Allshare cast hub. Anyone get it working? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

There's one of these threads in every carrier specific Note 2 forum. I've looked at all the other ones and followed the instructions to a T. Anyone get this working?

Yep just gave it a try all is good.
Hopefully someone can figure out how to make it work on rooted device with custom flashed rom.
App reads flash count before starting , if flash value reads 1 Allshare becomes Noshare

You got it working? Man, I seriously tried for an hour to get it working. I must be doing something wrong =/

Yep.
Try it again but this time select help tab on allshare screen follow directions to the T.
Oh and also make sure wifi on device is disabled before getting started.

Turned the wifi off and it actually worked! Thanks sling!

No problem.
With Sprints version there was no need to turn off wifi first so I'm thinking its a bug that Samsung needs to address on are build.
When connected and you try youtube - anything data related a pop up will display letting you know wifi will be enabled allshare needs to restart.
Let it do its thing connection will re-establish .

Wow, this thing really does not work well. Wifi turns on by itself randomly and when it's on, i can't reconnect.

Ha I figured it out.
Simply Start Allshare app using pulldown Toggle.
Doing it that way will allow for app start when wifis already enabled no more crash will be had

Hmm it works intermittently for me. Hopefully the next software update will change that

Hmm I was never able to get it to work. Not with my note2 or s3. I'm starting to think maybe I have a bad dongle.
One question when you press the reset button on the dongle and the indicator light turns blue does it stay blue or does it turn back to red pretty quickly?

[Q] Wi-Fi Goes to sleep. Policy: Never. Any way to fix it?

*Edit* Wi-Fi sleep policy is set to never.
It seems like the Wi-Fi goes to "sleep" on the DHD. I installed VLC Remote a little while ago, and after 1-2 minutes the controller will not work. I had to quit the app and reconnect for it to work.
I did a test by pinging the DHD from my computer while the VLC Remote was active, turned off the screen several times. It worked perfect!
I then stopped the pinging and after 1-2 minutes the VLC Remote stopped responding. I pressed the pause button several times, nothing happened.
Then I started the ping back up (the VLC Remote was still open) and after a 2-3 "Request canceled" (no ping reply back from the phone) it got a response from the ping and the VLC Remote worked again.
Is there any way to make the Wi-Fi not go to "sleep"? It's annoying me to stop/start the remote every time I want to pause the movie.
I tried turning Best Wi-Fi performance on, but that didn't help
Thanks!
select the wifi settings, then press the menu button and select advanced, change the wifi sleep policy to never and your laughing

Thanks for the reply fkofilee. It's already set to "never". Updated the original post and title with it.
I restarted the phone and did some more testing.
As long as the screen is on there are no problems (VLC Remote responds), but when I hit the on/off button on the top of the phone to turn the screen off and turn the screen back on after a couple of minutes, VLC Remote will not respond. I have to ping the phone for VLC Remote to respond again.
Any suggestions?
same here, have to disconnect/connect to wifi to get it going again. Really frustrating when my exchangesync fails. Work as a IT-administrator and have to get serverfails reported as soon as possible.

I also have this issue its so annoying. I could be connected to wifi and have bars and then go to download something from the market it will pause and when I go into network setting its says wifi is authenticating but it doesnt change so I have to turn off and back on to get it working again. I had a Iphone 3gs and never had wifi issues like this.

I don't think we have the same problem. Downloading seems fine. When I ping it (while running VLC Remote), it works fine. I can shut the screen off, turn it back on 10 min later and it works fine. It seems like it goes into a type of "sleep mode" when there is no active traffic to/from the phone.
I sent an e-mail to HTC about this problem. I'll keep you guys updated.
Dont know if you do or are into mods but if you root your phone and flash clockwork mod you could try and push a new wifi module using root explorer...or even flash a custom rom...Pretty sure this would fix it..
Depends how much you know about this stuff though..
I can help you through it if you want to...some people dont want to though and I cant blame them...

Thanks rixsta! I'm gonna do a custom ROM, but I'm gonna wait until Gingerbread is released and custom ROMs have been made for that.
Are you up for testing if this is a problem on your ROM? If so, is this fixed with a new wifi module?
*Edit* With LeeDroid 1.2 and Buzz 1,22Ghz v1.0.2 it fixed the problem! I also sent a mail to HTC and they have forwarded it to the programmers.

I'm using leedroid's Rom so can't test and I've just got it working great..but...why don't you just root with visionary and pay £2.50 for root explorer and move a new WiFi module...that's all you need..

SPRINT SG3 tether not working

I haven't used my tether for a few days now, but I know it was working fine before the last update. I'm rooted and running LG2. Im using wifi tether for root. It starts fine and says it is running, but it's not broadcasting. Even I try to do a manual connection to the SSID it wont connect. I didn't think that last update changed anything with that, but like I said, It worked fine before that.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Edit: sorry saw the last sentence saying you were rooted, my bad. Do you plug your phone in when running it? For some reason wifi turns on when you plug the phone in.. And that can mess with tether. I usually plug in, reboot (its fast enough lol) then run tether, which will take over the wifi feed on its own.
Did you have root after the update? If you're rooted, you have to wait for a rooted update to come out on here. Otherwise, an OTA update can mess that up. Not sure if that's the case here but thought you'd like a quick reply..

NP....I am plugged in, but the wifi says it is off. I turned the wifi on and I get the "what the hell" mesage, then I turn it back off and start root again and still get the same results. I will try rebooting the phone and see if that helps. Thanks!
EDIT: Sorry....I meant I start tether again....not root!

OK so the reboot didn't help, but unplugging my phone did. If I start the tether with my phone unplugged it works, but it stops working as soon as I plug it in again. So now how do I fix that? LOL! Thanks for the help though....at least it will work until the battery dies!!

Yeah, something with hooking the charger up is a mess, and it's a bit of trial and error, it might take more than one reboot while hooked up. What you might want to do now, if you're off battery, is turn off tether, plug in the charger, wait like 3 seconds, then re-activate tether to get it to control wifi again?

Try going into settings in WiFi Tether and changing Device Profile to Samsung Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE). Then while still in settings hit menu and (Re)-Install binaries/configs. Worked for me. Only difference is I'm on Verizon but that shouldn't matter. :good:

I am able to get it to work by jumping through all the unplug/replug disable/reenable hoops......but then the tether just stops running automatically after like 10-15 mins..... I just read about the power save settings so I turned that off and I'm going to try that now and see what happens.
Thx portrub! That is the profile I am using, but I havent tried reloading binaries. I'll give that a shot too!
Thx for all the help guys!

[Q] Wifi stuck flicking on and off and hanging in no mands land

I have a Sasktell Note 2 and have major problems with the WiFi
When turning it on it will flick on and off then get stuck off, when i mean flick on and of it never fully turns on the on light comes on for maybe a split second then back of and just hands with it not being on or off and not usable.
I have flashed a multitude of roms and put stock rom back on but this problem will not go away and is random, sometimes removing the battery will help and it will work for a few hours or days then crap out again.
Tried and searched even did the copy the old etc/wifi setting over the orginal did not work.
getting close to the point of stamping on it and getting a Iphone:crying:
Thanks for any help
reboot your router...
Factory reset the device and set up WiFi again..
Sounds like a dirty device...
Router reset also as mentioned above...g
Thanks for advice not sure what you mean on router not using a router, im just trying to turn on the wifi on my phone and its not that it wont connect to anything it just wont turn on.
I have done factory resest 1,0000000000000 times and just flashed another 2 roms same problem.
If you are using wifi at your house etc..
Power down the router for your internet connection and reboot it..
This could also be a hardware issue...
It sounds like you have exhausted the other repair options with fresh installs and trouble shooting....g
Thanks no its nothing to do with a router its a phone issue.
Not connecting to router or anything for that matter just turning on wifi on the phone.
Pos is ready be thrown through a wall no one seems to know the reason
Also as wifi button is not working it also means hotspot is not working
Where can I get the original note 2 rom for sasktel every one I find is bell or ata one last ditch at fixing it

It now comes up with baseband unknown and the phone memory has dropped to 0 if i connect to the usb cable I can see the phone on the PC but has odd numbers when it comes to free memory and cannot create anything as says zero memory.
If i go to the phone there is no longer any signal and the memory is at 0 also.
I just re checked odin i think I clicked Nand erase all by mistake ooops
If you did erase the nand....the phone is effectively dead..
Unless you have a full backup to restore your EFS and IMEI #....then it's bye bye note2..
Oops is right....
Ya killed it....g
Edit:
Do you have a backup ??
That part about being careful was no joke....g
No back up so no phone.................
Could I not DL a nadro from online and flash it?
If that's not a option bye Note 2 I would like to say it had been a fun ride but you where a piece of crap and destroyed my trust in Android your brother SGS1 had a hand in destroying it also )
you cant download someone elses nandroid and use it..
sounds like operator error has runied another phone;
dont blame it on Android
I would agree operator ruined it im not blaming it very odd of you to read that from the sentence.
I stated my first android sgs1 no good nothing to do with anything other than the phone, inline mic and usb sound did not work GPS did not work Samsung stated no work around live with it. Note 2 over 6 months of no Wifi or hotspot makes phone useless for me as it is a required feature as country living no internet unless the phone works. Tried fixing and talking about it no joy so had already decided the phone was going in the trash, hence why im not that fussed that it bricked.

WiFi not connecting, reports two slow?

So this has happened to me at home and work but it's not consistent. Some times when I try to connect I get a message on the WiFi connect that says "Network disabled because Internet connection is slow" (see picture). Any idea what criteria is used to determine this, and is there a way to over ride it?
I'm at work right now and I just got kicked out wifi due to too slow lol.. but at home I have not got it yet.. maybe too much people at work using the wifi network. .
I setup my home network to have separated name (SSID) for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Network.
When I connect to the 2.4Ghz channel, no problem.
At the same distance, like 6 inches away from the router, when I connect to the 5Ghz channel, my 2 Galaxy Note 3 shows the same "network too slow" error and it will drop the connection.
This is one of the many reasons I returned my GSN 3
I also experienced another WiFi error.
At work, I can connect to the WiFi network with the WPA password provided, on my HTC One with no issue whatsoever.
When I tried to connect to the same network using the Note 3, it keeps telling me I have to "sign-in", when I click on the browser to "sign-in" (like those Free WiFi you can get at the hotel), there is no sign in page (because there is none) and brings me right to Google.com.
After that, the connection will last for 30 seconds or so and drop off.
The one I got initially and the replacement, both have the same issue, and I did inform T Mobile before I return them back.
4.3 problem? Samsung's problem? I don't know... All I know is I will wait until they resolve all these before I will reconsider getting this phone.
I spoke to them on same issue. Got new phone and they working on updating the WiFi drivers.

So far yes. Not a 100% sure though because the problem was not consistent. Sometimes it would connect sometime give the message. So, I'll keep you posted if it comes back.
Not trying to say your post isn't serious enough but we all who are having this problem on a consistent basis need to make a thread about this and just not take anything for an answer, but to give people somewhere to complain about this & hopefully bring more attention to this because there is nothing that is fixing this issue. The only thing that will fix this is Samsung or a Dev on a custom ROM hopefully. If you uncheck the options in advanced settings, it just stops the pop up from coming up telling you the connection is to slow & dropping you, after unchecked it dont drop you but while still showing you a full connection it will not do anything data wise, connect to the internet, switch to a different site, no facebook, no twitter, no market etc..... Nothing, you dont get dropped you just cant do anything. I hope my anger dont make anyone think Im arguing with anyone in here and their opinions, we all have this problem and are trying to help eachother, im just poitning out that those who are thinking this is fixing things its not, its just stopping the pop up. I am very frustrated this is happening on a brand new phone i waited this long for and paid as much as i did for. There should be a freaking petition started for this cause its just wrong.
Works fine for me my wifi never disconnects now after unchecking auto network switch and always scanning... Idk what to tell you guys that are still having the issue because I had the same issue when I first got the phone too...
Maybe try forgetting the network then reconnect after unchecking those settings and reboot...

Not all phones are created equal. Samsung needs to change the wifi drivers on the phone or a dev needs to take note 2 drives and add them to a custom rom.

I posted this in a different forum also but figured id post it here to. I just got off the phone with Samsung & they told me its not a major reported problem, wtf, lol? Everyone i know who owns this phone has this problem with it sayin internet connection to slow and booting them off, even with full signal. Im on my 2nd phone now & have the same problem. They tried telling me to go in to the wifi call settings & turn off wifi calling preferred, & i said why? Even though it's checked I have it off. I said seriously? what is that going to do for a wifi signal problem, lol. It's not my wifi calling it's my full wifi signal. I can tell this is going to be a huge problem & im returning my phone, 3rd time now, for a new one today, if i get the same problem, almost positive i will, im sadly going to have to return this phone & just get a refund instead. & that would really suck. Maybe i'll try a black one, but im sure it probably happens on that one to, lol.
I have been having this problem also. Turning off "Auto network switch" in the advanced network settings allows the phone to hold on to the connection, but it is completely unstable. I tested the connection using iPerf and it was all over the place. I can post screenshots when I get home later if it helps anyone. Samsung definitely needs to step in here.

Has anyone else noticed that their device does not automatically turn on wifi on their home network anymore. With WiFi off, it used to automatically turn on shortly after entering my home. All settings are checked under wifi settings.
Yeah I have noticed this in the past day or 2. I have had this working in the past but no longer seems to auto-reconnect.

Are you on the stock kernel?
Yes, stock kernel - Oreo 8.0
Mine stopped working after upgrade to 8.1. Any idea how to make it working again?

I think we're the only people in the world w/ this problem. Can't find squat after searching everywhere except this thread.
Somewhere along the way it started working again for me. Not sure how or why but you might try using the smart lock and reset your home location or add a few other locations around your home that would unlock it.

After a few months, mine started automatically connecting to WiFi again today.
I updated Waze beta and Android Auto, so that may have been the problem for me, because I think it started after installing one or both of those in previous versions. I highly suspect one of those two since I have them set to only use data when either is started.
