[q] [howto] help! How to extract radio/modem [uvli1] from stock firmware 4.0.4? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Can someone please explain in A CLEAR AND CONCISE WAY AND IN SEQUENTIAL ORDER (ie explain it to me in stupid, i'm a noob )how to EXTRACT the RADIO/MODEM AND PLACE IT IN A FLASHABLE .ZIP FILE from stock firmware 4.0.4 kernel version 3.0.8 baseband version T989UVLI1. I just got my replacement T989 today and I wanted to share the new radio with the community.:highfive: before i flashed a custom rom. I seen that a couple of you were interested in another thread and hopefully y'all could help. Possibly this could be stickied if executed properly?

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm trying to extract the radio.img from another device, but it seems like the steps wouldn't differ much.

Nope.

I'm pretty sure there is a thread in the dev section with all the radios in flashable zips.

For reference it would still be nice to know the steps to do this. Say for example I'm using a different device that doesn't have the images already posted elsewhere

Try clockworkmod from sk8, it has a kernel backup feature.

[Q] How can I install this apk? GT-N7105 Unrooted

Hi All!
This is my first post here and I hope some experts can help me out. I'm new to Android so please excuse me if I have asked a simple or silly question here.
Alright, my question is...I have an untouched apk file extracted (not by me) from GT-N7100 (TGY region) stock rom (sorry I cannot attach it to the post as its over 8mb and I cannot post download links yet). Basically, this apk file is a font package present in the GT-N7100 stock rom but got left out of the GT-N7105 stock rom. I have tried installing it on my GT-N7105 but it just keeps say 'application not installed'. My device is not rooted and due to the stock rom for my device not being available for download yet, I'm holding off rooting just incase I need to unroot for warranty issues. So, could someone please help and shed some light on how I can install this apk without rooting my device?
Many thx!
U can't that's one of the many things rooting let's u do

Thx! Guess i have no choice but to root. Just have to wait for the stock rom to appear first.

Great, quick question. Did you flash the modem too or just the kernel?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Just the kernel
Anyone tried perseus kernel with this rom?
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda premium
I installed it and found nothing special about it.
So I can just flash this without flashing modem or kernel?

You can, but it'd be easier to just flash the kernel after.

bro, I know my limits, lol. just want to make sure that I don't brick my phone. hopefully my questions and the respective answers/responses from more experienced users will benefit all.
Works fine as is with no kernel swap. Full wipe.

So you simply flashed the Rom and not the kernel?

ROM Flashing Question (FL24 - ICS)

Hey guys,
My phone baseband is using FL24 ICS, and I don't know which ROMS I can download and flash.
Most ROMS I see are for JB, so how much a downgrade or upgrade my phone to JB to be able to use those ROMS?

I use blu kuban. QBKing77 has very detailed step by step instruction on how to flash using FL24. I am using SuperSU and Agat recovery. Now I need to know if I can change baseband to GB27 while using the blu Kuban ROM.

Nope. It will not work like that. You can only use an ICS modem with an ICS ROM and the same goes with JB based ROMs.

do I have to unroot the phone or just change rom back to stock? Sorry for deing so dumb.

Here is the thread with modems. Right now we have MDL there. I'm working on getting the MDB one. I'm sure if the newest update has one it will be added as well.
