[Q] On demand pop-up browser? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I like the idea of the pop up browser, but would only use from time to time. For apps asking how to open up a link, I tell them to open using my default browser always because that's how I want to view most of the time.
Is there a way to call up the pop up browser on demand from links? I'm thinking if I could long tap a link or double tap a link, it could open the link in the pop up browser. Keep in mind the source of the link could be any app, another browser, G+, Facebook, etc.
I know there is a mod to launch a stand alone popup browser, but I don't think that solves what I am asking about.

The developers of Air Calc have had a floating browser for a long time. They are currently making it available for 4.0+ android devices, i believe. I tried to download it to my Note 2 but it is not yet available.

...or at least offer "open link in popup browser" as a choice...that would have been the right way to implement this, because heck if I'm going to leave the defaults off so that 99.99999% of the time when I click a link destined for a full browser I then have to select "Browser" and then press "Just Once" all to open a simple web page. At the very least they could have put in a checkbox in the app selector box that would select the tapped browser in "Just Once" mode the moment you tap, so you don't have to confirm each time.
Sorry, I don't have a solution, I'm just completely echoing your sentiment about this.

I have a bookmark on the home screen that is defaulted to the pop up browser.
It is the only way I know to get the pop up browser on demand.
I press and hold link, copy url, press home button, hit my bookmark (I renamed pop up), then paste the url.
Hope this helps.

You can set the pop-up browser as default and hit the button on the top left to open the page up in the regular explorer.
Only problem is that this will open the stock browser. Which is frustrating if you usually use a third party browser like me!
Does anybody know how to make the top left button in the pop-up browser open Chrome rather than the stock browse?
That would be nice because I have all my data synced to Chrome.

Mine automatically opens in chrome when I click the top left button without setting anything up, I checked and there are no defaults set for either.

How did you accomplish this? Is there a pop up settings menu to set your default browser?
For everyone, floating browser flux in the play store might be an option.

Dolphin Browser Can't Reopen Previously Open Page After Closing?

Hi all, I'm currently using Dolphin Browser as I find it smoother than Chrome, and I also like how you can swipe from the left to get to bookmarks.
One thing I can't figure out though, is that if I close the browser from "Recent Apps" menu, the next time I open it again it'll just show a default page instead of the page I was looking at last. Is there a way I can set it up to show the previously viewed page? I couldn't find anything under Settings.

Well, when you think about it it's actually a good thing, when you exit dolphin it clears the cache and everything I use Dolphin to do my banking for that reason. So if you want to keep your things around don't kill the app.
Agh so I guess it's not possible then. Its just that sometimes I'll accidentally close it, in which case I'd lose what I was viewing.

Browser question

Hi all,
Before I venture into getting Dolphin or some other browser, looking to see if there are a couple of things the stock browser can do. Is there no way to get a button to go to the homepage? I know you can make a bookmark and go that route but one click is better than two. Also, is there no easy way to actually shut down the browser so when opening it the next time it opens to the homepage? How about clearing history, etc. on browser closing sort of thing. Do other browser have these sorts of functions?
Thanks,
Ho'okani

I searched far and wide on the expansive Play Store with the home page issue. The closest you're going to get is Boat Browser (Play Store link). It has a customizable bar at the bottom, where you can place a home button.
You can have it "prompt on exit" where you can check "clear records" and "do not ask me again." It clears the history and will automatically start your home page when you open it again. Boat Browser FTW!

Dolphin browser has the option to put the home button on the address bar - as well as the basic cache clear menu on exit.

Native Messenger app built-in browser question..

Is there a way to disable it? It's garbage. Is there a way to force links to open in default browser without having to select "open in browser" from the drop down menu?

I agree - I receive job notifications all day via text w/ links in them and on my Note 4 it worked fine, but on my new Note 7 it opens what I presume is a Webview minibrowser that only partially loads, I then had to use the drop down menu to load it into Chrome, which reloaded the page, which finally opened the link into the app that it was associated with in the system to begin with - WTH?!?!
So the only fix I found was to replace the stock app with the Google messaging app -

Google search defaults to Samsung's stock browser...

I use the long google whote bar at the top of my homescreen. Tapping on the search opens pages in Samsung's browser. any way to reroute this to chrome?
Weird, mine doesn't. It goes to the standard Google now browser which is powered by chrome. Upper right corner menu gives you the option to go directly to the chrome browser.

Yeah, if I touch the google letters, i type in a search, and it opens the seach within that minimal google search browser. But if I touch any link, it opens in samsungs browser.
Im talking about the long white bar that shows google on the left and say "ok google" next to a mic. the google seach widget i believe
Figured it out, just needed to set the default browser under apps.

Question Open links in browsers?

Hi All,
How do I open all app links directly to a browser. Currently I have 3 browsers would like a pop asking for which browser to open the link in. Instead it always opens in web view (inside all in dummy chrome). There's no default browser selected, I don't want a default. I use em all.

In general setting in each app, there is usually a setting for that.
