Verified working on Sprint version after many fails with this (http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-g/218147-how-root-sprint-g-optimus-g-windows-only.html)

I rooted my phone earlier today, and now when I make phone calls my screen turns off and I can not turn it back on during the conversation. Once the other line hangs up, then the screen becomes active again.

If you used that method there, it will install SuperSU. If you go to settings in SuperSU there is a button to fully unroot the device.

[Q] Someone please help with downgrade

Hi everyone I have been working at this forever now and I am not sure what to do. I will first say that I am very new at this. I have an incredible which I got root access to by watching and repeating the steps on the you tube video. Without thinking I then manually updated to the 2.2 froyo manually. I have lost my tethering among other things and I was wanting to downgrade so that I can start over from scratch so I don't mess anything up. The only problem is that I can seem when following the you tube videos to get the the green recovery screen. Is that the clockwork recovery boot program because I never installed anything like that. I look forward to all of your help and support. Thanks Pat

Not sure if you turned S-OFF, or not, but it's a good idea to leave S-OFF unless you're returning it to the store, so just omit the part about turning it on.
Any questions, let me know.
Hey I tried that but it will not work.
you've gotta be a little more specific..what specifically doesn't work? What step is causing you trouble..etc...........................................

I was just trying to help someone on another forum, this is the guide I used to revert prior to an RMA but now it is marked out... Whats up with that? Anyway, here is what Dadicus says in that thread... toget back to stock just install this file via HBOOT:

I talked to dadicus, and he said he marked it out because he hadn't tried it yet, and wanted to incorporate S-ON into it as well. He'll unmark it out once he's tried it and verified it works. I've followed it word for word (excluding the S-ON) part at least 5 or 6 times, and it's worked.

[rom] basic stock rom

Here's a basic stock rom in case you need it sometime
the only modifications made are the su and flash_image binaries are included and ro.secure has been turned to 0 so you can adb remount.
How to flash download the rom from here
Place rom on sdcard
wipe data and all else
then flash rom
reboot and do what you need to do
Cool, you never know when you might need this.
Thank you! Appreciated.

How is this comparable to the rom listed here?
bit ly backslash fBEJnU
I want to have a known working recovery before I make any more changes to my phone. I am not exactly a newbie to this stuff (I have a Pandigital Novel that has been rooted and hacked into a nice tablet) but this is taking things to a whole new level for me and I need my phone. So I'm a bit nervous.
Of course I really wish I'd asked around some before I got to work on removing some of the stuff on it already (mostly known junkware from Virgin Mobile and stupid stuff like weblinks pretending to be native apps) after rooting it with superoneclick and installing root explorer. I need to know if your rom or the one I linked to will be able to allow me to roll back to a default installation that I can revert to if there are any issues down the road. Can you help me?
I apologize if this isn't the right place for this question. Thank you for the many mods I have seen you do already. I look forward to trying them once I have a fallback plan.

I'm not actually sure what your talking about but I've posted this on three different sites so far. I do that for the guys that don't go to other forums. There probably isn't any difference in the roms.

I'm talking about the one by takehull posted on sdx-developers here.
Yours is not exactly stock since you added su and flash_image binaries--or does that really not matter?
Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure exactly how his is different since I didn't build it. I'm gonna guess and say his probably doesn't have the binaries in it, I'm not sure exactly how his is different since I didn't build it. I'm gonna guess and say that his doesn't have the binaries in it. I don't know. Honestly the only way to know for sure that it's stock rom is to get someone that hasn't rooted yet flash the recovery and get a backup of system. I've been waiting for someone like that to come along but ... It hasn't happened yet.
I won't tell you which forums to watch but I'm partial to xda cuz I been on here since my first android phone and it doesn't have those flash ads that pop up cover your entire screen until you click the x.

My only excuse is that it was late when I found the thread and I wasn't reading clearly. Going by that statement his rom and your rom basically seem to be the same things.

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't rooting actually a requirement of obtaining the backup? Or did I misread the instructions somewhere? It'd be nice if someone at Virgin Mobile were to leak the complete rom somewhere so people had a fall back option besides trying to return the phone as bricked. (If that's even possible?)

Sounds like a good reason to pick a forum. Not sure if I'm a member of any places that do that since I run with adblock and noscript enabled most of the time.
Any chance you could link me to written instructions on how to flash the rom you have here? I know you have video tutorials but those are harder to follow for me because I am hard of hearing. Music I can do because it is "beautiful noise" and I can usually find some lyrics to get the words of. Your video HOWTOs are not good for me because I have to strain to hear what is being said.
Thanks again for your time and patience in replying to me.
--bornagainpenguin
Thanks. Dude above me, there is a rom flashing tutorial at prepaidandroids.net. We will help you out there. Its a site that specializes in on the Optimus v itself.
(Optimus V - Contracts Suck)
Thanks for posting this. It just came in handy when I was changing my virgin phone number. Part of the process is dialing ##841446# to bring up the activation menu, but the ## prefix on CM7 does not work, apparently only a stock ROM can do that.
Any way to put it on a phone friendly site? No matter what browser I use on my phone it will not download from google docs.

THANKS, this worked perfectly.
It's pretty much as described, a stock Opt V rom, with Super User already set up and installed.
Titanium worked on it no problem as well.
thanks a ton man! i needed to flash back to stock to get my 3G working again. if you flash a custom rom while youre between payments, you know, during down time, you may need to flash back to stock and run the activation app next time you put service on your phone.
worked like a charm. i thought my 3G was broken. im doing a happy dance now!
Anyway I can get a link to the stock rom with all the bloatware removed but not rooted?

[q] need help

Well last evening i went to plug in my phone to charge and the charge port and usb end were burning hot and it kind of smelled like burning electronics....go figure....phone is still fully functional. however i rooted with alpharevx and have cwd recovery installed. what is the fastest and easiest way to get the original recovery on it and unroot. i thought i remember reading a while back about unrooting with alpharevx but i couldnt seem to find it again.
if someone could get me the info i would appreciate it. i have plans on going to a store later today. now i can only get my phone to charge right if i have the plug tilted a certain way...seems the usb port possibly came loose and is making things overheat. even tried like 3 different chargers. thanks everyone.
You can try this. It should get you back to a stock state.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15813924&postcount=1
Not sure if it will remove the AlphaRevX on the bootloader screen, but that is a stock RUU for our phones.
Just download it, rename it to PG32IMG.zip, place it on the root of your SDCARD, boot into the bootloader and let the phone find the update, press volume up to start the update.
so i just load this and this will unroot and everything??
I cant guarantee that it will unroot you. But by flashing that, you will get the stock Froyo that came on your phone.
I have read that if you flash the GB release that it unroots you, but I'm not finding a link to it anywhere lol
You can try installing HTCSYNC on you PC and let it do the update for you.

Do you know if this will put the original recovery back on it?

I can't walk you through since I haven't done it myself, but the link I posted above works. You have to replace the bootloader. Just flashing the RUU doesn't give you s-off. Check the android forums thread I linked, the poster did it successfully. He used the method in JCase's tutorial from Rootzwiki.
do mean exporting the rom.zip from the ruu....when runnning that it said it couldnt replace the bootloader.
No, I believe the guy in android forums followed the rootzwiki method here http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=1766&p=39759. He said you have to follow it exactly. Be careful when you're replacing the bootloader. You could brick your phone if done wrong.
Edit: I searched some more. This method may only work if you used AlpharevX to root. If you used Revolutionary, the method may be a little different. I believe the bootloader is different for revolutionary.
The method will be similar, but I'm not sure if anyone has written a tutorial yet. You may want to start searching google and looking around on the forums

how to root and 4.0.4 OTA update

Hi,
I just got the phone and have looked thru the forums and I have yet to find a definitive thread on how to root a ATT Samsung S3. Can someone point me in the right direction as the root hits I find all say my phone needs to be a I9300 and mine is a I747.
Also does anyone know what was fixed in the OTA updated that came out 4.0.4? Will this affect me being able to root the phone?
Thanks in advance...Todd

HEY!
Ok so im not completely sure which update 4.0.4 is but I think there has only been one so far right? the one that nerfs google search. Anyway, Here is a link to the guide that i used (after I did the update) and i followed the steps and the comment posted by danK in the comments. He said "If you’ve updated to newer software update, the stock OS will over-write ClockworkMod Recovery on reboot. To fix this, make sure “auto-reboot” is checked off in ODIN, then take the battery out when it’s done flashing in ODIN. Then enter ClockworkMod Recovery right away. " Doing this let me root my phone with zero issues.

Root ZTE Concord

Need some help or a link to instructions on rooting this phone, This is a T-mobile no contract phone, made by ZTE Phone is running Gingerbread 2.3.7 Since this phone is new on the market is their a similar phone I can look at as an example of how to root it?
Thanks in advance
..
Okay here is what I have tried so far, Superoneclick gets to step 7 waiting on device and hangs up. Have tried the Zurg rush tool, when it attempts to do an adb remount it fails with a msg operation not permitted. So I'm stuck now, so anyone with some ideas or insight please chime in, thanks
Just another update the UniversalAdroot apk does not work, anyone with any ideas?
Still looking for help, since this phone is relatively inexpensive, there is going to be a lot of them out there. And a lot of people looking to root them. Just hoping someone will give me assistance as this will also be solution for others as well.

Hi
So far, anyone found a way to root the ZTE V768 (Concord) ?
Anyway to upgrade to 3.0?
Thanks
Michel
I too would like to see this rooted. Then maybe I can delete some of those factory installed apps I would never use.
ZTE lists a way to manually upgrade the firmware for a Concord (V768) with a PC running Windows. Maybe it can be used somehow to root this device?
I can't post the link because I'm a new user, but just search for the Concord on the ZTE USA website.

So did anyone figure out how to get this phone unlocked?
BTW I'm surprised how little support there is for this phone considering it's the cheapest tmobile android option by far.
