Multiscreen update COMING SOON - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

According to gotta be mobile an update for the American version of the note 2 IS going to be ready soon and shortly after that pushed out to Carriers for OTA release
multiscreen IS part of this update, so it appears we should have it in several weeks!
heres the article itself check it out

Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2

The article is about the original Note. The only place I see the Note 2 mentioned is in the title.

A few weeks so it coincides with the Verizon release, roughly, huh? This is excellent news!
Oh wait..this update is for the original Note. Still, makes me hopeful. Maybe if they push it out for the s3 and OG Note around that time..we will get it too.

I don't see why they had to omit the feature in the first place. Like theres a processor difference or something. Glad to see it coming, but it should have been there in the first place.

Hop some one can in port a international version soon or. Or can cm10
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium

It's not so much it was omitted on purpose, but that Samsung has to work with the carriers so they can add their bloatware. This most likely caused Samsung to send an earlier version of the Touchwiz'd Android so that the carriers have enough time to put in their software and tweaks and still release the phones in a timely fashion. The US variants were already released a month after the international version. We probably wouldn't have the US Note II for T-Mobile today had Samsung taken more time to get multi-window working before submitting the software to the carriers to do their thing.

That's the most logical explanation I've read thanks, so are you confident that when it is enabled for AT&T I'm hearing soon that T-Mobile will not be left behind?
I also heard that Wi-Fi will be improved along with adding the spit-screen multi-tasking multi-view, does that suggest the Wi-Fi is currently unreliable?
Also what ever happened to Samsung Galaxy Note II Screen Recorder function?
I'd like to stop having to seriously consider the international models..Thnx

Yea I know hopefully well see something soon. I think we will get it when they update all the gs3 and note 2 to 4.2. I jist dont see them doing any extra work to compile 2 updates for us. I think theyll just put it in with the 4.2 update thats slated for quarter 1 of 2013

spoke to my tmobile shop a few times on this When igot my note2 and they all believed (strangely both confidently and honestly) the update will be on the 15th. Dunno how useful that is but they seemed sure of it

This was being discussed in another thread and someone pointed out that it's probably something like Wi-Fi calling which is making it take longer than the Sprint update.

Here's a teaser for u guys!! hehe

Well, Wi-Fi calling is an nice feature. It is important that they get it right.

If Sprint is releasing it already & AT&T & Verizon are expected to have it by Nov 27th, what is the likelihood that T-Mobile will not have it this month?

I think itll be bundled with the 4.2. Update. But its not exactly killing me to wait for it. This phone is a beast and its the phone ive always been looking for. I think itll be a while before we get it though

Isnt 4.2 being released with the nexus 4? If so we won't see it I bet for 2-4 months, if not later.

Why would you think that when every other major carrier is likely getting it this month like the international Note2 has on 4.1 (before a 4.2 update that could take months for any US Note2)?
Could we get T-Mobile to comment on being competitive on this considering Sprint is releasing it already & AT&T & Verizon are expected to have it by Nov 27th?

[Q] How to enable multi window on T-Mobile Galaxy note2?

I just bought the galaxy note 2 from T-Mobile but I can't figure out how to get the multi window.
I found somewhere that I need to do a software upgrade, but it's telling me there are no upgrades available...
Anybody know how to get the multi window working ? I really wanted this feature and I'm so angry it's not working! :crying:
You probably have wait for the update like the international versions did. I remember there being a slide tab on the left that included the apps that could run in multi-screen.

I have the Sprint version of the Note 2 and doing this does not open the multiview options. It looks to be disabled.
firmware update?
I got the T-Mobile version yesterday. I've been trying the multi-view feature but it does not work. Snooped around the web and it looks like it needs a firmware update. Some said you can updated it thru samsung's Kies software. Tried it but it says my device is not support.
Anyone have any luck?

Check out this response I got from Samsung this morning. It is baffling. A simple "USA version will get an OTA very soon" would have been fine. This response is just stupid being that they advertised the feature on their website, videos, etc.
"We are unable to speculate when/if this software upgrades revision might be available for Samsung Galaxy Note II due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information and confusion.

I think that's better than them not even knowing the phone features. I was chatting with a rep for over an hour and I had to explain to him what multi window was and still did not understand.
Looks like Samsung is doing the same BS HTC dose. If the feature isn't released by nov 24 im gonna make a support petition and take Samsung to small claims court and get every penny I paid back. How can they market the phone with the ability then say they are unaware if the device will support it. My neighbor took att to small claims court and won. So I wont think twice to file one against samsung. Thats the feature that sold me to this phone. Well the lie that sold me to this phone. I simply wont stand for this sh1t I want wtf I paid for. When will the multi-view update be available?

Has a date be announced? Why does t mobile have to lag behind on things like these, other carriers have it. Is there a way to get it currently without rooting? Also, is this 4.1.2 or 4
2? Which comes with photosphere? Sorry for all tue questions, just can't wait to show off to friends with iphones.

Were all excited, some may flame you for not searching but we all need to learn from somewhere right? Our updates always take a while. You have to think, first google releases firmware ie 4.1 then samsung has to mess with it and then the carrier. Since this is a samsung feature, were only waiting between samsung and tmobile. Of course nothing comes out flawless the first time ( just look at the issues nexus is having with 4.2 ) were currently on 4.1.1. Next will b 4.1.2 im hoping for the release. To be this week since verizon will have multiwindow out of the box. We shall see : )

Don't have so high expectations. I have had this feature a month or so now and have found that the only time I want to use it is when I'm using an incompatible application. I have researched rooting but it seems i then have to live without the s-pen, and tha's not going to happen.

I think you need to do some more research. Rooting will not make you lose s-pen capabilities. There are some sprint version roms with the multi Window hack that work just fine, the only ability you will lose is wifi calling

If you do it right you can get root w/ multi-window enabled, hacked for all apps, and wifi calling.
Need to install XquiziT v4, set up wifi calling. Then install XquiziT v6 without wiping. You'll have everything.
To other guy: only way you lose S-Pen is to get AOSP ROM which does not exist for 7105 variants (t-mobile, at&t, sprint, 7105, verizon) and even then some have S-pen tricks.
I tweeted tmobile help last night about the update and they had no official statement about that, so I wouldnt expect it for at least the next month. There's been a RUMOR (it's just a rumor, so dpnt take it as a fact like some have done around here) that tmobile probably wants to wait til LTE so they can do 1 update once and for all

That is not correct.
You don't lose your S pen features just because you rooted. The Buddy feature works only work with TouchWiz. But you can chose to be on TouchWiz while rooted. All other S pen features work with other Launchers rather rooted or not. Each ROM has its own limitations. So you have to look at each ROM for its limitations. But while rooted on Stock ROM you will have S pen features.
When we actually get Multi-window feature then we can use a hack from the Galaxy Note 2 forum to add most other apps to that feature. Hopefully with no issues. Which I don't see any issues coming of this hack.
Which version of Galaxy Note 2 do you have, that you have the Multi-window feature you say you have, and yet not be rooted? Are you on Sprint version? Are you using an International version?

So I would think that the areas that metro has lte would be the first areas to get tmobile lte. I could totaly be wrong I am only guessing here. As far as the update I would not expect them to wait to combine all three things. When the t989 got ICS we got a maitenance update a few weeks before so I dont think they will be worried about that. I am sure it will be available on kies soon hopfully not much m ore than a month then OTA soon after. The one thing is that this phone came with a widget to check for ota software updates that makes me think they planned on relesing a update soon but that could be wrong too.

If you click back through to the source of the story, they only list the international models, not the carrier specific models. There is no way to know if Sprint will actually make a release of anything. Based on the device being released just last fall, I'd expect more updates, but I'm never assuming anything until a release has a Sprint model number or RDFs start leaking out.

Probably the last major updates these two devices get but I can see it coming. After all it seems like trying to stay up with updates is what Samsung has been aiming for the past few years. Hence why we are last. And will always be LAST. Even Canada has pushed it out and Sprint has not. We only make up so many users on Xda. Most users do not even know what sextape is lol. So that's why we are saying we are last... Because we ARE!

II see your point but I was comparing Sprint to other Us carriers. When it comes to international updates we are far behind unless you have an IPhone. Either way Sprint is getting better when compared to other us carriers.
Agreed. Sprint has gotten better as far as in the US. And like we have mentioned.. We have sextape lol. I've had jelly bean on my e4gt since November of last year. Who the hell knows when it will actually get pushed now with the talk from Sammy about 4.2. But leak they should so for us it really doesn't matter.

Whee Does The Samsung Galaxy SIV Come Out?

I was wondering when the Samsung Galaxy SIV comes out. I looked it up and I get several different answers from different sites and Idk if any of them are right or wrong.

Looking to be sometime this spring.....

Alright thank you! Its really annoying getting all these different release dates because you never know which ones to trust considering they are all rumored.

At&t is doing preorders starting April 16th with no confirmed release date. T-Mobile says May 1st is the release date for them. And Sprint has said nothing although I think it past through the FCC today which means around the May I would think. A regional manager from a Sprint corporate store told me July but I've rarely come across anyone that works at any carrier that usually knows what they are talking about.

early may --> early june. I'm going to wait for the hype to die down before I get mine. I'll probably wait a month or two after it comes out so they can get all the bugs/hardware flaws worked out. Side by side, the S3 and S4 probably will have no visual differences in speed. Unless you are using your phone to run high end games/apps....I dont see the point of buying the s4. 4 processors are nice...but under normal circumstances your phone never really uses more than two cores for basic use.
Sprint is saying the HTC One is dropping on April 19, so Id say Samsung will try to get as close to that date as possible

The second quarter just started and ends June 30th. Also that's if everything goes exactly to plan, no delays and what not. I'm thinking May though, it could easily be June.

I say SG3 Will get this sometime next year that's how AT&T Does, sorry but it's the truth!
Heh, I remember the S2 was supposed to get 4.1 last October, then it was November, then definitely in December, then it was definitely definitely March. It finally came in April.

I think that once t-Moville gets their update, then we will start seeing it getting ported over to AT&T since the two ROMs are nearly the same..... Fingers crossed.

If the 4.1.2.update is any indicator, my guess would be summer 2014.
These announcements are ALWAYS for the international version...it takes the US carriers months to put out their updates from there. International versions do not have as much restrictions as in the US and the carriers here reserve the right to control updates. And AT&T is notoriously last in those carriers.

I agree, but by the time AT&T rolls out 4.3 i'll probably be looking at the S5 in a metal body hopefully!

Did you come here just to make fun of us AT&T guys?
Sadly, you are correct. Like I said...summer 2014.
Not at all friend. Ive been with At&t for 5 years. Im grandfathered in with the unlimited data plan so ive been reluctant to leave
Here's to a revolutionary S5 in the works (hopefully)!

The 4.3 release for the S3/S4/N2 is pretty tied up to the release of the Galaxy Gear "smart" watch.
Event though the Gear will probably not sell like hot cakes, I'm pretty sure carriers will want their share of the pie sooner than later. Because of this, I'll hold on to my pink glasses and expect the update to be made available by the holidays.
I would also expect Samsung to put some pressure on the carriers to do so...

Not at all...in a way I am right here with you. They gave me an AT&T S3 to use for my job. Of course it is rooted but still on 4.1.1. But it opened my eyes to your plight.
At&t is always noted for their delay in releasing update...I wonder why...God help us all..
i've been with at&t for years and it's horrible. Thank goodness for XDA!
I'm still on 4.1.1 official w/ CF Auto Root. I keep checking, but it always (phone & Kies) tells me I have the latest version.... HOW do you get 4.1.2 officially?

You might want to check the AT&T Wireless website and make sure it has your phone listed. Maybe even call AT&T and make sure they have the proper IMEI in their system.
