Installing Stock Applications from a Custom ROM - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey all,
I'm pretty new around here, but I really need help!
I just installed Slimbean based on CM10, but unfortunately it doesn't come with SPlanner and the Accuweather Clock.
I really enjoyed these stock apps on the telus ROM. Is there anyway I could get these back and installed on my custom ROM?
Thanks a lot! Any help would be helpful!

Nope.
Samsung apps tend to rely on the touchwiz framework.

the only app i was thinking to install, was the rogers visual voicemail app??..... also wondering too.
hoping this is not considered hi-jacking.

[REQ] Working Stock Widget & App For CM10

I'm now using sematek's CM10 Unofficial build. The ROM is ultra fast, super stable and eye candy at the same time. However, I miss the stock samsung apps, for specific, the Accuweather and Music player. I've read somewhere that they need TW framework to operate. I have a working TW 5 for CM 10 but not sure if the framework is there already or not. I've tried lots of port for GS2 and have zero success so far.
Sure there would be alternative but I want to stay with sammy stock app for a while cause the money we paid partly went to samsung's dev anyway, right?
To sum up, I need a working package of AccuWeather and Stock music player that actually work on CM10. Maybe a port? Or an extract from Sam's offcial JB? Any?
Haven't seen any so far, probably not possible. But love to have one though

I've been wondering the same thing but I'm CM9 nightly and I don't like the launcher. Where did you get TW5 from? I tried the one with modified grid and as soon as I click install. It says "Application not installed" Is it a framework issue?

[REQ] Replace TouchWIz Themed Apps on ICS

Hi there,
So after playing with vanilla ICS and then getting the ICS Leak for our cappys I've come to hate TW because it takes away from the beauty of ICS.
I found a few guides on how to replace the TW Stock Apks with Vanilla Apks however, due to TW frameworks you can't replace the dialer or contacts.
Is there anyone who would like to help me in fixing this? I've tried several things and none of them have worked thus far. Suggestions?

Can you tell me how you replaced the other TW apps? Also have you tried this?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729466&highlight=ics+dialer

That seems to be a guide to replace dialer on 2.3.5 (which back in black is made on). I think on ICS its not worth even trying, too much dependencies

oh.
I say just install a custom ROM. That's what I did. Running Nardholio's right now but I'll probably switch to dman's CM9 or AOCP once some of the bugs are worked out.

[Q] Differences between Touchwiz, CM10, and stock Jelly Bean

I am a bit new to Android and the GS3. But honestly I am already sick and tired of waiting for Jelly Bean as well as some of the problems of Touchwiz. So I think CM10 is the next thing for me. But I am unsure of the differencr between Touchwiz and CM10. For example I love the quick settings panel, the brilliang camera app and settings, Wi-Fi direct sharing (sbeam) , as well as the smart dialer and decent task manager. I just want to make sure everything will be better.
it's your call. i'd say you should try it out, and if you don't like it, you can always go back to stock touchwiz. just remember to read the op and the last few pages of the thread to make sure there aren't any unwanted problems to deal with. and of course, backup your current rom.

Stock Jelly Bean has been leaked. This will give you all the Jelly Bean goodness without resorting to a custom ROM.
You could also install the touchwiz launcher on CM10 if you like the TouchWiz UI. (I don't)
You can always flash back to stock ICS if you don't like where you end up. Just read the original post and make sure you understand what you're doing so you don't end up with a brick.

So if I tried it and didn't like it, I could just go back to normal and get updates OTA and everything.
Not all S3 are identical. The radio interface are slightly different, region wise. So yes , you can download a Samsung stock ROM off the Internet, it will not be exactly the same. Call and battery performance will be affected slightly.
You can use a backup to restore, it is the closest you can get to original, but rooted.
That it's the complete picture.

Things I like about touchwiz.
Movable home screens.
Little red flags on home screen icon showing unread status.
Social hub for Twitter and Facebook.
A working music player
Swipe right to call, left to SMS
Task manager, less of an issue in ICS and later.
Good alarm app
Best battery performance without tweaking.

yes, but not without some work. you'd need to either restore your backup and unroot, and remove the custom recovery or odin back to stock.

Anything comparing features or anything?
I've been trying to stay on TW as long as I could because of the camera.

Yeah, the camera is brilliant.
Then I recommend Drew Garen Serenity rom! Its Touchwiz JB, its a GNote2 port, works great if you want the same TW features and more! (Gnote stuff), just use a launcher. I'm using tasks AOKP rom myself and its awesome

I've been stuck with AOSP. I love the TW/Samsung features, just not the interface. Coming from a Nexus, I just got comfortable with minimal. Slimbean, Aokp and liquid smooth are great base ROMs that are light.

The whole thing with that is I don't particularly care for Touchwiz. It kinda ugly and heavy with useless stuff. I just don't want to lose useful features.

yea im in the same position you are, i still change back and fourth because of features on TW that i miss and need often.
I am considering just flashing and trying it out and flashing back if I don't like it. I honestly don't mind Touchwiz, but I feel like if I give in and and wait, then I will just keep falling further behind. Perhaps Touchwiz is better now, but it certainly won't be in January
Touch wiz has too much overlay IMO. Liquid smooth is one of the best AOKP ROMs I've tried. But you will be missing out on Sbeam and everything Samsung related of course. But the sheer speed of aokp is a good enough trade off for me to lose just the neat camera and svoice.
I am using AOKP from Task and ktoonez, I love it but really miss smart stay and allshare cast to the point where I'll probably go back to TW JB once ATT actually releases it. Is there a JB ROM that includes those?
Hey guys,
Is there anyway to get the TouchWiz S3 camera features with one of the custom roms or just stick to a stock?
My brother loves the AOKP but he is insistent on having those default camera features/effects that came with the phone.

Looking for a ROM

Hi all,
Not long got ago I got my Note 2 and am currently running ProBam, but I miss the Samsung handwriting recognition and S-Note apps. I know there are alternatives but they're not as tidy.
ParanoidAndroid DPI switching is also a big thing for me, I like various apps being various sizes etc.
Are there any 4.1.2 ROMs with Samsung Framework with PA mixed in?
Cheers
Well there are ROMs but they mostly use App Setting App through Xposed installer. It's the closest thing to PA. Speaking of Touchwiz based ROMs I would highly recommend Moon ROM V10.

There's no Tw rom available with PA implemented instead they have xposed app settings installed..PA is exclusively an AOSP rom..I too love PA but believe me xposed is better than PA's hybrid setting(except GUI)
If u want all TW goodies better stick with tw roms only and no there's no app for AOSP with snote similarity..snote needs tw framework
There are many alternatives to snote for aosp rom like-papyrus, handnote and many more..

[Q] Samsung apps apks?

Anyone have working apks?... I found a few but none will install. "App not installed" crap.
I'm on the latest cm11 nightly. Just need all the original samsung apps/account that came with the stock ROM. Please.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
That's not possible. They require touchwiz framework and can't run on AOSP based ROMs like CM. If you can't live without them, you have to run a Samsung based ROM.
TW you say?... Well, in that case... I'll definitely be living without them. Thanks.
