[Q] So how many people on here actually have this phone? - Sprint LG Optimus G

I am just curious, I still have a good 9-10 days to return it and might as well if there is not going to be much dev support because even with this awesome hardware I know LG just plain sucks at software...
We should make a list, if you have one say so just so we can get a count of how many people have them.

I have it...I am not a dev and don't really care to root my phone...just want the Jelly Bean upgrade I'll be happy with this. Dropped my GSIII the other day...the deductible on the insurance was $199....I had an upgrade was going to get a new GSIII but started reading about this phone so I decided to give a shot...LOVE IT...don't regret getting this over another GSIII...as a matter of fact I like it better. Very happy with it.

I have it. My return deadline is this Friday. Might return it for the Nexus 4. Love the device. At&t wont unlock. Still undecided for now.

This exactly. I think my deadline is the 19th...

I'm not counting on att I'm hoping devs figure it out. But if we have to rely on LG jelly bean may never happen and this bloat is ridiculous, I'm pretty sure they never fixed the G2x only the custom roms did.

The bloat you can fix by rooting and using Titanium Backup. I'm fine with the phone, I just need to know that the bootloader will get unlocked, and there will be dev support. The entire xda section for this phone is dead. Not a good sign.

Exactly my worry, this place is a ghost town. And there is something very wrong with our stock OS. The battery usage is ridiculous and this chip should bench higher too.

The battery has been up and down for me. Twice I've had something get stuck that killed the battery, once it was the phone, and I hadn't made any calls that day. It was fine after a reboot. The android OS seems to keep it awake a bit much, and the phone is NEVER in deep sleep as much as other devices. Try eco mode?
Also, this thing is benching fine? Same as the Korean version? I posted a bunch of bench screens in the "show homescreen" thread. The N4 was benching horribly last time I was looking at reviews...

Well I guess my only comparison were the 10k quadrants the qualcomm dev system was putting up with this chip. But yeah I mean it is blazing fast, fastest phone I've ever seen... That's why I'm having such a hard time deciding.

This thing with its stock AT&T ICS rom, stock kernel, stock clocks, is benching about the same as my SGS3 was with a Jelly Bean ROM, kernel, and OCed to 1.7ghz. In some cases, its beating it. My friend has the Sprint SGS3 (krait dual core) and I'm obliterating him in benches. Browsermark is about the only thing he's even with.
As a phone, for normal people, is great. I could easily recommend this to friends. Battery life is the only thing we can debate on. For us? We need XDA dev support. I know for myself, I *have* to get back to Jelly Bean, and some form of AOSP rom. (I'm partial to AOKP)
So I have a week to see what's going to happen. Hopefully with the N4 coming out today, we'll see something. If its still a ghost town with no word by next week, I'm going to have to decided to either return it, and save my upgrade or sell it on XDA.

That dev board shows what the SoC is capable of, but no way will performance be the same on this. This already has thermal throttling issues, so pushing it too much would be crazy.

Exactly what I'm thinking, not because of dev support, but because there are many little issues I can't deal with with this phone. Either the Nexus 4 or the One X+.

Good luck getting a Nexus anytime soon, I tried AT launch this morning. Some members got some, others like myself spent 20 minutes trying over and over, getting lag and errors until the phone was removed from our carts, and is now sold out.
I tried. I have to return the LGOG by Monday... hopefully something happens by then.

This phone is brand new...you can't expect it to be PERFECT..its pretty close though lol. And all I see is people pointing out the bad. Battery life...you have 4 cores! Your phone isn't gonna get the battery life your used to..and benchmarks? Idk what you guys are pulling but I get 7500+. That's plenty fast for me. And LG is hurting. The OG is gonna make or break them. I think you need to have faith in this manufacturer. Its the first of its kind in the US. Its too big of a deal to not update. Mght be a couple months but for those of you who switch because of locked bootloader will regret with what I believe will come in the future. Jellybean will do wonders for the UI..which is not bad at all...I suggest you give this beast a chance..I don't think you will regret it.

Sure sure Mr LG employee! I do agree this phone will be the survival or death of their mobile. But my doubts come from owning prior LG devices, their problems were all software and never fixed by LG. It didn't matter though because we had a decent dev community, looked bootloaders though on an LG phone worry the hell out of me. This phone is a beast I love the build quality but I am still sceptical, I'm going to ride this ship though hopefully we steer clear of icebergs!

I can understand your concerns. I had the same thoughts..I almost considered switching to the one x+, but I would regret it if (and I'm sure it will) upgrade to 4.1 or possibly jb and 4.2. I think this is their changing point.

I was rooting for the nexus 4 but when it came out with no lte and no expandable memory I opted for the next best thing at the time which was LG optimus g hoping developement would be therefore it. And thankfully it seems to be the case so :good:!

I have had this device a little over a week and i love it i get way better battery life than i did oit of my atrix 2 and so far nothing i due can produce lag the phone responds as fast as i can touch the screen i love my device i think build quality is second to none and my city launched lte recently so with 40 mb plus download speeds i think this device is supurb i have rooted and installed custom roms on every device i have owned but so far with the optimus g i see no need to my only complaint is the camera i feel it could be better but hey its still a phone !

I am loving this phone. Its incredibly fast and responsive I have only managed to lag it with Testla LED (oddly Flashlight works fine).
Not a huge fan of LG's UI choice (I would have rather had a dark theme, but its not that big of a deal.) Hopefully we get an official Cyanogen port down the road.

I just picked up my OG yesterday. This is my first Android phone in awhile. I've previously had a G1 and Sprint HTC Hero. I'm coming from an iPhone 5 I smashed in frustration after dealing with Apple's dumb customer service reps for a week regarding a SIM not valid error after updating to iOS 6.0.1.

[Q] Who else is getting the Galaxy Nexus?

Well first off, my Incredible has been a POS ever since I dropped it and cracked the screen, even though I replaced it, it doesnt work right.
Not only that, Im tired of Sense. I was pissed that we got Gingerbread 8 months after it was announced and also even if I get a new HTC phone, Sense has just become too bloated for me.
So how many other people are going to become Android Purists and get the Galaxy Nexus?
you should do a poll.

Even though the names of both phones are now wrong, the Vigor being the Rezound and the Prime being the Galaxy-Nexus.
If you hated Sense that much I'm actually pretty surprised you haven't rooted and put on an AOSP ROM. The DINC has had an awesome development community and we've been lucky enough to have a ton of really great ROMs ported for us and we were never tied to waiting for HTC or being stuck with Sense.

agreed. We have never been short on ROMs. I have found that there have been some really awesome ones with sense. Mctwist is running smooth as ever.
I'm probably going to get the galaxy nexus after it comes out and is clear from any major bugs, but that is just to upgrade because there is nothing wrong with my incredible. It has literally been incredible since the day I got it. It's rare for phones these days to actually be able to do that.
I am getting the Nexus and then using my incredible as a back up.
Will finally have a back up phone that is android.
Still torn on this myself. I will definitely have to see it in person, and I'd like to see how the developer community works out.
Of course by then some new better yet phone will be just around the corner.

Same here. I like a lot - a LOT - of what I've seen and heard about the Vigor/Rezound, but I simply want to give the Galaxy Nexus a solid try. ICS from day one, cutting-edge updates. The ICS presentation in Hong Kong sold me, I don't want to wait weeks to months (I suspect a viable AOSP Inc build within a week of the AOSP ICS release - I'm not as confident on the Vigor, since we don't know the bootloader status yet, and this IS Verizon we're talking about) for ICS on a Vigor.
They're (rumored to be) coming out close enough together, that if I end up disliking my Galaxy Nexus and just like the Rezound better (you can bet I'll be in a B&M VZW store getting my hands on it) I can return and switch.
I really like my Incredible a lot, and I'm floored with the strong dev community for it, and what I've seen of similar things for the EVO family and so on. I hope the same for the Vigor/Rezound will be true. But then again, I've seen an overwhelming majority of anyone with a Nexus phone saying how happy they are with theirs.
For one, I'll be getting it just because it's a Nexus device. I enjoy my Incredible and will continue use it as a backup. I've tried all kinds of Roms and I just wanna try something different. I enjoy Sense but the recent versions have just not been fun for me, maybe that's because of Verizon's locking down or something.
It looks nice, but I am going to watch the hype for a bit. It is hard to move on from something as smooth and still as well supported as our INC.
I am going for the Droid Razr, never have and never will own a Samsung phone. Motorola and HTC have proven themselves in the Signal Strength and Quality category for many many years.

not an issue in any of their newer phones either.
I was completely going for the Rezound before I realized that it's still a mystery if it's going to get an unlocked bootloader or not. That's a deciding factor for me.
The Nexus is a great phone, but again another huge letdown is the SD card slot. I use my phone as my iPod so I need the space for my music collection.
I have no problem waiting with my trusty INC until I can see better how these phones will turn out.
Waiting for the quad core phone that is not even coming to verizon is just insanity. It'll be such a long wait, I'll bet you almost anything that the Q1 Q2 date will be pushed back, not to mention that phone is for AT&T, verizon may not see a quad core phone for another year.

That's a pretty big issue for me too, and seeing that motorola pointed the finger at Verizon for the locked bootloader on the Droid Razr, I'm not expecting to see any sort of official bootloader unlocking from HTC (even if they wanted to) for the Rezound. Wouldn't be surprised to see something down the road from revolutionary/unrevoked, but I'd like to be able to buy a phone, turn on USB debugging, plug it into my laptop, do a quick 'fastboot oem unlock' and be done with it (nexus).

I had it, used it, uninstalled it. Streaming over 3G isn't that great in spotty coverage, plus I really dislike the app and how it functions, the UI mostly.
The more I think about it though, the more I think 32GB will be enough. I'm leaning towards the Nexus but still going to wait it out. With the prices they're being sold at I don't want to make a choice that I'll end up regretting.

Should I trade my DINC + $20 for a Fascinate?

I've been given the opportunity to trade my incredible + $20 for a fascinate. Should I do it?
I am kinda really attached to my phone and I can get an upgrade as early as April anyway. I know the fascinate has a pretty darn good build of ICS working on it which is the only reason I'm considering it.
Like I said, I love this phone and am apprehensive to trade it for something else. ICS would be nice, but I'm not sure how many quirks the build has.
Any thoughts? The deal would take place on Friday so I dont have much time to sit and think.

Bigger screen... HELL YEAH
Less ram hell no.
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-
After Samsung's antennagate debacle with the first line of Galaxy S phones, you shouldn't waste your time with the Fascinate. I know it's been "fixed" but that was piss poor handling by Samsung.
No..........
I wouldn't take a fascinate for free. I know to many people with Samsung phones that just have problem after problem. No network connection. My mothers Infuse just turns off randomly. A woman I work next to hers drops 4G to no connection I've pulled her simcard/battery at least 3 times recently. My brother has a NS4g he was telling my yesterday he had no network connection or was dropped to 1x. Battery pull once again. A kid a used to work with had a galaxy S 1 random reboots and just stop charging. Another girl I work with also has a galaxy S 1 ive never seen a phone go into safe mode before. Battery pull. The main reason I passed on the GNexus is because it was made by Samsung.
Long story short NO

Another no from me.
Of course you are asking a bunch of dINC owners
still I think the dINC is more future proof (even considering how old it is) than the Fascinate.
Yeah I've decided I'm not going to do it. The GPU is worlds better on the fascinate, but with an upgrade right around the corner and me being completely satisfied with this phone (heck I may wait even longer) I'm just gonna stick around. If the fascinate had 4G then it might have been a done deal.
Again thanks all for the feedback!

You're welcome!
I went from the Dinc to the Fascinate. Keep the Dinc. The only thing that the Fascinate has on the Dinc is the bigger screen and a better DAC.
I personally bought the DINC because it was the smallest smartphone available. Sadly, it still is one of a kind in that department. I would try out the ICS build. I am using it now. It's quite stable and will make you feel like you have a new phone even though you have a two year old one.

I have tried out the ICS build and I'm not very satisfied with it. I am hugely picky about the smoothness and responsiveness of my phone rom and ICS on the inc isn't quite there yet due to the graphics drivers not supporting the GPU acceleration properly. I'll give it another shot if that ever gets fixed. That was the main draw of the fascinate to me, same gpu as the gnexus, same smoothness of the gnexus.

Just my opinion, I would never trade a phone you are happy with for anyone's phone unless it was a large upgrade and you were sure you could return it. Many phones have minor annoyances which would make you regret it even if the phone was a minor upgrade. I run miui v4 and despite the things not yet worked out, it is still excellent.

Without a doubt go for it...Just saw your first post maybe you decided already...I've had my fascinate for a year now and the last three months of ics builds have been great. I've used both the teamhacksung and the gummy builds (which I'm running now).
Both builds have been for the most part stable from what I've experienced.
My buddy has two DINC's at the moment with one running MIUI, I wouldn't trade my shattered LCD stylin' fascinate for it...I soft bricked my fassy for two weeks before I got the time to read up enough and restore it, then I dropped it flush, face down on concrete that same exact day...
so yeah take the i500 or sure...save your upgrade if you want
I have a special place in my heart for the Fascinate, but the GPS problem was painful to deal with, no matter how many gpsfix.zip's people put out.

Quitting on this phone

I was about to buy this amazing phone, when I remembered that it has a locked bootloader which means no CM10.1 which means im stuck with android 4.1. Then I researched a bit and found out that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is highly rumored to come out at CES 2013, which is probably gonna be running android 4.2 and be able to have CM10.1! So I guess this is goodbye!

Hi everybody. I thinking about getting a new phone but I'm having a hard time deciding between the evo lte or the lg optimus. I currently have the evo 3d. Honestly I'm leaning more towards the optimus. Is it really as good as it seems? Obviously the specs are amazing but if you actually have the phone or have used it, would you recommend that I get it too. I also noticed more activity on these forums which is a good thing. I would honestly stay away from the Evo 4G LTE. I was a pre-order coming off an OG EVO. Sense 4 is way over aggressive on task killing and the stock mail apk would not translate html from my work exchange server , so I got lines of code. The phone also has very poor performance picking up lte signal. Deck's cm10 made the phone much better (Deck is the only saving grace in my opinion).
Sprint switched me into the S3 last week, and I picked up a lgog off Craigslist for cheap. I think both of these phones are superior to the Evo 4Gm lte . I do like the Evo 4G lte display though.

Personally after owning a 3D, idk how you could consider HTC again. I wanted to throw mine against a wall. I absolutely love the Optimus G and would highly recommend it to other people. The camera isn't as good as the Evo LTE or the GS3 but it's good enough for what I need. Performance is lightning quick, battery life is great, very high build quality, and the screen is gorgeous. And LG's UI is actually really nice, I like it much better than Sense.

I understand what you're your saying; but when I bought the 3d I was coming from (ironically) an LG phone. But that phone was very, very basic. So when I got the 3d, my first smartphone, it was the biggest thing to me at the time. Reading your comment I can tell that I'll have that same feeling if I get the Optimus G, if its as great as many people say. Thanks for your insight.
Ok, guys I am extremely sorry for what I have posted. I obviously was a complete dumb ****. I wasn't thinking at the time because I was doing so many things outside of android life, So Sorry.

My first smart phone was the Evo 4G. It was mind blowingly awesome. Like I literally loved everything about it, except for the top mounted power button that felt extremely cheap, and they continued that with the Evo 3D. Why HTC keeps thinking the top is the best place for the unlock/power button is beyond me...I'm so happy that it's on the side with the OG. I ended up with a 3D cause I shattered the screen on my 4G and they sent me one through insurance. After two years with HTC, I hate Sense and I'm just ready to move on. I'm not really brand biased, so I was open to LG. I had a LG Shine years back and I absolutely loved that phone. Even without a buzzing dev community it's still a great phone. I think you'll be very happy here though
New to this group. Had HTC for a long time and now the Samsung Epic 4G Touch (love this phone). But i have looked at all the options out there and it does seems that this Optimus G is the BEST out there (at least for now, and i i looking for a phone now!!!) So just ordered it...and will be in this forum from now on.

Sounds like we had a similar update path. I went from the original Evo 4G to the Epic 4G Touch(which I sadly dropped in my soup at a sushi restaurant, phone still kind of works, btw, but the charging light won't turn off) and am now also on the Optimus G. With that being said, here's what you will miss:
1. The super saturated Super AMOLED Plus display. It will take time for your eyes and brain to adjust to normal color temperatures so don't let that put you off.
2. Samsung's Smart alarm. If you don't know what it is though, then you won't miss it, but it was a built in alarm function that would wake you gently to nature sounds. I missed it horribly...at first...until I downloaded Alarm Clock Xtreme and a $0.99 nature sounds album from Amazon.
3. Getting used to not having a microSD card slot.
4. Removable battery...not a huge deal since the Optimus G battery is much larger capacity, but I did have the stock battery on my Epic 4G Touch swell before I got the battery replaced, hopefully that won't be an issue with the Optimus "non-removable" battery.
5. Not going to lie, the camera on the Epic is better. With that being said, You may want to look into Camera ZoomFX for the time being as the Optimus has an issue with locking in autofocus, losing it and locking in again....even when you touch to focus. The aforementioned app doesn't appear to have that problem so it's believed to be a problem in LG's camera software, not necessarily the hardware.
With that being said, here's what you'll gain:
1. Quite possibly one of the best LCD displays out at the moment(excepting the Droid DNAs freakishly high pixel count). 720P movies look amazing on the Optimus G.
2. 50GB box.com account. Just download it from the play store directly from the phone and they will make 50 GB available to you for free. You can then download it on your Epic and use it to easily transfer files from one phone to another wirelessly as well as using it on your computer as well.
3. I never did the ICS update on my Epic as I was rooted, so maybe this wasn't an issue, but ICS no longer separates app storage partitions so the full amount of formatted memory on the phone is available to be used for app store.
4. 2 GB of ram(I guess in truth you're gaining one since the Epic had 1GB).
5. If you have an MHL adaptor for your Epic, rest assured knowing it will work with the Optimus G, unlike the GS3 and Note 2 where Samsung broke with traditional MHL compatibility forcing you to buy their overpriced MHL adaptor.
6. Working GPS. I dare you to download GPS test on the Epic and then the Optimus when you receive it and go outside and see how long they take to get a lock and how many satellites the phones are actually connecting to. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. My Epic would never connect to more than a handful at a time and had accuracy ranges measured in tens of yards. The Optimus G connects magnitudes faster and to more satellites with an average accuracy of 10 feet as far as I've observed.
7. Build quality to put Samsung to shame. Co-worker of mine got the GS3 about the same time I got my Optimus and for 14 days, he really had to convince himself he was ok with the subjectively chintzy feeling of the GS3 in comparison to the solid construction of the Optimus(he came from an original Evo as well so weight and solidity were what he was used to).
8. Less tangible, but the hope is that since this phone is a near clone of the Nexus 4, there should be plenty of development on it and since LG is in the Nexus program now, hopefully Jellybean will follow in short order.
9. Effective radios. I already mentioned GPS, but I've found wifi to be much stronger with this phone as is 3G(I won't compare 4G since they use different technologies). In one of the other posts someone posted the FCC measurements and this phone is right up there with the Motorola Photon(Moto usually seems to design some of the most effective radios out there so that's high praise).
10. Last but not least, his beast of a processor. The Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core with the Adreno 320 GPU. Quadrant scores in the mid to high 7000 range are now within your grasp(for what it's worth...bragging rights, maybe). With that being said, the phone behaves like it's on steroids. Nothing slows it down.
Welcome to the group!

Would you buy another Optimus

I'm asking current owners IF they'd buy another Optimus.
And why or why not.
I wouldn't buy the G2, because it'll be way too soon for me to buy a new phone, but when my upgrade rolls around I'll certainly consider another Optimus phone. So far I've had the Optimus S and the Optimus G, two fantastic phones. The S can actually run jellybean fairly smoothly, it's amazing.

I would buy another optimus and this is a fairly decent upgrade, however, I will still wait a year. Right now, my two favorite companies are HTC and LG. They make high quality, innovative stuff.

I just sold my optimus G to get the HTC One and I'm very happy with my decision but that being said I would still buy another optimus. I was so happy with my purchase of the optimus G and wouldnt have given it up if it werent for me getting such a great deal on the HTC one. $30.
LG came from dirt phone after dirt phone and surprised us all with the optimus G. Surprised everyone and did it with style. All anyone could talk about was galaxy s3 this evo lte that, razr, one x, ect. Then this phone came out. Sh!t all over the compition and even mocked samsung with their "4" billboard. The ONLY thing keeping this device from being any more popular is the fact that they have fail so many times before with previous devices.
Now coming out with a device to compete with the note series and another G to keep up with the one and s4 even though they don't have to. The optimus G is still just as good as the high end phones coming out today. They are doing this to keep their name fresh and to hopefully one day soon give people more of a choice when going to upgrade rather than depending on the reps to push their stuff.

LG could be the next Samsung. Before the s1, they made crap devices, such as the moment. The s1 and s2 were good, but not a household name. Then comes the s3 and its incessant advertising and people think that just because they advertise that it's the best phone, so since HTC is a smaller company, and has a lower budget, they are getting screwed despite having higher quality products. Oh how the tables have turned since the evo. No one had heard of a galaxy, it wasn't even offered as that on carriers. The only phones sprint advertised were the evo line, until the s3.

Well..I've only had this phone since this Friday but... judging from how zippy this one feels compared to most every thing out now...I'd say yes. Granted I'm coming from a GS2 but so far I really like this one.

Just curious, what made you decide on this rather than the One or S4?
Well unforeseen circumstances forced me to buy a phone outright off contract . So at first I asked about the galaxy s4 and the Sprint rep said that they could not sell it off contract... something about because it has a SIM card :what: BUT...I still have an upgrade coming a little later, probably around the time the Galaxy Note 3 is out and what ever else comes out by then.

I agree not as much development but how much do we really need we have the main AOSP ROMs with a few minor bugs, we have tweaked stock all we really need is sense 5 which is coming soon. The camera is garbage in low light situations but in good lighting it is nice.

When is your upgrade? If it's within 6 months then it would have been a lot cheaper to pay the early upgrade fee and got an s4 or one than to pay outright

I definitely would, but I would like to see one with 64GB internal or better yet, a microSD slot. I find myself constantly moving stuff off from my phone to computer to make space (photos, videos, backups).
Nope. I'm in fact in the process of getting rid every phone I've been on since the Photon (LGOG included) and going back to the Photon or the Atrix. Every one of them has been a downgrade and a waste of silicon in my eyes.

And most of those "ROMs" are themes and copycat tweaks distributed as ROMs. So the Galaxy phones have a couple true ROMs and a ton of themes pretending to be ROMs.

By all means you guys are more then welcome to set up to the plate. Sorry there is a lack of dev support for this phone, but the people have worked on this phone have worked very hard. You have no idea. We put in 3 months or so into getting you guys working Aosp. Getting everything working was a total pain in the ass. LGs implementation of EFS was a night mare to get passed, but we came up with a good solution. We probably lost 10 phones or so before we figured it out. I know I personally had two replacements. So be happy for what you have. I know for a fact all of the roms in the original dev section are working and stable. I was actually thinking to myself yesterday that I am actually starting to like this this phone (even though it has been a total ***** to me through the entire process).
If you get a chance. Thank Shelnutt2, thecubed, Autoprime, dvxher and Synergy when you get a chance. Also, Mike_77, Redmk, chachin, Interloper, ilkinansr92 and last but not least my favorite tester Theo2889. Without these guys none of this would ever of happened.

Guys like this are a big reason I WOULD buy another Optimus.
We may not have a million ROMs like the SIII, but I have maintained from day one that this is a good thing for us. Our ROMs are stable, functional, and well supported. The Quality v Quantity theory. The devs that we have are committed and really produce some great work. Even builds that have been labeled as "unstable", in my experience, have been pretty danged stable.
Additionally, I think that LG really knocked it out of the park with the hardware on this phone. I would love to see an SD card slot, but haven't really had need for one thanks to cloud services, I would just like the option. I would like to see a better sensor on the camera, but let's be honest, if you want glamour shots you should buy a camera, not a phone. Other than that, I literally have no complaints about this Optimus G and I go so far as to say that it is the best phone I have owned to date. I cannot wait to see what it does when they finally deploy LTE in Denver, but that's sprints problem.

Who came from GNEX

After reading a few posts, I see that a few people besides myself came from a GNEX. How many of us are there, and how are you liking the One? I love it, but wish we had S-OFF. I know it will be soon though.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk 4
I came from the gnex. I love the one! My one was sent to sonic for s-off! The one gets better after a good debloating or a custom rom!
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk 4
I also came from the gnex and was lucky enough to unlock before VZW killed the tool. Been rooted on stock for a while now, and while I can say that Sense 5 is decent enough, I really missed the stock android feel. And using Nova Launcher just wasn't good enough.
So this morning I flashed it to the CyanogenMod 10.2 nightly. I have to say I feel at home again, aside from a few bugs that aren't necessarily show stoppers. Now using the interface I had before, I have to say I don't miss the gnex all that much.
It's not much bigger, and is a whole lot faster. Gotta admit, though, the reason I picked this over the GS4 was the front facing speakers. EVERY PHONE SHOULD HAVE SPEAKERS ON THE FRONT! The nexus speaker was just sad.
<shrug>
I was a day one purchaser of the GNex. Thought I was the coolest kid in town. Then the battery issues started. And the reception issues. I would have to carry a backup battery to make it thru the day. If that phone didnt have a removable back cover and had that battery, I would have upgraded long ago. I had the standard and extended battery (from Verizon) and both covers started to lose their fit.
I love the premium feel of the One. I'm getting much better reception in my location. LTE speeds are quite improved. And the glorious battery life, it may not be the best, but coming from a GNex, it's worlds better. The screen, hardware, reception, and battery were reasons enough for me to upgrade.
I will miss the multitude of ROMs the GNex had and its openness, excluding the Verizon aspect. Moving from stock to sense will be an adjustment, but one I'm kinda interested in. I'm getting used to the cap keys again. This is my first HTC phone personally, although I have rooted and s-offed some of the older models. I've been around touchwhiz and decided it wasn't for me. Also, the plastic feel of the s4 wasn't very appeasing.
Overall, I'm happy I made the decision to move on the One. The GNex is retiring and heading out to pasture with the OG Droid.
Peace,
:good::good::good:

I came from the Galaxy Nexus.
I came from the gnex and could not be happier. The only issue I have with the phone is I keep hitting the speaker button with my cheek when I am on the phone.

I also came from the Galaxy Nexus. While I do miss how easy it was to unlock and root, I'd gladly trade it for my One. Especially now that Sonic is going to S-Off my One.
The battery life and reception issues ultimately ended up being a deal breaker for me.

Is your proximity sensor off? My HTC One detects my face being near the phone and shuts the screen off. When I pull the phone away, it comes back on.
Me too
I came from the GNex and love my new One! I miss the GNex in a few ways but I'm s-Off'd, unlocked and rooted on the One. Go Sonic!
I came from the GNex. No looking back even without root.
did the shuffle to get here from the GNexus and am very satisfied. Phone feels, looks and operates great, even with S-ON. I plan on shipping mine out to get it S-OFFd and see if I can't get back to the 'stock" feel.
Wow there really are a lot of GNEX owners that came to this phone. I am extremely satisfied with the One myself.

Came from the GNex and flashed tons of roms and mods. Started with the S4 out of impatience and ended up switching to the One. Definitely enjoy the One far more than the S4 out of the box. S-Offed, unlocked and rooted but have no desire to flash anything right now. I'm sure that'll change at some point but this is the first phone that I haven't wanted to dump the manufacturers skin of android immediately.

Another former Gnex user here! Loved that phone, but it was time to move on. I miss the hacking and massive dev support, but android is so flexible even Verizon can't ruin such a beautiful phone
Going from an hour of screen time to over 4x that some days, Im in love
Can't wait until the hard working devs crack this bad boy open and really allow us to show what its made of!!

Had a GNEX for almost 2 years. Loved it. Did a quick stint with the S3 which I was not all that fond of. The HTC One is by far, the best smart phone I have ever had. Even without unlock and root, still an amazing device.
I came from the nexus too. Got the gnex right on launch day and same with the one. Missed out on the unlock though so I might go back to the gnex for a week if I decide to send the one to sonic.

Also came from the GNex. The speed, battery and radios of the One are definitely in another class compared to the GNex. Hopefully things will open up for the One when 4.3 or 4.4 roll around (Verizon...). Still thinking about sending away for S-off.
I too came from the GNex. I was one of those guys that thought I must have an AOSP based UI, but I have no problem using the Sense UI. Not as ugly and bloated as TouchWiz. I am currently back on my GNex using CyanogenMod 10.2 while my phone is being S'Off'ed. I cannot stand the bloatware that Verizon added to the phone. While back on the GNex, I am plagued with radio problems because of it being on 4.3. I am an extremely happy HTC One owner.
