[Q] Home button wake problem - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

This is frustrating. If I wake my phone by pressing the Home button i get taken to my designated home screen and not to the open app. The same does not happed if i wake the phone with the power button. This really annoys me in situations where i have the phone on a desktop as i have to use two hands to wake the phone!
Is there a way to change the action of the home button in this situation?
UPDATE: Problem solved. Enable a lockscreen! That was easy

Help - Volume up button brings me to home screen!!

Hi,
I have a AT&T Tilt2 on which suddenly the volume rocker up button stop working as volume button and then brings me to the home screen from within any app!! I am unable to figure out why this would happen - its a stock AT&T ROM with some apps that I installed like - OperaBeta, HDWallS, Resco.
Even when I hold down the call drop button for sometime, the device does not lock! It vibrates but does nothing - just shows me the home screen.
Any idea on why this would happen ? has anyone seen this happen to their cell too ?
Thanks
Dhanvi
My volume buttons occasionally acts up too. They suddenly act as up and down keys rather than volume up and down keys. Very rarely though. A soft reset makes it go away each time.
...guess it was having an identity crisis...
I've been having problems with my volume buttons. And soft reseting doesn't solve the problem. The volume buttons work in the lock screen. But when i'm at the home screen they just open and close the volume screen.
I have a tilt 2 with the stock rom.

[Q] Home button wake vs. power button

so it seems i can wake the phone with either the home button or the power button. thats all good. the problem is when im using poweramp with its lockscreen enabled. if i wake the phone with the power button, the poweramp lockscreen immediately appears. if i wake the phone with the home button, i get the normal lockscreen and then after a couple seconds, the poweramp lockscreen appears. i cant find any settings anywhere that would possibly treat home button wake differently than power button wake. anyone else notice this or know of a setting somewhere im maybe missing?

Does anyone else have this horribly annoying issue?

If I am in an application and my screen turns off, I hit the home button to wake the screen and then it takes me to the desktop instead of the last app I was in? Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Would help you you state which app or all apps. The Home Button function is to go to the Home Screen.
To make the Home Button take you to the last app you were in, press and hold. It will give you a recent apps page.
That also has the task manager and Google options.

I don't think that's what he's refering to. If my screen is off(aka in sleep mode), when I press the home button to wake the screen back up, that's all the home button does with that press. It only wakes the screen up and leaves me where the phone was, when it went to sleep. If I press the home button, when the phone is awake, then yes, it does take me to the home screen.
To the OP,
I tried it with Touch Wiz and Nova Launcher, even using the app "nolocK' to lock/prevent locking of the screen. In all instances, when the screen was off and I hit the home button, it woke the screen up, but left me at in the same place where it went to sleep at.
Thanks so much chuck. Thats exactly what I am referring to. I have nova installed but I am having this problem. I wonder if it is some setting I have enabled.
I just installed no lock and messed with a lot of settings in nova. Same problem where if I wake the screen with the home button it takes me to the desktop and not my most recent app. Argg
i have this problem only when i have the on-screen nav bar. if i disable that it works fine. it's somewhat odd.

use the power button instead. works fine. home button does exactly what it is named for. takes you to your home screen.
Cant wait to try your rom t3! The home button never worked like this in the past. I am used to having home wake my screen and just want it the way it was.
Yeah, If the phone has just shut off and you press the home key it takes me back home, not to the app I was in. In this case I have to press the power button. I dont remember it doing this on the gs3. I remember hitting the home key if my phone shut off to turn it back on and it resumed where i left off.

Home button behavior w/ jb & no lock screen

I don't use any lock screen and I always use the home button to wake my phone up.
Since official JB, the home button not only wakes the phone up but it closes the app I'm in. Example : I'm browsing something on chrome, the screen turns off bc of timeout, I wake the phone using the home button and I see chrome back but immediatly it closes down like if I had pressed the home button again (but I didn't). The same behavior does not happen when a lock screen is enabled.
I tried searching for an answer and tried the solution of editing the .kl files in system/usr/keylayout by adding WAKE_DROPPED or replacing WAKE with WAKE_DROPPED for every occurence of the home key (key 172) without luck. I tried fixing the permissions in CWM and I made sure the permissions are rw-r-r.
Running stock rooted with CWM.
Any other ideas? Thx!
I'm also curious about this. My temporary fix was to unfreeze S Voice in Titanium and then enable the double press of the home button to start S Voice.
I'd rather keep S Voice frozen and still keep the same behaviour of the home button in ICS.

Yes that does work indeed. However, it brings back the lag when pressing the home button. I'm also using home2 shortcut for some shortcuts and it completely breaks them!
The same problem arises also when you long press the home button to get to recent apps, if you have an app open in the background at that moment and you press the home button to get out of the recent app screen, it closes the app!

Home button lag with disabled lockscreen

So heres my problem in a nutshell:
When I press the home button, my phone unlocks (I have no lockscreen), however it takes me to the home screen. Whereas if I hit the power button, the screen turns on where I left off. This is the expected behavior.
If I go into S-Voice, and select "Open via the home key", the home key unlocks the phone correctly, but I have to deal with the home button lag issue.
So, how do I get the best of both worlds? No lockscreen, no home button lag, and no issue with using the home button to wake the phone.
I could do without S-Voice all together so if thats an option Im OK with it.

I wasn't happy with the speed of the home button, I took off the double tap for svoice and I'm much happier not sure if that helps you
