How do i get the activation screen to stop popping up every boot and randomly? I am using the Play as a wifi only gaming device and the activation screen keeps annoying me. Is there something i can delete or freeze in titanium or in the /system folder to stop it?

What is this Update Device drainer?

I wondered why my phone was dying so fast today. I turned on WiFi and it updated something. It didn't do any JB installation or anything. It just updated network services.

I think its telling you to update your software. Go under system updates and click on the bottom one. See if that works.

You may have updated by accident. In " About phone" what version does it say,?
Edit. I just noticed the fonts you have. It may have tried to update, but failed.

So the font could be the cause of it not updating?

No its the with the new update comes a new font so once he saw your old fault he realized you hadn't updated. I would clear your Google services (settings>apps>Google services > clear)
Restart your phone then redo the clear then check for update again

Instagram's Advanced Camera?

Does this work on your phones? I've always used the stock camera on this phone for instagram, but with the new video update I switched over to the instagram advanced camera and it doesn't work. I got on my wife's phone and checked out hers since she didn't upgrade instagram yet and the camera also doesn't work on hers. I have Lifeless v14 on hers right now and I'm currently running Vectus.
I just tried my instagram camera I'm running beanstalk and it doesn't open.

I just downloaded the newest version on my phone, running Stock OTA JB-rooted, nothing else and it seems to work just fine on mine just fyi. Must be something missing in the custom ROMs or they just aren't playing nice together lol.
Doesn't work on Slim Venom rom. I would like to know what other roms would work with Instagram.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
As a temp fix you can go to developer options and disable hw overlays but you'll have to do it every reset. If I remember correctly pimp my ROM has an option to permanently disable it but I'll check Ok that later tonight

I'm now on rootbox, and this method isn't working for me. It does work on my wife's phone, she is using Lifeless.
It opens but it lags and once it pops up I get an error stating "cannot connect to camera" and force closes.
***Edit*** It works perfectly on Spleef's AOKP

[Q] Problems with stock based roms for e980

I have an Lg Optimus G Pro for AT&T (the e980 variant) and it's rooted with the unlocked bootloader. I've flashed several stock based custom roms like cyanogenmod, carbon rom, and cyanofox which are android 4.2.2 and 4.3 roms. But theres one thing that has stopped e from using them: I can't get group messages from iphone users. I get mms's from iphone users a lot and I cannot read them. I don't know why. I need your help! @madmack @Shelnutt2 and whoever else can fix it. Thanks for everything ou guys have already done!
Have same issue. It appears to be an iPhone issue.

Enable OK google everywhere like android L

http://nexus5.wonderhowto.com/how-t...-detection-any-screen-android-kitkat-0155963/
This only works for rooted devices but I can confirm it works on my stock rooted optimus g pro e980. Pretty nice feature.

Google had said they used a special low-power audio chip to listen for the magic words. So if you enable "google now" on a phone without the magic chip built in, assuming it works, isn't that going to kill battery life?
You could do all this to get ok google... or... you could just download open mic+ from playstore and enable ok Google through Google now. Pretty easy.

True but if you don't want a separate app this literally takes 3 minutes. Eventually google now will open up to this and you won't need a third party app. As for battery I have not noticed any difference.

I just did recovery restore today and so happens that Google has this already built in the settings just tap the ok Google hot detection and the retrain settings are there ....or maybe it's my imagination but it worked for me ... Or it's built in the sphinx Rom ...

it works perfectly, but it kills the ability to use the video camera function. you end up with an error that something else is using the audio, and it refuses to record anything

I uninstalled google search and reinstalled only to have the same issues. The always listening feature is still interfering with the video recording process. For some reason my alarm clock is auto snoozing. Third party clock app works though.

the new update is a bit laggy ..
i dont like the camera UI doesnt remember the prvious settings like it was with 4.1.2
battery is good only with wifi n data off i used it to capture pics n video yesterday and i had 40% left after using for hours but with data turned on it drains batter too much
I enabled google everywhere again and tried different camera and it worked with no issues. Seems like the stock apps have something conflicting.
