Headphones with Media Controller - LG Optimus G (International)

Anyone tried headphones with media Controller (Like the Galaxy S, the nokia)?
I'm looking for my car setup and I want to put a controller closer to the steering wheel and a microphone integrated, but I don't know it it'l work :|

You mean like any bluetooth stereo headphones? I'm pretty certain no wired headset will do this because the headphone jack doesn't support it.
There are quite a few standalone bluetooth stereo receivers around that you can plug generic headphones or a stereo line-out into though. I prefer the Jabra BT-3030 'dogtag' receivers, but there are plenty of others around. Just do a search on Froogle, Buy.com or any other big electronics site and you'll find them. The only real difference between them all is battery life and sound quality, they all have media player controls using standard Bluetooth profiles and they all include a condenser mic built-in.

No, I was talking about a button on the wired headphone, like the Galaxy S, to skip track, answer call, those sort of things.
From what LG answered me, it's not possible...
Downer there :|

Finaly found a spare pair of headphones from a Galaxy, with the button for the media controller.
Turns out, it works!
Long press opens voice control,
short press starts media player
two short press skips the track when playing.
There must be a standard for Android, I'll try to find the list tomorow and test it out, but anyway, good thing it works.
Anyway, good things it works! I'm running a lot, long distance, and it'll screw up any bluetooth, even S-10 (my current pair had some issue but cleaned up after drying in rice), so the good ol' button hearphones with the media controller is the best for me!
I've ordered a "seperate" microphone with a button and the input, I'll test and let you know!

I just bought some a-JAYS One+ for about 60$ The remote works with the Optimus G and most android phones.
The remote lets you:
Skip tracks
FF / Rwind
Play / Pause
Volume up / Down
Pick up calls
The sound quality is actually very good especially for bass junkies like myself. Not to mention the sleek swedish design.
I absolutely recommend them to anyone out there.
Cheers!

Hello,
Using the application "Jays Headset Control" (Play Store) we get the same result with the original headphones lg ^^
And you can change the button action in Advanced Mode...

it is not a Android feature, it is just the the extra rim on the 3.5 headphone minijack that adds controls to it. and Android have adapted it. like micro USB for charging and connecting.
open standards are always to prefer

Well, I tried with my old Nokia N95 headset which has play, forward, volume, etc. And it did not work as expected, some buttons work as a single button headset. Also bought a Samsung headset (could not find LG headsets) with a button and volume control and the volume control does not work, the volume up key replicates the button.
So it is not that standard.
Or is there an app to activate the volume and multimedia buttons on those headsets?

Headset Volume Controls

After many tweaks my EVO is almost perfect, but I still can't seem to figure out how to control media volume from my headset. I've tried both the ipod headset and the klipsch s4i and neither can control volume from the controls, but play/pause/skip/back do work. Suggestions?
Help please someone.

Why not use a stereo bt headset? Or try the touch slide headset, works on the evo, but I dont remember if it had volume buttons, skip.play ,reverse did have and worked nicely.
Thanks for the response! I'd really rather not have to buy another headset for something as simple as this, and it seems a little ridiculous that HTC/Google would release a product with this limitation. Is there an appropriate app?
there is no support for volume control from wire headphones yet, im hoping that somebody can make a small software package that will decode the vol+/vol- signals and adjust it accordingly..
Im going to be buying ipod headphones myself
This is very sad and one of the little things holding Android back D= Thanks for the response!
I also have the Klipsch S4i headset. I love how it sounds for speech and music. The volume controls worked perfectly when I was trying out the T-Mobile HD7 Windows Phone 7 but I sent that phone back because of the crappy T-Mobile network in my area (San Francisco Peninsula). Now I'm back on my EVO and I have no volume controls. I'd be happy to kick down $10 to any dev who can set this up for me. I'm running the latest Fresh ROM.
I don't suppose anyone has some more advice on this? I picked up playerpro, and I'm now able to play, pause, and skip with my Klipsch S5i headphones, but I can not control the volume, which is a pain to say the least.
Headset Button Controller app gave a bit more functionality (single, double, triple click), but I couldn't get it working and it also didn't have volume support.
Thanks for the comments guys.
CyanogenMod 7 has these features. Single/middle button plays/pauses and next track. iirc, +/- does next/previous track (or might do volume, not entirely sure).
Oh, and 7.1 will be getting a crapton of customizations with the inline controls...

That last link looks like it addresses what I need it to. Do you know if these fixes have been implemented already? That looks more like a suggestion than an implementation.
Anybody have any other ideas? As far as I can tell, CM7 doesn't yet implement the volume and play button controls on newer headphones with in-line controls.

Earbuds with mic and remote?

Looking for ear buds with mic and remote for the phone. Any suggestions? I would like to get something like v-moda remix but they only work with iphones.

They do work on the Vibrant. As will any of the four pin headphones for the iPhone.
Ya I just bought the Klipsch Image S4i and they do not work on the vibrant... Im pretty sure a software workaround can work... I wouldn't know how to do it though... Any chance someone can write up some quick code for this?

The G1 had the same problem when it came out. It turned out to be software related.
The Vibrant is designed to work with any four pin headset. Alternatively you can get an adapter from Samsung that goes from the four pin plug on the phone to an in-line volume control/microphone with a three pin port on it.http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EMC40AONMEBSTD
Is there a link available for this software fix?
The volume controls and the fast forward and rewind would only be able to work with a software workaround. As far as listening to music goes, it tuns out Samsung switched the ground and microphone pins AND the laft and right pins. And because of that I have to hold down the mic button to be able to listen to music and still it would be backwards. Im going to either make a 4pin female-4 pin male adaptor or open up the S4i remote (really easy) and switch them around in there.

The software fix is the android 2.2 (Froyo) update. It hasn't been released yet but should be available in the next couple weeks.
Zaggs Smartbuds, they work with mixzing and the new powerAmp.

Sorry if this is an old post, but I just wanted to know if the controls on the V moda Remix Remote really work with the vibrant or is it just one of the buttons for answering calls? I am planning on buying the headphones. I would also like to know if the mic is compatible as well. Thanks in advance
Blackberry headphones work great on vibrant, nice audio

I'm also looking for a set of wired ear buds with an inline microphone. I'm running Macnut R12 and was at yodabashi camera this weekend, none of the iphone headphones with microphones would work (Sony, Sennheiser, etc). :-(
Meridian is the answer.
What I've found is that any headphones with an answer call button works but I prefer using Meridian with my earbuds because if you go into the options and select "use headset buttons" you can get play/pause, skip and previous functions all from that one button by quickly double pressing for skip, pressing once then waiting a second before pressing again for previous and one press for play/pause. Works flawlessly with me and you don't have to worry about getting headphones with all 3 buttons since 1 button gets the job done.
Hey do you know if there is a way of backing up a playlist and saving it on the SD card or computer? I hate going through and making a new playlist everytime I flash a new rom or something. Thanks man......and I use Meridian because of you. I ride a motorcycle everyday to work listening to music now. It's so easy to move between tracks with the Mic button. Thanks again.

[Q] headphones with music control?

anyone know if there are headphones with music control (next, pause, play...) for galaxy s2?
thanks!
im interested too for gym workout
the earbuds that came with my SGSII seemed to do this automatically with PowerAMP. hit the button on the mic for pause/play and hold it for next track. although, in the stock music app holding down the button to skip track won't work, but pause/play will.
I use a Jabra BT3030 bluetooth set. The controls are all on a dog-tag and you can use whatever headphones you desire. I'm using a set of Sennheiser MXL 60 phones because they have a nice short cord (with optional extension included), and a little loop that the BT3030 attaches to very neatly.
It's a great combo for cycling.
Also interested with this. Any good/great "regular" earphones(NOT in-ear/canal, etc) with working controls on PowerAmp?
Get the Sony DRC-BT30 BT30 Bluetooth Receiver and match it with your favorite earphones (that didn't come with volume/call control).
Has anybody tried a beats solo with control key? What keys work?
If it helps I quote myself:

Regarding volume control using different headsets with the SGS2 I've finally found a solution that works for me: Headset Droid It lets you assign different actions (including rising and lowering the phone's volume) to your headset's key/keys. I've tried it with the stock headset and works great! The link I include is for the 1 day trial version, if you try it and you like it's only 0,99€

Headset Droid
Beats Solo HD: Call(Hang), Music(On/Off/Forward/Back). Volume(Use Headset Droid).
Tried this, and yes it has a workaround with the beats solo but the commands tend to get mixed up. Like center(button) + hold = increase volume or it turns the music player off. So its better than nothing.
Will haven to check headset droid out, hoping for the best

[Q] Headphone remote control

Hi
Are there any headphones / earphones which have a remote control for music control. There are loads of them for the iPhone, but any of them that is compatible with the SGS2?

I'm using "Headset Button Controller" to control a pair of iPhone headphones.
It only works with the center button, but it supports single/double/triple key presses. So it controls: start/stop, and advance to the next song, as well and answer/disconnect incoming calls.
If u r looking for bluetooth ones, just make sure they support AVRCP.
If u r looking for wired ones, most of those vol+/- buttons won't work, but yes, still are compatible.

Posted this on the other thread. Might be of interest to you:
I have a pair of Beats by Dre with Control Talk (for iphone/ipod) and the functionality is the same. The play/pause button works but the vol up/down buttons don't.
Also, I have a pair of Shure 215. They are more bass-prominent than "signature Shure" sound but they don't muffle mids and highs like the Beats do. Anyway, I found these from Earphonesolutions after I got a SGS2.
SHURE SE215A ANDROID & BLACKBERRY COMPATIBLE EARPHONES
(not letting me post a link due to my low post count)
The description says works with "most Android phones" so I guess they're not guaranteeing anything. Too bad I got a pair of those without the buttons before I got the phone. But I thought it might interest some people.
HTC headphone are working great (with all buttons). You can find them anywhere on the internet..
STIL...if i remember well, they are fully working with certain kernels.
Ițm using Nimphetaminețs kernels
I use the Zagg Smartbuds witch works great.
I have a set of the bose ear bud headphones that worked unbelievably on my HTC HD2's and the answer button worked too. with the sII, nothing buttons work and the volume is pretty low.
could an app fix that?
Hey, found this piece of gadgetry - Etynomic MC2. Looks promising, any ideas from anyone about how these are. Apparently they have an Android remote.

I've had the old school Etymotics back in the past, they were great sounding, especially in the high end and mids. However, Etymotics are known to skim on the low end, so if you are a bass thumper, I would avoid unless you can tune the EQ like in Poweramp.
Not sure about the remote working with Android, I've had good customer experience with them, so I think what is listed on their site is true. Though I would email them beforehand to make sure.
Sorry double posting
I am using SE MW600, it can skip to the previous or next track, play and pause, show you the song title, and also show you the phone no of the incoming or outgoing call. The sound quality is good. you should try it out.
I heard Klipsch S4i works well .. I dont have so I cant confirm just browse through the forum you will get it

iLuv iEA15blk Remote Adapter for Earbuds & Headphones

I picked this up from Amazon, as I'm quite fond of my current in-ear headphones and didn't want to buy something else that had an integrated remote.
Only the main button is supported. Neither of the volume buttons respond.
It works natively with ICS and Galaxy Nexus. If you aren't using a third-party Music App, it will automatically call up the default Music application and start playing. Double-press to skip. No support for triple-press.
Since I use PowerAMP, I'll also mention that the app has an option to respond to Headset buttons. This intercepts the Headset's commands -- you don't get crazy things like two Music apps playing at the same time. Long-press to skip ahead is the default, though an option in settings allows for Double/Triple-press and works as advertised.
Hopefully this helps some of you looking for Android headset remotes without having to switch headphones/earbuds.
Along those lines, I ended up with a similar product. I had similar results to yours (no surprise.) The cord isn't very substantial and it looks flimsily made, but hey, it was only $5 and it gives me an easy way to pause without digging my phone out of my pocket. I was pleased to see that it works with BeyondPod (with the internal player.)
Hm.... In theory this should also work when using an aux cable to plug the phone into my car stereo for music. Instead of navigating the lockscreen to skip tracks or pause I could just hit the button on the adapter.
I like this!
