[Q] 4.2 jelly bean camera - HTC One X

Hi, i have a htc one x with cyanogenmod 10 and i wanted to put the new jelly bean camera working. I have tried a lot of apk and flashable zips but they didn't work well. The one I have installed right now is working, but it is allways crashing and have lots of errors including the photosphere... is there any stable version?

JB camera app??

Ok I don't know if its just me and when I download the ROMS that have been made compiled for JB but in both I have flashed I still have no camera app. Is it not available yet because they change the camera app or am I blind? I've flashed Team Inferno's ROM and Bixie's ROM.

I think you might be blind... lol jk. But no seriously. I've never not had the camera app in any of the JB roms I've flashed (although I'm CDMA). It's still called "Camera..." Perhaps the gapps weren't packaged correctly with the rom so it doesn't show up? Have you looked in /system/apps to see if Camera.apk is there?

Lol wouldn't put it passed me for being blind x) I did check to see if the apk was in the system, its not. BTW I'm on the GSM GNex. Also used the android APK Swapper to double check and it's not there.

Wow. Very interesting. When I went into /system/app Camera.apk wasn't there, but I had the Camera application... I went to drag the Camera app into "app info" and it comes up with Gallery version 1.1.4000, so obviously the Camera application is grouped or side-loaded with the Gallery application. Perhaps try reinstalling Gallery?
You are correct. Normally I remove the gallery apk from ROMs since I prefer Quickpic. Doing this on a Jelly Bean ROM also removes the camera.

I went back to stock ROM that's still rooted , I've tried at least 3 different ROMs and still same thing..
As from what I've understood - you never pushed that camera into system ... I really don't have much time now, so I can't explain how to do it properly ... Search a bit over the web / xda and you'll find how to do that ... You rename your current gallery / camera set then via adb push the other one ... Just try it out! I for instance have 2 cameras and 2 gallerys ... CM camera/gallery and 4.2 camera/gallery ...

Galaxy S2 - 4.2 Photosphere and Gallery FULLY WORKING

A Fully Working Jelly Bean 4.2 Camera (with Photosphere) and Gallery (with Editing)
After much work, here's a fully working app.
Tested on the Galaxy S2 GT-I9100. (Also suitable for the International Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note)
Just flash the attached ZIP file Camera_4.2_GT-I9100-rishtrix.zip
This does not require copying of files to system libraries, editing and setting permissions. Its Simple, JUST FLASH it !!
Obviously, this requires a deodexed rooted phone with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and up
Flash the file via Recovery.
Hit the THANKS button if you like my Post. and let me know in case of any issues.
Works in CM10 (4.1.2) ?
This flash, replace the original camera to Photo Sphere ?
flashed, added one more camera and gallery in app drawer, photosphere working, but video recording not working(

Yes this should work on CM10 - 4.1.2
It will not replace the original app. It will create another camera app and another gallery app.
The best part is you can use whichever you want.

Yes at the moment video recording is a bit of an issue.
But since it creates a separate camera app, you can always use the stock camera for video recording and this one for Photosphere and Gallery Editing.
At least Photosphere now easily works on Galaxy S2 !!!
Hit the THANKS button if you like my post.
Doesn't work for me, photosphere works partially, it is discalibrated, can't hit blue point.
Any solution?
(sorry for my English)

This should work if flashed correctly. It requires the use of the gyroscope.
Check if thats working fine and calibrate your device.
As of now, it has been tested on Galaxy S2 and works fine for many users. Which device are you using ?

Always get suspicious when a new registered (jan 2013) user claims to have something finally working and have stuff to download and install. Be vary with files you download and install on your phone/computer. If this turns out to be a real thing then thanks and props to you OP but understand my suspicion.

[Q] Photosphere Working with AOSP Endeavoru ROM

Hello guys, do you know if there is a way to get a working photosphere with AOSP Endeavoru Build??
I have tried the most popular .zip that is around the web, but the camera app crashes as soon as I take the first pic. Does anyone knows a fix for this??
Thanks!!
Try this

Ciao Guich,
I've just tried this method and cannot get it working. I see now that I've got another ''gallery'' icon in my apps also.
When I want to shoot a photo sphere the camera starts as it should but the pics get shot to close to each other so I get half one pic on the other other (half pictures) and thefore the whole sphere picture comes all messy.
I've tried to fix this via ROM manager ''fix permissions'' mode. Restarted and nothing helps.
My phone is a HTC One X (Endeavoru) with CyanogenMod 10.1 Android 4.2.2

If it don't works, i can't help...
I saw only this mod for photosphere...
Just another thing you could try:
Go to settings>apps and select the gallery app and clear it's data and cache?
CyanogenMod and AOSP Rom's are using a 'gallery2.apk'. This one
camera42_patched_v2.zip
Click to collapse
is using a 'GoogleGallery.apk'...
so do this:
Use Titanium Backup (or another like this) and delete gallery2.apk (The Galerie apk)
then, flash camera42_patched_v2.zip and wipe dalvik cache, and reboot...
Finish,it should work

AOSP Front Facing Camera

Hi, all. So, I was wondering if there are any fixes for the front facing camera bug for third party apps when using AOSP ROMs. When I use front facing camera in third party apps, causes force reboot. I hear this is a common thing with AOSP ROMs, and there has got to be another thread on this (which I've yet to find that offers any real answers). Not sure if this problem affects Hangouts yet, but I'm pretty sure it would have the same problem.
Do a google search for note 2 camera4.3 apk. you'll have to uninstall your existing gallery and then flash the apk file . then reboot into recovery and fix permissions. I use this on my d2att and camera works great.. focal and photosphere.
Thanks!

Thanks for the advice! I'll give that a try. I couldn't figure out how to fix permissions in CWM, though. I thought it was supposed to in "Advanced", but I couldn't find it.

been a while since i used cwm, I'm using twrp. The option to fix permissions is in advanced with twrp. I googled it for cwm and most say the option has been removed and some say not to use it in cwm.

OK. Apparently, the only way to fix permissions for CWM is in the ROM manager app, which I already have. This lets you pick and choose which apps you want to fix permissions for. I'll look into it further and give it a try. If I have to use TWRP, then so be it. Just not really familiar with it. Thanks for all the help, though. I'll post if it works.
Installed, but same problem.
So... first I'd like to say Photosphere is AWESOME! However, I still have the same problem with the front facing camera. If it works at all, it FC when picture is snapped. I think I need to figure out how to set the flashed camera a default or something. I don't know.

Yeah... I understand this is a pretty common problem with CM 10 and AOSP roms. I gotta wonder if there is a solid solution to this or if I just did something wrong. I replaced the stock camera/gallery with the Note 2 camera 4.3, but it still does the same thing. Tried wiping dalvik cache and fix permissions, but nothing seems to have worked. Now running Dandroid cyangenwiz ROM and that works fine, it just isn't smooth and nice like AOSP. Love some of the features, but miss the buttery smoothness of CM 10.2. You said that you haven't had any problems with front facing camera?

Yeah, I'm not real concerned about the front facing camera, except when it comes to hangouts and skype. Haven't had the chance to really test it.
