Games to play with friends on a long car ride? - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

I'm going to be on a car long ride with my friends next week, and I would really like some game suggestions that our group of 4 can play. Preferably, these games should (listed in order of preference) not require everyone to have a nexus 7, engage everyone equally without losing interest, not get boring after 5 hours of play (wifi and data are not a problem), not require too much movement ( we are in a car), and engage an unlimited number of people.
So far, I've tried out Taboo, truth or dare, and Would You Rather. These are decent games but they have their weaknesses and it never hurts to have more.
Sorry about such weird demands, the Marketplace's social category does not list social games for real life interaction. Though I can blame them.

I had fun with my friends with game Draw race on iPhone. I saw Draw race 2 on playstore, so try check it out.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GluZ28uZHJhd3JhY2UyZ3BsYXkuYW5kcm9pZC5yb3ciXQ..
There are also some board games I thing (Catan, Monopoly etc.)

There's a decent 2 player air hockey game in the free games section of the play store.
Good for 10 minute bursts.
Maybe do a tournament, 1st to 10 points.

I dunno if it's supported on n 7, but monopoly and game of lives were good multi player game that I used to play

I find all the above too difficult whilst driving

WP7 - best smartphone gaming platform

Gang, now having all three popular major smartphone systems has allowed me to sample the gaming offerings they provide. It looks like WP7 provides the most fun and best games of all of them....simplistic and casual and high quality type games. There's a larger amount of more enjoyable games on WP7 than on iOS or Android.
I'm not a biased person and love all smartphone systems equally so please keep the rants and misunderstandings out . And am merely reporting what I'm experiencing. I'm driven to WP7 for the gaming enjoyment and spend more time playing games on it.
The current games I like and find very enjoyable for passing time are...not in ranked order:
ilomilo
Tiki Towers (I know, it's also on other systems)
iBlast Moki
Need for Speed: Undercover
Fruit Ninja (I know, it's also on other systems)
Bubble Town 2
Tower Bloxx New York
I Dig It
Parachute Panic
Jigsaw Guru
Rise of Glory
Chicks'n'Vixens
Sketch Defence
Word Hunt
Word Tangle
Peg Jump
Frog Log
Solitaire (Offscreen Technologies version)
One game that seems interesting, but I don't understand, is Pocket God. If anyone knows how to play it; what the objective is, let me know.

Agreed... Pocket God is a strange one though... I mean it really plays out like just a bunch of ways to kill your little minions with a ton of mini--games involved. Really just a game for those who love achievements.
Casual maybe, but personally i disagree. some devices/platforms have the same game with more features. Take fruit ninja for example, it has multiplayer on another platform.

FruitNinja is one of the worst port games... Glitches and missing function.
The List of Great games should not miss The Harvest
ios has games like Dead Space 2 and Infinity Blade, android has multiplayer and FPS games, WP7 is full of iphone ports or games that are more expensive than other platforms, no real time MP - I dont see how its the superior gaming platform.

Nicely said.
Agree. Aside from the ilomilo (great game btw) and The Harvest (which i couldn't finish due to savegame crashes) most games really are more expensive ports of iOS and Android games. Dunno why xbox cheevos make 0.99c games like pocket god, fruit ninja, etc more expensive. Still, M$ needs to step it up. Currently i'm playing Real Racing 2, Pocket Legends and Dundef (cross platform online multiplayer iOS and android) which imho M$ should get for their platform
There are a lot of games I didn't include, which are no doubt excellent. But I didn't include them because I don't play them or find them casually and simplistically fun. There are similar or exact games on other systems, but I included them because they make up the entirety of the offerings that can be had on this system. When Angry Birds comes out for WP7, it also will be included in the "fun" factor of WP7 gaming.
WP7's own unique games are much better than anything comparative found on any other system.

Right, MS should put some great gameloft games like gangstar, modern combat, nova, etc.. even my old nexus one has it but i cant play it since the multitouch sucks. Dead space is another example (xperia play will be having it).. im just glad i can play dead space on ipad.. i really love that game! pocket legends is boring IMO.
Ilomilo alone is the definition of what a cellphone game should be. It's something you can play in short or long intervals, it's perfect for a handheld device, the graphics are great, the controls are flawless, I could go on and on but what it comes down to is no other mobile game compares.
I'd say wp7 has the potential to be the best of the 3, but has a ways to go before that is the case. There are some excellent games, however.
Maybe when the nextgen devices become available, better games (or ports lol) will alsp come out. But until then, my wp7 stays in the box while i play on my iP
Even a Microsoft fanboy like me can't agree the the OP. WP7 is a joke compared to iOS. Sure it may be a matter of time but as of today calling it the best smartphone gaming platform is being delusional.
Also, by the time great games like Dead Space come out on WP7 (which is also more wishful thinking, and will most likely be another port of the iOS version IF it ever does come) even better games would have already rolled out on iOS and android. Fiinal Fantasy 3, the DS version has already been announced for the iOS, Dungeon Defenders 2nd Wave already demoed for Android. Also, check out Desert Winds for the Android. These alone would make people think twice about gaming on WP7
What is tying down phones is the lack of hardware controls. When the Playstation phone comes on Android it will raise the bar out of sight. Even if there were no new games, just the PS1 emulator, it would dominate any smartphone.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/27/sony-announces-playstation-suite/
And other Android phones will get some of the benefits.
Microsoft can't compete with this, but they can at least reduce the damage if they:
-Launch an XBox phone.
-Produce a standard bluetooth controller that be added to any Windows Phone.
Then they will have to rely on new content, but can they get the necessary market share among gamers?
They are in a tough spot because they are competing against players (Nintendo, Sony) that have experience with portable gaming and existing content that can be used immediately.
Better position than Apple though.
I found another one called Krashlander. This is the pure, simplistic type, fun that really makes WP7 the best there is for smartphone gaming. Of course, the WP7-only games like ilomilo and others help it be the best, too. Of the 3 major smartphone systems, WP7 happens to be produced by the world's leading gaming company and it already, at this early age, shows.

2 player games

Hi i will have my SGS2 soon and i have brought the mrs a Galaxy ace as its her first smart phone and very cheap indeed.
I was woundering if there any 2 player games that we both can play against eachother from eachothers phones,
I no apples phones have games like this but i really havnt a clue with android as im slightly rusty with it tbh and never really had any freinds with an android device.
I've come across a few and they tend to be turn based games rather than real-time. There's a whole bunch of Scrabble derivatives (Words with friends, wordfeud, wordsmith), a few for chess (chess-presso is the only one I've tried but I know there are others) and one that I particularly like is Pool Break which lets you play pool, snooker, and a couple of other games.
For real-time gaming the only one I know of is Homerun Battle 3D which is quite good fun. I'm sure there are others but that should get you started.

Isn't mini squadron multiplayer? That's a fun little game.
so there is a few then, id concider playing any game against the mrs!
if you like starcraft, try starfront from gameloft, very nice detailed game, and very nice to play against friends (and your mrs if she likes that kind of games.)
Edit: they have multiplayer on most games, so check out their website. I believe they also have some nice racing games etc.

Play satisfaction

I have an iphone 4 now but i dont to play games on it due the small screen. Im looking a 2 scenarios. Keep my iphone and a actual handhelp system like the 3ds or psp vita. Then ive seen bestbuy has the play 4g for free with an upgrade. So im really wondering how are all of satisfied with the play as a gaming device and a phone? I really want the physical controls but does the obsolete hardware hinder it?
What is this obsolete hardware you speak of?
If you want actal high quality games buy a 3DS or PS Vita, If you want emulators get the Play. The real Xperia Play optimised games are nice but they are cheap and buggy iphone ports, so if you want high quality gaming get a hendheld.
People on here seem to try to deny it but yes the Play is somewhat sluggish as an android device when compared to such as the SGSII or the sensation xe and some newer games don't run great. Dead on arrival runs slowly, gta 3 has the graphics turned down and still suffers terrible frame rate drops regularly, and fifa 12 has terrible lag.
Having said that, I really wouldn't fancy trying to play those games on a touch screen, which is why I got the play!
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Opinions are like buttholes - everyone has one.
Personally, I love my Play. I don't find it to be laggy at all, once I took the time to customize it. Never a big time gamer, I find I play a lot more games now that I have the Play than I ever did with the handhelds I have owned. It really comes down to what your expectations are. If you want a great phone that can do many things well including play some great games, get the Play. If you're going to want the hottest, latest game titles, then get a cheap phone that doesn't require a data plan, or stick with that I-don't-know-what-I-was-thinkin'-phone, and buy whichever game system you think will best serve your interests.
The Xperia play has never been that sluggish to me, and I'm a heavy app user too, It performs just like another android device, I also installed v6 supercharger, Xperia play is a good phone.
SERIOUSLY, Fifa 12 lags on your Xperia PLAY?
what have you been doing to your phone lately?
Yep, my Xperia PLAY has also been lag-free.
I have a GS2, Atrix and G2x available to test on at any given time, and Xperia PLAY runs games just as smoothly as they do despite being a single core. It's far from obsolete, and as someone who also came from 4th gen iDevices... I can safely say it's been MUCH better at everything.
jeah performence is one thing... but the other thing is the quality of the games...
compare Street fighter 3DS with Bruce Lee
compare Splinter cell Conviction with Splinter Cell 3D
compare Mario Kart 7 with "Shrek Kart" or what ever
And than look at Super Mario 3D Land and cry becouse you have a Xperia Play and not a 3DS....
Understand what i mean?
So now we are comparing a next gen deadicated portable gaming device to a cell phone.
Wake up man its a cell phone, compare to to other cell phones.

I have to agree with narflynn here. I have hard a few times that FIFA 12 lags terribly but I've played it multiple times and in fact use it to show off my phone and it never lags. In fact all EA games run silky smooth and perfect with NEVER a single problem. Gameloft games on the other hand are hit or miss.
I love emulators and have many on my phone. Nes, snes Genesis n64 neogeo cps1 cps2. This phone is awesome for emulators. If you love emus this is the phone. Rooting and unlocking is really easy. Trust me this phone may not boast top of the line specs, but I don't care. I love this phone.
My favorite games to play are:
Modern Combat 3
Shadowgun
Dead Space
BackStab
Grand Theft Auto 3
Sonic CD
Dungeon Defenders
These are just a few. I have way too many games on my phone to count them and thats not even touching the amount of emulator games.
If you get this phone I would recommend rooting it and removing all the bloatware, then using script manager run the V6 Supercharger (best thing I have done for this phone) and I only overclocked my phone to 1.2ghz just to give it a little bump. And flashing a SDcard cache size limit from 125hb to 4mb really made the phones accessing the SDcard much smoother (but this should be done on all android phones as Androids SD cache size is set at 128k) But this phone plays all those games just fine. I have not had any issues with Grand Theft Auto 3 or Fifa 12. Once I rooted and did those thing this phone just flies. Again... I love this phone. I have a PSP and have not touched it once since getting this phone, its got like 3 inches of dust on it.

Yeah it is a cell phone. But it is not onle a cell phone it is THE psp phone that everybody dreamed of... It should be compareable to handehelds, not to other phones.
The Hardware of the Xperia Play is graet for gaming but the software sucks in that point. Dont understand me wrong, i love android. But for gaming the Xperia Play should have a gaming mode that opens in fullscreen and cancels all and i mean all backround progresses and runs games from that. It could look like the psp menu. Than it needs much better programmed games, wich are not so cheap and buggy and not made for touchscreen and just get ported. If sony is able to make this things true, the Xperia Play would be a real psp phone and could be much better than a hendheld.
I know i sound kind of angry with my Xperia Play and that is true, right now i hate it a little, and not only becouse its broken. If it stays i am really going to get a 3DS. And maybe sell my play...

No, it shouldn't.
Its a Phone, there is a ton of basic functionality that is required to be running all the time.
I don't want to miss calls and texts and calendar alerts because I'm busy smashing up Dr Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog. I like that it plays games, but i NEED it to be a phone, as does most everyone else. I also like that I can do those things, and then hop right back into the game I was playing.
Aside from the fact that while the savvy public like us would understand how that mode works, the rest of the public would freak out that playing games blocks the ability for calls and texts to get through.
Where do you get psp phone from? Its a android cell phone with a playstation certified gamepad.
Thats it.
Thats all it ever was and all it ever will be. You hype it up so much just to disappoint yourself.
The xperia play is one of the best android based cell phone on the market. Who ever told you this was a psp should be shot in the face

Just buy the 3ds. The 3d effect is very cool and the quality of games will never be matched by cheap android games.
Mario kart 7>any racing game available in the appstore, even real racing.
from tapatalk on xperia play.
Apple has some great games that i would like to play but with a 3.5" screen my fingers will cover half of it. Im just Not a fan of playing games on a small touchscreen. A gaming device with a physical controller and still has all the smarphone functionality. Thats what i want. If rooting and tweaking cures the few flaws of the play i can do that.

Favourite game and app on the Galaxy S2?

Okay, so I just spent half an hour looking through the Android Market at the top games and apps, and haven't really seen anything that catches my eye!
Now, maybe it's just me, and I'm being a little too fussy, but I really don't seem to be able to find a good, highly addictive long term game.
Current Games - Mark /10:
Doodle Jump - 6
Blood and Glory - 7
Cut the rope - 4
Enchanted Realm - 6
Fieldrunners - 8
Flight Control - 4
Fruit Ninja - 5
Great Little War Game - 6
Gun Bros - 5
Tap Tap 4 - 5
Zynga poker - 2
Unblock Me - 9
As for interesting apps... I can't find anything :/
Any help and advice would be nice?
Thanks in advance!
I have been searching for that game you are looking for for over a year now and haven''t found anything myself yet.
Gun Bros was fun in the beginning, but Glu Mobile only wants to milk your wallet a bit more (that goes for all of their games, mind you!). All fine with me, but the game strats to drag after a few months of play and becomes tedious. It levels too slowly, or, to put it differently, the weapons are too expensive (and the expensive one do not even live up to expectation). I abandoned it after like three months or so.
I like the ""Choice of ..." series very much -- I'm currently playing Broadsides and Romance. I'm not originally into RPGs, but this is kinda fun. It more or less makes the story more interesting if you have influence on the outcomes, even if it sometimes is clear the difference is minor because the story picks up again the same way it did the last few times. Nice time-waster, though.
Random Mahjong for the sleepless hours (I use it with Screen Filter to dampen the screen brightness a bit, primarily to soothe my eyes since I have it plugged it when I''m in bed anyway).
Flight Control: meh. Fun in the first few levels, but tedious after a while.
Plants vs. Zombies: very funny, like the humor. Have played it on the PC -- great fun -- an enjoy it on the Android platform. Wish I could play it on a bigger screen, though: it wouldn't be the first time I scr**ed up on plant placement.
Virtual City: instant buy. Like it very much, but haven't been playing lately due to real life taking over for a bit. Have the Sandbox Edition installed as well, but haven't played it yet for the same reasons.
Age of Wind: likeable, and fun, but the steering mode annoyed me and I was put to the bottom of the sea very fast. I find the economics unclear and " steep".
Apparatus: reputed to be great fun. Installed, but not played yet.
Dead Space: looked like a winner (oh, the visuals! : D ), but the controls annoyed me supremely. Happily uninstalled.
Guerilla Bob: fun, but not for a the long-term you are apparently looking for. I liked it though, but again, way too short.
Robo Defense: immensely fun, and you can keep experimenting on different lay-outs and tower compositions. Achievements provide that little extra oomph of stimulus to go on and on and on. Had to wrestle myself away from this one for sheer terror of social dysfunction.
Stupid Zombies: fun, and a ''thinker'', but very hard on higher levels, which might be a put-off if you're a casual gamer.
Reckless Getaway: fun, but it turns out I'm a crappy virtual driver (luckily not so in real life -- that doesn't really fit with a motorcycle, now, doesn't it ; )
Cut the Rope: quite possibly a killer game for most of us. Thinking fast is key here, I like it very much. (I have to admit though that my 3.5 year-old son is about as good as I am. But he is astonishingly good for a 3 yo, ROFLOL!)
Great Little War Game: hard one, this one. Liked it, but was not 'steadfast' and sometimes was unclear what consequences movement would have. There is only an inconsequential und relatively uninformative tutorial, so you're left to fend for your own.
Not played (extensively): UNO, Siegecraft, Virtual City Sandbox Edition.
Hope that helps a bit.

i'm currently addicted to Where's My Water ... it's really fun to play
If your looking for a long term game to play like op on laptop or pc like fifa or warcraft or aion or need for speed there ar none to few...the gameplay on android device is limited by your own taist ,like marty allready told @ some game's controls ar badass.
Deadspace and Nova2 hd ar the taste for eyes but a hate for controls
Eart and Ledgend and Samurai2 and Third blade free ar for rpg less graphical lust for eyes but controls ar way better
Sleepy Jack and Cordy and sonic4 and windup kight and snowpro ar good/oke but also simple gameplay
And for app's depend on what your using your phone for howe old you ar and where you live
I am a plumber/central heating and work on new and renovation buildingsite's so for my work i use extreme alarm clock to set alarm ,tiny flashlight for in the dark and calculator for..and business calander and fm radio
For fun i use plume for twitter ,friendcaster pro for facebook ,skype and chaton to talk and text with home or friends and some dutch app's.
For practical use a have 1tap cleaner ,documents to go ,advanced task killer ,Dr.web(for security) ,igo8 to not get lost here in europe ,my data manager for 3g ,total recall for sgs2 to record my call's ,tunein radio when i am home over wifi ,weather and toggle widget ,weather pro ,shopsavvy as barcode scanner while shopping ,dish pointer for when i am on grand prix sidecarcross camping and having truble with my satelite reciver to watch tv.
Greats mike
I will end this noooow! Cartoon wars! Its suuuuuuuuuper addictive!! . Please try it.

A few I like
Windup knight
World of Goo
Backstab
Nova 2
Dungeon hunter 2
Hero of Sparta
They are all battery killer though (especially the gameloft games), so take that into consideration when you still have half a day to go before recharge.

My 9th Dawn Android RPG review

Coming from a Diablo , rouge like history of gaming, I have always been into computer versions of those types of games. Huge worlds to explore, a plethora of items to find, secret dungeons and chests spread out everywhere to reward the player that likes to find everything in a world. Until I played and bought 9th Dawn I didn't think I would ever experience that PC EXPERIENCE OF A HUGE WORLD ROUGE TYPE GAME.
While the grafix are simple sprites the fighting is fun. Three typical characters are there for your picking. The knight that can use a wide variety of swords ,axes, spears. The mage that fires spells like an Angry Bird rubber band style. Believe me the Mage and Archers way of shooting projectiles are a blast. The mage can upgrade his staff skills or magic, or both. Higher end staffs can not be exquiped by pure magic mages. The archer can work on upgrading his bow skills (skills are raised with use, think of Oblivion) so he can use a huge variety of bows. Or he can become a mad dagger wielding fool with shield abilities.
Bottom line, if you are into huge world exploration RPGs and high tech graphixmare not your requirement for good gaming.9th. Dawn is your game
87/100
This game is a lot of fun and it's constantly updated.
The only problem I've had with it is that sometimes their updates break the game, but they usually push fixes with a few hours
Try playing back stab its also really good
