JB Green Light - Droid RAZR M General

http://androidcommunity.com/droid-r...ly-bean-update-gets-the-green-light-20121109/
Today Motorola has confirmed the Jelly Bean update for their popular 4.3-inch edge-to-edge screen packing DROID RAZR M is finally ready, and has been given the green light. While the update hasn’t been confirmed yet by Verizon support, Motorola is seeding it to test units as we speak. Hopefully if all goes well the mass public will be enjoying Android 4.1 JB, Google Now, enhanced notifications and more all within the next week or two.

Ice Cream Sandwich Spotted on SGSII

Great news! We can only hope our neglected E4GT gets some ICS love soon too.
EDIT: Apparently it's been said this is just an ICS launcher...
Still some pretty cool mods though hey! I wouldn't mind the fast switch program he had. Its the same one I got on my galaxy tab 10.1 ICS will get here eventually amd when it does I hope it changes the android expereince with lots of eye candy and fun features. Hope it really takes advantage of our 1gig ram and fast internal storage and is coded specificly for duel core cpu's. How sweet would thay be !
Our phone is neglected? It's been out for a month. Hardly time to consider it neglected.

I think they are talking in general the SGS2 has been out for a few months now it's just new for the US market.
there is a ICS launcher that looks just like that and the status bar is wrong i think its the launcher with a themed bar
I could not careless about the ICS Sprint would push to us. I want the ICS that the devs bring us.

No, I mean our phone!
Figgen AT&T version already has Cyanogen mod!
I can only hope that ICS performs as well as the video shows.
Definitely a cool mod though!
When ICS does come out, will this end up for sure on our E4GT?

Google WANTS Ice Cream Sandwich
It was my understanding that Google wants as many devices as possible to be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich as soon as possible to push developers in to moving their current applications to this platform and that Google basically wants previous versions including Honey Comb to go the way of the Dodo or the Dinosaur. So this could mean that we would see an upgrade fairly quickly for our devices so as to reduce fragmentation.

Yes, sadly the CDMA and WiMax radios add a few hurdles.
Someone posted this on engadget as an idication that the epic touch 4g would get ICS. Frankly I'm not sure how they determined that from the link.

All that tells us it they're working on an update (which we already knew, since they have known bugs they're trying to resolve), and it's full of placeholder text. The only version is mentions is 2.3.3, and we're on 2.3.4. So clearly not an indication of any actually useful information.

Thanks - I couldn't figure out why they thought that link had anything to do with ICS.
Of course if they really wanted a shock and awe campaign tomorrow, just imagine if the top 10 Android devices all got an update to ICS tomorrow
I would rather have to wait a bit for good ROMs than have everything the first week so we don't have to listen to the "Where's the Jelly Bean update " talk. My phone is perfect and will only get better. Its not like every CM7 nightly is perfect. It takes a lot of nightlies to get a stable release. I have been flashing all of the Nexus releases....last nights was great though...patience people

A100 ICS Update News

Hi Everyone,
I was just on the phone with Acer Support to replace a broken charger (The tip of my current charger just sort of fell off once night, and I had to pull it out of the charging port using a small pin) and asked about ICS update.
The fellow mentioned that ICS should be out in Canada for May 3rd of this year. Sounds pretty reasonable? I think I'll stick to the official firmware for the meantime...

Just off the phone with ACER
Just got off the phone with ACER. Asked about the update for the A100. I asked when is it scheduled to come out, and have you an exact date on the OTA Update? I was told No. The customer service person was very Rude i might add. Also, i then followed up with, well your press release states it would roll out in mid April sometime, is that still the case? The response i received was Yes, well Maybe... Maybe I said, he said it may be in May sometime or it may be in April. He would not give any more information on this. Anyway, figured I would let the owners of the A100 know that we still are likely not to get this in April, given ACER`s track record for pushing back their release dates on previous tablets and updates.
Why do people think the zombie tech support people know when things are coming out or much anything else besides what is given to them in scripts to read off to customers -_-
ICS will come out when it comes out the leaks despite gaming bugs are great. Atleast we have leaked firmware the one phone I have (Sidekick 4g) ended up being a samsung shunned child that never saw the light of day getting official gingerbread let alone ics :c

Acer has posted some FAQs about when to expect the ICS update for their tablet models, which was why I was asking. Of course I was dealing with a different issue and the CS had the option to say "sorry sir, we don't have that information". Nexus, ICS, JB

Anyone else a little upset by this "unfair" model?
If you buy a Nexus today it comes with Jelly Bean.
If you've bought the Nexus from the Play Store, even a week ago, you won't get it for about two more weeks.
I understand it's only a two week wait, but if the update is available and shipping (and you gave it to attendees at Google IO) why not make it available for everyone especially on the official "Google Phone?"
Anyone else a bit confused by this?
not really, root, install jb, be happy - is what most others have chosen instead of their rants

I think the only ones being updated to JB, OTA anyways, is the ones handed out at the conference. The product page for the Nexus still says - "Ships with Android 4.0". And the current build they are receiving is only a "Preview" build, probably not stable enough for public consumption.
The people getting JB now are getting a test build that isn't fully completed and is only for people who went to the I/O conference. Go buy a ticket next year and enjoy the goodies, otherwise wait for 2 freaking weeks.
in a but confused, where does it state if I buy a phone today when it gets her in two days that it will have jb on it?

What's the point in having Jelly Bean so fast anyway? Other than the hype.
I flashed the Jelly Bean ROM.... used it for 30 minutes and then went back to CM9 for features.
Not to mention there are A LOT OF APPS with no support for Jelly Bean. Meaning app functionality will not work and force close.
There is absolutely no reasoning for be rushing for this. The OTA link was a leak anyways, it was never fully released by Google.

It's a stock ROM, people don't flash it for the features, first off.
Second, what apps were you having issues with, so far only TiBu and Apex are the only ones not working for me.
Third, the reason for rushing is so that everyone can go to their favorite hang out spot and brag to all their friends that they have JB.
It was a leak, but the leak allows us full access to something that has not been officially released which always makes us nerds scream like school girls.

New Galaxy Nexus

So I ordered a galaxy nexus the first day of I/O after the price drop and the announcement they would ship with Jellybean. I got mine an hour ago and surprise it has 4.0.4. with no update available. WTF. So I try multiple times to call google support and it hangs up on me every time. Just thought I would let you guys know, it may not actually come with JB. I'm pissed off right now.
From what I've seen and read, they announced it to be the first phone to have jellybean. I didn't see any indication that it would ship with 4.1 Only the freebie phones were expected to have JB preinstalled
Just flash the new build or wait a few days for the OTA to come in.

They never said it would ship with JB. The Nexus 7 ships with JB and the participants to the conference received units that would update to a "preview" build of JB. Again, they never said the Galaxy Nexus was going to ship with JB at this time. They also clearly stated that they would be updated OTA in mid-July.
its not supposed to come with Jellybean officially until mid july. where did Google say it will be shipped with JB?
Maybe I dreamed I heard that but they sure do make it look like it does if you look at the product page.

Its a developer version and not the final product. I would advise doing that unless you want to hold his hand on maintaining his device when it comes to flashing.
I rather keep another person's phone stock.

Thanks but we're both experienced with the end-to-end process and have done it many times. I was just saying that as a "surprise" for him I would have it done already since I know that's the first thing he would do anyway.
But yes... in general I would agree. I wouldn't do this for a regular user who doesn't care about unlock/root/etc.

And you want to waste Google's phone support time with this too? WOW.
JUST.
FREAKING.
WOW.
I was going to get the S3 for my wife, but considering the lower price of GN (by $200) and minor differences in features and functions that would not mean much to my wife, I have decided to get this phone instead. The prospect of putting the new Jelly Bean OS really did tip the balance for my decision, though. I like that buttery smooth operation of Jelly Bean. I'll probably put the custom ROM on hers before giving it to her. I don't think providing customer service for her would be a problem for me~
My advice, patiance. Let's just hope they keep providing the URL's. So we can download and manually flash the rom.

I love that we are getting JB now just after a couple months the rest of the world started getting ICS.
In 2-3 weeks there will be released versions of JB. It seems like a pretty short wait for the official version. If you are running stock, I don't think it is worth putting the hacked version on your phone unless you know what you are doing.

To root or not to root?

So I got my LGOG about a week ago, what do you guys think, is it worth it to root it yet? Or should I wait for some AOSP Roms and the Root/Recovery process to stabilize?
I rooted the day it came out. Unlocked as soon as it became available. Lovin it ever since. I've had no issues whatsoever. TWRP works great. As far as stabilized, I think its as good as it'll get for a while. The Dev's will need some time to work on this new phone.
From a different perspective, I'm waiting to see the official Jelly Bean update from LG, as this will likely break the current root process. I just really like the stock ROM. There are some improvements I'd love to see someone make, of course, like changing the color scheme and other UI tweaks. But, for the most part, I'm happy with stock while I wait for Jelly Bean.

Call me really cautious I've held off getting the LGOG watching for Jelly Bean or an AOSP rom. IF HOWEVER I had scored one of those black Friday bargain prices on the phone I'd have jumped on it, rooted and unlocked it straight away knowing this works with the current phone software version. You can always go back to stock if LG Jelly Bean becomes available before the community comes up with something you like. My two cents.

Once I get the OG and the Jelly Bean update rolls out I just plan to root once one's available. I'l wait a few months before installing a ROM, by that time the major bugs should be worked out. I can't wait to see AOSP and CM on it!
