google wallet

So anyone got google wallet working? I'm being told via the phone that its not available on my carrier?

me too. Sadly after looking around on the net i found that it doesnt work. There might be a way around it once we get root. Can still use the NFC chip just not google wallet, yet. Tmobile and other carriers are trying to develop their own payment system.

Yea , a different payment app is suppose to be release this summer , but Google wallet as for now only works on sprint

I'd rather have Google wallet than some 3rd party app that is hardly established yet. Give it time, i'm sure we will see a hack or an official Google Wallet support. We have the technology in our phones to use the service, just takes time.

Ive been waiting for months for this guys, they are taking their time for sure.

Guys please be careful if this eventually gets working and you have the ability to flash custom roms. When going to a different rom you have to make sure to always reset the app from within wallet before flashing or else you could brick your nfc chip in a way that you can never use wallet again. It happened to me my second day owning my nexus.

This will let you non Sprint people use Google wallet I believe. Just read the instructions it can't be installed normally. It might require root I don't remember.

Google Wallet and the T-Mobile Galaxy S2?

I can't seem to get a straight answer about this, anywhere. What's the deal with this phone, and Google Wallet? Why don't they work together? Is it because of Custom ROMS, root, even the carrier? Is there a workaround for any of these issues? I've been dying to try it, but it wont work. I may not exactly be in the right place, but this is the last place I can think of asking.

The Galaxy S2 has nfc but it doesn't have the secured element.
It's missing the hardware needed for Google wallet and as such it will never work on the s2.
With that said.. As us with the sgs3 found out.. We have the hardware but Google tried to lock us out.. Good things devs found a work around and now Google wallet works with sgs3 even on carriers banned from Google..
But for the sgs2 and skyrocket.. You're missing hardware needed for Google wallet..

The s2 I believe is on the approved list for isis so you will have mobile payments.. Hopefully by the end of the year...

Very disappointed by this... Used it on my S3 all the time. Guess we have to sit tight and wait for a ROM that can use it.

We have NFC, so I don't understand why it's bot supported. Do you think we may get this feature in the future, or could this be an AT&T issue?

Probably a build.prop edit will fix it, but could break other things. It would work by telling GW it is a different device.

Anything that accepts paypass.

This on top of "Samsung Apps" having a bunch of "Test Apps" for the ifrst 3 days shows they weren't at all ready for release... REALLY .. is it that different from Google Wallet? There are other apps that don't work
The NFC apps dont work at all - i just tried to pay my parking meter in SFO today with it - doesn't work (yes it is on).

I've had good luck with NFC

It's Sprint that's the holdup. I wasn't able to use Wallet on my S3 until after I'd rooted and installed a different ROM (CM10 at that point). When I went back to a TW ROM, Wallet continued to work (not sure what they did with their TW ROMs, as even the leaks of the official ROMs continued to work).

On my GS3 it didnt work until I got an update on my phone.

I thought Google Wallet was permitted with Sprint?

I have a Verizon N2 and had to do the hack to get it to work. My friend was excited to get his Sprint N2 the other day. I was showing him how to use it, pulled it down from the Playstore. Then it says it's not supported on his device. What gives? I thought ATT and VZW users were not allowed but Sprint was?

Seems sprint changed their mind on supporting it to start their own nfc payment option. At least that's what the rumors look like. Whatever the case its annoying! I wish Google would put their foot down and not let carriers remove this...

That makes no sense to me. Who cares if there were 50 to choose from. Seems like more options for people to go with. I hate that carriers have any say as to what I do with my device after I buy it!!! Verizon pulled that last week with bootloaders.

It makes perfect sense. Sprint was the only carrier who was allowing it in the past. The other three carriers opted out for their own service so I don't see why Sprint wouldn't follow in the same footsteps.

The issue is on google's side...not Sprint's. Until google makes it compatible we will have to use the work around.
I have seen nothing internally to backup info that Sprint would be working on a payment system....not that I could comment on that sort of info anyway

I've read something about it. Not sure if it was an article or someone elses post from xda. However I don't understand why all previous phones had support from the start like. GS3, EVO LTE, LG VIPER, and a few others. Now all the latest ones don't. The Optimus G is also not supported. I smell something cooking on sprints end. Idk hopefully I'm proven wrong.

The evo lte was not supported from the start. We had to do essentially the same hack for several months.
It's interesting and heartening to hear that it's not Sprint doing the blocking, if true. Heartening because Sprint has an obvious potential motive, the same one as every other carrier, and you can't fight that. But Google probably has no motive to artificially deny access to a new service it's trying to get off the ground. If Google is blocking it, the reason is probably technical and they are probably working on resolving it even if it doesn't look like it from here. I suppose it's ever so slightly possible they might want their Nexus devices to stand out as the only ones that work, so you get a nexus instead of a carrier branded phone, but that doesn't add up because right now practically no one even knows what google wallet is, and the user experience is LESS convenient than swiping a card even for those few people that have wallet working. It's not a selling point.

Actually, the issue is on the carrier's side. Firstly, Sprint is releasing their own payment solution:

Secondly, Google wallet is being rejected because it requires a hardware secure element. Verizon/ATT (ISIS) has proposed that a mobile wallet should not require this "secure element." In fact, they even complained to the FCC about Google Wallet requiring this and that Google Wallet would be fine if it did not. However, ISIS also requires a secure element. In fact, ISIS is essentially the same thing as wallet, so it turns out the carriers are just trying to blackball Google out of the wallet/mobile payment game.

Sprint has been toying with their own wallet app, but at the moment, it's nothing more than a rough concept, backed up by leaked PowerPoint slides. As of now, there is no tentative release date for this app.
The L900 will likely be officially supported in the next release of Google Wallet. They've made changes that allow easy installation and use without build.prop hacks, signifying a beta testing level for the device.
The roll out of Google Wallet has been handled exceptionally poorly, both by Google and carriers like Sprint. Hopefully, they'll get their act together in the coming quarter.

But, I'm running a stock(ish) ROM. Rooting has nothing to do with it. You just have to sideload the app.

Rooting has something to do with it on my VZW N2. There are files to flash.... Not possible sans root. Please show me how it's possible on stock non rooted sprint phone.

If you're running the MA7 ROM, all you need to do is download the Wallet apk, check the box for Unknown Sources in Security settings, and execute the apk. It will install and run with no issues, and no unsupported device warnings. No root required.

It's not going to show up in the Play store. Search for the thread I mentioned and download the version for MA7. Once downloaded, open it, it'll ask if you want to install. Click yes and it'll do the rest.

Google Wallet Works 4.1.2

I didn't see any posts yet about this.
When looking up Google Wallet in the market it still says it is not supported, I took the apk from my Nexus 7 and installed it and it works great!

It does? I'm not on JB yet because I don't want to LGNPST back. Waiting on the devs to do their stuff, but can anyone else confirm this? It'd be awesome if it did, because I was hoping I'd get wallet on this.

I was able to install Google wallet fine after upgrading. The application seems to work fine, it even reminds you that your device is unsupported. I have not actually tried to make a payment with it yet though, but I imagine it works fine.

That's really cool. I didn't think this phone had the secure element required for Google Wallet. Apparently, it does. Awesome news.

All paypass locations. Only places that advertise the use of Google wallets are airports. But the real focus are in paypass locations. Most gas stations. Fast food joints. Clothing stores. Walmart has talked about picking it up. Nearly every store in my local mall. Pizza hut by my house.

you can use any Visa, Mastercard, Amex, or Discover card. so most credit and debit cards are able to be linked.

I'm upgraded to jelly bean and installed Google wallet apk from the other thread. it was working for about a week. Was able to make transactions using it. Rebooted my phone today and I get the unsupported error when starting wallet. Any advice?

Same here.
Sucks because I was ready to use it.

I was able to get mine working again after doing the XPOSED mod at www.modaco.com/topic/354635-xposed-mod-region-device-root-patched-google-wallet/

I rooted and unlocked last night then used the xposed method and got wallet working again. Only took about 30 minutes.

The one app I didn't check before the major update to Imperium Agent. Figures. Guess I need to start on an update to my update.
