I am still waiting for my N10... when I get it I will only want to root it to begin with.
Does your oneclick allow this or is it "ROOT, Unlock Bootloader, Install Custom Recovery" in one shot?

Sorry... just saw the main post and could see there are root options (#4) so assuming yes... but it still says:
"Root Stock Jelly Bean builds (upto 4.2.0 JOP40C)" - Is this still true or will it do 4.2.1 ?
---------- Post added at 10:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 AM ----------
nm.... a little reading goes a long way.....
"just got my Nexus 10 today and I upgraded to 4.2.1 without looking at this thread first. I was able to successfully follow the 1-click options to fully root my device and put TWRP on it. Everything is working great and I'm rooted and unlocked."
Will have coffee before posting any more this morning...

is it exist any superOneClick script to root Nexus10?

Thanks for the video! I've been using droidmodderx tips and instructions forever, with it bookmarked on the laptop. Yesterday the N10 arrived. Today it's unlocked/rooted in maybe 5 minutes. The visuals are great letting you know what to expect. (I would never thought that button was the volume-up!) Thanks man!

yes everything wiped.
4.0.2 -> 4.0.4 OTA is like lets say "Windows Vista to Windows 7 Upgrade" saves all data and stuff.
Factory Image is like installing Windows 7 as a fresh new start ("reformatting")

If you are doing the full factory flash you can use the toolkit - it is super easy and is useful even if you want to do the OTA update (I used it and the CWM non-flash method). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
If you want to do the update use the methods here (I used method 2) and used the CWM from the toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419170
how to root 4.0.4? i've tried temporary cwm + su.zip like i did on 4.0.2……with no luck……
su and superuser are installed but it cannot acquire the privilege, nor does it pop up the confirmation dialogue
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I guess the way to do this would be to
1: download the yakju-imm76d-factory-c6e807a1.tgz
2: extract the zip
3: copy the image-yakju-imm76d.zip to your SD
4: use clockwork to wipe/clean cache
5: use clockwork to install from SD file name (image-yakju-imm76d.zip)
6: Reboot
Clean image!!
or am I wrong?

I guess it's because of the secured kernel of stock rom. Have you tried custom kernel like franco's or Glados?
I want to try it myself but I'm at work.
EDIT: Beware though, franco said something along the line that his kernel does not work with 4.0.4 because of different propriety binaries. So a nandroid backup before is recommended.

Need Root for AT&T Nitro HD Official Rom V20c

I downloaded the rom via LG Support Tool yesterday. I was looking to do so because the leaked ICS rom would restart on me multiple times daily so I could not install ROM manager and flash the rooted version of the official rom. Tried all available rooting tools including Matt's method, Superoneclick, UnlockRoot, and TPSparky. Can someone help me?
Best way, that i choose is install CWM ROM from HO!NO! You need to go though unbricking guide. You can flash leaked firmware from .exe, then root and flash stock GB images. On 10f you can install CWM, then flash rooted 20c.

The only problem is that the leaked rom is unstable and sometimes takes 10 times of it restarting before it lets me get the device on.

To clarify, to use HoNo's CWM-flashable version of the official ICS (not the leak), you have to have installed the leak, then unbricked to GB, rooted, and installed CWM. If you haven't flashed the leak, you will boot loop trying to install HONO's CWM version of the new official/stock ICS.

@mattman86,
It's not installing the ICS leak that does the trick, it's going through the unbricking guide, which you've definitely done because you basically created your own revision lol.

Oh, I see... My bad.
I would need to go back to the leaked ROM in these cases, which is a problem. It is unstable on my device and I might have to send it back to LG for the 3rd time. I need a method of rooting that does not require flashing a ROM.

It didn't work. I have the Transformer Prime and I started with the premise that the Transformer Prime root techniques worked on ICS Leak, so I thought maybe voodoo root keeper would work when upgrading to the official release, but no dice. The upgrade wipes everything clean except the data on the SD card.
I had to run the unbrick procedure.
So there is no way to properly install Clockworkmod from the leak? I've tried to and it gives me this message at boot, "secure booting error! Cause: boot certification verify".
So I need to take it all the way back to gingerbread then install clockworkmod? Please help, I'm confused!

Finally have rooted V20c!!!! I still haven't been able to install clockworkmod so what I did was brianlil's method. Once I rooted V18f via TPSparkRoot and let the phone reset itself 30-40 times (for some reason V18f is notorious for that on my phone. Caused me to ship it back to LG twice). Then I put the image files brianlil provided on SD card and flashed using adb. Turned phone offf, removed battery, factory reset, and voila, rooted LG Nitro HD 4.0.4!!

Unlock/Root

Hello everyone, I just got my hands on my new nexus and I LOVE IT!!. I'm on verizon.
I just have a few questions. I got it yesterday but I see there are new radios/bootloader?
I'm still on stock 4.04 ICS
I want to root/unlock and load up MIUI/AKOP
Can someone give me a small tutorial on how to do this? I see there's a toolkit but i'm confused on what to do because of JB dropping.
As always i'm late to the party

it works... but when it fails, it fails hard. and then you dont know where it failed or what it even did.
i personally will not help if you use the toolkit and things go wrong... others will still help.
It's actually very easy on this device. Since you know you are wanting to install a new ROM you don't even need to root. The hardest part is installing the ADB usb drivers and making sure they work correctly. There are basically 3 things you need to do.
1.) Install ADB and the ADB usb drivers
2.) Unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery (ClockworkMod is the most popular)
3.) Flash a new ROM
You can do steps 1-2 by following this guide up to the recovery install step. Then for step 3 download the ROM of your choice into the internal sd and boot into CWM recovery and flash.
Stupid question, can i do all of this if the phone isnt activated? My sim card should be here in the mail tomorrow

Here is what I found in Nexus S forum (Q&A section):
Q: How do I root/unroot the Nexus S?
Check the development section links below for more detail, but you gain root on the Nexus S by booting the phone into fastboot mode and typing "fastboot oem unlock." This will wipe your phone and it's SD card partition. To unroot it, again boot into fastboot mode and type "fastboot oem lock."
Follow the root guide stickied at the top of this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895545
In the event you want to return to stock, simply flash the NAND backup found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884093 . This will restore everything, including the stock recovery image. Then as mentioned above go into the bootloader/fastboot mode and enter "fastboot oem lock" in ADB.

Root method work around for Locked BL's on the 98.18.78 update.

New root method discovered!!!!!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602657
Nvm all what follows
Update: there is much hubub at the rzr thread as to it not working for some users.
Outcome: You must install the latest Moto USB drivers.
More hubub : see my StickyWickets.
Latest Moto USB drivers.
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481
Here is the guts of the work around. updated 9/12/13-osx problems fixed now?
http://www.mediafire.com/download/l7qqr6xx6vt2x6u/motochopper_1_3_xt907.zip
For vzw 98.18.78 xt907 only.
If you need help search google for that file for now. Op in progress. I thought it best to spell out the steps & warnings!! (As someone did misuse this at my linking to it in it's former bare form)
Thanks to livinginkaos the real Op!
Though it is a copy of that other Great forum's Op.
Instructions:
0. You must install the latest Moto USB drivers
1. Download Motochopper_1.1.2
2. Extract files
3. Connect the phone to the computer USB 2 port
4. Ensure that USB debugging is enabled
5.*Execute the Run.bat on Windows or Run.sh on Linux/Mac
6. Follow the prompts
7. Check for root access if none goto next steps.
*
If you had previous root, sometimes it is required to clean the system partition of any remnants, so we can do that here:
*
( Partial restore steps. Note this will not substitute for a FXZ/XML restore. )
8. Download the proper system.img or system.img.ext4 for your device
9. Place the file in the motochopper_1.1.2 directory
10. Jump back to #3
StickyWickets to get over:
1. You may need to enter stock recovery & do a data wipe/reset if you hang at the big M.
To enter stock recovery (which has a bug in the secret double press action), from the dead android, you need to do any of these:
a) Press & hold both volume keys for 2 sec & release.
b) Hold volume down and tap volume up and the menu comes up.
2. Be sure to use only the fastboot in the motochopper root exploit.
WARNING: This ONLY works for the XT907 on 98.18.78. *DO NOT use it on any other device or version!!
INCLUDES LINUX/MAC SUPPORT thanks to*tECHIDNA

Yes. You can also install a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) and flash SU binaries, or use a custom ROM.

I am new to this. I have not attempted to flash a custom rom yet ..the main reason I rooted was to save battery power on my razr m which is disappointing..almost dead after 4 hours of use. I am still not sure how I rooted my phone. I used Dan's method for unlocking the bootloader..when it was finished I was unlocked and rooted. which is better for beginners TWRP or CWM? thanks .

On step one it says does not recognize C/ documents as a drive. How do I push the files to my sd card?
I can't get thru step one. i put it in fast boot mode. I hit up and down and power and phone reboots into normal mode. My boot loader is still unlocked. will this utility work for me?

Just copy the file to the root of your sdcard manually, then proceed to step 2

I obtained root again with the utility. However my phone locked up when trying to upgrade from sd card. I upgraded from my phone itself again then did the last step (restore root) . Im back to a rooted razr m again and also unlocked. I was rooted and unlocked before I took the update 98.18.78 but after the update I lost root but was still unlocked. Thanks. bryan

What is the best and most user friendly recovery system for my unlocked and rooted razr m XT907? TWRP CWM safestrap?

I like TWRP the best, personally. Nothing wrong with CWM though. Safe strap was intended for locked bootloaders and not usually used with an unlocked boot loader.

Is TWRP MANAGER same as TWRP Is it the same thing?

As Rom Manager is to CWMR so is TWRP manager to TWRP.
But twrp seems to be a better execution.
Motochopper 1.1 for RAZR M is now available at the link in the OP. MUCH easier now to root on locked 98.18.78.
Can somebody supply this again via a different link. I'm not a fan of the way this website supplies this file. My computer identified the software that they want to download it with as malware. If somebody already has the file I would appreciate a personal exchange.

I could really use some help here. Hang with me as I explain what I've done and what's happening.
About a month ago, I checked for OTA update. .78 showed up, but, before installing, I went online to see that the new update didn't jive with rooted and BL unlocked Razr Ms. So....I've basically been hitting "remind me later", twice a day, since then. So my alarm goes off this morning and, in my foggy eyed and foggy head state, I hit install update.
Obviously, I lost root but BL is still unlocked. Thinking it would be easy to reroot, I uninstalled the superuser app. Well I tried to reroot with the motochopper in this thread and it's a no go. I run the bat file and it gets here and progresses no further. *daemon started successfully*
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Let someone else chime in, I am on a mac & rooting only is hard.
But use my restore & restore data (adv restore- cwmr) when done is easy. See goodies.
Hello I am on the latest stock, no root, no unlocked bl. It is my understanding if I choose to root it, I am limited to safestrap roms. Do any safestrap roms (which are all outdated?) provide any advantages over the latest stock?
