My external SD card is going bonkers - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I keep seeing a message saying sd card was suddenly removed, and then it reactivates the SD card and everythings fine, and sooner or later, the cycle keeps repeating.
I saw this happening in the last week or so on my galaxy s3 i had before the note 2, so i know its not the phone and its the card.. but i was wondering what i could do to maybe fix this? I already tried formatting the sd card once, but im thinking maybe this card is permanetely damaged somehow?? Anything I can do to kinda get it to stop acting up or am i out of luck?

If you can backup the contents of your SD card to a PC, try this video...

This is apparently a recurring issue, it happens on my 64gb uhs1 card too, and its a genuine card. I still haven't been able to track down the cause of it, and it's fairly annoying. The card just locks up and ignores commands sent to it and the kernel times out on it and sees it as dead. No actual data loss or anything.

yeah.. i feel like everytime i turn the screen on i see 'preparing SD card'
im thinking it has an effect on battery too.

Memory Card = SLOW Phone

Hi, I just want to see if this is a common problem or it's just my memory card. I bought a 16GB card from Newegg to hold all my music and whenever the card is actually in my phone, (Flashed to EnergyROM Geneis), it is SLOW. Lagging everywhere, almost useless and occassionaly after long hours will give me a "emergency low memory" error, and I will have to reset by taking the battery out. When I remove the card, after a few minutes the phone is MUCH faster, it still lags a bit, but definately useable, and it's just very smooth compared to the jaggy and stiff movements when the card is in.
Whats up? Thanks.
naa, i wouldnt say this is normal mate, prob a duff memory card, try another one and see how it goes.... i have noticed a slow-down on mine when i use my storage card to save all my emails , but apart from that, no difference card in / card out.
Come to think of it.... I may be having the same problem.
About a week ago I installed 3 new pieces of software. After a few days I noticed that my phone has been feeling laggy. So 1 by1 I unistalled the software... still the problem persists.
Reading your post made me think... hmm about a week ago I also installed a 4 gb memory card! The card works fine, I can access it, and store stuff on it.
Also, come to think of it. I was making panoramic photos last night and my phone kept freezing after the 2nd photos. And would crash- resetting itself. I had the phone set to save images to the card. Setting it to save them to the phone it stopped crashing... maybe my memory card is too slow. Perhaps, there is a setting in the phone which affects the through put from the phone to the card that can be tweaked. I seam to remember see settings for power saving features for the micro sd card.. Could this be the culprit?
my well-used card made my tp2 quirky so i reformatted fat32 in vista and all is good.
maybe there is so much songs in your card.
or your card speed is slowly.

Problem with SD Card

I don't seem to be having much luck with my Desire what with Youtube sync problems, connectivity issues and now a nice new problem has occurred for a second time so I thought it was worth throwing it out and see if anyone else has experienced this.
Twice now my phone has popped up with a message saying its unable to complete a back up of my settings to the SD Card. After this message is dismissed I can no longer access the SD Card and I have to restart the phone to get it back again. I can eject the sdcard from the settings menu but obviously you can't actually get the thing out so that option is kind of worthless.
Starting to think it might be worth getting a replacement handset, but not certain there is anything actually wrong with it. For reference I have a 4gig SD card that came pre-installed as seems the norm with the HTC Desire.
Your memory card is probably loose.
Happened to me ONCE. I took it out, gave it a clean, shoved it back in and had no problems since,
Fon22
I have the same issue Intermittent and irritating. I have taken it out and reseated it but after a while it comes back again.

"Sd card is read only" Notification?

Last time this happened, it went away by itself, but now it's not. I can't get rid of the Error SD Card is Read Only notification. This was after I was transfering some file from my computer to my phone
Happened to me before. I had to format the card to get it to work again
sent from my DAMN EVO
Happened to myself and others. I'm noticing that it's a repeating issue with my phone. It's pretty chronic. I'm thinking that its a hardware issue.

[Q] Dead microSD?

Woke up this morning and my live wallpaper which uses my camera photos has stopped working, I also had a notification saying my SD card has unexpectedly unmounted.
Its done this before when I had not put in in correctly, so I powered the phone down and removed and reinstered the card, then rebooted. Nothing, the card was not found.
I have another 4gb card which I tried in my phone and that was picked up right away. the 8gb which came with the phone is not found in a helmet camera I have or by my laptop either. So I have come to the conclusion it has died completely.
Is there anyway I can recover the data from this or is it a lost cause?
*Note to self, backup more often!*

[Q] SD card unmounting by itself

Hi , wanted to bring up a problem Ive been experiencing with my LG G3 here on the forums.
I have completely stock LG G3 D852 on Kitkat 4.4.2. The problem is this: At random times I will wake my phone up to discover a notification that the SD card has been unmounted. Physically the SD Card is secure and has not been moved or shaken at all.
I will then attempt to go to 'settings' and mount the SD card. At this point the phone notifies that the SD card cannot be mounted or cannot be read.
I have found that by simply restarting the phone, the SD card goes right back to normal with all files fully readable as if nothing ever happened.
My closest understanding about what may be going on is that some apps are writing some sort of backup files to my sd card which are causing some sort of corruption (just a theory) the reason for this is that this phenomena seemed to occur more frequently after doing heavy editing on my desktop visualizer widget, but it may have been simply a coincidence.
The SD Card is a Kingston Ultimate 64GB (Class 10 UHS-I) microSDXC Card, Up to 90MB/s read, 45MB/s write (SDCA10/64GB) which was placed in the phone brand new about the same time the phone was also new and formatted immediately in the LG G3. It has been in use for a little less than three weeks.
My question is, has anyone else experienced anything similar? What are your experiences? Please share below. And has anyone stumbled upon any solutions?
