yup

With stock rom or gb custom rom, we only stuck with stock kernel or cow kernel isnt? I've tried cow kernel, but i think XXLM8 kernel is better in performance and battery. Cow kernel something have stutter even in ui. If only XXLM8 kernel got smartassv2 and sio scheduler, that would be perfect!
We just cannot simply edit the stock kernel and adding those awesome governors and schedulers right? Need to build from source?

I was curious if the stock cm6 kernel has smartass governor built in it. Also is this the latest kernel source?
can someone please pull the stock kernel and post the.zip. Thanks

best features
you can make a kernel with init.d support by yourself. you can get the full instruction in mikstev's post about droidwall.

all i want is a stable kernel with init.d support..

best is very relative. if you need high performance you sacrifice battery life. if you need a lot of features you sacrifice free memory. if you don't know what you want, my advice stick to stock kernel. or just make little modification like kurotsugi says.
@leodasal2
a lot of custom rom have modified boot.img with stock kernel and init.d. you can use that

it's based on DXKL2
it's ok to install it over stock rom DXLE1
your baseband will be the same= DXLE1 but your
pda and csc will downgrade to DXKL2
Oops my bad Leo is right I just checked it.

Both a2sd and merruk kernel is compatible. You need to the a2sd darktremor.zip for the a2sd to work though.

Smartass v2 uses 2-3 frequencies and decreases/increases freq as per the load. It is the best performance with max power saving gov. It has quite good results in benchmarks in xda. Ondemand and interactivex are some others. Refer these threads, they are quite informative: (first ones enough)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555744

A quote from the 1st thread.
Code:
#3 - The most power saving governor is Ondemand. If you need a high performance governor, use smartassV2, which offers some battery savings.

SAVIE REV 60 V2 FTW! It has a inbuilt CWM too. Performance is very good. A bit harsh on battery but under clocking solves that and it can play angry birds space some what smooth in even 312-432 smartass v2
Btw, I tried all kernels and its the best imo.
Hmm..This would be appropriate in general section rather than in Q & A?

CWM is stable only on custom ROMs (no probs restoring/backuping etc). Stock ROMs backup/restore is bugged up. And you need to mount system everytime you flash any zip(in custom ROMs too). Savie is fixing these and so didnt release it officially. I have the test version along with some of the other testers. But the rest, its completely stable.
Features include swap compatible, ext4 auto mount, init.d support , droidwall support, some battery tweak, 4 freq , 18 gov, 7 i/o , busybox included and many more. PM me or savie for the link as its still a test release

Why you need to change governor?
But try different kernel, like franco.kernel
Should work with it. But the ROM works fine with his own
