Viber must support Custom Roms

We (Viber) can guarantee that Viber is fully compatible with phones that we thoroughly tested in our labs. The list of devices we've tested is found in our HelpDesk: http://bit.ly/Hm5k9pWe've tested these devices with their original Stock ROM (one that comes from your factory, with no substantial modifications to the OS itself). This, by the way, is the case of the huge majority of Android phones across the world today - in other words, phones who have been "ROM'ed" are a tiny percent of all Android phones out there.
* And by the way, it's not true that Viber simply "does not work" on Custom ROMs. On the contrary - it actually works with them most of the time. However, sometimes some Custom ROMs collide with *some* feature of Viber, and when this happens unfortunately there is not much we can do to help, since we cannot afford to adapt Viber to all Custom ROMs out there, and all of their versions. This requires development, testing, etc, and we simply don't have these resources. We usually recommend those users to contact the ROM developer for further support - they may be able to resolve this issue.

Hi,
This is a member of the Viber Development Team!
If you are running Viber on a customized ROM, it may result in side effects. At this stage, due to the large variety of customized ROMs available, we support only the basic ones, such as CM7 and MIUI.
Our recommendations to you would be to either uninstall and reinstall Viber , or to find the proper customization which works best with Viber..
If you have any question about Viber - please feel free to ask.
Thank you,
Viber Team

Well, we feel like it's our duty to find out users out there across the Web and provide direct support
About the battery drain issue - please make sure that Viber is the cause for the problem by isolating Viber (having no other apps running) on a device with stock ROM (custom ROMs may cause this problem).
We conduct strict testings in our labs with several devices and other than when making a call (when it is natural for the battery to be used), we did not come across any significant battery drain when Viber was simply running in the background. Furthermore, over the course of over 15 hours, on average the battery use was only 2%.
You can find additional information on tests performed by Viber users themselves, which show similar results, at:

Oh god. I had the worst experience with ageeker's Miui. It was laggy as **** and good god Instagram and Viber were not working at all.
Viber devs have been since January been getting complaints from Miui community. The only thing I can recommend is that you switch to the most stable rom called FishandCrips and get QQLauncher for MIUI design. It is superior to other roms.

This is a Jelly Bean topic, why do you spread news about updates that doesnt work on JB?
Dont let people get exited and afterwards get Disappointed.
I am very disappointed now!!
When do you expect the JB version to be released, is there any betas where i can download it?
@hung77 -
We still wouldn't want to guarantee a specific date (so we don't disappoint our users), but as we said - we are working on it around the clock this very moment.

Good news!
Our new version (2.2.1) with Jelly Bean support is now available on Play Store for your download!
Undoubtedly, the great user anticipation was one of the most major factors that made us speed up the development and testing, and it is now available for all JB users to enjoy. As usual, we would appreciate your feedback and thoughts, and we are here to make sure it works as expected.

He already answered your question, the 4.1.2 weren't ever completed, they were abandoned... hence why the issues in those roms are still present.
Install PACRom 18.2 and then apply the fixes for keyboard etc. I think the fixes are in the litekernel thread. Put on the latest litekernel for 4.1 keyboard fix, lights fix and you'll have the best working 4.1.2.
Note - skype and bluetooth headset still won't work, pretty sure the camera issue with rotation is still present. I ran pacrom 18.2 for MONTHS without any issue except those listed and the wake lag.
I was trying to port something, not use it as a rom.

Skype works for text messages, but received audio in calls is corrupt. The core of the issue is audio playback breaks when an app opens the microphone. (Ironically, the microphone itself actually works fine, i.e. voice recognition has messed up audio cues but it does process what you say correctly.) Current hypothesis is it's a driver issue. Research is ongoing. This is a longstanding issue going all the way back to our very first JB kernels.

This is actually a known problem with Google Now itself, it depends on an instruction set the Tegra 2 doesn't have. The Galaxy R and the Galaxy Note 10.1 have the same problem, on ALL Jellybean ROMs, even official. Bug Google, not us.
There is a workaround: downgrade GNow to a working version (possibly by flashing old gapps), then disable "Hotword detection" in settings. Once that is turned off you can upgrade to the latest and it will still work.
Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the reply but:
1) GPS was not locking for me until I changed the gps.conf file in MOST of the ROMs I've tested.
2) Music didn't work on one rom I tested (now and then the music player started lagging and it automatically stopped every few seconds for a few milliseconds)
3)Thanks for the Skype reply; I was hoping there was some version with this fixed but evidentely not.
4)Camera flips orientation in all the roms I've tested. HDR just worked in 1 of them. Camera actually crashed from time to time in one of them.
5)Oh, sad about the Google Now fact. It's actually one of the main reasons I wanted JB
The skype thing Can't be a hardware issue since I've used skype several times before rooting my device. The issue you are talking about happens on google voice sometimes; therefore I'm guessing you're right on thinking that the problem is on the driver.
I'm very interested in ROM building since I'm an app developer for android and a C++ programmer; yet I've been too lazy to check how it worked. Are the drivers we are using open source? or are we just messing with the conf files trying to get things fixed?

Official CM 12.1 nightlys

Today the first official nightly CM 12.1 build for Xperia ZL went online:
http://get.cm/?device=odin
Many thanks @qsnc who made this possible!
Greetings,
I can not write a message in the forum of the developers because my user is still new,
So if someone can notify the creator,
The ROM is excellent, except a serious problem,
Calls, they are horrible, most of them collapses at some point, in most cases, one party can not hear the other,
I will point out that calls via whatsapp & FB messenger are ok.
I'm using Version 20150923
And of course a lot of thanks to @qsnc for the great work he is doing!
Hopefully the Mobile data in 12.1 is ok. I tried pa and resuremix but i cannot go on Mobile data
Congratulations to the developers

There is a special Q&A-thread for CM12.1, you can post here:

Don't forget to post logs! If you have problems during calls also include modem log. But be careful, midem log can contain personal information like imei.
ok thanks @sturmtruppler

I just saw in cm changelog that there have been many fixes in android telephony on 2015/09/24. you should try the latest nightly, maybe that problem got fixed too.

Hey sturmtruppler,
I'm using Version 20151003
Yet the same awful problem,
How to produce the LOG files?
I checked the Internet, just could not find a simple answer...
After that I will have the LOG files of course I'll post them in the Q&A thread.

There are several ways to get logs, in my opinion an app called syslog is the easiest one. You can find it in the Play Store.
First Snapshotbuild arrived!
