WTF TMO ?

Come on,....First the Sprint S3 gets JB weeks (months?) before TMo, now the TMo N2 has been out much longer than the Sprint version, and they get an update first.
*sigh*

Doubt "one day later" is really "been out much longer than", but yeah I wanna ***** and whine, too. I was hoping since the Intl. version had been out "much longer than" the TMO version, that we'd get the latest and greatest firmware with it included. Major let down on that front, but the phone kicks ass regardless. At least, this is good news, because it means our phones won't take much longer to get updated...hopefully!
You could also complain "everyone else sells accessories for the Note 2 except TMO" which is irritating, by the way (I've done my own *****ing and whining about that, too)
Summary: "Well, it's not for us; not yet. But can't be far now..."

Those who wait get good things..doesn't matter of your first or last!

No you do t have to make a new page. They have a page where you go on THEIR support google plus page and post requests and comments and withon a couple minutes they post back a reply. I did it a couple days ago with a couple other guys and later that night we got our factory image. The worst that can happen is we waste our time and they just dont do anything. But hey the squeaky wheel gets the grease

Android 4.2

I'm making this thread to see if people think we will get the new Android 4.2 on the sprint S3. I hope we do. I know we just got 4.1 but with all this talk about 4.2 I am already getting anxious. Lol

It'll happen, but it'll definitely be on AOSP first before you see it on tw roms. AOSP already has 4.1.2, like AOKP roms.

Its only required to get updates for 18 months after launch date. Considering sprints track record, we'll probably get an update right before that 18 month period and that'll be it. They did surprise me with this update however. Very timely and first of the US carriers. Hopefully they keep this kind of support up.

Considering that 4.2 is just an update to jelly bean and not the next version (key lime pie or whatever they end up calling it), I think we will get an official update. Sprint seemed to get some good PR out of being the first to release JB, so hopefully they'll continue the practice.

Any news on Multi-Windows update for Canadian i317m?

As usual, and with much envy, us Canadians are way behind the rest of the universe in receiving updated firmware.
Has anyone heard rumors as to when the Multi-Window update will hit Rogers or any of the other Canadian operators, now that AT&T (which I believe has some affiliation with Rogers) has rolled out it's update? Or is it time to take the plunge and install a custom room (clean/jedi)

Yes, I agree about the disheartening part. They won't even tell us about their strides to get Multi-Window. I was watching YouTube videos before and they really sold me to the Note 2 on the Multi-Window. This phone is awesome, and it's a shame that we won't be able to get multi-window yet. AT and T already has it.
I'm not about to root this phone yet. I don't feel I should. It works perfectly now and there always seems to be a solitary problem after rooting.
Ill give you one reason to root so you can use directory bind. 16gb doesnt go far and not being able we to move apps to a 32 sd is enough reason. Whats the big deal about rooting.....

You are right, but I did root my Galaxy SII in the past, because of battery life. It fixed the battery life, but my WiFi and Data went wonky all the time after. There are no problems with this phone except missing Multi-window. That's why. I hear you though. If you've already rooted your phone, kudos to you.

I'm using Note-Orious Prime ROM. I kept my Note 2 stock for about 2 days then rooted and flashed this ROM. Funny thing is I had no clue about the multi window function of the Note 2 until I saw a commercial after flashing.
I suggest this ROM if someone is looking for a stable close to stock one that also has multi-window and functioning Samsung S-Pen apps. Everything seems to be functioning. Glad I took this approach after reading this thread and knowing how the combiation of Samsung and Canadian carriers tends to leave customers "in limbo''

Right now only AOSP based Roms are on 4.2.2 for our phone. Some people like Touchwiz Roms better. You don't have to unroot. When OTA drops you can just flash a rooted version of the OTA update or other OTA based TW Roms when they update.

Is your Samsung contact actually from Samsung or just a 3rd party marketing partner like MarketStar or Marketsource?
MarketStar and Marketsource folks don't know squat.

And like someone said, Sprint is getting better with updates, probably the best from the 4 major companies.

No he's an actual samsung mobile rep lol he comes into my stores to check my Samsung displays and while he's there he always tells me what's on tap for the future.

These samsung reps that travel from store to store know what they are talking about. I've gotten early ota's from them in the past.

Should prove to be interesting.
sent via my anthrax infected phone.

Looks like no 4.2.2 for a while.

I guess anyone that had high hopes we were getting it soon should reconsider lowering their hopes. And to top it off we don't know how long Sprint will take once it is out so it might be a even a longer wait! :banghead:

Cool. But not everybody is a flashaholic and wants to install custom roms every minute to see what works and what doesn't or what's better on battery. I don't flash roms and haven't done so since the OG Epic with the keyboard.. I don't find it necessary as it was years ago. I like stock rooted and being able to take OTA updates.

Well they said postponed. I'm not sure but the note 3 will be out what Oct or Nov? I doubt it will take that long. Hope so anyway.

So we're getting the new TW with 4.22 down the line?
Sent from my SPH-L900
Yep
I think IMO we might see it in about a month or two. At least I hope Sprint is real good about putting out the updates and from what I heard at work they are working on it for the Note 2 and the S3

Sprint and samsung do a very good job with phone updates imo. It could always be worse, remember the g2x situation lol.
Sent from my note 2 ya bish!

i might be new to this site, but i'm not new to these devices and I agree...no flashaholic here. Its pointless to keep going around and round the rom tree when something new is going to come out next year and i'll be switiching my device again.

2013? Hmmmm.

I love my Note 2, but this is why my next phone will likely be a Nexus. For a lot of people, having the most up to date OS is not that important, but I like have the latest and greatest. I do like to flash ROMs and do so often, but sometimes I don't want to have to do that.

maybe when they have a nexus with a 5.5 inch screen.
Incremental updates are overrated and IMO I feel I ain't missing much now.. If so Ill just flash an aosp rom with 4.2.2. to satisfy the feeling of being left out.

That's why I only buy Asus tablets!! They are a superb manufacturer at releasing updates! It's been on my Asus Infinity for a while now!!
