in taxi I'm rooted also have face unlock and pattern unlock secondary. Is there anything I can do to assure the finder can't use it. Or can I track it. I'm on monthly 4g so no insurance!
That sucks man. As for gps locating your phone I believe that's offered by your insurance, or if you had any type of Norton, kaspersky, trend micro etc security on it. They offer stuff like that. Otherwise you might be SOL. As for them getting in I don't know. Maybe someone else can shed some light on that answer.

Go to the play store from your computer and download "plan b" it will be pushed to your phone and allows you to track it.

A buddy of mine used "Lost Phone" app from Play store
I hate how easy it is for someone to look up how to wipe a phone and easily bypass all security. Usually when someone finds a phone, that person doesn't want to know your stuff.
Where's my Droid can also be pushed, and then you can get it's location

did u ever set up Lookout on you phone? it comes w/it.. if you maybe randomly did one day, you can find it with that
2nd to the Plan B. That works amazingly. Also, check if you have a cab receipt. You might be able to use that to identify which cab specifically had the phone. You can call into their dispatch office and ask for that cab. Lookout is awesome too.
I called the cab said he saw no phone. Another passanger could have gotten it. I'm not even going to bother now what's done is done. Thanks to you and everyone for your help. I wanted a new phone anyway maybe my wife will get me one for fathers day. I'll wait and probably get a note or galaxy nexus I'm sticking with Samsung I have a windows and a iPhone at home but don't feel like it I can't go backwards .

I find that the GS3 is not much of a significant upgrade from the GSII. I would much more suggest a Galaxy Nexus since it will still be relevant for many more months to come. The GN comes with pure stock ICS not that TW crap. The GN is almost certain to receive jellybean directly from Google pretty quick while the S3 will have to suffer through what the SII just went through from GB to ICS

Should've went with nexus style all screen.that was kind of the point of ics

I would recommend setting up a pin lock on your next device, that way whenever the phone is restarted it prompts you for the pin. It doesn't matter if it's been wiped or not, it registers with your carrier. Also, as added security, I use Avast and from there I can remotely wipe my sd card and the phone, thus removing any chance of someone getting any of my personal info.

I totally agree don't know why these manufacturers still making new ics devices with buttons. Besides the nexus the only other device I see with on screen is a new Motorola phone coming out.

Avast for lost/stolen device tracking, allows device disable if the SIM is changed. Also allows you to lock, unlock, wipe, sound alarm by SMS. Hopefully I never need to use it.
From what i understand any perceived need for antivirus/malware scanning will disappear with 4.2 and the new Play Store.

Antivirus apps are pointless.
For lost/stolen I've been loving SeekDroid for a while now. Very nice app and works with out fail any time I test it.
Search for pdroid !
Btw antivirus = gimmick nothing else !
That's a good app I used to use it but it gets owned by cerberus. Try that it has way more features for a one time 3.99 fee. U can test free for a week.

+1 for seekdroid. Got it for free from Amazon a while ago but have found that its pretty good. Haven't had to 'test' it for real just yet but gives me a bit of piece of mind.
Reality is that if your phone is stolen, likelihood of getting it back is pretty slim. For me, real important part would be able to wipe my data to protect myself from anything more than losing a couple hundred bucks on a device.
None, I don't believe in them. If my phone gets lost or stolen then that's that, little can be done afterwards. Police often times wont help and knocking on the persons door and demanding the phone will get you nowhere except property trespassing. Even then, I doubt my offender would want to use any of my information stored on my phone. Any smart thief would know to wipe the phone clean to avoid any of these apps which don't do much. As far a viruses go, really? The only reason anti-virus apps where made was to satisfy the needs of the paranoid, lets leave it at that.
I was mainly speaking of anti theft app, and not to get the phone back, but yes to wipe everything!

cerebus. it's great. went to the washroom and left my phone in my meeting room. i come back and check my email and there's a photo of my co-worker trying to punch in the wrong PIN code. lol.
I dont have one installed right now, but when I do it's Lookout. I have had lookout stop installation for an app before, I was sideloading it. I dont keep one installed for normal use of the phone and Play Store, but if I was going to be sideloading apps again I would use it for that.
Cerberus is by far the best security app I've used.

How is the Note II doing?

Planning to upgrade to it in about a month. Are there any issues? Like my Infuse had the silent GPS unit recall and that screwed a lot of people. Any issues yet?
None.

I came from the infuse, and in comparison the note is unreal.
Hard to believe, but there really is no problems.
Only problem i have is people randomly coming up to me interviewing me about my huge phone
I'm totally pleased with my note. I haven't even felt the need to root it, it's that good out of the box.
The only gripe I have is with the stock keyboard not auto-correcting. It has predictions line swift key has, but auto-correction sucks. The only reason this is an issue is because the stock keyboard is the only one that has handwriting recognition, which is really awesome to have on this phone.
If I'm missing something here regarding the stock keyboard, please let me know, because I'd really love to be able to use handwriting without having to switch keyboards back and forth.

Great so far. Loving it more than my SGS3. I was ready to throw my SGS3 against the wall because I couldnt get the battery to last more than 12 hours. My GN2 lasts 24+ with moderate usage.
Went from iPhone 4 to SGS3 now to the GN2 and loving it. Got the GN2 instead of upgrading my current Nexus 7 to the 3G Nexus 7.

Yeah, I was never a fan of the swiping. But the auto correction works decently if you swipe it out. It's a learning curve for me too. I'm getting better and after just a day I'm about as accurate as I am with the keyboard I was using before. What finally got me to really try was the multi view. Having the keyboard pop up and float makes it much easier than taking up the whole bottom of the screen. Plus I love that number row.
I would like to see an option to enable the auto correct, though.
I keep forgetting how big this phone is. It still catches me off guard when people say it's big, it really doesn't feel big anymore.

Rooting doesn't void your warranty. You can flash back to stock and with triangle away there is no lasting indication you did anything. I don't think there is any real chance of brick from rooting. I haven't seen someone bring a Samsung for a while that wasn't caused by user error flashing something meant for another device. I have seen HTC deny claims due to unlocked Bootloader, but only when dealt with direct, AT&T hasn't been. And I have never seen a report of Samsung denying warranty for something like that.

If you reflash the stock ROM bad then use the USB Jig or triangle away, it will show your phone as completely stock. If you keep it rooted with custom ROM you're definitely gonna be labeled as "customized"
Best phone I've ever owned, couldn't be happier. Upgraded to this from the Galaxy S3, and I see a MAJOR boost in performance and battery life. Highly recommend.
Fantastic phone without a doubt! Every ROM I have tried has been superfast.
My only gripe with the phone (and I didn't notice it at first) is that the plastic back makes all kids of clicking/squeeking type noises. Plastic does that. The back feels very cheap made. I have a replacement back coming tomorrow that is made from aluminum. This will make the device feel so much more solid. I will lose a bit of signal strength, but I can't stand the cheap clicking lol.

My observations of my new T Mobile note and my galaxy s3 International Version

I am finding that I love my new note but I really miss some of the features that I had on my samsung galaxy s3. The most notably will feature was the FM radio and also the find my phone app from Samsung. I hated it every time I had to send my galaxy s3 to have the problems fixed on to it because I had to go through the importer in Miami do you get anything fixed. This is why I went with T mobile this time so I can have is it repairs on a phone if I needed. This came into play two days after I got the new note 2 from T Mobile. It had problems with shutting itself off if you laid it down on the counter a little hard or jared the phone hard.

I'm not familiar with the Samsung find my phone app but if you can't get it on the tmobile phone you can probably find a similar app in the play store.

Apps you install remotely from the Play Store don't activate on the device unless you run them on the device.
Not much you can do outside of calling the police and your mobile operator.

Sadly that's what happens, 1st thing they do is remove your sim card, unless they're amateurs. then it will most probably be sold in another country using a different imei, which is why you should NEVER post your imei online. So basically your phone is gone. And the Google Locate and the Samsung find are not 100% reliable, yesterday I was testing the Google find with WiFi, GPS & mobile data on and it couldn't locate it. Best you can do is make sure your important data is protected on your phone and back up photos and all as much as you can.
