Dump current ROM into ROM.zip file - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I am looking for a way to dump my current setup into a ROM.zip that would be flash able. What tools would I use? Goal is to be able to use the autopatcher to make a pdoid patch.
ROM is stock JRO03O from VZW. But small mods have been done to get it to where i want it.

Easiest way would be make a nandroid and run through dsixda kitchen.
Other methods are more fun but will require some effort.

Can you provide links to other methods?

You can do it in CWM now
Backup & restore >> create image zip

Cool beans. I use TWRP but may switch back.

Ok, I downloaded CWM 6.0.1.0 from CWM site, flash_image'd it real quick, loaded it, did a nandroid, and cannot find the option to create image.zip
What am I missing?

Can I use ROM Factory or is that going to be an issue? Anyone have experience with ROM Factory on the Toro?

Barg! RomFactory made the zip, but autopatcher could not probe the romtype.

Look in the development forum for a cwm thread there are newer builds I forget in which build that feature was introduced. I know its in 6.0.1.14

Wow, hard to find it. I found some copy and it appears to work, but can you share a link if possible?

I have a GSM model but this is what I found in the Toro thread

Thanks, that is what I found and used.

[GUIDE] Flash Image GUI [Joeykrim] Flash recovery or kernel without PC

All credit goes to Joeykrim for his outstanding work.
Download his flash image app from the market here
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.joeykrim.flashimagegui&hl=en
You then download either your kernel image or your recovery image.
Navigate to it within the app. Tick flash and voila your good to go!
No Need for your PC and fastboot!
I did flash twrp and can verify it does work
Change name of image to recovery.img
* I believe an update does not require this step now *

It only has choices for kernel or recovery at this time

very nice!!! it's to bad root is a prerequisite, because this would be very helpful for initial recovery/root flashing on a new unrooted phone. It's not like hooking up a usb is that hard, but anything that can be done without it, IMO, is a good thing
Great find thanks for sharing.
This will stay on my phone..thanks and great find!

Flash Image GUI is a must have. I've experienced kernels that just wouldn't flash right for me in recovery and FI always did the trick.

Smileys Patch For Messages

Dear friends,
Today I decided to compile a slightly modified Messages application. In this version I changed the rules of smileys so that the system recognizes not only the "long" version (eg or ) but also the "reduced" version (eg or ).
I also added other smileys not present by default (eg :'D or -_-). You can find the table with all the smileys below.

The apk is based on the last nightly of CM 10.1 for Galaxy Nexus GSM (maguro) and I don't know on which other device and other ROM it will work.
I think this belongs in the Themes and Mods section but nice work anyways.

As I specified in the first post, I tried this only with CM10.1, so I don't know.
I think if it does not work, it will not install either (because it is installed as an update of the installed Messages application and you can remove this simply uninstalling the update).
But I don't assure anything.
Make a backup before trying, so you go safe!
If someone of you tried the mod on a different configuration (eg different ROM) please let us know.
It can be very helpful for other users.
Thank you :highfive:

20gb of misc. things...

How can I fix this? I have the legacy/user folders (media/0/0/0). I've also made a few backups if that's what's taking up my storage. Any help is appreciated. I am a noob.
I am on the newest paranoid android ROM.

Thanks leopard. So I was right.. All these back ups I made is taking up a lot of space.
Can anyone point me to the directory if where these are... Also is it safe to delete these backups? Any help is appreciated.

The file structure in the GUI is the same as you'd expect on your "sdcard". Your backups are in "/sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/"
Yes, its perfectly fine to delete them. Just make sure you're happy with your current configuration and you wont be wanting to revert back to one of those backups.
I would go ahead and WIPE the Titanium Backups as well. With a folder that large, I can only assume you have old app versions there and there is no point on having outdated apps when you have the latest.

EFS help

Hi,
First of all apologies - I know this isn't dev but I wanted to post in here hoping that someone will see this and reply quickly.
I've just purchased a new nexus 5 and was about to sell my GNEX (literally later today) but have somehow managed to corrupt my <naughty word> efs partition.
Could someone please be kind enough to tell me what files they see in /factory. I think I have a non standard backup of the files but I'm not 100% sure what to do with them (yet).
Thanks in advance!
Ah balls Looks like I figured how how to restore my backup of the files but it still has the generic IMEI

Odin to stock. Or...if u have any any working nandroids at all simply restore that partition only.

I've tried odin to stock but it didn't fix the generic IMEI issue - I used odin files from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2065470
I did select the PIT file
Should this have fixed the issue?
Efs.img in my gnex was in
/Dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/by-name
I sold my gnex, but I can ask for screenshots of factory folder if you want
I will post as sono as possible

Think you will have to do it this way-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565972

Unfortunetaly i cannot use odin because my phone WILL NOT CONNECT TO MY COMPUTER. the usb/charge port on the phone is bad, and its not under warrenty. sorry for the caps, but since it wasnt read the first time i figured a bit more force was necessary.
but i found a solution to my own problem. i extracted the recovery image from the mk3 tar.md5, and created a CWMR flashable zip. once i have tested it i will upload in case anyone wants/needs it
stock recovery for MK3 for flashing in CWMR.
Thank you so much. I've been looking everywhere for this flashable zip.
