[q] default wallpaper location - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Where is the default wallpaper location on the T989? I have downloaded some nice wallpapers, but I want to know how to add them to the phone so they can be selected from the wallpaper menu.

you can add them to the "pictures" or "downloads" folder or make a new subfolder titled "wallpaper" under "pictures" if you want

OK thanks.
I thought there was something you had to edit in system/framework/

I don't know how to add them to the "wallpaper chooser" but functionally it's easy to add them from a downloads or pics folder.

To add to the wallpaper chooser, you have to go to system/app take the wallpaper apk out (this could vary depending on the ROM) and open it with zip or extract with an apk manager. Then switch the jpg's out with your own.

Can you add or remove wallpapers form the wallpaper list?

I was just wondering.
After doing some work on my phone, (10 hours of work), I was if you could remove the wallpapers from the list or add new ones.
Is there any way?
Thanks!

download 'wallpaper set and save' from the market. probably the easiest way to organise your wallpaper images

Wallpaper Rotator from market...
Works flawlessly and you can specify the interval to change wallpapers and the directory on your SD card where the pics reside

[Q] Transfering wallpapers between roms

I have run countless roms and like select wallpapers from each individual rom. My question is can I take a wallpaper from say Azrael rom and load them onto a sprint lovers rom? I've tried putting them on my sdcard, renamed them accordingly, then moved to system/customize/resource, via root explorer, but they don't show up in my wallpaper selection. Could this be because it will only display x amount? Note I've moved htc_wallpaper_x.jpg as well as htc_wallpaper_small_x.jpg to the folder. I know there are other ways to set the wallpaper but where's the fun and challenge in that?
Maybe things have changed but all I do is copy the jpg to my sd card into a folder called wallpaper. Then press menu-wallpaper-gallery. Select the wallpaper folder and then choose my wallpaper.
Does that not work for you ?

Agreed, but I'd like to have the option to go to menu>wallpaper>HTC wallpapers, and be able to see them previewed along the slider bar. See what I'm saying?
SOLVED
Played with zipped rom and swapped out some files, so far so good.

Wallpapers - Where Are They Stored?

Just a quick question, does anyone know where the default wallpapers are stored?
I ran a quick search and serched manually but couldn't find them. I'd just like to add a couple more to keep my SD Card folder a bit tidy.
Thanks
? you can put custom wallpapers anywhere on your phone, it'll become recognized in the gallery app.
I'm not sure about ICS but for previous versions of android they are in the launcher2.apk

Yep they're in there. Launcher2.apk\res\drawable-xhdpi\wallpaper_name.jpg
Hmm, that's a shame.
Although could I replace that APK with another one with a few more added? The reason being, is I want to have some wallpapers in the phone, that will show up when I go to change a wallpaper but which will not appear in my gallery.
you can make a wallpaper folder, put a .nomedia file in it and then use a filebrowser app to set your wallpaper. not the easiest thing to do but it'll work.
additionally you can download a custom gallery like quickpic that lets you hide folders.

accuweather transparent widget

Does anybody have the transparent widget that works with the ics update. I miss that... The blue color widget is horrible but the functionality is cool

here is the .apk for the semi-transparent weather widget. It's made to match the digital clock. i been using this with the stock rooted ics rom. i would show a screenshot but the i'm having trouble capturing a screenshot on a stock rom. amazing how i took that feature for granted when i had the option available in the advanced power menu in other roms.
just make sure to set the permissions to rw-,r--,r--
Almost forgot... this might go without saying for some.. but this gotta be pushed using root explorer. Don't try to install normally
my first ever custom apk... hope it works out for all
Would you happen to have the calendar version in semi-transparent ?

what i did was use root uninstaller app to remove the older one. there are 2 accuweather apps remove the one that is bigger in size. then use root explorer to drop the app in the system/app folder. reboot your phone and the app should be installed perfectly.
now simply add the new widget.:good:

Homescreen icon location

Clould anyone point me to the location of the icons for the home screen are please? I'm using IconFinder to make me a custom homescreen but it's a hasle to have to store them into Gallery and then crop... would me much easier if they would just pop up with the theme icons.
Thanks

Others, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but they are built in to an apk, so you would have to extract the apk, change the icons, and then reconsruct the apk.

I believe you're right. It's been a while since I've decompiled a launcher. In any event, if anyone does need to decompile and recompile an .apk I would recommend elesbb's APK Tool GUI. Makes the whole job very easy. Once you have all of your icon images you should be able to drag and drop them into their appropriate folders and recompile.
Thank you for the replies! I was hopping to be an easy-breeze doing but I guess not... I will try the tool you recommended: ) Wish me luck
