[Q] how to create firmware.zip out of OTA - HTC One X

Hello fellow earthling!
Acc. to my carrier, the JB OTA is gonna hit me soon. (Finally!) So I've been thinking about going back to stock in order to download and save the OTA file. (Which is going to be saved in /cache, right?)
=> My question:
From this update-file, how do I create a firmware.zip-file, like the one aviable on the CID thread?
Greetings from Switzerland,
BigFatTony

The OTA zip file contains the firmware.zip file so you just need to extract it.

people claim it gets downloaded in the Download(s) folder on your SD, or on the root of the SD (and is deleted if you apply it)
the OTA file should look something like this : OTA_ENDEAVOR_U....blablablbalblablablablab.zip
to extract the firmware just copy the ota file and open it on your pc and you will find firmware.zip if its included.

//SOLVED//
The OTA zip file contains the firmware.zip file so you just need to extract it.

Thank you very much! It's so simple, it's boring.
Thanks to you, too, Vcek. I'm sure I'll find it.
Have a nice evening.

creating a rom out of a original RUU

can anybody guide me through making a flashable zip from a rom.zip which i gained from a original RUU for my branded HTC one X? Problem here is that this ROM i want to create should not contain or do any hboot/firmwares updates as currently i am on a higher base then the current available RUUs for my phone. So because of this i cannot just install the original RUU to go back to the original branded ROM. Somebody told me that i have to take out the system.img to achive my goal, so thats what i also tried. i Extracted the system.img out of the rom.Zip and placed it in a new rom.zip folder without all the hboot.img and oder files.
This is how far i am for sow now:
-extracted the rom zip out of the ruu
-installed dsixdas ANdroid rom kichten
- did set up a working folder with the rom.zip from the original ruu
-tried to build a new rom out of the working folder in two ways ->
1. with the whole rom.zip containing everything original
2. rom.zip just containing the system.img
everytime i try to flash the built zip file, it gives me error in /sdcard/update.zip status 0 in recovery.
Is that right that i have to flash the stock kernel and recovery.img after sucessful flashing my own rom? What else should i do? Hope somebody could help me out!
what do i have to do now?
My main goal is to go back to my original branded rom so i can do the OTA updates which are available.
thank u in advance
anyone?

I tried the same things you did, My device is HTC Explorer (Pico) and got the same error message while flushing. You cant try putting META-INF folder from other custom rom and try to rebuild the rom. this trick worked for me once. I am no expert of creating rom I am a complete noob just sharing my experience. Do it with your own risk. Sorry for my bad English.

[Q] [Help] Missing bloatwareapps for OTA

Hello,
I recently uninstalled some (system / T-Mobile) apps with Titanium Backup. And I did not make a backup first. The phone still runs fine but the OTA fails.
I tried so far:
- RUU 1.28 -> does not work, because system is already 1.29
- find rom.zip and unpack -> Ok, but cannot unpack system.img, unyafs fails.
The file which the OTA misses, according to logfile is named: 4661_TMODE_Music_One.odex
If someone could sent me this file or upload it somewhere I would be thankful.
There is a good chance that there are more files missing, but the log stops after the first fail.
I see in the system.img that there are at least 4 files with similar names:
4661_TMODE_Music_One.odex
4661_TMODE_Music_One.apk
4662_TMDE_Games_One.odex
4662_TMDE_Games_One.apk
If anyone knows how to unpack these, this would also helpful.

I think the best way to get all your bloatware back is to lock the bootloader and then flash the 129 RUU. Here is the link for the RUU if its T-mobile uk.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/6y1...Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_260731_signed.exe
Once your back to stock you can unlock again with your unlock token, flash cwm and make a stock nandroid backup.
If you need a file factory password pm me.
No, it's T-Mobile Germany, so I guess this will not help.
At the moment I'm trying to unpack the files from the system.img, but none of the methods described in the forums are working.
It is almost crazy, I can see the filenames and contents (lots of "PK" headers for instance) within the system.img but I've no idea how to extract them.
Get in touch with football. He might be able to get the RUU for you.

Ok, tried that, waiting for the reply.
Meanwhile I'm able to mount the system image with some modifications as ext4 image and copy the contents. If there is an interest for this, I propably could write some tool to make this automatic.
Anyway, it did not help me, because the versions of the files in the image do not match the ones expected from the OTA.

[Q] How to downgrade my radio?

I updated my radio but not quite happy with the result. I try the PD98IMG.zip method, but the bootloader tells me that the zip is corrupted and no flash process starts.
I am not quote sure what kind of s-off sI have, but the phone was rooted the old way, no htc unlock.
The first line reads
Ace PVT SHIP S-oFF RL
Is it safe to try the Windows fastboot method.

Ok, I want to replace the radio II have, and I follow this instructions, but the flash process will not strat, fastboot says the img is invalid.
My question is - do I have to rename the zip I downloade, of the extracted img itself. I did it a few weeks ago but I cannot remmeber how I did it ??
I am downgrading!

if the zip file you download contains the .img file and and .txt file. then yes, rename it PD98IMG.zip and put that in the root of your sdcard. Make sure that md5sum checks....flashing radios is a delicate thing.
For further help use the guide in my signature...
checksum is OK, I tried, but no txt file ??
I saw it mentioned once, but cant find a link to it, what does it have to contain, encoding, etc?
The txt file was the problem, I had to add it. Here it is for anyone who might need it.

It contains the update script...find in the guide in my signature that there is one PD98IMG.zip empty folder....put the radio .img file in there and do a normal compress....then flash it in the bootloader as mentioned.

Yeah, I managed to flash I just added the script for anyone trying to go my route, since all radios come zipped, but do not contain the txt file
PS Zips made on ubuntu will refuse to flash, ??

um...maybe the wrong compression in the zip file...it has to be normal compression.

Most probably, cos just dropping the txt file there will be no problems.

[Q] OTA Download location?

Hi, my m8 just got an Lollipop OTA update. I'd like to extract the ota zip file from the phone, but i'm having hard time locating the file. Anybody know where the download location is?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58523173&postcount=6
You can only have the OTA.zip if you're not yet install the update.
Hmm....it's already been updated, and can't find the file in Download folder. However, I can see the file in the phone's "Download" app. Can't see it in other file browsers though =P

Then it's too late for you. The OTA.zip is deleted by the system after installation.
Just check this thread, maybe someone will upload the OTA.zip soon
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694297
finally found android 6 sense 7 download location for the german, nonbranded version of the M8. path:
/data/data/com.android.providers.downloads/app_fota

for search purposes, filename is
OTA_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_HTC_Europe_6.12.401.4_R-4.16.401.13_release_464427.zip

don`t forget to activate root browser if you are using ES File Explorer, otherwise the folder will be empty
not:
/cache ..
/data/data/com.htc.updater/files
only works if you downloaded the ota files and then postponed installation!
/// german keywords: speicherort dateiname deutsch ota update

Captured ZIP from HTC Sync Manager (3.37.605.29) (hboot, signed)

I've updated my phone with HTC Sync Manager. This software downloaded a zip file that I captured:
HSM_0PJAIMG_HIMA_WL_M60[email protected]60105_CNV_1.26_002_release_502050_signed_1n3v5uvkmsetcde9r.zip
Inside this zip file I can find:
0PJAIMG_HIMA_WL_M60[email protected]60105_CNV_1.26_002_release_502050_hboot_1.zip (15.2 MB)
0PJAIMG_HIMA_WL_M60[email protected]60105_CNV_1.26_002_release_502050_signed_1.zip (2.30 GB)
and a META-INF folder that I think contains a OTA certificate.
If someone needed the whole zip file, I could upload it. I'm attaching the hboot file (I'm not sure if this file is useful).
what is that file? nougat update?
