Extended Battery Cases - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

about to buy the 3500 hyperion battery with the htc extended back, is there a case that will protect this?

Short answer: no, not that fit correctly
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium

No, probably not.
That kinda thing is a 2-in1 deal. It's a case and a battery extender, It does both.

Extended battery back covers may protect the back of the phone but don't do anything for the sides or front/screen. Personally I don't want any nicks or scratches anywhere on my phone. Otter boxes really are the way to go but none fit around a bigger battery or its back door.

I bought the case when I bought my extended battery. It doesn't fit well and gets worse over time since it stretches over a couple of weeks. I got so frustrated with it and went back to the OEM sized battery.

[Q] Droid 2 Hard Case that fits Extd Battery

My subject says it all. Face it the any stock battery is too small, and everyone is buying the extd. battery, so why the heck can't they make hard cases that fit the Droid 2/D2G with extd. batteries?
Does anyone know of a hard case that will fit it, it would seem easy enough to add a second back and charge a few $$$ more for the extra plastic.
Verizon hard cases fit. They have a hump on back just for that reason. They thought ahead.

Thank you. I actually found one over the weekend at the Verizon store. Crappy part is the way it cuts down on the space at the top of the keyboard. I will get used to it, but not a big fan so far, nor of the price they charge.
If you use any case with the battery door removed it seems to work just fine. The extra lift from the extended battery seems to be about the same as the normal battery cover.
I use my seidio innocase with the extended battery but no door and it works fine.

Which case will fit the extended battery and also will be able to be used with the multimedia dock?
Too bad no Otterbox cases will fit the Droid 2 with the extended battery here

Had to take back the platinum double battery

Well this is the 2nd time having to take back the case because of the broken clips so I just didn't bother for a 3rd chance and just got my money back from bestbuy. So I don't suggest buying it. The battery is great but the case sucks!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
is it the real seido case or the cheapo one?... the seido one has a pt on the back, and the fake one is thick through the whole back vs the seido one is thin on the sides.... i noticed at best buy some of the batteries had the cheapo backs, and i also noticed that some of the batteries being sent are also cheap backs too
It was the one where it didn't go over the camera it was flat around the camera. But yeah it said platinum on the back
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Curious but why were you removing it ? I mean I have mine and never pull the battery out ever and it lasts for like two days . Although I did go on a brief run where I was using the stock battery and bought a Seidio case (PT) and the plastic was ridiculously flimsy and fit was a joke to say the least . So I would almost lean to the side of they are getting cheaper on their materials . I have a Seidio 3500 from like 7 months ago and (knock on wood) not a single clip has broken off . So Im wondering if they arent cutting corners material wise .
I had to pull the battery on my frozen phone
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
i am dealing with the same problem. i have the case with the pt on the back. two of the clips broke off of it. i was able to super glue one back on but the other one wouldn't hold.
All of the corners of my seidio case have broken off, only the two clips on the side are the only thing holding the plastic part one now.
Ive had to take back several of PT and Seido's. The setup for the extended battery frankly sucks.
When removing the seidio or platinum battery cover, you have to guide your fingernail or some thin piece of plastic around the cover. You can't just pry it off like you can with the stock battery cover. I can't remember for sure, but I believe the instructions specify such caution is needed with this battery cover.

I have the Seidio 3500 mah battery and their back cover, I use my credit card to get it started at the top, and then I gently slide it down counter-clockwise until it comes off. Clips still intact.
If you are having to remove the battery, sounds like you are having a problem with the phone.

I pull mine out just like that and all of my clips still remain. The back does look incredibly thin so I took extra caution.

Seidio convert extended case and battery

Got a Seidio convert extended rugged case and the 3500mah extended battery a few days ago.
The case is huge but seems pretty darn durable. It fits well in the holster on my 2" duty belt.
The extended battery is definitely lasting much longer than the original. Getting well over a full day of heavy use on a charge.
If you are on the fence about the case and extended battery combo, I'd say it's definitely worth the $90.

I bought the extended battery & rugged seidio case to fit it. Best damn thing eever. I recommend it to everyone I know, even strangers! I love it!!! Amazing investment. I've literally thrown this at walls, into streets, dropped it, & from very high. Not one iota of damage. Great.choice!

ha nice might need to look into that picked up a the battery and standard back for 40 on amazon was pretty excited . battery has been 2 days easily for me with using nav, winamp and etc.
Hey! I was wondering about an item just like that. I bought the Seidio Surface with a holster. And I can say, it does not fit my 2" belt.
Is this the only one that fits that size duty belt?
I'll take AOKP anything

Will the phone fit comfortably in your pocket with the extra thickness? I am thinking about getting one as my original battery isn't lasting long at all.

Seidio Extended back door and case review. - REVISED

--Edited for a more thorough review--
Well I ordered the surface extended backdoor and case. I received the backdoor today (case was ordered yesterday should receive it next week. The backdoor fits over the 4200 mah hyperion battery with no problem and looks and feels better than the door you get with the extended batteries. Design and price are A+.
Bad thing is it came crammed in a box smaller than the retail packaging and one of the side clips was busted so it doesn't sit flush atm. I already sent an email to Seidio so hopefully they rectify it. It feels lighter and almost as slim as stock.
UPDATE:
Seidio Customer Service RMA'd the battery door and sent out a replacement asap. The replacement snaps in perfectly!
DESIGN:
The battery door and the case both feel excellent, sturdier than the flimsy stock door and the case is a nice hard and just as thick material wise as the normal Surface case. Both the door and case have that nice soft/rubbery/grippy feel, definitely helps prevent the phone from slipping out of your hands. Also the way the door and case are designed(top and bottom are slim, then a slight curve our to cover the battery) it just sits in the palm of your hand perfectly. It feels "just right" weight wise. The case also provides enough of a lip in front of the screen to protect it if you put it face down. As with any of these types of cases though angles could mean something else though.
PRICE:
Now the price might put some people off. But I already about a Pt(Platinum) case from Best Buy when I bought my SGS3 which is essentially the Seidio Surface case with Holster. The battery door cost $15 + shipping, then a week later I purchased the case ($29.95) + shipping. You can get the case + holster for a little bit more, but the battery door as of now needs to be ordered separately. I spent about $50 all together ontop of the $15 I paid for my Hyperion Battery so your running into Otterbox territory price wise, but now you have a better case, a holster (if need be) and a bigger battery when your out.
Seidio Customer service said they do run promotions from time to time so you could luck out and save money on this package.
CS:
Probably one of the few times I had to call customer service for a case warranty, but they were very polite, answered very quickly and shipped out my replacement asap. They didn't require me to ship my broken one back to them either. They do require images of the product showing the defective areas.
I have attached screenshots to this post of the case, which snaps over the Seidio battery door. You cannot use this case unless you are using the battery door from Seidio as its molded in the same fashion. The battery door screenshots are further down in this thread(still working on combining them into this first post).
The Battery door can fit over the following battery sizes:
3500 mah
4000 mah
4200 mah
4400 mah
I do not think the 4600+ mah batteries will work as they are too thick/tall.
This is a really good backdoor option for those of us running extended batteries.
Pics?
I'll have em up shortly!

Attached, you can see in one of the photos that the corner by the power button isn't flush(clip was broken on that corner). I am really hoping Seidio comes through, I heard their CS is top notch and i have never had issues with their other cases from the iPhone 4.
Looks good...did they get back to you about a replacement back door?
How much was the shipping cost?

Didn't get back to me yet as they were closed on the weekend. Hoping to hear from them today. Shipping was usps $5.85
Need to mention that it just feels awesome using the phone with it, the back material is just great.

You need to call Seidio Customer service.
Product Code: BVY35SSGS3-BK
Got a response from Seidio, doing an RMA (DOA) process. Not sure if I have to send this back in first or what not as the RMA team will respond once they get my information and pictures. I'll keep everyone updated and post pictures of the Extended Surface case when it comes in this week as well.
Mine also came broken. CS has been very helpful though
Did your replacement work better or still waiting on the RMA?

Is this case so far the only higher protection case available that supports extended batteries? I only know of this one and the cases from hyperion and qcell. I got the qcell case on the hyperion battery but want something more rugged, dont like the slippery feeling.
I have a white sgs3 as shown and like the StormTrooper look lol. The Surface Extended case(still waiting to receive it) is essentialy the Surface Case which is great(have it for stock battery). It let's you use the Seidio Holster it came with. You can use the same holster with the Hyperion battery door and honeycomb tpu if you bought it.
I prefer the slimmer profile and feel of this battery door. Also it is sturdier than the Hyperion which has cracked on me by the charging port

extended batteries Options

I'm looking for an extended battery for my phone, i heard that Qcell was the recommended one, but after some looking, i found more batteries that are higher than the Qcell (4100mAh), the highest one i can fine is 4480mAh,so im not sure that those batteries are legit. but i might still get the Qcell since its recommended. though i need someones input on these batteries first

If you want batteries that list an MAH that could possibly be fake then get it. I learned my lesson ordering no name brand batteries and had a 3800mah extended from china performing worse than my stock oem 1800mah battery. If those are truely 4200 then they'll probably deteriorate extremely fast just like my generics. Stick with QCell they're still working perfect after a year for some members that have had it that long. Check the QCell thread. It's worth the money to get it instead of those since you'll end up spending money on one of those batteries and then again to replace it with a QCell lol. You can get the 4100MAH for around 20$ on Amazon. It might be only the ones with the white back covers that are 20 or black and the other is more expensive. If you do get a QCell and want to trade for a black cover let me know I have a Qcell black battery cover I'm trying to switch to a white one.

A bunch of the guys that bought the Trexcell 3800mah battery reported having issues with it after like a month. I read a bunch of people saying that it wasn't holding the charge well. Check out the QCell thread its about 40 pages but its full of a lot of info. I read over it like 4 times no lie before I settled on the QCell since i didnt really want to get another fail extended.
Go QCell all the way I love it. Closest thing to zero lemon for our device. Do yourself a solid and grab the trexcell extended battery tpu case with the QCell. Just an example of my average battery life....

One last question , and I know this may sound silly.. With the trexcell TPU case and Qcell... if you lay the phone on its back will it lay straight/flat? I use gravity screen on/off and am wondering it will work because I don't know since there is a bulge if the phone will lay flat or not ( I don't like to lay it on it's screen )

The phone lays flat on its back with the extended battery cover without an issue for me. It even has these little dots that stick out in the corners of where the extended battery is so it gives it a better grip when you lay it down.
