ATT framework for modding - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi, I just got my Note II SGH-I317. CWMed, rooted fine with no problems. Tethering out of box doesn't work without disabling ATT checks. I'm using StraightTalk MVNO. I see someone has figured out how to enable it by modding the framework-res.apk on SGS3's, the guide is here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25808002&postcount=114
I suck at decompiling and recompiling APK's though, so if anyone wants to give it a shot, I extracted my framework-res.apk and anyone can check it out. Version is I317UCALJ2.

edit: ok, working on pulling one now, but it's not a great baseline since I've already started inserting and updating apk's. Play with it for now when it gets uploaded, but wait for a more official one soon.
hmm. 900mb. Mediafire wont take more than 200mb for free; any free webhosts or place to upload to for big files?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...=&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

what method did you use to root it?

I used this guide.
http://www.teamandroid.com/2012/09/30/install-clockworkmod-recovery-att-galaxy-note-2-sgh-i317/

I tried to modify my framework-res.apk to enable native tether last night, I don't think I recompiled or signed my apk right. Even just decompiling and then recompiling without any modifications, my APK ended up 5.5mb smaller. Flashed it anyway, wouldn't boot. Restored with nandroid, have to do more reading.

Has anyone had any luck yet with native tether?

[Q] tmobile SGS2 video maker app

I bought the tmobile SGS2 and i discovered that the movie maker app was missing. So, I called Samsung tech support and they told me that it was a carrier choice to have that feature on their specific SGS 2. I wonder why Tmobile chose not to have this feature enabled on the SGS2? Just like i don't understand why the ATT and Sprint versions have the notification lights and their pre-installed apps can be removed but not Tmobile's? I like Tmobile's plan i am on and that is why i don't want to move to Att or Sprint.
I also checked on the android market and no luck there either. I am not interested in rooting the phone and i am wondering if anyone on the forum can guide me in finding and installing this app on my new tmobile SGS2.
thanks

If ur not interested in rooting it's probably not likely to work. I found it by searching Google for it, but it doesn't appear to work on my T-mobile Galaxy S2
But if anyone can get it working, I'd appreciate it

It's missing the odex file and a lib file I downloaded the whole gs2 international system dump last night. I believe the at&t version has this app. Best get the lib and app from a deodex rom from them.

Is there a similar app for video editing on the market that works well? I like the video editing.
Update on this:
I took the Videoeditor.apk posted in here and pushed it to the App folder and the libvideoeditor.so posted in here and pushed it to the LIB folder. Then I changed the permissions to match other apps. The icon showed up in app drawer and it would open but would hang and FC seconds later. Any advice as far as what might be missing?
Here is a logcat of the videoeditor FC:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18421884/screenshot-1322689673783.png
I was asking some Dev buddies about my logcat. They say that the error I recorded means that some LIB files are missing. Could someone help me find what file that is so we can get this thing working

If you had listened to him, and actually "tried" to search for a tut, you would have found one for ICS. I found one sometime ago (don't have link so don't ask) so I will try to make a zip or at least upload the file needed, I'm not home at the moment but if I get it accomplished I will most likely post in the DEV section.

Ok, so I got home and read through the tut again, but I am having trouble on my computer, so I will post link here if anyone is willing to give this a go try, word of advice this is for a different device (att's SGS2) so DONT install any of the files that are there just follow the instructions to edit the framework. If by any chance I get my comp working once again I will attempt this.

[APP] CLOSED MY Verizon for Any Device...

OK Here it is the app you have all been waiting for. My Verizon for any Device, yes any ROM, any Device.
This handy little app will let you pay your bill from anywhere, yes you can fork over your paycheck to big red from the pay day loan store now. No need to wait till you get home, get the loan you needed to pay your bill, load the app up and Voila you now have the funds and the app to boot.
Posted this here since the JB ROM's seem to be having trouble getting a good working version of the My Verizon App, but theoretically this will work with any ROM or Device out there...
Give it a go, this is a MODDED version of a Verizon Built App so there may be bugs. Verizon is good for that.

Not really. If I cared I'd decompile it and the stock version and compare it with beyond compare. I was just curious how you can get out to work on any rom without some of the other files associated with it like libmotricity.so. That's all.

Not to be dic¿ but if you didn't care why ask.
But to answer your question, like many apps that require secure logins, my Verizon is nothing more than a fancy web browser. The screen you see is a web page. Turn off your data connection then load the app, when the page won't load you'll see the web address. The normal my Verizon app just stores your credentials so it can automatically log in, like storing a cookie.
Now how did I make it work, I found a Verizon app that had everything in place already, made some changes to the manifest and renamed the package so it would not auto update from the market.
very simple really once I discovered an app with a loop hole.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
As well as this little app worked, Verizon didnt like it and ordered it to be removed from the play store due to copy write infringement.
The word Verizon can not be printed in an unauthorized way from what I understand. So it was removed.
See this link for more
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840328
The funny part is how ever, this app was nothing more than a web page viewer that used the mobile verizon website as it's home page.
Oh well, lesson learned. Dont use their website with out permission first I guess.

[Request] Port of the "X-Note" ROM built for the international NOTE4

I wanted to request any of the developers for our phone to port over a ROM made by soloilmeglio for the international variant of Note 4. The ROM is called X-Note and can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/rom-x-note-build-1-0-nj4-t2935625.
The developer (soloilmeglio) seems to be well regarded and it looks like the ROM has been crammed with a ton of features. It would be nice if we could get it for our phone also.
You are probably better off contacting the developer and working with him to test and see if he would port it over. Good luck, looks like a great rom.

Yea I suppose if nobody steps up I'll take a shot at it myself. I'm not a developer but I did some research online and various guides teach that you need to replace about 3 folders in the system directory to port a ROM.
I was just hoping that one of the devs would at least acknowledge this thread and take my request into consideration....

To op if it the same principal as the note 2 which it probably is the international version is pretty hard to port att is the easiest.I'm still debating on the note or nexus 6 if I get the note I will help out some.

I read a few people from the T-mobile phone discussing porting in the thread. I had the note 2 before this phone but don't remember such a discussion. Would you mind linking a thread where people talk about difficulties porting an international version ROM?
Thanks

Just wanted to update you that i am working on this. I have it booting and everything is working with a couple of workarounds. I had to import the apn file from our stock rom to get lte and data working right. I am trying to fix the prl and profile update. I also have hangouts crashing whic i am working on. I reached out to the developer of the rom because i want his permission before i post it.

Awesome! Thanks!
I'm actually not going to post it yet. I spoke to the developer and we are going to bring it to sprint hopefully next week. If it doesn't happen I will post what I have so far. Profile and prl update don't work. LTE and data work but you have to bring APN from old ROM. Was never able to send MMS, not sure about receiving.

Wow. Thank you so much. I had given up any hope that a developer would take this up. I was going to take a shot at it myself but I was wary about the kinds of issues you mention and wouldn't have any idea on how to deal with them.

If all you want right now is the Sprint system update then I can do that as long as you have the original dev's permission to port and post it in our Sprint forum. If you already have data working then upload it to AFH or similar an PM me a link. But if im not mistaken, international phones lack a lot (if not all) of the necessary code/files necessary that reside in settings, jars & framework. Ill know right away if i peek inside just one file. If it lacks the necessary code/files then you might as well forget it because it would be like spending $3,000 to replace the transmission in your $500 Hyundai. Not worth it in that case.
I had the port working but data wasn't great. Only had 3g in certain places. APN wouldn't stick if you select LTE. I think it had to do with the profile not updating, so that might fix data. I'm actually getting a new phone this week because of a major lag issue so I stopped working on it. I spoke to the developer. He said he would help but has been unresponsive this week. I can wait till you release your next rim. You did a good job on the stock ROM. I wish I didn't have a hardware issue.

Thanks for trying. Do you think it would be easier to port the t-mobile version of this?
