[Q] JellyTime, QR Droid and focusing - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello All,
I recently took the plunge and installed the JellyTime ROM on my DHD. Overall I am impressed and a big thank you goes to RB for all the hard work ... however I use QR Droid and since going to JT it no longer seems to auto focus and as a consequence struggles to reads codes.
Has anyone else noticed this and do they have a fix?
I have tried other code reader apps some focus some do not but I would prefer to stay with QRD if possible because I like the way it is laid out and works.
Thanx in advance
LyghtSyde

Hi Lyghtsyde,
have you got any news or fix? I installed Jellytime few days ago and I have the same issue. I found out QuickMark as a good alternative but it cant be run while long pressing the search button on Desire HD as I was used to before with QRDroid.

Hi, short answer no, I now use I-nigma and QR reader, both work fine LS

I suggest NeoReader. It works the best, you just point it towards wherever you want it to scan and it reads it instantly.

Thank you guys! I tried all the three. Especially NeoReader is really fast . One thing still missing.. When long pressing Search button, I can't choose neither of them to quickly start reading... It looks like I will have to live with that fact

[Q] Multitouch kernel?

Hi Guys,
I've seen that there are a couple of kernels that support up to 10 touch inputs, invisiblek for Incredible for example. I wonder, is there something similar for the Desire? I'm on Oxygen RC6, would it be possible to patch the kernel in case?
I've tried searching the forum but I couldnt find anything...
Why would you want 10 touches? I can't think of a single app that used more than 2 touches
Sent from my CyanogenMod Desire HD
That's true and I do not want 10 touches, I won't even see the touch screen at that point I was just wondering, for the sake of it

Even the simple pinch to zoom is not that good.
Try to rotate in the new Google Maps, you'll see what I mean.
If that would work as it should, i'd be happy. But i don't think that's possible since the Desire has no real Multitouch built in.

Gps & camera

Hi all,
Facing a problem with my gps 'n' hope you can help:
When launching an apk like AugSatNav or IOnroad, the gps signal keeps cutting and remains on searching.
Only when heading back to normal navigation, the signal comes back....
I think the link is the combination camera+gps (since A/R), but have no solution.
HTC support simply indicates that there's no problem with my gps, great help....
Thanks for your feedback.
Cheers

Hi, 've seen tt quite some people saw the post, but no reply....
Does it mean that I'm the only one having this issue???
For info, i'm now rooted, will another ROM solve my problem (this one as well as linking a bt keyboard)?
Txs ;-)

Thanks, any idea which should do the job? Revolution (i like sense), or cm7?
And is there à 1-click like the ace hack kit?
Saw something with ROM manager and titanium back up (for installing all apk again), but i'm no hero..... ;-)

I would go with a CM based rom as it is the only one I have seen that will work with a BT keyboard.
No there is no one click rom install but with enough reading it is very simple
Finally dared. ... and flashed cm7. Indeed via rommanager easy !!!
Bt. Keyboard ok (yesssssss !!!!), but still facing same problem with my gps /camera : as soon as i have a signal and launch either iOnRoad or AugSatNav which needs the camera, the signal gets liste.....
Any idéals? Would be strange that DHD doesn't accept A/R......
Thanks in advance,
Cheers

Hi Dutch, I have the same problem, I'm trying to video my cycle commute (sick of being near-missed by cars). None of the apps I have tried will allow GPS to work while recording video. Daily Roads states the following, which is the clearest description of the issue i have found [at dailyroads.com/voyager/issues]
"GPS issues on the HTC Desire HD - a GPS fix can not be acquired, or is quickly lost. There seems to be a camera/GPS conflict on the hardware/firmware level in this phone, as all video recording applications affect the GPS signal. Suggested fix: disable GPS in the app's General settings (feature available only starting with version 1.6)."
Not a great help, I know, but at least an indication that there may be nothing we can
do! As my first post I'm a bit wary of noobing the bosses (having watched their very funny video - everyone should have one!) I will poke about a bit more. let me know if you find anything!

[Q] Are GPS and videorecording compatible ?
Hi, txs for the thread indeed. Txs to Robert found a walkaround being the usage of an external b/t gps.
This works (at least for me).
By the way, no realistic answer from HTC: don't use third party apps, just the preinstalled htc ones and you won't face problems .....
Cheers

Anyone find a better fix for this issue?
Hi, my GPS also had issues than i used the app GpsFix
and than it worked a lot smoother for me. But I only tested it on the original 2.3.3 rom without root.
The issue is not that gps does not work but that it will not work while the camera is on.

[Q] The Bogmonster - I have a virtual keyboard working in ICS Beta 3r3.1 & Beta 4r1
Hi all,
First post so excuse the NooBness!
Ok I've just installed the [BETA 3r3.1]Desire S ICS AOSP PORT|WORKING! rom on my DZ- having great fun playing with it - amazed so much of it actually works so soon.
My question is this, from what I can see (don't crucify me if I've missed a post somewhere) everyone is complaining about the lack of the virtual touch keyboard for number entry etc?
Well I have one working! (in portrait mode only at the minute) am I the only one?
Keep up the great work devs!
I've been following it pretty close and haven't seen anyone that has a working v-keyboard. What steps did you take? Install certain applications? Flash a certain zip/kernel?
I smell a troll.

How did you do it?

I read on another post that someone had tried to install the ROM as an upgrade from a CM7 build so I also gave it a try (it sort of works for most apps but breaks others) but I found that it had kept my HTC_IME modded keyboard already installed on my CM7 nightly and that in portrait mode the keyboard did actually work!
I decided to see if it would work on a full wipe install also so I did a superwipe G2+ and then install the apk's for ES file explorer and then my HTC_IME keyboard.
Enabling the keyboard in the normal way, then on the first couple of tries you have to select the keyboard from the notification area manually but after that it works ok.
The spell checking marks every work as wrong but i don't normally use that anyway.
but it works.
A few more screenshots
A few more screenshots of the HTC_IME keyboard working.
Still only portrait (but with the phys keybrd available it's not an issue) but fully usable - voice input works fine too.
If anybody else want to try it I've attached the keyboard apk as well.
Thanks

Hmm, I only have an arm up my sleeve - c'mon what's the trick Wolves boy?
Just tried this and it kinda works. Rebooting to see if it sticks.
Edit: get force close when trying to use auto fill. Turn it off and it works a charm. As stated only in portrait.

does it work with any other keyboard or is it strictly the modded one?

I did try Swiftkey X as well as the HTC_IME but Swiftkey seemed to have problems popping up, and I prefer the HTC one myself anyway
OdieSam reports he's now fixed the built-in soft keyboard for the next Beta.
I'll probably stick with the HTC as it's my standard one though.
All that's needed are a fixed camera, reliable Wifi and SD USB mounting and it's pretty much a workable ROM
Has anyone got handcent working reliably on it yet though?

I've shook it more than the wife but with no success ? Wonder is its cm9 it don't like
not working here
Hi Sonar doesn't appear to work and there are no obvious settings on my sgs2 running checkrom. Emailed the support and will see what they say
I've been trying to research this since I updated this morning
I have shaken my phone like crazy but nothing, I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times from the android market too. I'm on the HTC thunderbolt with liquid smooth rom
It seems that it has issues with select roms, I'm using aokp now and it works fine. But it does not work with cyan
It didn't work for me until I installed "voice search" (google).
I had previously removed that app thinking I wouldn't want to use it. When I uninstall voice search again, sonar is also not available in dolphin. Installing it again makes it available again.
Running CM7 on HTC Desire
beta no sonar
Hi
Just had reply from support and must say first class service.
It turns out I was on the beta version. Just updated to version 7.4.1 from market and now it works fine.
Now to have a play, voice recognition on first look seems accurate.
P.s. I am running checkrom revohd v 6 its outstanding
Get rid of Sonar
Hi all,
How do I get rid of Sonar? I don't see a setting to disable it. A slight shake and it brings it up. I don't want to talk to my browser in a restroom. Everyone will think I am crazy!!!

Shake or click doesn’t work... It is a bug! I get latest beta apk from dolphin support and seems the issue is fixed now. If you wanner a try, here is the downlink link http://bit.ly/AxuFi8.
I agree with the statement made above. This will work great, as long as you have Google Voice installed
Samsung Captivate
Running MIUI v3.9.7
Google voice
DBHD v7.5.1
drules: open up sonar, then go to the settings(top right). From there you can disable it.

S Voice? Well, it depends

Hey guys...
Just heard about S Voice. It sounds even better than siri. So I gave it a try on our device with CM9 alpha2.
So here it is:
The major function is OK, concerning listening and giving answers. Mount Everest's height can be found, weather OK, and even silly questions.
But the problem is here...
First, it is not quite responsive. Sometimes the button does not respond. However it can be worked around by re-launching it.
Second, the integration with local data does not work. Whenever I tell it to create a new task and/or calendar event, it crashes.
Third, it is not customizable. When you try to change the wake up phrase, it crashes. Worse still, you have to clear the data of the app to revive it.
Na.
Well, just asking if any developer is interested in making it work in our device?
